Another spot we hit for the first time and another nice gem. Walk in the doors and there's something just inviting about it, it's funny, kind of hard to pinpoint but you just want to go sit at the bar. Mind you, plenty of spots if the bar isn't your thing. Kind of your classic bar decor, plenty of TVs making it a cool spot to watch a game. We did choose the bar, was moderately busy, but our bartender was quick to greet us, get us menus and drink list, so was instantly impressed. I went with a standard Moscow Mule which was made quickly and accurately, refreshing! Wife had the sangria and enjoyed it immensely. Your drinks do not remain empty long, our bartender, wish I got her name, she was fantastic. Frankly, you could tell all the servers were personable and on their game. The food, very good! Landed on the chicken parm sub, delicious! House marina, mozzarella and perfectly cooked chicken, I mean it is really good, with hand cut fries that are surprisingly delicious, Wife had the steak n cheese and really enjoyed it. Quite a few good places in this area, glad we found it! Highly recommend! Went with my friend on a Saturday night. It was freezing out so some drinks and comfort food were an order. Since it was before 9 pm they had a selection of $5.00 martinis and we both chose the Lemon Drop. The bartender made it perfectly. We decided to split the short beef grilled cheese and an order of pink vodka penne with grilled chicken. Both were excellent. I'll definitely return again to try more in their menu.

I have been a regular at this bar for at least 10 plus years. It's very laid back and the staff is very welcoming. You will often see the owner Pete making his way around to say hello and ask how everything is. I'm not sure when the transition occurred exactly but they acquired a new chef who is excellent. The menu is no longer your typical bar food. There's many options to choose from. I brought a friend in with my tonight who is gluten free and she was very pleased at how many options she had to choose from. She said it was pretty much double from what she is typically offered. We both got the penne alla vodka (here with gluten free pasta) and our other friend got the Asian stir fry. Everything was excellent. I've honestly had a better pasta dish here for $14 than I have at various other Italian restaurants where I've paid $10 more for the dish. The bar also offers a lot of weekly specials. Monday's they have sliders and 1/2 priced martinis, Tuesday's is taco night, Wednesday .50 cent wings and tenders, Thursday but one pizza get one half off, and Friday 1/2 priced apps between 4-6. As far as some other negative reviews, the staff here is not rude. This is a comfy neighborhood bar with a lot of regulars. If there's ever been a rude staff member you won't see them around for long....

I have to say it's a local watering hole but, it's quaint and comfortably laid out! The menu is Strong with a wonderful variety of dynamic offerings. I have to admit the Bean and Sausage and soup was spectacular( definitely a Fall/ Winter winner) the Drink: high end Single Malt Scotch was substantial pour( to say the least) and the Side Caesar salad was exceptional and ample size for what accompanied the dinner. That, was their 10 ounce tenderloin, perfect medium rare with a cognac cream sauce. Sides were, exceptional Rich mashed potatoes and the best way I've ever had brussels sprouts, which were mandolin sliced. I've seen on social media that people complained about the new location having mainly street parking - we both found parking easily on the street - quit yer b*tchin' people lol. Besides I believe they have a lot behind the restaurant that we didn't have to use but it's there if needed. We were the only ones there when we first walked in but more patrons came in as the night went on. Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. Absolutely will return!

The building is smallish and located on a corner. A small parking lot is located on busy Hartford Ave, with a building entrance on that side that leads into the first of two bar areas. Also, a huge outdoor seating area, under a tent runs along one side of this parking area. So they have lots of room to enjoy a summer evening outside. We arrived late afternoon between meal times. The bar was full except for two seats. Other than the bar, the tables and booths in this area were empty (the other bar was not staffed at this hour). We like sitting at the bar and talking with the regulars. We learn so much about the area this way. Even in our own state! The majority of our bar-mates and the bartender were very friendly and we had some lively conversations. The building itself is old and much of the original dark wood remains along with a big fireplace. The ladies room is right at the end of the bar, is small and older and everything works. Full bar, beer on tap or in cans and wine. They have a nice bar-food menu. I chose sweet potato fries as my side while my dining companion chose regular fries. Both were good, as were our sandwiches (au jus and Big bird) Good quality and tasty. The booths began to fill as we were leaving and the barkeep was also their waitress, so she has a big area to cover. The regulars are very well known to each other and the staff so if you sit at the bar you may feel like the 'odd man out'. We enjoyed our visit and plan to return to try some of their other food offerings.

