Best restaurant!!! The large gluten-free menu is nice. All food is made with quality, fresh ingredients and it never disappoints! Service has been good every time. The decor and atmosphere are pleasant too. Now if only you guys could pull offer a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert! read more

Blackie's has amazing food! And the best part is that they have a menu for all dietary restrictions (Keto, vegan, paleo, etc). Often times the service is slow so you have to plan accordingly but the food is so good that it's worth it. They have a nice bar area and an outdoor seating area too. Looking forward to their new, larger location down the street soon! read more

Amazing!!!! Been here several times and everything from the hostess, to the bar, to the servers, to the food is a solid 5 stars!!!! The menu has a little of everything and the food is always fresh and amazingly seasoned! This is a gold mine for foodies everywhere! The flatbreads, the fish and chips, the ribeye Marsala, I mean it's just SO mouthwatering!!! Plenty of beers to choose from and the sangria is amazing also. Kudos to the owners as they have hit the jackpot with this place. No matter if you want to grab a few drinks with friends or dine with your kids, it's definitely a go to place! read more

Nice place inside. Very good beer selection. I had the American as apple pie burger which was very good cage only issue is that it wasn't cooked to medium as ordered. My wife had the peanut butter and jelly burger. She liked it a lot bit also was not cooked to medium. The service was slow as well. Other than that I like the place and will be back. read more

Blackie's - American as apple pie burger - American Near Me - Smithfield, Rhode Island

Had to write a review about blackies because I was so happy with my food and experience there! Went for dinner in a Friday night around 8pm and get seated right away (I downloaded the app and Did the call ahead seating which definitely helps) Upon arrival, the decor at blackies is a little confusing.. It's almost like the restaurant doesn't know if it wasn't to be a sports bar or an eclectic high class restaurant... The lime green walls and fine Italian artwork is strange... But it did not take away from the delicious food! Started with the stuffie... Which was delicious! You could distinguish between the big Chunks of chorizo, clams, and bread... I hate when everything in a stuffie is too minced. For my entree I had the green chile squished burger, which was basically like a taco, quesadilla and burger had a love child. If you have a spicer palette, you will not be disappointed. Lastly, I had the brownie sundae, with was Rich and decadent, just like I was hoping.. Definitely good for sharing. I feel like I need to go back every weekend to try everything on their menu I actually wanted to get! read more

Perfection is the only to describe the place! With a seasonally changing menu, it's always a pleasant surprise (not to mention a difficult task) deciding what to have. Went for a "just because" lunch. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken and delivered within minutes. Decided to go for something different today: Cheeseburger Rangoon. All the features and flavors of a cheeseburger all wrapped in a nice little package. Food was served hot and fast. Server (Demi) was outstanding. Will be back in the near future...maybe tomorrow(?)! read more

Decided to stop in after seeing it on Phantom Gourmet. After siting at our table for 15 minutes without a single acknowledgement from any of the servers around us and watching the table the got sat quite a few minutes afterwards being greeted.....we picked up our menus returned them to the hostess and left. Servers could clearly see us sitting there menus closed not a beverage in front of us. Even if it's not in your section common sense in this industry is a polite " has anybody been over" Oh well we tried they failed. I'm sure the food is delicious sadly this left a sour taste in our mouth . read more

I want to give 3 1/2 stars. My wife and I visited Blackie's for the first time. For me it was the type of place that is clearly better than bar room pub food.....yet was below an upscale place. What does that mean? Simply put, it has good food. The buffalo dip and nachos we had were fantastic. The pizza we had was...good pizza, yet nothing to rave about. Parking: Free and numerous spots Wait time: We were seated quickly, restaurant was busy Service: Very good service Food quality: Good food Pricing: Good food but higher prices. Entree's are around $25 Higher prices should only be on GREAT FOOD. Atmosphere: Clean, busy, noisy. Overall: It's a place that has good food at steeper prices. Would I go back? Yes. Would I likely go to other places first? Yes. Is it worth checking out if it is your first time there? Absolutely. read more

