AMAZING. Cute interior and atmosphere. The service at the bar was good. Great drinks and food! We had lots of plates, but the bravas and the baklava were stand outs to us!

Superb as always. The lamb chops and hummus are a MUST while at Palo. We had to get two servings of the lamb The mushroom croquettes were a bit of a disappointment as I didn't taste much truffle. The patatas bravas were just the right amount of spice and cream. Classic bday meal (we went here last year for Jason's bday lol whoops). Will definitely miss this place when Jason leaves

On a busy night the service was great, ambiance cozy. We had the trumpet mushroom toast, tomato toast, halibut cheeks and of course, corn ribs. It was all delicious as usual.

YUM! Our favorites were the mushroom toast and the broccoli Caesar. The cheese board also had great selection and came with a large slices! The drinks were also delicious, and it was awesome you could customize your own! This is an awesome place for date night or to bring people in town. It's a ton of fun to share a bunch of dishes too! The restaurant itself is gorgeous; it has the feel of the first floor of a historic home that was redone into a modern bar and restaurant. My husband and I will definitely be back to try some more soon!

We came here for dinner before a PPAC performance. It was recommended to us by our mixologist at The Eddy when we visited back in April. We are delighted that we took her advice. The ambiance was cool. It is an older building with lots of character. The interior space is very well laid out and features a very large "U" shaped bar. It has a cool vibe to it and makes you feel chill. We broke tradition and sat at a table this time. Our server was awesome throughout the night. He made great suggestions for both food and drink. He was always present when we needed him. The stars of the show were the food and drink. We tried a variety of Tapas and cocktails. I am not going to list them here. I have photos for you to look at. My descriptions wouldn't do them justice. Suffice it to say that everything was flavorful, innovative, and perfectly prepared. One photo I didn't take was my wife's Espresso Martini. It is called Cafe 43. She is very particular about espresso martinis, and she said it was hands down the best she has had. My only suggestion to you is to make this a MUST TRY on your next visit to Providence. We certainly will be back.

Tuna Crudo with Ajo Blanco sauce... one of the most incredible things I've ever eaten

This is an overdue review for one of the BEST restaurants in the world! Seriously can't go wrong here. I LOVE it here. Palo in Providence is hands down one of my favorite spots on Earth and I do not say that lightly. It's a clever spin on Spanish tapas with a warm, somehow therapeutic energy that just wraps around you the moment you walk in. Here's the game plan for dinner(you can always order more!): about 3 plates per couple (trust me on this), share a dessert, and order whatever mocktail or cocktail catches your eye, they're all crafted beautifully by PROS! And yes, it's always busy, so for the love of tapas, make a reservation. That said... you MIGHT get lucky at the bar if you are bad at planning ahead like I can be... IF you do everyone is amazing, we love Michelle and Isa! Two absolute gems who make the experience sparkle. Honestly, the whole team is solid though... David, Michael, and now Chris (the new manager) is doing a fantastic job carrying the torch since our BELOVED Carlos(former manager) moved on. PS Carlos, if you're reading this, we miss you!!! The most important part... Food.... TRY EVERYTHING. I mean it. But especially the tuna crudo. That Ajo Blanco sauce? I think about it at night. I dream about it. I'd write sonnets to it if I could. PLEASE PALO!!!! Never take it off the menu. Some things are sacred. So yeah. Come hungry. Come curious. Come back again and again.

Delicious food, warm ambience, and attentive service. My friend and I enjoyed and lovely time here and it was my first visit. I highly recommend a reservation becausr it is very popular! They also offer an assortment of mocktails!

Was finally able to come to Palo after hearing friends rave about it for years! Though we went on a Sunday night, the place was PACKED and for good reason! Their dishes are small yet filling and incredibly tasty!! Their mushroom toast and the falafel sandwiches were to die for!! Would recommend this restaurant as one of the " must visit" in Providence!

If you're thinking about going, go. The food was tasty and flavorful. My party was celebrating a birthday and the server treated us to a wine tasting! Great service and a cozy atmosphere.

