Friday Night.... Blue Hair weekly Dinner with my friends and a Fire-Pit ending. I know a little about Food and I have to say on the word of my friend Victor he suggested the "Village Tavern" on Route 6! I have to say it's a local watering hole but, it's quaint and comfortably laid out! The menu is Strong with a wonderful variety of dynamic offerings. I have to admit the Bean and Sausage and soup was spectacular( definitely a Fall/ Winter winner) the Drink: high end Single Malt Scotch was substantial pour( to say the least) and the Side Caesar salad was exceptional and ample size for what accompanied the dinner. That, was their 10 ounce tenderloin, perfect medium rare with a cognac cream sauce. Sides were, exceptional Rich mashed potatoes and the best way I've ever had brussels sprouts, which were mandolin sliced. That's my Review and Dana was an extremely pleasant and attentive to not only us but, to the all her other tables. My brother and wife took my wife and I to the Village Tavern for lunch. Wow, amazing food. Atmosphere was a little small but quaint. Very Tavern like. Service was excellent but the FOOD was fantastic. I had the best Steak Sandwich I've ever had. Perfectly cooked. My wife had Mediterranean Pizza, she loved it. My brother had a perfectly made Rubin, off the bone and tender corned beef. We had a wonderful time. The place got full of people very quickly and i wasn't surprised. Well worth trip. Small, yet cool place with a warm, lodge feel. Full service bar with lots of craft drafts. Started my lunch with a small bowl of clam chowder and it was excellent! Then onto their Tavern Club which featured their in-house roasted turkey - delicious! Side of coleslaw was lackluster and tasteless. Service was a bit slow but adequate. read more

Fun atmosphere and great food. The parking lot was packed. We were concerned walking in, but there was enough room for our party of 3. We ordered 1/2 order of beet, spinach and goat cheese salad and 1/2 order of the famous nachos, which the bartender/server offer to do for us so we could try more items. We also had crab cakes, oven toasted chicken flatbread, and Thai chicken dumplings. The beet salad was surprisingly delicious, we loved the dressing and how it paired with the beets. The Thai dumplings were much bigger than expected, the sauces complimented well, that would be a meal on its own. Fig chicken flatbread was really flavorful too. Crab cakes were a hit. Bartender and server was on top of everything with a packed bar. Plenty of parking We will be back. read more

Wow, this place wasn't on my radar, but my wife and I had to meet our daughter halfway from home and same distance from UConn. Our meeting spot was exactly at VT. Anyway, to start, we had calamari and jumbo shrimp, calamari was seasoned well and the sauce for the shrimp was unique, I think horseradish mixed in. I had the pistachio salmon and it was perfect. It's easy to overcook salmon, but it was moist and tender. Wife had the tenderloin and wanted it med rare and it was cooked exactly as she wanted. The sauce was so good too. Daughter had the chicken Marsala and it was so tasty and the sauce wasn't runny like we've had at other places. As far as service, great! Drinks, great! Portions, great! This is a popular local spot in Scituate, right next to Scituate famous pizza on route 6 and 116. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. Inside, it's a cozy space with intimate tables and a long bar. Whether you're a local or just an occasional visitor, the staff makes you feel warm and welcome. They have rotating drink and food specials, along with a decent assortment of beer, both local and popular brews. If I had to describe this in a sentence, I would say it's an upscale Chelo's with a better atmosphere. For what you get in quality and size and portions, the price is more than reasonable and the food is pretty good. A great spot for a casual date or a meet-up with friends. After patronizing this place for years, this afternoon -- after being seated at a table by the bartender-- we waited for quite some time...a server finally asked who seated us, and when I asked if she was our server, got quite the snotty attitude. We decided to leave, and as we left, got a sarcastic "bye". Will NEVER go back. An absolutely shocking display of unprofessionalism. This little restaurant is worth the ride. The bar is fairly large, but is usually always full. The bar has a great daily selection of beers in the can and on draft. The bartenders are awesome and always have great recommendations and a cocktail menu. The menu has plenty to choose from and there is always a great list of choices on the daily special menu. I usually order off the daily specials and I have never been disappointed. My go to if I don't know what to order is the steak sandwich...it's made with the tenderloin so it is super tender and it's delicious. I can't say enough good things about this place. They definitely have it figured out, a true tavern with top notch food and great service. I stop here for lunch multiple times a week and never miss the opportunity to stop in for a nice dinner! Worth mentioning that they do not own a freezer, so all the food is fresh! I strongly recommend the Bentley Burger, truthfully the best burger i ever had, it hits the spot every time! I usually order it with the side mixed green salad. We went here for the first time. We decided we would be back. This is a local tavern where everyone knew everyone (except us!). We started with a couple of drinks, both reasonably priced. I had chicken piccata, and I had my side as pasta with red sauce. Typically, if you get the pasta choice, it is with the chicken over the top with the piccata sauce. The other choice was potatoes and vegetables. My husband has pasta Bolognese, served over large tortelloni. We came home with leftovers. The menu isn't super big, but there are pasta, chicken dishes, salads and sandwiches. There are appetizers and specials, too. There were only 2 people working- the bartender and the waiter, who also bartended, but he had the whole room, only a few empty tables, under control. We'll be back!! read more

