This location has been one of my most visited Mexican restaurants. The reason for frequentness is not only because the food but because of out standing staff. Manny(bartender), Jair, and el Senior Manuel are the faces of this restaurant for me. They may be the reason for some the enjoyable visits ! As a Mexican women I am very picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food. The dishes that are in my constant rotation and would recommend are: tortilla soup, sopes de carnitas, enchiladas de mole,and as appetizer cheese dip with beens( delicious combo created by Jair). We stopped by here last night on taco Tuesday. We ordered the 6 tacos and shared them along with a couple of Corona beers. The pork tacos were spicy and the chicken tacos not so much. There are free chips and salsa. I liked the chips but was just ok on the salsa, but being from Texas, there are definitely some bias. I will say the service was real good, so thank you for that! Came for cinco de mayo yesterday. Service was good given the busy holiday with the restaurant being packed. The staff was competent, effective and you can tell they were organized and prepared, not their first rodeo. They got Us in for a walk in waitlist within 15mins which shocked me as we were 4th in line on their waitlist link. Having a waitlist link was impressive in itself tbh. Love the communication for customers... showing the wait time and which spot in line you have. Chips and water came out quick even with the packed restaurant. At the end, I believe a manager, came by to ask how our dining experience was and to clear the table. Love that ! Nice that the manager jumps in to help and takes time to check in with customers. I was very impressed by their operations. I had el pastor tacos which the cinnamon-ish flavor profile wasn't my taste but the tacos were good if you enjoy that, came with black refried beans and rice. Rice was really good! I had the spicy Diablo margaritas with tajin rim and really enjoyed that as well. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the ribeye tacos from Condesa. The presentation was very unappetizing, and the quality of the food was absolutely unacceptable. I also don't understand why the tacos were served on a cutting board? One of the tacos consisted mostly of fat, which disgusted me even more. I genuinely don't understand how a restaurant could serve something like this and consider it acceptable. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Condesa has multiple locations in RI. I went to the Smithfield location (the other one is in Warwick) and it had a nice modern contemporary Mexican theme. It felt clean inside with lots of seating. They share the parking lot with multiple other businesses so parking was limited. The service was quick and I got seated right away. The staff were friendly and attentive. They serve complimentary chips and salsa to start. For an appetizer, I ordered the chicken quesadilla which was large enough to even be a main course. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche for an app and it had a nice tangy flavor from the lime juice and onions. For an entree, I ordered the chicken fajitas and it was a good size portion, flavorful, with plenty of sautéed peppers & onions. It came with 3 tortillas but they were small so I would ask for a couple more next time. The margaritas were great and adds a nice touch to a Mexican dinner. The grand finale! Was the HOMEMADE churros and black raspberry ice-cream. Did I mention both were homemade?! YUM. The churros were super light and super fresh with plenty of cinnamon and sugar on them. The other night my GF and I made our way back to Condesa for dinner since we loved it our first find and our second time was no different! Highly recommend the chicken fajitas! Loaded with tender chicken, peppers & onions (ask for extra shells). We also had barbocoa tacos that weren't bad but was a bit dry and skimped on the portion for the size of the shells. The HOMEMADE churros were the homerun though! Super delicious covered in cinnamon sugar and fried perfectly with a crisp outside and light inside! I've been coming to this restaurant for years, but after my recent experience, I won't be returning. In December, they had a promotion where you'd get a $10 bonus for every $50 gift card purchased. I bought $300 in gift cards, expecting to receive $60 in bonuses. When I paid, they gave me six separate bonus cards--but instead of actual gift cards, they were business cards stating they could only be used between January 1-31, with all restrictions, something that was never mentioned before I purchased. When I tried to use them in January, I was told I could only redeem one per table--even though we had separate checks! On top of that, when they applied the bonus card, they didn't even take the full $10 off the bill. Oh, and I had a Christmas party here a week prior to all of this happening... you'd think they would take care of their customers. Photos of the bill, not even taking the full $10 off and the bonus cards that are a joke! Now I'm stuck with useless bonus cards that expired and a gift card for