    Wings (buffaque)
    Ian M.

Thursday is wings night at the Black Sheep. $.50 wings (sold 10 at a time). Thursday night is my rehearsal night at the Providence Improv Guild which is a few doors down at AS220, so this special may be dangerous as I can see my self here before every rehearsal because the wings were good! Deep fried and lean, the wings were well sauced. I had the buffaque and the buffalo. The buffalo had a nice kick to it. A bit spicier than your typical buffalo which I appreciated. The place has the feel of a nice neighborhood bar, with drag brunch, trivia nights and DJs depending on the night.

Stopped in before an event downtown. The food was amazing. I had the crispy chicken sliders. Chicken was crispy and very tasty. My friend got the grilled chicken Caesar wrap we did half and half. The wrap was so good and I liked that they had crotons in the wrap for extra crunch. The curly fries were good just wish there was more of them. The drinks were spot on, found my new seltzer. Lemon blueberry by whalers. No after taste. The service was great nice and attentive. Loved the vibe music was great a little bob Marley to Cypress Hill. Will return for the music and to test other selections on the menu.

Came here for #rifoodfights #bestburger. Had their burger. For a smash burger, it was very tasty. Also had their bbq nachos. Bbq chicken was good, only weird part was the cheese sauce harden very quickly and was not fluid. Still was very tasty. Service was very good.

    Black Sheep Benny

We came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and there was only 1 table occupied when we walked in. After about an hour, 2 big groups came and the restaurant was becoming more packed. There are plenty of tables for small or big groups which is convenient. We started with the Papa Poutine Fries which is fries with Black Sheep Gravy and melted cheese curds. The portion of this dish could be a whole meal itself. The dish was so good!! The fries were so crispy and you can get that nice cheese pull. It was not smothered in gravy, everything about this was perfect. For entrees, we had the Breakfast Bomb which is shaved steak, mushrooms, onions, pepper, american cheese over tater tots topped with a sunny side up egg. This dish was the bomb! Everything in this dish was great and fresh and crispy and I'm starting to drool thinking about this again. The portion was so huge that I had to bring it back home for the next day. For someone who loves tater tots, this dish was amazing. It tasted like eating cheeseburger with tater tots. My husband had the Black Sheep Benny which is poached eggs, canadian bacon, hollandaise sauce, English muffin with homefries. He enjoyed his meal and brought home a portion of it too. Service was great, the waitress was really attentive and friendly. For the price and the huge portions, I would definitely recommend coming here. The vibe of the place was great too. There are also some interesting cocktails on the menu and I'll have to try it next time.

Oh my goodness what a time I had. I went to The Black Sheep for a Drag Queen Hocus Pocus brunch and I blast!!!! The drag queens were so entertaining, friendly and absolutely funny. The food was great, the drinks were good and I will be returning! For all wondering about parking, due to the location being in the center of Providence- don't worry, there are two large parking lots nearby that makes it a short walk.

Steak and Cheese, trying with and without ketchup (just the way I like my steak and cheese)

Best visit here yet. Not usually a fist choice for me, but this visit's food gave me high hopes for return visits... Stopped in for #RIFoodFights #BestSandwichRI. I grabbed a steak and cheese and because it was Taco Tuesday, I grabbed a fish taco and steak taco. The steak and cheese was one of the best I have had since my neighborhood shop closed over 10 years ago. A lot of steak without a lot of bulky bread. Well mixed cheese with the steak, tender and full of flavor. Would recommend the steak and cheese and the fish taco. The steak taco was good, but not a top contender like the steak and cheese and fish taco. Steak on the taco was convenient because it is cut into small cubes so they don't pull out when biting the taco, but lacked a lil flavor for me, but I am picky with my meats. After eating this meat backed steak and cheese, I wasn't sure I would have work for the tacos, but I devoured both, and the fish taco stood out as a new favorite. I ate them too fast to take any photos of the tacos.

Went for brunch it was a great time. The plates are big but delicious our waitress was nice quick and suggested the steak tots. They had a live DJ and he was playing all the jams! It was the best of vibes the food was delicious the drinks even better definitely do the mimosa bucket! Will be back it was a fun time!

My sister asked for more syrup and they actually charged us $1 for the ramekin of syrup! Never been to a place that charged for more syrup! We weren't even told that it would be an extra cost. For service, the customers need to be awared. My grandma asked for soft scrabble eggs, which was cooked perfectly to her liking. I had the Nashville hot chicken and waffles with fries. The waffles was cooked a bit too long. The chicken was very juicy but was not hot at all. For Nashville hot, I expected a lot more and I was very disappointed. On the menu, it said drizzled with syrup but there wasn't really any syrup at all. If it was for the chicken being juicy, that sandwhich would of been so dry!!! Yet the fries were good! Service could of been better. Our waitress was nice but barely checked on us. When asking for syrup the first time with another waitress, she said ok but went straight to her table that was near us to take orders. So waited another 5 or so minutes until a lady (who seemed like a manager) came by and we asked again.

