DFS Waikiki has a vast selection of name brand products and a great assortment of Hawaii items. They have redesigned the entire ground floor of this store and the atmosphere is very inviting and decorated nicely. They have sales associates that don't seem too obtrusive if you are browsing. There are clean restrooms and a good coffee shop with spacious seating at the far end of the ground floor.

They renovated the inside, very nice!

I ended up in this one while killing time before a flight, and was absolutely intrigued by their coffee and tea selection. Seriously! To the exclusion of everything else in the store. I cannot tell you what else they had on their shelves! Whoever curated this selection of locally grown and roasted coffee beans and teas is really doing their job! There are sampler packs of whole bean coffees, and samplers of ground coffees. Coffees from different islands (Kauai, Hawaii) and different roasts of these coffees. There are instants and ready to pour over packs for traveling coffee afficionados. I could've spent an hour just perusing these two shelves! The tea selection is pretty impressive too - different types (black, green, herbal) and tropical flavors (mango, pineapple). Some loose in tins, and others in bags. If you're looking for a last minute gift for that coffee or tea lover on your list, this would be the place to go.

Felicia was so kind and walked me to the front of the store to look at different beauty blenders that were available aside from the Beauty Blender brand. Another employee also helped me to save $1 (haha) by leading me to a pack of 4 Biodance Korean face masks instead of buying 4 individually. The only downside is that this store can get crowded because the aisles are already narrow. Thank you Felicia!

Sephora has not taken a direct public political stance on Israel. However, it is owned by LVMH,…read morewhich maintains business ties that include Israeli companies. Sephora also carries certain brands with links to Israel, such as Ahava and Christina Cosmetics. Because of these indirect connections, some consumers choose not to shop there, preferring to avoid contributing--even indirectly--to supply chains they believe are connected to Israel. Israel has been accused of serious human rights violations that are ongoing including war crimes and ongoing occupation (US, Palestine and expanding into Lebanon), which informs those consumer decisions. On a practical level, my experience hasn't justified returning. While the overall product selection is broad, the most popular shades are often unavailable. Testers are frequently dried out and unhygienic. Service is inconsistent, and checkout lines regularly exceed 10-30 minutes. Pricing is also significantly inflated. Comparable products--or effective dupes--can often be found for a fraction of the cost with minimal research. I won't be returning, and I recommend doing your own research on brands before deciding where to spend your money.

There is quite a distance from the gates to baggage check. With the storm being fully active when we landed (late due to delay) with part of the airport passage ways being open air, there was flooding in certain areas between the gates and baggage claim. Our baggage came down rather quickly and we were greeted with Leis & a shuttle to our hotel. Though some of the areas were wet and flooded, this airport is really well run. Even upon our return to head back to the mainland, TSA lines were not outrageous and fairly quick to get through security. One thing we did notice when flying out of this airport was that all carry on baggage must go through an additional xray machine right before boarding, this is an agriculture check - which takes boarding the plane take slightly longer than other airports. Even with the added step getting through the airport was a breeze.

PROCESS & FLOW: Check-in and security felt smooth and easy, especially compared to many mainland airports TSA moved efficiently, signs were clear, and everything just made sense. Definitely still recommend arriving 1.5-2 hours early -- especially for mainland flights -- because Hawaii has a little extra step (more on that below ). RENOVATIONS & UPGRADES: You can tell they've been making updates!! The airport feels brighter and more modern, with renovated areas and improved layouts. It's a nice balance of upgraded + still keeping that laid-back island feel BATHROOMS (YES I'M TALKING ABOUT THEM ): SO. CLEAN. Seriously impressed! The bathrooms were spotless, smelled clean, and clearly well-maintained. As a traveler (and mom ), this matters BIG time -- and HNL absolutely delivers FOOD & RESTAURANTS: There are plenty of food spots for snacks, drinks, and full meals before your flight From casual sit-down spots to grab-and-go options, you won't go hungry. Perfect for a quick bite or one last tropical drink before heading home AGRICULTURE CHECK (IMPORTANT!): Hawaii takes protecting their land seriously You'll go through an agricultural inspection when flying out, where all checked bags are screened. Tip: don't pack fresh fruits, plants, or restricted items, or be ready to toss them There are amnesty bins if needed. This step can add time, so again -- arriving early is KEY!! TIPS FOR FUTURE FLYERS: Arrive 1.5-2 hours early (even earlier with kids ‍‍‍) Know the agriculture rules before packing Bathrooms are clean -- no stress there Grab food before boarding -- options are solid Take a moment to enjoy the island vibes before leaving Overall, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is clean, organized, improving, and welcoming -- the perfect way to end a Hawaii trip (even though leaving is always the hardest part ). As an Emerald member with the one world alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. Rather take any other airline that go through that hell again.

