Good place for drinks, burgers and appetizers but we weren't impressed with entrees. Chain- like food and menu. We expected a larger selection of dinners. Atmosphere is very dark, more like a pub. Good for socializing! read more

I love Blackie's! It's my favorite allergy-friendly spot! If you have allergies they have a separate paleo menu for gluten free! I ordered a vegan burger and it was so amazing! read more

Great food and service. Wait can be long on food depending on when you show up. Great service overall and most menu listings are delicious. Highly recommended. read more

Great atmosphere and delicious food! I would give it 5 stars but over the time it has developed the "we're getting to big for our clients attitude" the prices go up and the portions get smaller. I'll still go back, it's still a great place but for how much longer. read more

Excellent food. Best Gluten Free menu in New England. The new menu has so many delicious choices. We live this place.

Came to Blackie's tonight with a friend. Was told the wait was going to be 2.5 hours. Found a table in minutes at the bar (yay!). Was greeted by the most wonderful waitress Tori. She was prompt, fun, knowledgeable, and super sweet! We split the most AMAZING cheeseburger Rangoons. Two words: life changing! Seriously. Try them! Then we had the chicken saltimbocca and the southern standard sandwich. Omg. SOOO GOOD. If I could give them ten stars I would. Awesome awesome awesome. Would recommend to everyone!! read more

We had a 5:45 reservation last night for 6 people. My husband and I with our children and their spouses. Arrived on time to be told our reservation had been cancelled. When I asked why, I was told that we called and cancelled that afternoon. We absolutely did not cancel, and some of us were traveling 45 minutes to get there! So, 6:00 on Saturday night and no one there was able to apologize or accommodate us. Not sure what happened but we definitely didn't cancel! So disappointed. Ended up leaving because not one person there seemed to care at all that it was their error. read more

Sadly, I had a bad experience at Blackie's about 30 minutes ago and I love their food but I won't be returning. Went to the bar, ordered a veggie burger and glass of wine, and my friend with me also ordered a glass of wine. We asked for a fruity shot each & our check. Katie (bartender) denied our request for the shot and this writer asked why. She said she doesn't feel comfortable serving us shots. This writer asked if it was our behavior, and she said no. She stated she wasn't aware of where we possibly were before we entered Blackie's. I am very confused and also very understanding if she denied due to behavior, language, etc. Katie stated that it was none of these things. I love Blackie's but I don't love Katie and I won't return. read more

Listen! Get the buffalo chicken dip! It's amazing. The burgers are incredible. I got a bacon burger w a side salad. It was excellent. It was $20 but I have to say it was so good I didn't mind. It gets pretty busy in there but take out is always an option. They have a small outdoor seating section and a nice sized bar area. read more

Good food. Pretty expensive if you ask me. But always tastes food! The staff is pretty good! I love the decor in the new space. I usually get a turkey burger with an egg on it on a pretzel bun and sweet potato fries. But every topping is more money. read more

Super-large menu with good alternatives for vegans and other non-meat eaters. The fake burger was delicious and looked more like a burger than my sons regular burger. They have the best gluten free sweet potato fries I've ever had!!! I love the fact that they have a full paleo and gluten free menu!!!! It makes it so much easier going out to eat with all of my food allergies!!! The fries were crispy and fresh ! I was impressed because it was a take out order! Their take out containers were cardboard I believe rather than styrofoam so it prevented the box from sweating so my fries were still crispy and hot and perfect for when I arrived home! I will definitely be back here! The only thing I would change is where guests can pick up their take out orders. There's nowhere to stand and your in everyone's way it feels! It was definitely uncomfortable because it was busy but the food was definitely worth it!! Great music too it's hard to find restaurants that aren't playing the repetitive stuff on the radio! We have been going to the original Blackie's since its inception and just loved the place. Great staff, nice vibe and delicious and creative food choices. Well, last night my husband and I and 2 friends--also Blackie fans--finally went to the new location. It would be redundant to retype the many complaints and bad reviews again. However, I agree with every one of them. The audacity of the serving size of our meals were insulting. My husband had 4, quarter sized scallops, 4 spears of asparagus and 3 grape sized 'heirloom' tomatoes for $24. My friend had a smidgen of seared tuna, the tomatoes and a vegetable--$27. My meal was just as small and frustrating. And then the wine. A few eye drops of wine. One was $15, the other $20. Then the how we were treated. We left hungry, broke and pissed off. Very disappointing. I will forever miss the old place and it's personality. The new place has none. Reposting cause it's gone. Not a cool thing to do read more

Visited recently and service was pretty good We seemed to be ignored as a table of two vs the higher dollar table of four on either side We tried the Buffalo Chicken Dip and it was good and very rich and filling We also ordered a Reuben and a pizza We ended up ordering way too much The Reuben was great Pizza was good but not my fave I recommend! Weirdly someone said they were us and took our table so we had to wait longer That kind of sucked read more