I recently made a reservation for Palo Tapas Bar on Sunday, July 21 at 8:45pm for 4 Guests in the dining room through Resy. There is a note that our table will be held for 15 minutes and to call +1 401-414-7610 if running late. Palo closes at 10:00pm on Sunday and this was the latest I've been there. We were seated right away and were welcomed back. QR for the menu can be found on the table. I ordered a Aperol Spritz that had aperol, cava, and soda water. It was a nice drink, but preferred their sangria. We ordered some of our favorites to share with our visiting friends - Costillas de Maíz / Corn Ribs; Gambas al Ajillo / Garlic Shrimp; and Rabo de Toro / Oxtail. We also ordered the Croquetas de Maíz / Corn Croquettes from the Tapas de Temporada / Seasonal Tapas section. The Croquetas de Maíz / Corn Croquettes were creamy corn & mild green chile fritters (4) served with pepper jelly. The last tapa we ordered was Arayes / Pita Sliders which had ground beef filled pita bread, tahini sauce, and a side of pickles. The pita was crispy and paired very well with the tahini sauce. All the food was very good and everyone enjoyed it. Around 9:45pm, the waitress came around to let us know that it was last call for the kitchen and she'll be back around to ask if there was anything else we wanted to put in. We did want to put in another tapa so I grabbed her attention later only to find out the stove was already off. She never came back to ask us if we wanted anything. It was a little disappointing since usually their service is top notch. Prior to this time, I made a reservation for Palo Tapas Bar on Saturday, April 27 at 4:00pm for 4 Guests in the dining room through Google. We ordered some of our favorites to share with our visiting friends and some new dishes as well like the Baklava de Tomate / Tomato Baklava which had roasted tomatoes, summer vegetables, sun-dried tomato & walnut pesto, feta, and dagga (Palestinian tomato & dill salsa) and Setas al Jerez / Mushrooms with Sherry which had seared RI Mushroom Co mushrooms, sherry, and crispy shallots. We always enjoy bringing our friends to Palo Tapas Bar. The dishes are great for sharing and we have a great experience.

I can't believe I hadn't been here before. As someone who truly LOVES tapas, this place is officially on my list for future meals out. It features a lovely, cozy interior with exposed stone walls. There's an extensive menu with delicious Spanish bites to suit all tastes. We shared a variety of tapas including a meat and cheese board (we picked manchego cheese and serrano ham), patatas bravas, corn ribs, tortilla espanola, olives, garlic shrimp, pan con tomate, and mushrooms with sherry. Absolutely everything was phenomenal except for the mushrooms which were just ok for us. I would happily order all the other items next time, but would also love to throw a few other dishes into the mix to try even more of the menu. They also have a few different types of sangria and many other interesting cocktail options. I loved the elderflower and cava sangria and would definitely order it again. For dessert we had the nutella babka and it was fantastic. Would definitely recommend that too! Just a random note to add: they don't have any hot drinks so if you want coffee or tea, that's a no go. Our server was helpful and nice, but was generally pretty average. She didn't go above and beyond and was overall "fine." Not overly impressive but she took our orders and checked in on us a couple times and that was that. All in all, it's a great spot and the final bill was surprisingly reasonable considering the large quantity of dishes we ordered.

Fun, friendly and upbeat environment. Great for a drink after work too. We sat at the bar and had several plates. Everything was terrific, but the star of the show was the corn- uniquely sliced and served with an aioli sauce that was out of this world. We also had the swordfish, mushrooms served on skewers, olives, a pasta with squid ink, calamari and shrimp with the heads on, and chorizo. Short walk to the train and local hotel

Five stars for Palo. This is my favorite restaurant for a chic meal in Providence. Over the past few years I've visited several times and enjoyed meals and drinks at the bar and at tables, on weekends and during the week, and in larger and small groups. Here are my thoughts after consistently excellent food and service over the years. The location: Palo is located just adjacent to Downtown Providence, situated on the edge of the East Side and the Providence River. It's an easy walk from the bus tunnel, the RISD museum, Brown campus, and other offices downtown. The building itself is the stunning brick steeple building, with another restaurant-- New Rivers--occupying the South Main St. Side. The decor is arty, sophisticated, and a little moody, with hanging lights over the bar. It's a great spot to take friends from out of town or to celebrate a special occasion. The Drinks: the bartender at Palo is excellent. The menu offers an interesting selection of wines, beers, and cocktails including an extensive gin and tonic list with multiple unique flavors. And aside from the menu, the bartender is knowledgable and friendly and can make your drink of choice. The Food: Now onto the most important part, the tapas! Palo's menu reflects the season, with a substantial selection of core plates that are always offered. Given that it's Tapas, the portions are smaller; my recommendation is choosing at least two plates per person in your group, and planning to split each plate among two or three people. First, the charcuterie selection is excellent and very customizable to your tastes-- take care not to overlook it. The seasonal salad is always a top pick for me, and I don't think you can ever go wrong there. For classics, the swordfish kebabs (3) are succulent, meaty, and fresh from the ocean. Served with the perfect medley of pomegranate arils, pickled veg, and beets, it may be my favorite item on the menu. And I dream of the lamb lollipops served atop a stone dish of black lentils and tomatoes. They practically melt in your mouth. Truly the only critique I have is that Palo doesn't offer a physical menu-- you have to use a QR code and your phone. This can be difficult particularly when dining with older friends and relatives; and even with younger people I find that using the phone to read the menu takes diners out of the moment and disrupts the "eating out" experience for me.

