Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. But when I asked if I could get the potatoes without chives I was told they were premade and couldn't customize, so not sure if they are made in house or brought in. Delicious either way - even with the scallions. Prime rib wasn't quite medium well but it was well cooked so I didn't send it back. There is some foul language in some of the stickers on the kitchen door (and you have to go through that door to get to the restrooms). And the manager was a little off putting to us when he learned we were from out of town he suggested a visit to the dispensary. He also commented on how dressed up we were - when both us us were just in silk button up shirts. The meal for the two of us came to $100 with only one glass of wine so it's not like this is a cutoff shorts and string t kind of place. My husband wasn't bothered by the comment but I didn't like it - we were also the only same sexed couple in the place so maybe I was a little on edge. Seemed very much a place for locals and a couple of tables were there when we got there were still going strong when we left. So definitely a hang out spot.

The booths that are supposed to be for six people are not roomy enough to be comfortable for six adults. When a party of six comes in they should be seated at a table where they can enjoy their food comfortably. There were plenty of tables available when we, six adults, entered. I don't understand why we were seated in such an uncomfortable position. My final complaint is that they will not give separate checks. So if you are a senior citizen on a fixed income dining with another couple, be prepared to just split the bill. Or, have a calculator ready and cash on hand to pay for your share. I go to many, many restaurants in the surrounding area that have no problem giving separate checks to the separate couples within a party. So, although the food at Sorrento's deserves five stars on every occasion that I have there, I will probably go elsewhere for more comfortable seating and convenience in paying the bill.
