This review is only for the area of Gate 15 and 16 on the top area before you approach your boarding gates. What a welcome surprise to see the remodeled waiting area. They splurged on long comfy sturdy couches with charging stations below. Saw several passengers take advantage of the ability to sprawl out and take a quick cat nap. There are also new white seating arrangements for single to groups of 4 with tables in front and even hassocks to elevate your feet if you're so inclined. If there were charging ability for these too it would be excellent. Great job Hawaiian Airlines. Much appreciated for the upgraded waiting area for A15 and 16.

(Traveled 04/24/26 FR @ 12:39pm and several times before): Aloha and how are ya!? I've been a fan of Hawaiian Airlines to/from Honolulu (HNL) and the Hawaii inter-islands ever since I was a kid, but I have recently utilized Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines, respectively, because of cheaper and more flights. Now that Alaska and Hawaiian merged in 2024 and ultimately combined to create the Atmos Rewards loyalty program, it made it possible to carry over any mileage points I had. This was my story: PURCHASE(S) One-Way Nonstop Coach Airfare ($84.90): Since I booked the flight two months before its departure, this fare was a bit out of my comfort level of $60.00 for any one-way Hawaii inter-island air travel during the high season (spring break months). On an afternoon flight out of Honolulu (Oah'u) HNL that arrived in Lihue (Kaua'i) LIH around 1:03pm the same day, the nonstop flight departed a tad late but still arrived on-time. Checked Luggage (N/A): Thankfully, I traveled light and only had a carry-on and backpack. Otherwise, they customarily charged $30.00-$40.00/bag. FLIGHT EXPERIENCE ~Check-in: I checked-in through their app 24-hours prior, had my QR code boarding pass saved to my Google Wallet, and traveled with only a carry-on and backpack, so I was ready to go! Then, it was off to the security checkpoints and through the necessary TSA pleasantries...which surprisingly went quickly thanks to my TSA Precheck and Global Entry status. Once that was done, I headed toward my plane's gate with the excitement that always came when leaving on a vacation - sweet! ~Seat 24F Window: It generally was the same sardine can like all airplanes these days, so unless you were in Business or First Class you got to know your neighbors to the left, right, front, and back of you! However, on this particular aircraft, the Coach seats had some room, and I was able to daydream out of the wing window. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=6GjE8m0_qWw5FmPgMeREKw ~In-flight Meals/Snacks (Varied; only snacks this instance): The drink cart came out once we were at cruising altitude. Alcohol and certain kinds of food were made available for purchase. I normally didn't purchase such things on a flight. Thankfully, they provided a COMP drink (I chose a passionfruit guava orange juice 4floz oz juice) before the landing gear started to come down on the approach. ~Lavatory: These were located towards the front and at the back of the plane. Because of the short flight, I had no need for them. ~Service & Amenities: All uniformly-dressed flight attendants were adequate and spoke perfect English. On this particular aircraft, none of the seats had video monitors. The seats themselves were roomy enough. No blankets, headphones, or pillows were provided. Because of the short inter-island flight time, the attendants came around once for drinks and then for trash collection. There were no carry-on baggage fees. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I traveled through and had no need to park (I was dropped off). However, the airport offered onsite parking garages with rates that varied depending on length of stay from FREE (less than 15 minutes) and around $1.00 (16-30 minutes) to a range of $27.00/daily maximum (8+ hours). Because my gate was located within Terminal 1 of departing flights, you had to already be an outgoing or incoming passenger to even get here, so parking would be a moot point. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located deep into Terminal 1 (specifically Gate 15), filled with several other gates, plenty of reasonably-priced eateries and duty-free shops, and many monitors as you passed them along the way. There were sufficient places to sit in the terminal with plenty of natural and electric lighting. Once on the airplane, it seemed like any other, so nothing really needed to be said or seen here, but I wished I recalled the type of plane since I was nerdy like that! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=V9D7TPW92BOlmwH90y4CVQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. I liked to be unencumbered and unfettered, so the least amount of clothing, especially while I traveled through an airport, the better! OVERALL My one-way nonstop flight on Hawaiian Airlines out of HNL was fine and got me there safely which truthfully was all that mattered to me on any domestic or inter-island (as in this case) flights. In any case, I'd fly and recommend them again. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $85.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Last week was the first time my family and I had ever flown on Hawaiian Airlines - we were headed from Honolulu to Sacramento. What a great airline! Checking in at 10am went fairly smoothly and the airline staff were friendly - I also thought they communicated great while at the gate! I also love that Hawaiian Airline has assigned seats - I hate feeling rushed especially when flying with family. It's nice to know that we aren't having to look for 3 seats together once we are on the plane. The airplane was huge - 8 seats in each row! 2 on either side of the windows and 4 in the center. They also have screens in front of each seat that plays all of the airline information plus the safety procedures. I actually enjoyed this more rather than watching someone play with the floatation device and seatbelt. You could also watch the progress of the flight - how fast we were flying, the elevation, the temperature and the time left until we reached our destination. The screens offered free movies and TV shows, you will need to bring plug in headphones or an adapter in order to listen though, but they do offer plug in headphones for $4. Not only do they offer free drinks (including a complimentary cocktail), a free snack and a sweet treat - they also come around with a menu where you can buy additional snack boxes - we bought one that included crackers, hummus, nuts and a granola bar. On the way to Sacramento, we were given a pesto, chicken and cheese hot pocket type of sandwich that was pretty good and a Honolulu Cookie. We felt spoiled! Flight attendants were friendly and they even walked up and down the aisles offering water periodically - they were great at collecting trash multiple times too. I also liked having multiple bathrooms available on the plane for our 5 hour flight and you could visit their attendant compartments at any time to get more snacks and drinks instead of waiting for them to come around. Also, the free WiFi is amazing and you can still text while in airplane mode! I can't wait to book another flight with Hawaiian Airlines!