A friend and I came in and put our names on the waitlist, waited for about 45 minutes at a bar down the street, and then had some of the most fulfilling tapas ever! We got a Prosciutto & Salpicao board, the Queijo de Cabra, and Frijol Dip. I also got a nice portuguese red wine that paired well with some of the cheese we received. We sat in a very sweet and cozy nook and enjoyed every minute! I will be back when it's warm out and the front patio is open!

At their front patio, they had the World Cup game playing, but the back patio felt cozier so we opted for that. The inside though was a strong second since the lighting is very low, creating a cool and calm environment. Walking through the restaurant to get to our table made me realize that each table is unique, no two are decorated the same or have the same furniture. It was a hot day but the overhead mesh cover blocked out a lot of the sun. Our waitress made us feel very welcome from the start and told us about their drink and food specials. My friend ordered Guatemalan beer as well as a Spanish beer. For food, we ordered the plantain fries, octopus, calamari, and shrimp salad, and grilled lamp chops. The seafood salad came out first. According to the menu, it was going to be paired with cornbread. It looked like sourdough bread but had a far denser consistency. I was expecting the salad to have lots of shrimp to act as a filler but surprisingly, it was about 60% octopus, 25% calamari, 10% shrimp, and 5% onions. The seafood was very flavorful, tasted fresh, and cooked perfectly. The portion size was great for two. Next came the plantain fries, which I was least impressed with as it was essentially fried plantain chunks. I think it would have been better if they were cut into smaller pieces that can be easily dipped and consumed in one bite. The plantain was gently ripe, so just a little sweet and the dipping sauce was like a less sour sour cream. Lastly, the lamp chops came out and the presentation was wonderful. They were a bit skinnier and less tender than that I was expecting, but flavor wise they were good. We enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service here.

Unable to get a reservation at the legendary Al Forno, this nearby Italian restaurant was alright…read more Wood-Grilled Crispy Baby Octopus: Apparently their signature dish. The octopus body was grilled to a tender tenderness, though the tentacles were slightly charred and bitter, which is normal, but the sauce was far superior. The kale was cooked until smooth and thick, with a distinct sweetness that completely eliminated any strange vegetable taste; the white beans were also soft and creamy, adding thickness and aroma to the sauce. This sauce paired perfectly with the bread served before the meal. Pizza with Sweet Corn & Spicy Oil: In Providence, you absolutely must try grilled pizza. The waiter recommended this one, saying it was his favorite. It was the first time I'd ever had a pizza like this. The crust was thin and light, with noticeable charring, and a slightly crispy texture, which inexplicably reminded me of the Indian roti that I always had at Cantonese restaurants when I was a child. The tomatoes and corn were in season, and a touch of chili oil brought out a lively blend of sour and sweet flavors. Delicious. Bacaro's "Farmer's Salad": This was the first time I'd had a salad with snow peas, and it had a raw taste. I also tasted a hint of minty, refreshing herbal flavor, which was interesting. I searched for the ingredients but couldn't find the source, and the waiter couldn't explain it either.

