It's a bit of a cross between a flea market and a Chinatown. The prices will get lower and some vendors will wheel and deal if you walk away. I bought a carved coconut tiki mug that started out at $25--my hesitation brought the price down to $15. Dog bandanas went from $15 each this $10 each. You get the picture. If it's fun to look around and bargain, but be aware that we saw similar items at the ABC convenience stores (on every corner--like a circle k but much nicer) for, in some cases, a lower price. I've heard of Duke's marketplace before but this was my first time here. This place is pretty big. It has a food court area, grocery store and convenience store all in one. The Sanrio Hawaiian edition collectibles was what attracted me the most. But they are expensive. The prices are different ranges. They had a lot of workers running the cashiers and food. They also had some tables to eat at. There is an alley way next to this place and if you walk deeper in there is a more affordable flea market that has many tents. Some of them can be very direct since they are trying to hustle. I bought a few things like 3 croc charms for $5 and 4 Sanrio Hawaiian plushies for $20. They take cash or card but cash is easier. It's just a tiny strip right in the heart of downtown Honolulu amidst all of the high end shops and hotels. In addition to the cheap trinkets they also sell some very beautiful rayon Hawaiian dresses with matching men's rayon Hawaiian shirts. It is a little cheaper and had much more selection than what they sell at Costco in Hawaii. Duke's Marketplace is now the place to go to shop with local vendors in small stalls, selling handmade crafts, Hawaiian clothing, and fresh food. It is located very close to the International Market Place, to help visitors like me who hadn't realized what the International Place has become. Instead, coming here to interact with 80 or so vendors allowed the first time visitors in our party to get the souvenir shopping fix out of the way. I did notice quite a few stores selling Hawaiian style fashion for pets and dolls. Duke's Marketplace is sorta like a "mini swap meet" but instead of going down to the Aloha Stadium, you can get your souvenirs right here in the heart of Waikiki, as Duke's Marketplace is situated along Duke's Lane. To find Duke's Marketplace, if you know where the Outrigger Beachcomber Hotel is, as you enter Dukes Lane off of Kalakaua Avenue, you'll see a long lane that reaches from Kalakaua Avenue, to Kuhio Avenue, as Kuhio Avenue runs parallel to Kalakaua Avenue. Along Dukes Lane, you'll find an array of vendors selling all types of Hawaii souvenirs, like shirts, hats, woodwork, jewelry, cups & shot glasses, Hawaii magnets, bags, and probably anything else you'll find at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. If you just so happen to be in Waikiki, and you don't have access to a car to get to Aloha Stadium, no worries, because Duke's Marketplace has got ya covered! Like the swap meet, you can bargain with the vendors here, and if you find the right vendor, you can end up with a pretty good deal. Duke's Marketplace has been around for ages, and it's a spot with various vendors selling souvenirs, jewelry, clothes, and random items. Honestly, it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit when I'm in Waikiki. I'm just not into the souvenir scene, and while I get the appeal of supporting local artisans, it's hard for me to get excited about vendors reselling bulk-bought items to tourists. The place has a cozy feel at night with the twinkle lights, making it a bit more inviting and relaxed. Yes this is very much for the visitors though I'm no different when I'm the one visiting looking for places like this you do still need to bargain for the item you've been searching for and as annoying it can get the search does make it so worth while. It's not as large as it used to be but having these stalls does keep the old days with the slight touch of flea market vibe right here in the midst of Waikiki is a beautiful thing along with having some services like shave ice, or fresh fruit smoothie or even a henna is cool while you browse is a fun thing to do. It can get hot during the summer as it's obviously outdoors and no covering the vibe is busy while each cart seems like a repeat of others and wonder if some tenats have multiples. Super busy market on a main tourist street. Fam got me loco moco for $9.99 the first time we went to Hawaii in 2022 and brought it back to our hotel for me. Excellent rendition of the Hawaii classic. However, this time it was $13.99 less than a year later in March of 2023. Serious inflation/gouging going on. Pathetic these days. Anyways, we tried the fried chix (very good) and loco moco again (very good). Some great takeout food, coffee, desserts, drinks, snacks here. My kids wanted to pick up a few souvenirs for their friends. I've been to Duke's Marketplace before and thought it would be a good place to start. While the kids went from cart to cart buying trinkets and various little things, I came across a cart with Hawaiian pup clothing! My husband doesn't like me dressing up our Frenchies -- but I was sure he would make an exception for a Hawaiian shirt, right? :) I wasn't too sure about the sizing, but the vendor was determined to make the sale, so he asked a lot of questions about my pups. He then showed me every style he had in stock. After we figured out the size and style, the haggling began! He was actually pretty accommodating and gave in fairly quickly -- I got a great deal. Tourist spot if I may, It's decent and actually offer a lot of foods from poke of various kinds. No, but just buy your stuff at the swap meet if you're looking to buy a lot of stuff. We bought a wooden dolphin box here on our last trip and these exact same kiosks are still here almost 8 years later. When in Waikiki...we explored around in search of Duke's marketplace. It's quite hidden in Waikiki but not too hard to find since it's not crowded.. My aunt was specifically looking for this place and I told her they built the new International Marketplace where they used to be. But nope! Totally different marketplaces we were talking about as she was a determined woman. Anywhos, we parked at International marketplace and explored the strip until we coincidentally walked right by it. It's on the opposite side of Cheesecake Factory. Not too far of a walk, maybe 5-10mins depending on your pace. It's a bunch of tents down an alley. A bit tight to stroll through but manageable with a stroller. They have Hawaii souvenirs you can find at the swap meet, Walmart, and stores down North Shore. Quite pricey compared to the swap meet. The seller mentioned they pay a higher rent which made sense, le sigh. Nevertheless, aunt got some gifts for the fam in North Carolina and off we went. read more

