First off, Tel Aviv is awesome! There are literally no places in the New England area that offer waterfront views, bar, food and cigar smoking in one. Tel Aviv is a great place to meet with friends or on a date. It offers great waterfront views, large outdoor seating area, great drinks and delicious food! The cigar selection in the humidor is also wonderful, incase you don't bring your own. When my friends and I go here, we always order food and drinks. The food is awesome! We usually order the lamb lollipops, grape leaves, Thai chicken satay, calamari and baked feta- everything is always cooked to our liking and never have any issues. The drinks are also delicious. A definite must try is the Skrewball peanut butter whiskey which is excellent. Next, the service is awesome. Everyone who works there is awesome and very attentive to the customers. I highly recommended Tel Aviv!!! 5 STARS!!!

This is a cool place to go in the summer and sit outside by the water. The ground that the tables are on is actually made of turf which is different. Once it started to get dark and a little chilly, they brought a personal fire pit next to our table! I tried a few cocktails which were all good, and we shared the cheese plate. It came with fresh and dry fruit, cheese, crackers, olives and meats. It was perfect for sharing. My only complaint is that it seemed to be a bit pricy for the area, both the drinks and food. I would still go back again because I enjoyed the atmosphere.

What a great tapas place that no one goes to! It makes me sad. We got here on a Tues night around 6 and we were the only ones there the entire time. Parking can be tricky as it's on street parking only (we found 2 spots on South Water street) but def worth the visit. Atmosphere is hip and trendy - intimate lighting. The awning is black with the restaurant's name in dark red - this could be hard to see at night as Whiskey Republic's sign is lit up like the 4th of July. Our bartender, Krista was great. Very personable and friendly - talked with us but gave us our space as well. What knocked off a star was that I'm a Moscato drinker, they only had Riesling - so I opted to get that BUT they ran out. No ciders either, bottled beers only. I decided to get Sunrise Splash (rum/pineapple) which was fine. My gf had the Perfect Pleasure (vodka, pomegranate, cranberry) which she really enjoyed...a few times. =) The tapas are between $4-7, very decently priced and great portions. We ordered the mozzarella skewers, baba ganoush, buffalo chicken sliders, spanakopita, falafel sliders and cheese platter (manchego and aged gouda). We really enjoyed everything we had - my favorite was the mozz skewers - so fresh tasting with a nice balsamic drizzle and spanakopita - nice crispy flaky crust and delicious tzatziki sauce. The only thing I wasn't completely thrilled with was the falafel sliders - I think the falafel was a tad bit too big of a serving for the slider - maybe smaller and flatter would work a little better. And who am I kidding, most of us have had it in a wrap from East Side Pockets, so we're a little bias. =) All in all, would love to come back to try other things off the menu - just wished there was more of a crowd, umm any crowd for that matter. This would be a great after work spot.

    Great baba ganoush!

Uncrowded, friendly staff, interesting décor, and most importantly, AMAZING tapas. The drinks are good, although I would like to see more emphasis on custom crafted cocktails as the atmosphere suits it. Something that really stood out was that every person who worked there that night did so as a team, making sure that the four of us had a great experience - you simply do not see this anywhere else. I love this place and will definitely be back...a lot.

Buffalo chicken meatball sliders and tomato & mozzarella skewers. Yummy

This is a nice place and the food was pretty tasty. We went on a Saturday evening and I was a little surprised that there weren't more people there(about 10 ppl in total). But that was good for us because our waitress was on point. I ordered the buffalo chicken meatball sliders(delicious) and the tomato and mozzarella skewers(equally amazing). For the small portions, they were surprisingly filling. The prices were good for them, I believe $5 and $6 so I was satisfied with the taste and cost. I also ordered a cosmo(forget the name) and had a feeling it would be expensive since there was no price on the menu(I see what y'all did lol). But after like 3 sips I was feeling it(you know a lil tipsy) so I didn't even care how much it cost. It was $12, that's NYC prices right there, but it was gooood and strong. Overall I had a pleasant experience here. Nice ambiance, good music, good food and nice staff. I would return. It seems to be pretty underrated and I def think more people should try it out.

    Providence at night

I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago, quite by accident. Taking photos at night in Providence in the winter (well actually the spring that feels like winter) can be pretty cold! While waiting for the sun to set I stopped in Tel Aviv with a couple of friends. It was pretty quiet in there because it was only 6:30, but we sat at the bar. Unfortunately, since this wasn't a planned stop we had already eaten but we ordered a bottle of wine to warm up with. The wine list was varied and had some unique offerings. The decor can be described as exotic modern and really beautiful (we actually took as many pictures inside as we did of Providence at night). The staff was pleasant helpful and didn't rush us a bit. I will definitely stop there for dinner or tapas on another night. I can't wait to try the food!