Hawaiian Airlines remains the goto airline for travel to and from the Hawaiian Islands. The new wide body airplanes offer more space and a more relaxing experience. These planes provide free high-speed internet. We flew back with the San Diego University Men's basketball team. They were all able to sit in the standard business class section in the seats immediately in front of us. Their conversation with each other shared how surprised they had more room on the flight. They we 6'5" to 7'1" players. To give you a visual, they were looking down into the overhead bins to load their bags. Again size and spacing on the plane was uplifting and made the four and a half hour flight across the Pacific Ocean enjoyable. Will be watching the Super Bowl in the next hour on the plane!

Last review 6 months ago ! Since last review...2 flight cancellations...one at 5 am in the morning . They offered to put on a flight from SFO - LAX - Maui - HNL with no seat choice ! Umm no !!!! One 4 hour flight delay ! 3 times we were stuck on tarmac after landing for 1.5-3 hours! Multiple times (at least 4) waited over an hour plus for luggage with no explanation , worse was 2 hour wait at 10pm !!! Constant emails saying if I fly 75 k I get more upgrade vouchers . Upgrade vouchers that you're unable to use . Since the merger it's been a crap show with a lot of loyal customers moving onto other airlines!

Hawaiian has no more Aloha
Brandon L.

I fly from Oahu to the neighbor islands on business and usually if I get finished with my job early I will see if there is another flight I can take home. They usually get me in no problem. But since the Alaska purchase they want to charge me an extra $50 on top of my $300 inter island fare. Hawaiian has no more Aloha. I guess I'll just wait 3 hours in line until I'm called.

The airline seems to have lost its quality. The flight attendants are not as friendly and the food has greatly diminished in value. The cabin itself doesn't appear to be well-kept.

Das my airline!!!! As a loyal flyer of Hawaiian Airlines for over 30+ years, I wanna "MAHALO" Hawaiian Airlines for recognizing the loyal flyers throughout the years. How can be da 2 star rating on Yelp??? If it was my opinion, Hawaiian Airlines easily gets 10 stars from me. I've flown all over the U.S. for work and I always try to use Hawaiian Airlines as my main carrier. Although I've been a platinum flyer with Hawaiian Airlines for many years, it appears a lot of folks have the same status therefore sometimes getting upgraded seats is hard. But whenever I can get the free upgrade when flying, all I can say is......Saweeeeeet!!!! Flying can be very stressful at times, and as good as the flight service, as well as the "on-time" schedule that Hawaiian Airlines provides, nothing is 100% perfect and there can be hiccups. Best advice, be patient, and if things can be made right......Hawaiian Airlines will always come through! With the recent merger with Alaska Airlines, I am hoping the great service will continue, and that Hawaiian Airlines will keep the iconic business name.