My fiance and I went to Blackie's in June 2014. We were beyond excited to go. Quick tip, you can make same day reservations on the phone instead of waiting - we called 30 or so minutes before we arrived and they could accommodate us. Also, parking lot seems to always be full, but don't be intimidated. We arrived and were seated right away - thank you phone reservation. We ordered the following: Blackie's Buffalo Dip Szechuan Sloppy Joe Mac A' Weenie Summer Squeeze Mojito Pink Lady Martini Normally I would say that Buffalo Dip was amazing, but, to be honest, I've had it a few times before (homemade) and it tastes exactly the same. It's great, don't get me wrong, but I expected something a little more when going out. If you've never had it before, I would definitely recommend it. The handcut potato chips were very good. For some reason, I was craving a Sloppy Joe - blame it on the hormones - so I ordered one. It was just too salty. The portion of the meal was good though. The Mac A' Weenie. I loved the idea of the Mac A' Weenie, looked amazing on their video. When we received it we were terribly disappointed. Really was just Mac and Cheese and Hot Dogs. Nothing to rave about. It was a small dish too. The Pink Lady Martini was average. I've had better. The Summer Squeeze Mojito though, was the star of the night. Absolutely loved it. Best drink I've had in a while. Perfect mix. Loved the freshness of it. All in all, I was pretty disappointed, but now I know what not to order for next time. read more

We LOVE it here!! It's always an amazing experience ! From the staff to the menu and the final product delivered to the table we are always excited to see what's next. The management is attentive and very informed. Our wait was typical especially when we know we are getting amazing food. New place is awesome. We continue to love our experience. Thank you. read more

I've since gone back to Blackies to try out some of their new vegan options and KUDOS! Everything is delicious, especially the vegan nachos. My only request/feedback is you need to have a vegan version of the Meze platter! I've tried to order a vegan version only to be turned down :( read more

Oh my gosh. The food is amazing. I can only describe it as gourmet pub food. The things you would expect but updated and delicious. There was a wait but it was totally worth the wait. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and fun. One of the owners stopped by the tables to chat. We had a terrific dining and social experience. read more

If i could give zero stars i would. I heard so many good reviews and so many horror stories yet, i decided to give it a try. These people/management are as horrible and unprofessional. $18.00 for burnt chicken wings with vinegar and 1/4 teaspooon of crushed peanuts. Iceberg letter with vinegar and oil was $7.00. Buffalo dip with potato chips $14.00. ONE baked potato cut in 1/2 sprinkled with ranch powder $14.00. We went there specifically for the prime rib. All 6 of us ordered the prime rib. Cooked medium/rare. When it arrived 4 were well done and 2 were rare. We complained and was told they could not uncook the well done ones. We went there when they reopened, i waited to write this review in hopes of letting people know, they are rude. read more

I went to Blackie's this past Saturday night with seven friends and was seated right around 5 p.m. The restaurant was pretty full, but there were a couple of empty tables scattered around. We ordered drinks which took a solid 15 minutes to come to the table, and we decided to order dinner quickly because we were trying to make a show for 7 p.m. After ordering dinner (about 4 salads, 2 burgers, and some nachos) we waited a solid 45+ minutes for food to arrive. My friend's burger came out first, and when the waitress put it down my friend started eating a few fries waiting for the rest of our table's meals to come. A minute or two later a different waitress came by and told my friend that the burger had "been run to her by accident" and took it away... while she was eating the fries off the plate. A few minutes later the first waitress came back and brought her a burger that wasn't what she had ordered, and again took it away. As all of our meals were coming out of the kitchen, the first waitress brought my friend back what looked like the original burger and gave it back to her. Overall the meals were really good. But taking away a meal that someone was already eating and happy with? To possibly run it to someone else? I'm not sure how I feel about that. We ate our food really quickly to get to the show on time. Overall an odd experience. read more

My friends and I went to Blackies Saturday night and the food was incredible! I have never had a better dining experience in my life, everything was cooked perfectly! The staff was really friendly and the owner came to our table a few times throughout the meal to check on us and she really made us feel at home. The best appetizer we had were the Junkyard Nachos, they were covered in the best tasting pulled pork and they did not skimp on the toppings. I had the Breakfast burger and was really impressed with the quality and taste. The burger was cooked perfectly, which isnt easy to do with a patty that thick. The cheesecake balls the owner sent over were phenomenal as well, I don't know how they made them so moist. Needless to say we did not leave hungry. We all agree that Blackies is our new "go to" place to eat out and we plan on becoming regulars immediately. Thank you for best food I have ever eaten! read more