We were a party of three, but it could have been a party of six with all the food we ordered. We had the first reservation at 5 PM. We parked on the street, but you can park in the lot and they will validate your parking for you. The service was a 5/5 and the ambiance can be casual or fine dining. The lighting is perfect for a romantic night out and the view of the Providence River right over your shoulder. We made our own board: Umbriaco di Raboso "Drunken Cow" - amazing cheese, very high quality, sharp, not over powering. Definitely get it! Provolone - sharp very good quality provolone cheese Proscuitto di San Daniele - sliced very thin, soft and flavorful. I was very pleased with the portion size and the flavor. A must have! Spicy Olives - assorted olives with a spicy olive oil. All of the olives were fantastic and there definitely was a good kick from the spice. They threw in the pickles, jams, nuts and honey, all were fantastic. I really liked the blueberry jam. The warm tapas came out at all different times. Fried Bolognese olives - Although these were unique and delicious, I would skip these next time. The Bolognese is just a pinch on the inside of the olive. It would be a game changer if there was a side of Bolognese sauce to dip them in instead. Eggplant - Definitely a must order. Super simple sauce packed with flavor and the buffalo mozzarella is to die for. The pork belly is also a must order. Tons of flavor and not a lot of fat, which surprised me. It was a good sized portion too. Now of the the pizza...we ordered Pizza Salumi. Very thin dough, wood fired for the flavor and the crisp. There is a good amount of sauce, which can make the crust floppy, but it's so worth it! The flavor of the sauce is so good. All fresh and top quality ingredients. The soppressata was perfect, taking this pizza to the next the level. It was cut super thin, as it should, and gave the pizza the flavor a margarita is missing. It would be tough not to order this next time. So just as we should have been walking out of the door because we were so full, we had the duck and the wood fired NY strip to split among the three of us. The duck - The duck dish came with the two legs so it was the dark meat with crispy skin. The duck was flavorful, moist, tender, and had some sort of apple based sauce to accompany it. The mashed potatoes were great and the Gorgonzola chunks were a treat, especially while sipping the sangiovese/cab red wine blend that we ordered for the table. The NY Strip was my favorite. The steak was tender and came with the flavor from that wood fired grill. The sauce was so good that I dipped every piece in it, trying to reserve some for the mashed potatoes. I ordered the steak medium rare + and it came out just how I wanted it. We ordered the lemon tart for my mom's birthday dessert. I would skip the dessert next time, but I always skip dessert. My mother loved it...very fresh and vibrant. I would have to say that Bacaro is my favorite RI restaurant, especially for a special night out. It is also a perfect spot to go and grab a snack or two with friends after work with a drink. It is affordable as you want and can find high end alternatives as well. The bottle of wine was $48 and you couldn't have asked for a better pairing with all of the food. We also ordered an after dinner cocktail, called the Call to Italy...very refreshing for a digestive type cocktail.

Every few minutes the door opens and a wave of heat rolls out. The pozza maker leans in with a peel. Wood crackles. A pizza disappears into the fire. The room organizes itself around that rhythm. Figidini is small. Smaller than you expect when you first walk in. Wood everywhere. Low light over the bar and the tables. The kitchen sits in full view just a few feet from where people are eating. You can see the entire operation. Flour on the prep counter. Dough stretching across the board. The oven door opening and closing again and again. It feels less like a dining room and more like you've been invited to sit just outside the kitchen while the night moves around you. Cozy is the obvious word. Quiet is not. The room is loud. Very loud. Concrete floors. Tile. Wood. Glass. Hard surfaces everywhere. Sound doesn't fade here. It ricochets. Conversations bounce off the walls and stack on top of each other until the whole room hums. Then the bartender starts shaking a drink. The metal tins crash together like someone using a jackhammer. The sound cuts straight through the room. At certain points you find yourself leaning across the table and yelling just to finish a sentence. Service moves through that noise with quiet efficiency. Orders taken. Food delivered. Plates cleared. No hovering. No conversation. Just the steady rhythm of the room continuing around you. Then the pizza arrives. Whole. No slices. Just a pair of scissors sitting on the plate beside it. The crust rises high around the edge, blistered and spotted from the oven. Puffy and inflated like bread that caught the perfect blast of heat. When you press into it the rim compresses easily. Chewy on the outside. Tender inside. The center stays thin and soft the way a wood fired pie should. This one is their tomato pie, which means the tomatoes carry the whole flavor of the pizza. No blanket of mozzarella covering things up. Just crushed tomatoes spread across the dough with sliced garlic, herbs, olive oil, and a little grated cheese working quietly underneath. The sauce is bright and fresh. Slightly sweet. Tomato first, then garlic, then olive oil settling into everything. Each slice bends when you lift it. The rim holds. Exactly what you expect from a fast bake in a very hot oven. Simple food. Done carefully. And done well. There is also a slightly precious edge to everything and that might not sit well with everyone. Figidini is the kind of place where a five dollar eight ounce bottle of Coke arrives at the table next to a tiny glass holding two oversized ice cubes that already take up most of the space before the soda even touches it. Small room. Warm light. Loud energy. A little over curated. But the oven keeps burning. Another pie goes in. Another one comes out. And once the scissors hit the table and the first slice makes it to your plate, most of the rest of it fades into the background. Because at the center of all that noise and dim light and careful presentation is a simple idea executed very well. A wood fired tomato pie that tastes exactly the way it should.

