Dave's has a homey feel with decent prices. I hate to be critical since it always seems packed and seems to be well-loved, but they just keep missing the mark. A cocktail, food, and specials menu are provided, but they have a ton on tap and yet don't tell you what it is. You have to request a menu for non cocktail drinks which is crazy. The servers never seem to know what is on tap when you ask them, either. Service was great last time I visited when we had the lovely Favor helping us. More recently when I had someone else, service was slow and not amazing, I wasn't offered a water refill until I was packing up to leave. She did say she was newer, but the cadence of her visits was strange. I give Dave's extra points for serving their mozzarella Sticks with a homemade marinara (it leans heavy on a green pepper flavor so sadly it's not my favorite, but you can tell some love went into it and it didn't just come out of a jar). I asked for a small container to go for the marinara sauce to go with my leftover mozzarella Sticks since I didn't touch too many of them, but no container was given. I didn't notice until I got home and then was so sad, since eating leftover mozz sticks plain is just not fun...giving you sauce for the road should be a given when I had so much left! Obvious things like this just seem to get missed by the staff; they are always slammed on nights I go and are running around frantically. It seems they just need to add more servers, especially on trivia night - nearly every table was full! Most alarmingly, on my last visit, my friend was given spoiled sour cream with her meal. I ordered a Blue Moon with an orange slice, and somehow both the beer and orange tasted expired and off. I had my friend taste test to make sure it wasn't just in my head, and she confirmed it tasted not right. I sent it back and got a Cherry Cider, which was delicious albeit a little too sweet (asked my server for the brand since I like some ciders and hate others, but she never got back to me...it'd be nice to know). When my bill came, I was charged for the Blue Moon I had 5 sips of. I questioned it and the server gave me a little attitude to be honest. I couldn't believe I had to fight to get an item that was expired taken off my tab. She almost made me feel in the wrong and embarrassed for asking, when that should be standard customer service practice. Ultimately it was removed, but I was made to feel like I was being high maintenance....not cool. One of the two women's bathrooms always seems to be closed due to an issue. At least there's plenty of parking in the large lot since you can use the spaces for the building that looks like a liquor store next door (I'm told it's the same owner and this is used as storage space and is not an operating liquor store? I'm unsure) It seems they just need better training for servers and more of them on busy nights so they aren't stretched so thin. This place has potential but the thought of eating expired sour cream makes my skin absolutely crawl....please keep a closer eye on ingredients! I will say that my friends have always been pleased with their meals for the most part, especially when it comes to their decadent desserts. The seafood options also seem to be a hit, but I have not tried them myself. read more

We frequently visit Dave's and it's always a top choice when we want to grab a quick, satisfying bite. Food is always tasty and service always with a smile. This week was our second time back since the revamped space. Our server was attentive but something was definitely lacking... big time. It was a Monday night, and not busy at all. A few folks at the bar and just a few tables sat. We ordered a half size plate of nachos, my husband got a special calamari dish and I had the Dave's Steak Sandwich. We sat at 5:45 but our nachos didn't come out for 40 (forty!) minutes. And they came out only lukewarm. Another 20 mins once we finished the app and our dinner was finally served. It was very unlike every other visit to Dave's. Not sure what happened. My sandwich was delicious but sadly, the fries were cold and I left them on my plate. Arriving at 5:45 and leaving at 7:10 was not normal for this place. I know this might look like "she didn't review them when it was great the other hundred times she went. It's one fluke night and they get three stars..." And that's not my intent. I will absolutely 100% revisit and review this post if we go back and have a more positive experience. read more