Aloha I'm not sure why their rating is so low. They are a great airline. Comfortable seats, well better than most. Prices are all inline with all the other airlines. Granted we can complain all we want but living on an island, we really are limited. Their food can be better. An occasional plate lunch vice a thick breaded sandwich would be good. But the cookie before landing is a nice touch. Free movies and star-link is a high plus. Just remember to bring wired headphones. Gone on the freebies. And each seat also comes with a power outlet. Perfect to write your Yelp review. Overall four stars. It's a great airline and they cover most of the US and some overseas destinations.

"Guest service clerk" lacking guest service decorum rudely said "I'm telling you..it's a full flight..."

Our minor child's seat got randomly moved prior to our flight. And guest service clerk by gate A15 at 0918 on 4/2/26 looked at the situation- ultimately referred us to gate counter. But in the process rudely said "I'm telling you..it's a full flight..." Did not appreciate the comment! As if we don't understand her?! I immediately turned around. New Alaskan/Hawaiian Air terminal at HNL

"Anything's Possible" - Lea Michele. UPGRADED RATING FROM 2 stars to 4 stars (and why): - merge with Alaska has been good for Hawaiian, finally, a viable airlines. - on time and not late for once (early, even) - flight not cancelled or delayed, standard practice on Hawaiian - kiosks actually worked - check in was easy - app worked - people spoke English ( I am not making this up). Originally booked on Alaska but it got booted over to Hawaiian during the merge. I was worried because I originally booked on Alaska to get away from Hawaiian, even if it meant paying more. Thank you, Alaska, for teaching Hawaiian how to run a business. Loved the new Hawaiian Air terminal at HNL, which was huge and spacious, clean and new with nice bathrooms, nice gift shop, and large clean bathrooms, unlike the trashy Hawaiian Air terminal in Seattle, with busted seats, trash on floors, stained gross carpets and only one central bathroom. Flight from HNL to SEA was on one of the tiniest seats I've ever had next to Air AsiaX (avoid like the plague, see my review on them). I'm a short, small person and it was uncomfortable even for me. Cram people into an airbus, I say. (Airbus A330-200). No meal on the overnighter. Flight from SEA to HNL was on-time. They charged me the Hawaiian Airlines bag fare of $40 when I booked originally on Alaska Air $35 per bag, but I didn't make a scene as one of my two checked-luggage was a little overweight by a few pounds. We were served a nice warm ham and cheese sandwich lunch and soft drinks. Baggage claim information accurate and bags came off the plane in a timely manner. RETURN FACTOR: Only if Alaska still owns Hawaiian.

Last happy time on Alaska or Hawaiian air

Former Loyalist -- Completely Let Down by Hawaiian & Alaska Airlines I've been a high-tier HawaiianMiles Pualani member and Alaska Gold because of years of loyalty and frequent travel. That dedication apparently means nothing anymore. First, Hawaiian Airlines pulled the direct Honolulu-Seoul (ICN) flight -- a massive downgrade in service and convenience. What used to be a flagship international route now forces me to fly HNL Seattle Seoul, costing me an entire day of travel. That alone tells you everything about where priorities are headed. Since Alaska took over, the experience has gone downhill fast. Now I'm flying both carriers regularly and rarely get credited my miles correctly. I recently submitted a request for missing miles from a Tokyo trip and was told it will take 6-8 weeks just to see my points. That's unacceptable for frequent flyers. It gets worse: * Alaska lost my luggage on my last trip. * Mileage credit is inconsistent and painfully slow. * Their website is an administrative mess -- even finding something basic like my next flight is harder than it should be. * Hawaiian has completely lost its authentic island feel. * Alaska feels disorganized, impersonal, and bureaucratic. My final Hawaiian flight to Seoul will be in March -- and after that, I'm done.