Good spot for a family night out! Food was good, I got the salmon, which came on a bed of rice with mango salsa. I liked the addition of the salsa to the dish, it definitely elevated it. Cozy old-fashioned bar atmosphere. Wonderful service and absolutely amazing food at great prices! My husband and I both went with the chicken special of the night which was delicious. He had a very large garden salad with lots of fresh vegetables. I had a Caesar salad with delicious crunchy croutons, lots of freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and a delicious dressing! The sautéed chicken breasts we had were perfect. I don't remember the sauce that they were served in, but I wanted to lick my plate lol. My husband chose the mashed potatoes and asparagus and was extremely happy with both. I had the asparagus and sautéed green beans as my side dish and was equally as happy. We pulled into the parking lot as we were very hungry and still had a long drive home after a day in Newport. We weren't quite sure what to expect from the outside, but it was an absolutely great experience and we look forward to going back as soon as possible! read more

Food is good and reasonable. This WAS one of our go to places for the past two decades. They unfortunately could not care less about their patrons. They left two elderly people with canes standing at the door waiting for twenty minutes while a table of four sat empty, also with two other couples also waiting. We left and went to the Trap. Took my friend their for the turkey club, which I've ordered hundreds, if not thousands of times, waited around 25 minutes and it and the fries were cold. Told the waitress. She asked if we wanted something else and we said no, we wanted the club and fries hot or at least a version of warm, lol, and she told us the cook said that was the only one we could get. I got egg on my face over this place. My wife and I ate there several years ago, after moving into Johnston. It was just ok. I don't remember what I had, but we just thought 6 out of 10. Well, we ate there last night! OMG! Everything was amazing! I got a great cocktail, our crap cakes were good, I have had them in many restaurants and outside of Michael Jordan's cakes, these were as good as any. I had the pork belly special and wife had the flat bread. We tried each others meal. She loved mine as much as I did, and hers was pretty dang good also. I just had my leftovers and got to enjoy it twice.( microwave at power of 3 and for 3.5 minutes) It warmed up very nice. We will be going back soon. Awesome night out! read more

We have been here many times over the years, the food is always consistent and pretty delicious. I definitely love the mixed green salad and this time around I tried the Chicken Masala. It was huge and very delicious. The menu doesn't change so if you find something you like, definitely don't worry about it not being there next time. New Go-To Spot This place is close to my house and it's a real gem. The food is always great and they always have good beer specials. It's a small place and is always busy, so expect to wait a bit to sit, but it's worth it. One issue with the place is the parking lot, it's a disaster. First off.... the food is good... not great. However, if you are not a local.... don't sit at the bar. Bar tender never acknowledged us when we first sat down... talking to his regulars. The women who I guess was the waitress literally looked right through us instead of saying hi when she occasionally came behind the bar. The place is tiny..... tight fit at the bar with tables right behind it. They have a nice fireplace and I so wish the bar tender and waitress were more welcoming as it has a great location right on Route 6 on our way home to CT. Like I stated in the beginning the food was pretty good. I had a Steak Sandwich with cheese & mushrooms. My wife had a Veggie wrap. Both came with fries which were ok... not hot. I just can't get over the lack of pleasantries. We felt very much like we weren't welcomed... that they like only the locals. About six years ago, we stopped at Village Tavern in the way Bach from a gymnastics meet in Rhode Island. That experience turned this gem from a place that we would simply drive by into a must stop destination any time we are nearby. Fresh, seasonal ingredients, generous portions and delicious food all around. Our favorites include the calamari and the burger. While many places offer these classics, few do them as well. This place is kinda off the beaten path and really blends in unless you know about it. Wanted to hit up the bar after eating next door and I really didn't know what to expect. I figured it was a lot bigger then it was but it was pretty small inside. A decent size bar however and if I had to guess maybe like 10-12 tables for dining. The crowd seemed like regulars and the interior had a really woodsy almost New Hampshire feel to it. I liked it. Steph was bar tending... she was friendly and greeted us right away. The margaritas were good, and a deal at $10 each. Something about this place makes you feel comfortable and just a very chill vibe. I only planned on having 1 drink but after 3 margs, 3,shots and 3 hours later clearly I was having a good time LOL. It was just easy to chat up people next to you and next thing you know we're all doing rounds and getting loud. I love places like that. Didn't try the food, I definitely will be back to though.