Very friendly staff here. They were stretched a bit thin, but when we saw our server she was on point. I had the "Dave's Sampler" appetizer, the mozzarella sticks were top notch. Food is always good, they cannot get a takeout order correct. We have had many issues with takeout over the years, with the previous owner as well as the new ownership. We ordered three wedge salads and three grill cheeses with fries (by phone), got the order home and no ketchup for the fries and no dressing for three salads, when I called to let them know the girl on the phone said there is an option for adding dressing, I told her we ordered by phone and we were not asked about dressing. I found a gem! Great lunch place. They open at 1030. 12 o'clock somewhere! I literally had a tuna sandwich in front of me in less than 5 mins. Awesome. Clean friendly Bill is a great bartender. I have been eating at this establishment for well over 28 years, the ownership in the staff are always tentative to everything that you need, they have a huge variety of draft beers on tap. The food menu has a very big variety and everything is delicious, when you're in town, you have to stop here for lunch or dinner or just to grab a couple of cold beers. It was busy tonight at Dave's Bar and Grill. It was seat yourself tonight. We were waited on almost immediately, and ordered our meal soon after we got our drinks. I chose a 12oz steak, baked potato and steamed asparagus. Although my meat was cooked a bit more than medium, it was melt in your mouth delicious! I never would have guessed the steak would be THAT good from a place that was known back in the day for a 50 cent grilled cheese!! My husband had the fish and chips. Don't expect a lot when coming here. It's bar food that's reasonably priced. Hit or miss with service because of staffing issues. I've been here twice over the last two days only because of the person I was with. Had steak the first night and had a hamburger. The second fries were soggy hamburger was OK. Used to go there all the time but the place has gone down hill over time. Menu used to offer daily specials that went away. What did me in was the foot long hair that was buried throughout the hamburger which ruined my appetite. French fries were always served cold. I used to LOVE coming here. It actually looks so nice lately new booths and seems to be getting a whole face lift, but sadly appearance isn't everything. I went the other night and (Shannon) was my bartender. Was told if I go and she is working good luck getting a drink, food or any attention from her hoped it wasn't the case but it was true. She was slurring her words and cross eyed .. honestly it's sad and uncomfortable when you notice that your bartender is that noticeably drunk. We ordered 2 burgers medium well, They were so overcooked and dry they were almost inedible. The buns were cold. There was no condiments on them. It was just the worst burger I've ever had. I ordered a ranchero burger for my son. the only condiment it's supposed to have is barbecue sauce, which was missing from the sandwich.. there are only three toppings, not too complicated, cheese, onion rings, and barbecue sauce. How can you not put the barbecue sauce on it? I ordered a heated loaded Italian grinder for my husband. There were tons of vegetables, but there was no meat. He actually dug down into the bottom of the torpedo roll to see if there was any meat on it. I've been coming here for years and and the food has always been consistent. They have A great bar with a large selection of bars on tap, good drinks, and great food. There are games set up in the of front building for kids and adults and free popcorn. We stopped in last night around 8 pm and was able to sit at the bar for dinner. My burger was cooked exactly how I wanted it...medium and the steak was too. The steak sandwich was tender and was loaded. The burger has been one of my favorites for years and still is. I've been going to Dave's for decades because it never disappoints and the food is always consistent. Basic staple comfort foods done right, super cheap prices that rarely seem to increase, a cozy neighborhood bar feel with tons of TV's and sports memorabilia on the walls that gives the place a warm feel to it. You really can't go wrong here with any of the menu options and the serving sizes are pretty generous. I've eaten my way through almost everything on the menu with few exceptions and I've never had a bad meal. Today's review was inspired by their very tasty and fresh fish and chips, which as a native Rhode Islander, I'm very fussy about. If it's greasy or loaded with soggy batter, it's not for me. Well, I never have to worry about that at Dave's. The batter is never soggy and actually has a nice crunch to it and it's never greasy. It's not frozen either......they only serve fresh caught haddock or cod. Great tasting fish served with their yummy fries. This is a great spot that's busy more than it's not because of their great food and environment. By the way, they have a ton of parking available, so that's never an issue. I ordered the Goin' to Fenway, (Sweet Italian sausage with grilled peppers and onions on a torpedo roll). The sausage was sliced in small pieces so it was so dry and very few peppers and onions. The torpedo roll was also dry. I complained to our waiter and he agreed that the sausage is purchased sliced and frozen so that is why it is so dried out. I complained to the rude owner Dave and suggested that the sausage should be left whole to keep in the juices, he told me that I am entitled to my opinion but don't tell him how to prepare his food. He never apologized and also said that he was going to check with our waiter to see what happened and he was going to call me back but never did. I would never go back there again and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

There was a problem with my order (My friend's was fine but of course she politely waited for my food to come). I had to send mine back twice, to no avail. She then sent the manager over -- I'm guessing he was also the owner because he was rude and condescending, with apparently little regard for customer service or appreciation. He snapped, "So what do you want?" I suggested it would be nice if he took some money off the bill, so he came back saying he reduced it by $3. He then tried to tell us the reduction gets done on the back end in the computer even though it doesn't appear on the bill, so we paid it, but it was still the full amount in the end. It wasn't worth arguing over a measely $3, we just won't come back. What a shame because we used to love coming here for games when the place was thriving. You would think he would practice better customer service to encorage customers to return, especially considering there are plenty of better choices in the area. read more

After numerous recommendations on Facebook, I ordered a tuna melt and potato salad tonight. Fairly disappointing. Potato salad had no flavor. Tuna melt was average. I asked for rye bread but it was marble rye, which I was thrilled with, but maybe not all would be. I asked for pickles with the sandwich as well and was given 4 slices. Went there tonight. Restaurant maybe had to booths and six people at the bar. The bartender was the worst. Never got his name but there was one guy and one girl! Literally both were miserable! I asked what I could have as a side instead of fry's and he told me to read the blue box on the menu! The order came out and I have never been served a burger with an ice cold bun. I very nicely asked if that was normal. And he told me yes.. lol I dry nicely asked him to wrap the food up and he was tipped accordingly to the amount on the check!! Here in town on business was recommended this place by locals. It was a decent place to maybe go hang out and watch a game but I ordered to go and wasnt impressed at all. The lobster roll was average so was the clam cakes I ordered lemonade it didnt taste like lemonade. Wow! What a difference a day makes. I met some friends for dinner this week and I saw a sign on the door as I entered saying that gentleman must wear shirts with sleeves. Apparently they are catering to a certain crowd which is a good thing for me. The last time that I came I was subjected to F bombs from the bar as I was sitting with my family. This time we heard none of that. The service was excellent as always. And the food was so good. One friend got the foot long hot dog which comes either in one 6" roll or cut in half and put into 6" rolls. The rolls were grilled and she said it was delicious. Another friend got a grilled chicken sandwich which I thought sounded very healthy until I saw that it had bacon on it and cheese and sauce and came with fries and it may not have been healthy but it looked delicious. I had the absolute best steak sandwich that I have ever had. I couldn't even finish it. It came with cheese and mushrooms and onions and I ordered onion rings with it which were amazing. It really was a meal that I would recommend. And I will certainly be back for more. read more

The food is less than satisfying, the staff has never been friendly and the atmosphere makes me wish I was some place else. Even some of the staff complains about the establishment and the owner.