a restaurant I no longer want to support. This is a clear example of poor customer service and misleading promotions. So I was very pleased with every aspect of this restaurant. First off the atmosphere was great- it's clean, good music in the background and the decor is modern. The service is really good and everyone was attentive to the customers needs. The food was tasty and served nice and hot. Honestly I don't drink but the beverages look delicious. This was my third time eating at this restaurant and there's a specific reason that I don't eat there more frequently since it's only five minutes from where I live. They have an absolutely huge parking lot, but this restaurant is very successful and very busy and they are located directly next-door to another extremely successful and busy restaurant, leaving very few parking spots available and even more so, fewer handicap spots for disabled people like myself. The ambience is pretty nice here and they have a large dining room, allowing lots of patrons quick seating. The dishes I've tried so far are very good and I thought the prices were about average. I definitely thought the prices were fair for the portion sizes and the quality of the food. Service here is always good, so I have no complaints there. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the area. read more

I have seen more than one customer look in horror and delight all at the same time. Andre the Giant would struggle with it! I do enjoy the lunch portions, as they are one sitting manageable! The place is beautiful. You'd never think it was a Mexican Restaurant because the layout of the restaurant is just very modern and doesn't display the usual Mexican flair. For my drink I ordered the spicy cucumber margarita (which I make on the Dailey :) ) and it was delicious! We sat at the bar. The service was good. There was a lovely girl making guacamole at a small station in the corner. My taco entree came with 3 steak but I asked if they would substitute one of them for Shrimp. They were fine with that. They asked if I wanted a flower taco or corn taco. I chose corn because that was what they said is the norm. Honestly the corn taco was so super soft and it was very hard to handle. Terrible service-- probably the worst I've ever experienced. 20 minutes to order a drink, then waited for for another 20 minutes to order food, and 30 more minutes to get the bill. (We could have just left without paying and honestly, no one would have noticed...that's how little anyone was paying attention!) It was not busy and the server was missing most of the time. My biggest - only - complaint about Condesa is that I live too far away from it and don't visit Smithfield often enough to dine here as much as I'd like. I came here twice in one weekend, for lunch and dinner, and I was very satisfied both times. I enjoyed the decor, the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks, and I especially enjoyed the service. The staff are all energetic, professional, friendly and attentive, and it was a pleasure to be served by them. Both meals started with what could be - if you let it - an almost bottomless bowl of warm tortilla chips accompanied by a relish tray featuring refried beans and a variety of salsas of varying spiciness and smokiness. The beer, wine, and sangria list is extensive, but I zeroed in on the cocktails. They have an interesting variety of margaritas as well as their own take on some classic cocktails. The dinner menu is available during lunchtime, but the lunch offerings are a great deal. Both meals came on 2 plates, one containing all the sides and/or fixings. My Saturday dinner, the Molchajete, was a bubbly concoction of shrimp, beef, chicken, and ground chorizo, cheese and cactus (!), with leftover sauce and chorizo going onto the rice, and they definitely kicked it up a notch. The house mix is great (some places it's hit or miss- not here. Top notch). Turnaround time was Fantastic for Friday night rush (6:00pm). I heard about this restaurant on my community FB page when someone else asked for a recommendation for good Mexican. Several people said, "Condesa!" So I figured it was worth a try. Admittedly, this isn't in the best location. It's in the same space as a gas station and pizza place and the outdoor patio is basically in a parking lot. Indoors is much more pleasant, large and open with separated booths and tables. Immediately from perusing the menu, I could tell this was a slightly different type of Mexican food than I was used to. Growing up in AZ, we had a lot of cheese-slathered, beefy, fried chimichangas. At Condesa, they have a lot of seafood offerings with toasted pumpkin seeds and pineapple salsa. I'm guessing it's more derived from a coastal region of the country. I love the uniqueness of it. The flavors are light and spicy. I am absolutely addicted to the Cabo burrito that is stuffed with juicy shrimp and covered in smoky, mole sauce. If you're used to the more cheese-slathered, enchilada-sauce covered-type Mexican, this might not be your thing. But if you'd like to try something new, I would definitely recommend it. read more