If you are a tourist, this is fun to see for the first time. The cashier attendant says it's ABC store renamed and rebranded. They have a good assortment of gifts. I went twice and saw toys and gifts that I liked. For kids and humans. I got the gifts my own mom likes from Hawaii. She would like coming here with some group of people with me. Even with the brand new International Marketplace going up next door, this place still looks just like I remember... basically numerous kiosks lining a small alley between 2 buildings. Even the types of kiosks appear the same. It's just tons of souvenir, aloha clothing, and little knickknacks. The prices aren't bad considering that it's in Waikiki. My boyfriend brought my mom and I there right after the International Marketplace because he wanted to show us what the old International Marketplace looked like. Tucked in between a small alley are the various vendors selling all kinds of Hawaiian souvenirs for affordable prices. You can even negotiate if you like. There's Hawaiian clothes, hair accessories, little handbags, wooden jewelry boxes, bobbleheads and more. I do have to say; you need to be smart when purchasing here. I was eying a cute wooden Hello Kitty box and the lady there kept saying it Koa Wood; expensive Hawaiian wood. She had a tag on there that said $65 and she kept convincing me to buy it. She then whispered and said she would give it to me for $25. Honestly it seemed quite fishy for her to go $40 down and there's no way real Koa Wood would go for $25. It was an imitation Hello Kitty too. She seemed upset when I walked away. Later on; other vendors who were selling something similar had it for $25 too. Thus her $65 initial price was way too much. Do not support stall #52 (BMJ Collection). My husband and I are visiting Oahu for our 10 year anniversary. While staying at The Royal Hawaiian, we decided to take a stroll to Duke's Marketplace. We were appalled when the operators of stall #52 (BMJ Collection) refused to serve us. We are "black" Americans and the owner refused to look at us. When we asked to see items on the shelf, he told us to go away and said he was busy, but then helped someone directly behind us. When we asked what the problem was, he then asked us how much money we had to spend; obviously assuming that we didn't have any money (which is definitely inaccurate). It was obvious at this point that he wanted nothing to do with black people. This owner does not deserve to have this stall if he is going to treat people this way. read more

This little alley of stands is alright. Not my favorite place nearby, but there are a variety of items you can find from clothes to jewelry. All the jewelry and "souvenir" stands have the same jewelry, they try to real you in with their friendly attitudes, and give you the "original prices" but then lower them to get you to buy, even though everyone knows all the jewelry is fake, low quality, and the actual original price is 2-8$, not 20+. The vendors are friendly up until you decide not to buy any of their products. Definitely worth walking through and browsing, but don't bother purchasing anything here unless you want a little souvenir that won't last very long. read more

This was the most stressful place in Hawaii. I don't recommend anyone going here. They grab you to stay at their booth, tell you their jewelry is real when you know it's fake, and they get extremely angry when you don't buy from them. I attached a photo of where this one lady told us we were cheap because we didn't buy her bracelets. Her response shocked me! I'm a very calm person, but when you are rude to my family I'll absolutely be honest with you. I told her the reason she can't sell anything at her booth was because she was rude! Little did she know, we were going to eventually purchase the bracelets after we walked around. Well, she lost a sale after that comment! She was probably the rudest sales person there, but the other people are just as bad. Don't fall for their sales pitch as they grab your arm and whisper in your ears, "Shhhshhhh don't say anything. I'll give it to you for $ instead of $$$. Good deal. I don't give anyone that price." I know we all need to make money, but there are better ways to get a sale. I'm so glad at there remains at least some remnants of the original International Marketplace here in Waikiki. I hadn't realized until recently that many of the original vendors relocated to Dukes Lane. This is literally a cramped alley way about block from the new Marketplace. Blink and you miss it. This is a great place to find local arts and crafts, jewelry, and gifts. Love the reasonably priced opal rings and necklaces. Brush up on your haggling skills and find some good deals. There are multiple shops here, each selling the same items. They all source their products from the same place and try to resell cheap, unauthentic products to you. The vendors are pushy and really don't take no for an answer. They're also downright dishonest, make sure to cross check prices with another vendor and ensure any credit card transaction is correct. I had two different vendors try charging me an amount higher than what was verbally told, both times the amount had one extra digit. read more

Love the old Int'l Marketplace which is what this is. The new marketplace is nothing but a tourist trap. All high end stores there now. So the newly named Dukes is a hidden gem which has a lot of local people selling their wares I bought a wooden Hello Kitty crafted by the locals and I love it. read more