They were my favorite part. We also ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, which in my opinion was very bleu cheesey, but I also do not have much experience with buffalo chicken pizza. My concern was that the crust was really thin and just not that great, but still had a couple slices. The buffalo sauce was good for sure. We also had the cookie skillet for dessert which was very ooey gooey but perhaps a little too sweet. You may be thinking, "well yeah of course it's sweet, it's a cookie skillet," but it was an over powering sweetness. But it was a really good portion for sharing with my group of three! The vibe here was pretty nice, the old-firehouse-turned-bar is cool and the decor matches the aesthetic well. There are booths in little nooks and others out in the open and I like the variability. They also have a privateish area for private events. Theres even a parking lot! The service was also good, I was there for their Super Bowl watch party, and while it wasn't insanely busy, the servers were very attentive. As I said, I came here for the Super Bowl with some friends. They had raffles going, a DJ, plenty of TVs showing the game, some free swag, and a special menu. It was nice! They had a special drink menu, although it did advertise deals on food which ended up not being true. I had fun watching the game here, and while the place wasn't packed, most of the other spectators were from the local colleges... they were rather annoying, especially by the end of the night. Different groups were arguing with each other by the end, and one kid swore at the DJ for drawing a raffle winner that wasn't one of the college kids. The kids were leaving so the staff didn't need to intervene I'd say. But it brought us non-college student patrons together. Ah, the game day spirit! So if you're looking for a mature crowd, this may not be the place!

You know those spots that make you wonder if anyone in the kitchen has tasted their own food…read morebefore? Ladder 133 is that kind of beautiful disappointment - a place where the bones of something great are buried under the mediocrity of execution. The building itself, a converted Providence firehouse, practically begs you to love it. Red brick exterior, high ceilings, industrial charm that whispers stories of brass poles and midnight alarms. The kind of place that should be serving food as honest as the first responders who once called it home. Instead, what you get is a study in missed opportunities. Take the pizza - please. In a city that practically invented the art of turning basic ingredients into something transcendent, what arrives is a sad testament to lowered expectations. The crust has that unmistakable character of something that's seen the inside of a freezer, though someone's at least tried to jazz it up with some grill marks. The sauce tastes like it's trying to remember what tomatoes were like in a past life, and the cheese... well, calling it forgettable would require remembering it was there in the first place. The bathroom walls tell their own story - the kind of graffiti that speaks less to youthful rebellion and more to management's casual relationship with giving a shit. It's the little things that tell you everything in a restaurant, and unattended bathroom graffiti screams volumes about attention to detail. Yet somehow, like a random act of culinary kindness, they manage to nail the chicken parm sliders. Decent chunks of tender chicken, nestled in pillowy Hawaiian rolls, actually dressed with sauce and cheese that remember their purpose in life. It's like stumbling across a coherent paragraph in a book full of gibberish. The cookie skillet dessert arrives like a cruel joke - burnt to carbon on the outside while maintaining a center so raw it could probably evolve into sentient life if given enough time. It's the kind of dish that makes you wonder if the oven's temperature settings are more suggestion than rule. But here's the thing - the bartender actually did a great job. Quick with refills, genuine smile, the kind of service that makes you want to like the place more than the food allows. It's reasonably priced too, though that feels less like value and more like an apology. Providence has real culinary chops, Ladder 133 is what happens when potential jumps towards the pole and face-plants. Sure, come for a game, throw down a few beers, maybe grab those surprisingly decent sliders. But for the love of all things holy and Rhode Island, get your pizza somewhere else. This is the kind of place that reminds you why the phrase "sports bar food" often comes with built-in expectations of disappointment. At least the building's still cool.

I'm glad I made a reservation! Our server, Ayden, made the whole experience very special! He was personable, available & fun to chat with as he is also a semi-professional wrestler. We were there to try the nachos as they looked delicious when other diners ordered them. WOW! It is a HUGE platter of chips topped with shredded monterey jack, homemade black bean corn salsa, beer cheese queso & a drizzle of guacamole & sour cream. I asked for extra queso because I like everything to be smothered & that it was! Two people could easily make a meal of this platter alone. And we didn't even add any protein (pulled pork, grilled or crispy chicken option)! Not knowing the size of the nachos, we wanted to try something else. I asked Ayden: quesadilla or Nashville naan. He said for former but we felt that we were already doing a Tex-Mex inspired dish so we opted for the latter. On top of naan, crispy chicken with mozzarella, smoked bacon, scallions & house-infused hot honey drizzle. A good amount of toppings & the naan was delightfully chewy. I thought it was going to be Nashville hot spicy given the name but you have to order Nashville hot or buffalo chicken for an additional charge. We added a good amount of Cholula to kick it up a notch! Definitely a good return visit. Thanks Ayden for making us feel special & being such a fun person.