My friends and I planned a lunch date for an early Saturday afternoon and one friend recommend Blackie's Bulldog Tavern as our destination. I'd never heard of it before, but she had been once before and was very impressed with the food. I was the first to arrive at 12:30 p.m. and was able to pick the table in which to dine. My first impression of Blackie's is that it was a typical bar/restaurant atmosphere with a full bar and several tables and TV's throughout; all of the TV's were airing sports (barf.) The ladies room was clean and nicely decorated... yes, I notice these things :) Our server was wonderful; within two minutes of having taken my seat, she was over taking my drink order, bringing menus and a highchair for the baby as well. She was consistent throughout our entire 3 hour stay at Blackie's and she was patient, sweet and helpful. I'd say that at the busiest point during our visit, there were a good number of people in the restaurant and our service never went interrupted. I wasn't starving, so I just ordered a Caesar Salad; it wasn't the best I've had... the lettuce was completely drenched in dressing which kind of made it inedible; I only took a few bites before I decided I was done with it. My friends, on the other hand, both ordered the Barbecue Chopped Chicken salad and were very impressed with it; the both cleaned their plates. The menu is typical bar food with a slight American Fusion twist. There were items that I'd never seen on a menu before, such as Deep Fried Pickles, Apple Pie Burger and a Hummus Pizza... so I give them points for creativity. Would I come back here again? I'm not sure. I'd be willing to try an actual meal as opposed to a salad and I would hope I'd be more impressed with it than I was my first time around. read more

Where do I even begin!? I've been going to Blackie's for over 5 years - and drive all the way from Walpole, MA! Not only does their menu have something for everyone (paleo, GF, keto, comfort food and more), but it's DELICIOUS and they use quality ingredients. The service is top notch and the owners treat you like their family. If you think the old place was great you have to check out the new location - it's hard to put into words. I've recommended Blackie's to all my friends and family and I've been thanked over and over for it. Ps- the drinks are killer too! read more

The only way to describe Blackie's is AMAZING! The new location is so beautiful and they still remain to have an impressive menu with so much variety and the service is nothing less than excellent. Their new pizza bar is so cool and delicious!!! A must try!!! read more

Honestly don't even try to call this place on a Saturday night. Called to check the wait time for and the guy said it would be 30 minutes. Got in and the girls said it would be 1hr 30 minutes to 2 hours. I'm sorry but that is such a major time discrepancy and apparently they don't have good communication with their staff. Don't even bother calling, they lied and I even mentioned it to the hostess and she said yup. read more

The best way to describe the food here is "delicious, indulgent comfort food with a twist." This is not where to go for a light meal (yes, they have salads, but even a good number of those are a bit over the top) but for one to thoroughly enjoy with friends and just be good with the fact that you are indulging. For example, take the "pretzels and cheesy" which are butter brushed pretzel sticks with a spicy nacho-like cheese sauce. And they aren't messing around with the butter - they are practically dripping. This is a place that has a burger with mac and cheese on top of it. I almost got it but went with the blackie burger instead. This is a really great burger - extremely satisfying and rich. On a Thursday night, the place was packed, with multiple TVs going, and someone in the corner playing acoustic music that you could barely hear over the din of the restaurant. I haven't been in a place this loud in a really long time - this is not a place to go for a quiet, romantic dinner, that's for sure. read more

The gluten free, paleo and even regular menus listed were outstanding. Outside of the disgusting stench of rotting musty bar rags after you walk a minute through the door that only gets worse as you get closer to the bar, the cheeseburger rangoons were decent which was palatable considering the calamari was so salty i didn't touch it after the first piece to taste it. Three light bulbs were out in the lights that drop down over the bar. Instead of touting the paleo menu in every breath, pay attention to the "little things" because they are the ones that will keep your customers. Too much competition these days and I am happily taking my business elsewhere. read more

I definitely like this place. Consistent great menu awsome flavors. I had a burger last time and it was great. This time I got the fish tacos that were also great except for the raw purple onions in the slaw. They were way too over powering. The pickled onions are definitely good enough. Great fresh modern pub food! read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food was incredible and the staff was attentive and just plain awesome.

Horrible Place. They do not know how to treat their customers. Pretty pathetic. Will not recommend this place at all.

Came here with my coworker friends. Everything was very good- except my soup. The waitress insisted that it was Tuscan bean wedding soup. It was clearly chili- but like I said, she insisted. read more

While I realize they have just opened in their new larger location, it's still not a place you can just drop into for the bar side. They were holding bar seats for people who couldn't be seated for dinner. Also, in the dining room, every time the kitchen doors open you can hear all the shouting going on. I suspect they turned up the music to cover that but the music is loud. Ask questions about the items on the menu. Scallops on a bed of vegetable medley turned out to be all corn. All that said, I wish them well and will try again when "the dust settles". read more

Went for lunch and was asked if we had a reservation. We didn't but was able to get seated right away at the pizza bar . Ordered clean green salad which was basically a kale salad . It was supposed to have quinoa but I think it was left out .. and the description said fresh strawberries and pomegranate arils . There was one strawberry sliced into about five pieces and no pomegranate arils . The salad was very good though . But overpriced at $16. Iced tea was $4. So lunch of kale salad and iced tea cost $20 plus tax and tip . If you add a protein to the salad it's another $5-$10. My friend had a different salad $12 plus added tofu $5... so $17 for her salad plus tax and tip . Staff at the pizza bar was friendly and it was cool to watch the pizzas being made . Very nice atmosphere. But pricey . I would go back to try other items on the menu . read more