How many flights does Hawaii Airlines have in USA?

Doesn't matter. Hawaiian Airlines likes to cancel flights or delay them for hours.

They will take your baggage you check and lose it. Then you'll have to fly to a different island to reclaim it or pay FedEx to ship it for more than the price of your plane ticket.

Four stars last year, 5 stars now. How does an airline, other than Japan Airlines or ANA get a…read more5-star (forget Dubai Air, can't afford to fly that in this lifetime)... I didn't like the fact that United changed my flight times 2x, but that's my fault for booking it out several months in advance, but I also was given the option to cancel with a full refund or re-book, which I took full advantage of. I had to pay a little more to land in a smaller airport because the time was more advantageous than landing later in a larger airport, which would have shaved off a significant portion of time on our vacation. THE APP: The best airlines app I've ever used! Smooth, no glitches, flight updates, gate information, baggage claim number, track your bags in real-time, the ability to change your seats in real-time, pay for luggage, find your rideshare map, get your boarding pass, skip the lines, all from the app! THE WEBSITE: I like that you can see your seats on United before you put in all of your payment information, unlike some other airlines (ahem, Hawaiian). COMFORT : We flew one-way from HNL to FLL with a stop in IAH, and on the way home, MCO to HNL with a stop in DEN (80's Cruise - look for the review soon). Both IAH and DEN used Airbus, which is smaller and more "modern" with in-flight touch/entertainment screens; and the older Boeing (to/from HNL), a super-large, older plane with generous leg room (one of the longest we've ever had). I heard a traveler complaining about the older Boeing not having the movie touch-screen, but the older Boeing 777-200's seat configuration allows for a few 2-seaters toward the rear of the aircraft, and I'd rather sit with my husband over sitting with a stranger in a 3-seat config for a touch-screen anyday! This feature alone will make me a loyal United flyer, as long as they keep the 777-200 Boeing! ON TIME: No delays. We almost had one, but the United app kept us updated the entire time, and we were actually early. SERVICE: The flight attendants/pilots were very friendly. The attendants frequently walked up and down the aisles offering refreshments and trash service, unlike some other airlines, where I had to hoard the trash for hours before they came by so I could get up to use the bathroom (ahem, Hawaiian). FOOD: United allows for dietary restrictions and allows for vegan, ovo-lacto, Asian vegetarian, vegetarian, etc. We ordered the Asian Veg on our app ahead of time prior to the flight and we got hot meals before everyone else; it was so delicious that I actually was inspired to create the fresh cucumber salad when we came home! LUGGAGE FEES: $40 for the first check-in, $50 for the second luggage. Option to check in your carryon for free on full flights and in some cases, move up to Boarding Position 2 (out of 6) if you volunteer your carry-on. Flown on United twice recently, and wasn't subject to the WILMA (look it up). OTHER: Blankets in sealed packages and I needed an extra due to the cold cabin; attendant was friendly and gave me another. We had an emergency prior to landing in IAH with a man in an aisle across from us who thought he was having a heart attack and the United staff was professional and level-headed from beginning to the end. The man was alright and was able to walk off with EMT. RETURN FACTOR: I am a fan! As long as they will keep the 777-200 Boeing config and their stellar service/communication, will start becoming a repeat customer not chasing the cheapest flight.

My recent trip from Chicago (ORD) to Kona, HI started off rocky with several cancellations and…read morerebooking issues, but I have to give major credit to the teams who stepped up and turned the situation around. After the initial cancellations, we were rebooked on United for the first leg to LAX -- and that ended up being an excellent flight. The service was smooth, professional, and truly exceeded expectations. The crew was attentive, the aircraft was comfortable, and the overall experience immediately relieved a lot of the stress from the earlier disruptions. From LAX, we switched back to Delta for the next leg to Honolulu. Delta went above and beyond to make the delay easier on us: * Overnight hotel accommodations provided * Food vouchers covered meals * Uber transportation to and from the airport was arranged Those extra steps made a huge difference and showed a real commitment to customer care. By the time we boarded the final leg of our journey, everything felt seamless again. What started as a frustrating travel day truly turned into a reminder of how great airline service can be when teams go the extra mile. Huge thanks to both United and Delta for making sure we were taken care of every step of the way. We finally arrived in Kona with our spirits high and gratitude even higher. Highly recommend -- top-notch service all around.