I visit this area frequently and over the years have developed a mental short list of favorite restaurants. Blackies is at the top of that list. The decor is nice, the staff always friendly and the food fabulous. My favorites are the ahi tuna burger, and the junkyard nachos but I have tried many menu options and never been disappointed...there are few places I can say that of! We recently arrived at 6pm on an average Wednesday night. There were no special sporting events on or any other reason for Blackies to be busy...but the place was packed! Our group of 7 waited an hour to be seated...but we were all happy to wait, rather than go to any other restaurant in the area. I think that sums up why I am happy to give a 5 star review! Ps. Some people don't realize there is an upstairs room with wonderful ambiance, which is available for private events. read more

We have been there in the past and liked it. Just went there tonight and we were not impressed. My wife got a kale salad that only had 2 strawberries and maybe a 1/2 of a cucumber in it, and a hummus plate with stale pitas. We also got 2 ice teas and a gin and tonic. It came to 48 bucks..... total RIP off! Will not go back. read more

We had high hopes due to all of the positive reviews. Made a reservation and we were sat at a tiny high top table by the bar. The drinks were excellent, though very overpriced. The food was terrible all around. I had the short rib ramen and the beef tasted old, no vegetables at all. Even the garlic bread was drenched in oil and tasteless. Both myself and my boyfriend ended the night with stomaches and regrets. Pretentious, gaudily decorated and insanely expensive. Would not recommend. read more

I liked the food but felt as though the staff were rude they were gossiping up front as we waited past our reservation time next to the cold frigid door. read more

Blackie's is a family favorite. The inside is decorated in a quirky and endearing fashion, and the food is all delicious. The prices may seem steep at first, but once you see the portion you're blown away. I really can't emphasize this enough: the portions are gigantic-entrees, appetizers, all. The menu is eclectic and will suit all palettes. The only reason Blackie's gets a four star is because the service is usually just ok. Granted, it gets pretty busy in the smallish place, but servers do not communicate with their tables well enough. Have often sought out our waitress for 10+minutes before she was found. TLDR: Foods great, portions gigantic making the prices just right. Service is ok. read more

There motto is to expect the unexpected. They lived up to the hype. Nice changes to basic sandwiches. All delicious and friendly staff.

My husband and I visited this tavern this afternoon for the first time because of the high reviews here on Yelp. This is why I love yelp. The rating was spot on. This tavern is really good. We sat at the bar for lunch. I have to say that the bartenders work so well together. This is the first bar I have ever witnessed 3 bartenders work in sync. Helping each other... Picking up.dirty dishes and glasses for each other. It was nice to see. I had the BBQ salad and my husband had the steak sandwich. My salad was delicious ... Fresh. The dressing was sooo good. All thief dressings are homemade. My husband really liked his sandwich as well. They have a good size, well decorated outside deck. The place has class. We are definitely making this one of our regular stops.... Thank you for a great experience. read more

I found this place on my "find me GF" app, which I use religiously to find and rate restaurants that are safe for my food allergies. I was absolutely ahhhhh-mazed by their food! It is seriously delicious, and we have been addicted ever since. What was once a trial spot, is now a regular and our favorite place to dine for all occasions. We simply LOVE the food, and all of their gluten free options have been delicious. The only downside is how busy it is- regardless of trying to reserve a spot, or what day of the week- you will have to wait a while before being seated. So plan ahead! read more

I may have given 5 stars rarely but this place deserves it, Shortrib fettucini was fantastic, wife and I ate at the bar, started with the RI calamari and we have had RI calamari before but this was a bit better and later figured out it was the butter sauce added with the pepperocini that made the difference, bar staff was awesome, this is the first place I have ever been to where the staff are actually sincerely proud of what is produced out of the kitchen and I have a pretty good BS detector. They were just as excited with what we were eating as we were. Clean, if I had a complaint it would be the pot holes in the parking lot, dangerous and poor lighting but that is not the staffs fault. Excellent job....just the experience I want when I dine..... read more

Made my wife go up to this place for our birthdays, and we had the absolute worst service. 90mins and no food and people around us were coming in eating and leaving and all we ordered were a burger and chicken sandwich .. Manager did come over and let us take to food to go cause we wanted to leave so bad .. The food was excellent but the service was terrible read more

Literally so chic and gorgeous. Modern country styles. Fun wait staff. Delicious vegetarian options.