(Traveled 04/24/26 FR @ 12:39pm and several times before): Aloha and how are ya!?…read more I've been a fan of Hawaiian Airlines to/from Honolulu (HNL) and the Hawaii inter-islands ever since I was a kid, but I have recently utilized Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines, respectively, because of cheaper and more flights. Now that Alaska and Hawaiian merged in 2024 and ultimately combined to create the Atmos Rewards loyalty program, it made it possible to carry over any mileage points I had. This was my story: PURCHASE(S) One-Way Nonstop Coach Airfare ($84.90): Since I booked the flight two months before its departure, this fare was a bit out of my comfort level of $60.00 for any one-way Hawaii inter-island air travel during the high season (spring break months). On an afternoon flight out of Honolulu (Oah'u) HNL that arrived in Lihue (Kaua'i) LIH around 1:03pm the same day, the nonstop flight departed a tad late but still arrived on-time. Checked Luggage (N/A): Thankfully, I traveled light and only had a carry-on and backpack. Otherwise, they customarily charged $30.00-$40.00/bag. FLIGHT EXPERIENCE ~Check-in: I checked-in through their app 24-hours prior, had my QR code boarding pass saved to my Google Wallet, and traveled with only a carry-on and backpack, so I was ready to go! Then, it was off to the security checkpoints and through the necessary TSA pleasantries...which surprisingly went quickly thanks to my TSA Precheck and Global Entry status. Once that was done, I headed toward my plane's gate with the excitement that always came when leaving on a vacation - sweet! ~Seat 24F Window: It generally was the same sardine can like all airplanes these days, so unless you were in Business or First Class you got to know your neighbors to the left, right, front, and back of you! However, on this particular aircraft, the Coach seats had some room, and I was able to daydream out of the wing window. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=6GjE8m0_qWw5FmPgMeREKw ~In-flight Meals/Snacks (Varied; only snacks this instance): The drink cart came out once we were at cruising altitude. Alcohol and certain kinds of food were made available for purchase. I normally didn't purchase such things on a flight. Thankfully, they provided a COMP drink (I chose a passionfruit guava orange juice 4floz oz juice) before the landing gear started to come down on the approach. ~Lavatory: These were located towards the front and at the back of the plane. Because of the short flight, I had no need for them. ~Service & Amenities: All uniformly-dressed flight attendants were adequate and spoke perfect English. On this particular aircraft, none of the seats had video monitors. The seats themselves were roomy enough. No blankets, headphones, or pillows were provided. Because of the short inter-island flight time, the attendants came around once for drinks and then for trash collection. There were no carry-on baggage fees. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I traveled through and had no need to park (I was dropped off). However, the airport offered onsite parking garages with rates that varied depending on length of stay from FREE (less than 15 minutes) and around $1.00 (16-30 minutes) to a range of $27.00/daily maximum (8+ hours). Because my gate was located within Terminal 1 of departing flights, you had to already be an outgoing or incoming passenger to even get here, so parking would be a moot point. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located deep into Terminal 1 (specifically Gate 15), filled with several other gates, plenty of reasonably-priced eateries and duty-free shops, and many monitors as you passed them along the way. There were sufficient places to sit in the terminal with plenty of natural and electric lighting. Once on the airplane, it seemed like any other, so nothing really needed to be said or seen here, but I wished I recalled the type of plane since I was nerdy like that! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=V9D7TPW92BOlmwH90y4CVQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. I liked to be unencumbered and unfettered, so the least amount of clothing, especially while I traveled through an airport, the better! OVERALL My one-way nonstop flight on Hawaiian Airlines out of HNL was fine and got me there safely which truthfully was all that mattered to me on any domestic or inter-island (as in this case) flights. In any case, I'd fly and recommend them again. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $85.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Located on the School Street (where it's a one-way direction near Liliha Street), C U Market is a small, cluttered, neighborhood convenience store. It has a variety of goods such as caps, pipes, refrigerated beverages, canned goods, etc. I was mainly looking for face masks, so I asked the cashier. I don't know if she couldn't hear me through the plexiglass, so I repeated myself, pointed at some face masks on display, and made hand gestures. She produced a box of masks after I didn't want the puple mask with floral Hawaiian print. I had mentioned "purple" Lakers face mask and also said, "Basketball team". She had a blank look on her face. So - when she brought out the second box of face masks, we went through it and I found two Lakers masks! I asked her if I could have both for $20 (the price tag on each ziplock bag was $10.99). She calculated both masks with tax and wouldn't lower the price. Shucks! I walked around the shop to think it over and took a few photos. In the meantime, customers came in to purchase alcoholic beverages. Hmmm... it was before noon - just saying... lol! I was glad that I didn't bring my mom or my friends feom the mainland here... haha! I decided to get the face mask even though I had seen one at Ohana Hale Marketplace for $8. It was this past Sunday - Kobe Bryant's birthday - and the salesperson said, "Last one..." Ack! My fault... I should have gotten it. Well... I had driven all the way here, found a covered free parking space in front of the store (because the barber shop next door was closed due to the new StayAtHome Order), and Ohana Hale Marketplace will be closed for at least the next two weeks... sigh... So, yes... after much deliberation, I got one of the masks. Then I backed my car out into School Street, around a silver car parked illegally, and blocking the way... his passenger came out of the shop with a six-pack of beer... Note: they also have lanyard type of gadgets (for $1.99 + tax) to clip onto your face mask so you can dangle the face mask around your neck while eating, etc.