Continuing on, the transition has not been the easiest I'm sure for the traveler, the airline employees and all others who were involved however slight in this marriage of Pualani and the Eskimo. The backhouse infrastructure is in full force and effect, and very noticeable starting with the reservation and check in processes. The combination of backhouse staffing was in the works over the past few years and has now come full circle. The jury is out still and all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. The front of the house still uses the Pualani logo and designs in the terminal and on the flights (my first review outlines this) Gate and boarding area for interisland and domestic flights remain the same (so far). For the Hawaiian traveler, you will have many more options with Alaska especially on the domestic front. For the Alaska traveler, it's much easier now for you to visit the land of Aloha.! Happy Traveling (ps- 4th star for the unending dedication by the remaining Hawaiian Employee Alumi)

First time trying to use it since the Alaska takeover, and somehow the process became dramatically worse. Apparently Alaska's system cannot handle applying a companion certificate to a booking with more than two passengers. So if you're a family of three, congratulations, you've discovered one of the dumbest booking limitations imaginable. The absurd part is that this is literally just a $100 discount certificate. Any halfway competent booking system could simply apply the credit toward the final total at checkout. Instead, customers are expected to split reservations, risk losing seats together, or completely rebook flights afterward like they have unlimited free time and patience. I spent: - 5 minutes with the Hawaiian Airlines Mastercard rep, who was actually polite and helpful - 25-30 minutes trying to explain the issue to outsourced support - nearly another hour waiting on Alaska support The final "solution"? Cancel and completely rebook the flights. Brilliant. Meanwhile, Alaska now seems determined to nickel-and-dime customers into the ground. We already paid extra for Premium Economy, but apparently sitting together as a family is now considered some kind of luxury add-on. Extra for aisle seats. Extra for window seats. Extra for sitting slightly closer to the front. At this point I'm surprised they haven't introduced a "breathing convenience fee." The old Hawaiian Airlines experience felt warm and practical. The new Alaska version feels like a budget airline wrapped in a cheap touristy Hawaiian shirt bought at an ABC store while aggressively squeezing customers for every possible dollar. Looking forward to the complimentary thimble of mediocre food and the $20 peanuts.

Which gave ample time to make our way to the airport to grab a bite and coffee before boarding the plane. Online check-in was successful, with 3 hours check-in time, it was sufficient. Having Global Entry membership allows you to expedite security via TSA Precheck only in Honolulu and other US Airports. I must say, that the ground staff from check-in to boarding were efficient and friendly. One piece of information I failed to pack was my Vaccination card or take a photo of both front and back of the card. My fault, I assumed restrictions were lowered and didn't do my proper research prior to the flight. The customer service agent just checked me in and I had the choice of heading back home to pick up my vax card, or chance myself when entering The Philippines without proof of vaccination. Thailand dropped all restrictions from our previous visit Fall of last year. As a foreign traveler entering The Philippines, you're required to complete your eTravel registration to declare proof of vaccination, similar to when entering Japan when proof of vaccination was required. When complete, the website will issue a QR Code prior to entering the country. Service onboard was excellent. Available onboard entertainment on each seat back screens. Being seated in Economy Class, I noticed both lunch and dinner meals includes silverware. For long-haul flights, I'm content. Between Honolulu and Manila, onboard amenities were a pillow & blanket, toothbrush, earphones, two complimentary meals including a mid flight snack, alcohol including red or white wine, beer and other nonalcoholic beverages. Between Manila and Bangkok, it was almost the same. No amenity's were provided on a A321 and each seat back had no inflight screen monitors. But there was a dinner served on the flight going to BKK. Lunch on the return, and free inflight entertainment on each seatback furnished by an A330-300 aircraft. PAL occupies Terminals 1&2 at Manila International Airport(NAIA). When transferring between terminals, it was a bit of organized chaos. What the customer service agent in Honolulu advised us that our checked luggages would automatically transfer between MNL & BKK. Both us and a Thai passenger didn't have faith that our bags would make it through to our final destination. We all had to double check over and over. There was an airport transfer that would shuttle passengers from T1 to T2 without leaving the airport premises. You're escorted by a ticket agent to bypass immigration and customs, and it's required you pass through another security screening as if you are entering an airport for the first time, very similar to making a transit at Incheon Airport. It's not an huge airport like Haneda Airport, but every single person onboard and in NAIA are English friendly, and the most helpful and friendliest airline personnel I've ever come across! Maybe in the future if booked in Business Class, I'd update my review for later.