It has almost a cult-like following after reading the reviews. In my experience, everything I have ordered was okay ... but nothing incredibly amazing vs. the price. I have not seen higher menu prices outside of Manhattan. Two sandwiches and one beer came to $78 after the tip. You read that correctly ... a burger with fries, a pulled pork sandwich with side salad and the cheapest draft beer on the menu ... $78!!! The wings/tenders were over $20 ... in fact, other than the side upgrades, nothing on the menu was under $20. If you are charging $25 for a 'diner burger' and fries, it better be an amazing burger. Mine was no better than Five Guys and less tasty than a Shake Shack. Given the prices, one wouldn't expect that you'd get potato chips with your burger. In order to get French fries ... it's a $5 upcharge. A side salad is $9. I don't mind paying more for quality ... and Blackie's quality is probably high as their meats, vegetables, potatoes, etc. all list the origin place. However high the quality is, for me anyways, the food doesn't seem much different taste-wise, than anywhere else that is much less expensive. Having said that, the portions are huge. The nachos look like they are meant for an entire table and everything is served on metal cafeteria-style trays. Good for them though because the place is huge and always packed. The crowd here is very typical 'Rhode Island'. Expect to see a lot of anchor tattoos, lifted Jeeps with no doors in the parking lot, young 20 - 40 year old crowd who probably played high school football or baseball back in the day and still enjoy telling stories about it. There are no shortage of cross-fitters here. There is a nice buzz of conversation and energy ... but this is not the place you want to go if you don't like crowds. Inside is weird. The walls are painted black and the chairs/tables look like something in a boutique hotel. It looks a little more like a corporate hotel lobby or wedding function hall vs. a restaurant ... especially given the typical crowd. This is not the sports bar it appears to be on the outside. Overall, my 3-stars may seem harsh. But that's an average score ... and honestly, my food has always been average. Maybe I need to try the pizza. If you have deep pockets and like huge portions, you probably won't be disappointed in this place. The service is great, although 2 people working a packed bar, you will wait a bit if you need anything. Also, I came to watch the big game and for some reason they hung pendant lights which dangle down from around the bar. While they make everyone look better, the TVs are blocked by the lights. Very odd.

Luckily, there was a perfect corner of the bar had just opened & we grabbed the seats. The atmosphere was convivial, upbeat & super comfortable, despite the crowd. Service was fabulously friendly & competent - the bartender handling the packed house with ease. We decided to go with an array of small plates to try as much as possible. The menu it designed perfectly for grazing & the prices are super reasonable! The selections are definitely on the comfort-food side with a strong southern hint. Ingredients are often locally sourced - something I greatly admire. We began with the a small plate of Pimento Cheese Toast. Just a few bites each but a nice start. Duck Drumettes. The horseradish-y white sauce was delectable! Even my non-duck loving partner was blown away. I was happy to hear that the salad was available in a half portion - enough for a light fresh break to our heavy selections. Next came a much heavier choice - the gravy fries with duck confit. We left off the cheese, but it wasn't missed at all. These were decadent, delicious & super filling! Next time we'd get a half portion - that would have been plenty! Our final dish was the Shrimp & Grits, but we'd already filled up on the other dishes & ended up asking for this to go. Even reheated, it was a perfectly delicious accompaniment to our brunch the next day! I'd be tempted to order this to-go again for just that purpose. While we didn't imbibe, the cocktail list looked wonderful & the bar was very well stocked. We did enjoy a nice selection from the interesting beer list. The sandwiches that we saw come out looked delicious & huge! We'd love to try them as well. We will be back - this is certainly a new favorite for us!