This place is great. Me and my husband come to Blackie's regularly and have never had a bad experience. The burgers are fantastic, and they have a wide selection of foods for people that have dietary restrictions. read more

Service great. Food decent. Up charge on mustard for my Reuben was a little offensive. Serve a sandwich. Serve it with condiments please!

Little pricey. A burger ends up being over $15 when you add just a few toppings. Had a turkey sandwich which was tasty but also $16 that came with only homemade chips that were waaaay too crisp for my taste. Martini was good but no side car which I'm used to. Overall decent but won't rush back. read more

Blackie's holds a very special place in my heart! We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here 3 1/2 years ago! They have a beautiful even space upstairs from the restaurant that has a private bar, pool table, couches, and a TV. They have a separate menu for your event where you can choose to have apps and passed snacks or a sit down meal. They were helpful in the planning process and our evening went by without a hitch! That being said, we continue to come back to Blackie's because the food is just awesome! They change their menu a few times a year to fit the season. There is also something here for everyone! Everything I have had has been delicious and the portions are huge! They also have a great seasonal cocktail menu and wine list! I suggest you call ahead and make reservations because it is no secret that Blackie's is awesome and it is always packed! read more

We went here a couple years ago after an afternoon of hiking. We had our son with us who was seven at the time and I recall them giving him a kids menu so that was nice. I definitely think this place is more of a date night or friends night or even a coworker gathering. The food was amazing. The service was superb. The only thing for me is that I had the Rhode Island mentality and it's too far away just to go. But I'm thinking me and the man are way overdue and will be taking a trip there again soon. read more

Dinner out on a Saturday evening. The food is ok, but they change the menu every six months. Ok I can deal with that, I guess. Extremely overpriced! Two people, $55 (w/o tip) 2 sodas $8 Pastrami sandwich and house chips $17 Bacon double cheeseburger with house chips $23 Sales tax, food tax, service charge etc $7 Are you kidding me $55 for basically a lunch??? Now add the tip of $12. So in total cost for two people $67. No wonder they are building another restaurant. This place is a ripoff. They have build your own burgers, great concept but everything is extra, the condiments, the cheese, the lettuce, tomato or pickles. Where in the world should a burger cost $23. No worries we'll never return. read more

Came here on a blustery spring Saturday night. It was freezing upstairs, but it was quiet and the staff were friendly. We got a round of nachos for the table, and I got the signature burger. I feel like I couldn't really focus on the food because I was so chilly - the waitstaff did turn on the heat after we got the check though...just in time for us to leave. The other ladies I was dining with did express that this place is a fan favorite, and it was great comfort food. read more

I've enjoyed the food here a few times and was never disappointed! The worst experience tonight!! I arrived at 557 pm and was told it would be 45 minutes. At 650 still sitting there. Asked the manager how Long again??? He was unsure while I observed empty tables!!! I left and went uo street and enjoyed a beautiful meal with suburb service! Prices at Blackie's are in sane . 15.00 for 3 onion rings!! 17.00 per sandwich!! I did not know this place existed. My sister in law invited us. I thought, eh, why not? Lemme tell ya! The food was FANTASTIC! The breakfast menu is phenomenal!! You can tell the chef/chefs really have a passion for food. I've been several times since and every time I ordered something different and I'm constantly amazed. The service is EXCELLENT!! I've had a different server each time so I know they all care. I'm not even gonna recommend anything because start at the left side of the menu and order and keep coming back and ordering more because it get better every time. The place is clean and organized and well staffed. I've been getting lucky lately. Another five star review all the way!! read more

Food is good but service is not. We ordered take out, which was wrong (not sure why we thought it would be right). I'm disappointed because I had high hopes for this place because of the reviews and recommendations. But for whatever reason, our server paid no attention to us, spending all of her time chatting with other tables. They must be regulars, but then she would come back to us and her smile and chattiness disappeared. It felt bizarre! We're new to the area and figure it must be a locals-only kind of place, not really sure what the deal is. Anyway, the drinks were quite good, albeit a bit overpriced. The food was just OK. My tacos were greasy and weirdly sweet. My boyfriend had carbonara that just missed the mark. Our bill was nearly $100 and was absolutely not worth it. Would try again and hopefully have a different experience. read more