We dined in at a nearby restaurant, then walked around seeking Kona coffee. Our suite was ready around 3 PM. The suite was very spacious and I am mostly impressed with the cleanliness. Although, I am disappointed that the adult pool closes at 6 PM, which all the other pools close at 9 PM. There is a private beach area, which my kids enjoyed. Beach chairs are $26 each, which are quite expensive. I appreciate the $65 per night dinning credit, which we utilized at the on site market for snacks and water. We enjoyed the brief firework show from our balcony suite. We attended the on site Huli Huli event, which was quite disappointing. There is quite a distance from the gates to baggage check. With the storm being fully active when we landed (late due to delay) with part of the airport passage ways being open air, there was flooding in certain areas between the gates and baggage claim. Our baggage came down rather quickly and we were greeted with Leis & a shuttle to our hotel. Though some of the areas were wet and flooded, this airport is really well run. Even upon our return to head back to the mainland, TSA lines were not outrageous and fairly quick to get through security. One thing we did notice when flying out of this airport was that all carry on baggage must go through an additional xray machine right before boarding, this is an agriculture check - which takes boarding the plane take slightly longer than other airports. Even with the added step getting through the airport was a breeze.

Hawaiian Airlines is the worst airline organization I have ever seen in my entire life. I will…read morestand by that statement until the day I die. I have traveled across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. I have flown to more countries than I can count. I've gone through airports with insecure systems, airports where absolutely zero English was spoken, and somehow still managed to check my bags and get my items where they needed to go. This is not a personal opinion. This is a fact based on experience. Hawaiian Airlines is the most disorganized airline I have ever seen in my life, and honestly, I could see them going out of business. As you can see from the pictures, there is absolutely nobody assisting customers. I don't know if they are short-staffed because they refuse to hire people or refuse to pay decent wages, but nobody is there to help because the employees themselves appear overwhelmed with responsibility. Secondly, you have to wait in a completely separate line just to get your bags tagged. If the system fails and doesn't allow you to check in properly, you have to restart the entire process from the beginning. Then, after finally tagging your bags, there is another completely separate line just to drop the bags off. If something goes wrong again, you are sent all the way back to the beginning. It makes absolutely no sense. You know the system where you get your bag tag and boarding pass, then drop your bags? The system used by 99.9% of airlines? I assume Hawaiian Airlines leadership said, "I have an idea. I'm going to make this whole system complicated and confusing for my customers." There are multiple breakdowns in this entire process. You have five employees running back and forth trying to help move bags, but only one main line that splits into two checkpoints for customers trying to check in. Instead of having workers properly stationed at counters assisting customers with bag weighing and bag drop, they have thousands of kiosks with nobody available to help anyone use them. Customers are left standing around trying to figure out broken computer systems that do not scan properly, do not recognize confirmation codes, and constantly fail during check-in. It is a complete mess. I will say this: the flight attendants were very nice, the plane itself was wonderful, and the staff assisting once I finally made it to the front were helpful. But the entire experience beforehand was unnecessarily complicated for absolutely no reason. There are actual classes and professional systems dedicated to organization and customer flow, and Hawaiian Airlines would greatly benefit from them because they are completely failing in this aspect. Lastly, Hawaiian Airlines needs to get its shit together.