An interesting off-the-beaten-path sports burger bar with an off-the-beaten path kind of menu. What they lack in ambiance and convenience, they make up for with super good burgers and interesting and unusual menu items. On a recent, busy Friday, I had a delicious apple burger that included bacon, cheese and maple mayo on a pretzel roll -- not something I've seen anywhere else, and was happy to see it served with homemade English pub-style fries -- a personal favorite. Even the RI-style calamari we ordered as an appetizer was pretty darned good, too. The only true negative were my wife's onion rings (or should I say onion Frisbees) which were so large they fell off the plate (which she wouldn't had minded so much if the thick, heavy batter hadn't been flavorless.) The place certainly has some negatives -- it's small, a bit noisy when busy, and has way too many TV's. But the food is good and unique, and despite these minor drawbacks, you'll enjoy the visit. read more

Pretty awesome. I had this insanely amazing kale salad (the best kale salad I've ever had) & the apps were also great (tried the pretzel w/ beer/cheese dip & the hummus plate that also came with a really nice tzatziki). The only con was that the piece of salmon I got wasn't very fresh and it actually made me pretty sick (as in, I threw up a lot!), which is why I'm downgrading Blackie's to 3 stars vs. the 4 I want to give it. Fish incident aside, the rest of the food was flavorful and great. read more

The food has always been great here, but every time I've tried to go it's incredibly packed. It's a sign of good business, but not ideal when trying to go and have a meal. I really respect their Clean Living menu, which has many paleo, gluten-free, keto, and vegan options. Delicious food that's also healthy? Double win! There really is something for everyone here. read more

Pulling up at Blackie's seemed so random. Is it customary in Rhode Island to just put your car anywhere you feel like? Overall, I liked the pretzel appetizer a lot as well as the sweet potato fries. The deep-fried Oreos, which I first tried last year at the Orange County Fair, seemed more like a dare than real food. The only disappointing part of the meal, however, was my sandwich: a drippy, tangy gorgonzola cheese sandwich. Gross! Everything else was good enough to salvage the experience though. read more

I am SO happy that someone was finally able to do something with "the old Ron's Spaghetti House"! We like the modern décor downstairs and fell in love with the lounge upstairs. This is EXACTLY where I want to be for a late night drink. We've now been here three times- twice for dinner and once for drinks. The drinks are stiff and I was pleased to know the servers had knowledge of the wines. The food is very good- I just wish the menu was a little more diverse, therefore only 4 stars. I'm not sure if they're going for tavern or something nicer but it's a nice combo of both just the same. The meatloaf is very tasty and you actually get gooey cheese in it! I was worried about the onions overpowering it but not at all. The Calamari is tasty and tender. There were five of us so I don't remember what everyone ate but we were all very pleased and anything that wasn't eaten was good enough to take home! You MUST have the cornbread appetizer!!!!! TO DIE FOR!!! Can't wait to go back and we hope they continue to thrive! Best wishes, Ladies, and cheers! PS- Heads up on valet parking, we've seen him drive people's cars and wouldn't recommend it. read more

Going to bump this to 5 stars. Went back and had the Turkey Sandwich.....unbelievably good. Friends had the Squid and Steak sandwiches, also terrific. Although saying squid and terrific in the same sentence is nuts. I mean, who eats that stuff?!?! Blackie's got away from it's roots of creative pub fare for a reasonable price. Twenty-two dollar burgers with fries is out of the question here in Smithfield. A few years back I got corned beef and cabbage on Saint Patrick's day. The corned beef was boiled and finished off in a smoker. It was the best I ever had. There was so much on the plate that I couldn't finish it. It cost twenty-two dollars. If they want to be an expensive burger and pizza place they should have moved to Providence. Smithfield, as they now must surmise, is good and plenty. read more

Although I love the food here and appreciate that they are catering to modern diets such as paleo and keto, the price is too high for what you get! Due to a food allergy I have to eat dairy free, so I ordered the paleo club burger. I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering a club but received one flat burger on a small grain free tortilla for $21! AND that included no sides! It's challenging enough to live with a food allergy, but it feels like I'm being taken advantage of by requiring speciality food. I understand grain free tortillas cost more but that's a significant up-charge! read more

Not impressed. I ordered take- out because I know it gets packed there which is great for them so I never mind take-out. I ordered a steak and cheese on a GF torpedo roll with fries. 23$ ?! Ok fine, I don't mind paying for awesome food. So, I open it up and it's on a wrap, probably corn because I said gluten free and I literally could have eaten it in 4 bites. Reminded me of egg rolls. For 23$ , come on Blackie's. And I'm pretty sure I was charged extra for the gluten free torpedo roll which I didn't get probably because it wouldn't even fill up anything close to a roll . The steak was good from the four bites I tasted but no way was that portion size worth it. read more