I feel like finding a…read morespot where the martinis are very strong but also extremely tasty is really difficult, and they honestly do an amazing job! I'm also not just talking about their signature martinis with the names. They have different types of martinis and fruity ones as well, and those are just as delicious, maybe even a little better than their signature ones, which always hit the spot regardless. I usually come here to chitchat with friends and catch up for drinks, so I haven't gotten huge meals, but I've heard that the food is delicious, and I definitely will be coming back to try it. I did try their charcuterie board, and it's so delicious and filling, and perfect for picking at a little something while you have your delicious drinks. Location: This location is right in the heart of downtown PVD. This place definitely gives more business casual vibes, but you can definitely dress up to go on a date. If I'm not mistaken, Friday and Saturday nights definitely have more of a club vibe after a certain time, but during the week, I've also gone before, and it's very low-lit, romantic, and honestly perfect for any occasion, especially with the type of drinks they have! Parking can be a little difficult because it's downtown, but you can always try to get street parking with a little walk. I honestly find parking down the street, and it's not that hard. There's also parking you can pay for right on the corners, so there are different ways of finding a place to park. Taking an Uber would be a great idea as well, so you don't have to deal with anything and can drink as much as you want. They do not have valet. Service: The service has always been super friendly and very accommodating. Honestly, all the times that I've gone, they've been very helpful with helping us get seats and just giving us a great experience, even with how busy it gets. This is definitely a spot that I not only recommend to everyone, but it's somewhere that I will continue to go because it's genuinely one of my favorites!

We were lucky that another patron decided they wanted a table versus the chef's seat at the counter. For us, this is the perfect place to sit because it lets you take in the whole experience. The ambiance was great. I had the same great Negroni as last time, but also had a new take on an Old Fashioned called the Dinner Jacket. Very yummy! Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered the Kohlrabi Caesar and sesame focaccia again. It was as great as the first time. The focaccia is amazing. My wife ordered the Anolini for her entree, and I ordered the fabulous rack of lamb cooked in the wood-fired oven. It was simply amazing. We ended by splitting the warm apple tart. Everything was fabulous...my rating is the same. Go and enjoy yourself.

I loved the cream and gold aesthetics, as well as the cool art on the ceiling. They have a variety of seating areas including tables inside and outside as well as highchairs around the open kitchen and highchairs wrapping around the brick oven which is where we sat. We were warned that it does get very toasty, but it wasn't anything unbearable. My friend comes here often, so he noticed that they've made big changes to their menu. He highly recommended the crudo; it can either be ordered a la carte ($14 per fish serving) or one of each as a platter. I chose to try the black bass and bluefin tuna. We also ordered wood roasted sesame focaccia to eat with the crudo and the cacio and Pepe we ordered. Lastly, we ordered a Kohlrabi Caesar salad which comes with Boston blackened boquerones, croutons, and parmiagano. The food came out at different moments but we ate the salad, bread, and crudo together and saved the pasta for last. The crudo was very fresh and decent serving size. It seemed to only be topped with olive oil and salt, but that was enough to amplify the flavor. The focaccia was soft, easy to tear apart, warm, perfectly crispy/toasted, and every millimeter of the focaccia was covered in sesame seeds. It comes with olive oil to dip in. The salad was unique. I have never had kohlrabi before but it was similar to broccoli stems in its firmness, but not as sweet. It was not drowned in dressing which I was happy about, and has a good amount of parmesan cheese. I could taste the crunchy croutons which added an additional crunch along with the kohlrabi. I have never had boquerones before so I wasn't sure which flavor to look out for. The cacio and Pepe was okay. It was a little bland, but since it was my first time having it, I was not sure what to expect. The spaghetti was cooked a little under al dente and the sauce was a lower viscosity than I imagined. My friend had a drink and all together, our bill was close to $100 which is not too bad. The plates look small (about 6-8" in diameter), but the food is filling. I decided to check out the website for fun and I love the octopus art and that it's easy to navigate. The staff was very friendly and made us feel important and taken care of.

The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! I went in knowing next to nothing about cognac & left with a decent understanding of the spirit. I've always wanted to do something like this, & Sapphire made it extremely accessible. It was also amazingly affordable. I'm really looking forward to more events like this one. Sign me up, please.

I loved the Jacobean cocktail, so we both got this smooth scotch cocktail...Melissa made the drink with an expertise that few have and while she was making them, we engaged in conversation with Marc, the beverage manager. Both were very engaging and very friendly, making the visit very relaxed and enjoyable....we also got some steakhouse sliders that were outstanding...the meat was just slightly medium, keeping all the moistness and flavor.... Overall a great place for a drink and/or light bites...... The ambiance is inviting and cozy and the patio outside is great for those nice warm Rhode Island evenings....