Be careful they charge you a "rounding" fee

I went to Tel Aviv Bar & Tapas on a Saturday night around 7:30 for drinks with some friends. Since it was a nice evening, we decided to sit outside for the waterfront views. Once 8 o'clock hit, multiple people told us that they have a strict dress policy and that we had to remove our hats. I found it odd that a place would have a time when they would enforce a dress code, especially for a bar with outside seating that we were already sitting at. The place was dead for a Saturday night and it was dark so I don't get why it even mattered in the end. I ordered the Mediterranean Mojito, which was very watered down. My friends and I were very disappointed with our cocktails because they basically had no alcohol and were $12/$13! I don't mind paying for a good quality drink, so I was very put off by these drinks and prices. This isn't NYC or Boston. One of my other friends came after and I told them to just order wine or beer because you could guarantee that there would be alcohol in them. When I asked for my check, I noticed a "rounding" charge on my bill. It was only $0.04 but we were all charged it. When I asked the waitress she couldn't comment on it. We all felt like this place was taking advantage of us. We will not likely be coming back.

Grey Goose on the rocks with extra line.

Went here for lunch today. It was a beautiful day and this restaurant is located where the old Lola's used to be right on the Providence River. It was a great scene and the breeze off the water was amazing. I started out by getting the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp where huge! That was followed by a bottle of a blush wine. Then I had the tomato basil salad with fresh mozzarella and a balsamic reduction. It was fantastic of course I added grilled chicken to the side for an additional $3. The service was amazing! It is highly recommended and I will return! Oh yeah and to finish it off I had a nice Grey Goose on the rocks with a line.

Love my goose in a goose cup!!

We were led to a corner table by Michael who greeted us at the door and was to be our server. As usual the room was noisy. (Later we asked whether the music volume could be turned down which they did, much appreciated) We scanned the menu and found it hard to not order everything! However, we started with a Martini and a Cubano Viejo - both of which were well made and went down nicely. While we were deciding we nibbled on delicious almonds. As usual we shared a number of dishes. The seasonal Croquettes, the Patatas Bravas (slightly spicy), Gambas Ajillo with extra bread to sop up the tasty sauce, and to top it all our favorite Lamb Chops. For dessert we had an excellent pistachio tart washed down with a glass of a fine Cabernet. All the dishes were excellent and deserving of the highest rating - rare for us. (Perhaps because everything jelled nicely. The check came to $140 o which we added a good tip. We had ordered too much and took some of the food home to consume the next day. The duck baclava- so interesting and different... tasted somewhat like a fancy bite of thanksgiving dinner with stuffing and all. Chorizo and cheese platter- good, it is what it sounds like. We were a party of three, but it could have been a party of six with all the food we ordered. We had the first reservation at 5 PM. We parked on the street, but you can park in the lot and they will validate your parking for you. The service was a 5/5 and the ambiance can be casual or fine dining. The lighting is perfect for a romantic night out and the view of the Providence River right over your shoulder. We made our own board: Umbriaco di Raboso "Drunken Cow" - amazing cheese, very high quality, sharp, not over powering. Definitely get it! Provolone - sharp very good quality provolone cheese Proscuitto di San Daniele - sliced very thin, soft and flavorful. I was very pleased with the portion size and the flavor. A must have! Spicy Olives - assorted olives with a spicy olive oil. All of the olives were fantastic and there definitely was a good kick from the spice. They threw in the pickles, jams, nuts and honey, all were fantastic. I really liked the blueberry jam. The warm tapas came out at all different times. Fried Bolognese olives - Although these were unique and delicious, I would skip these next time. The Bolognese is just a pinch on the inside of the olive. It would be a game changer if there was a side of Bolognese sauce to dip them in instead. Eggplant - Definitely a must order. Super simple sauce packed with flavor and the buffalo mozzarella is to die for. The pork belly is also a must order. Tons of flavor and not a lot of fat, which surprised me. It was a good sized portion too. Now of the the pizza...we ordered Pizza Salumi. Very thin dough, wood fired for the flavor and the crisp. There is a good amount of sauce, which can make the crust floppy, but it's so worth it! The flavor of the sauce is so good. All fresh and top quality ingredients. The soppressata was perfect, taking this pizza to the next the level. It was cut super thin, as it should, and gave the pizza the flavor a margarita is missing. It would be tough not to order this next time. So just as we should have been walking out of the door because we were so full, we had the duck and the wood fired NY strip to split among the three of us. The duck - The duck dish came with the two legs so it was the dark meat with crispy skin. The duck was flavorful, moist, tender, and had some sort of apple based sauce to accompany it. The mashed potatoes were great and the Gorgonzola chunks were a treat, especially while sipping the sangiovese/cab red wine blend that we ordered for the table. The NY Strip was my favorite. The steak was tender and came with the flavor from that wood fired grill. The sauce was so good that I dipped every piece in it, trying to reserve some for the mashed potatoes. I ordered the steak medium rare + and it came out just how I wanted it. We ordered the lemon tart for my mom's birthday dessert. I would skip the dessert next time, but I always skip dessert. My mother loved it...very fresh and vibrant. I would have to say that Bacaro is my favorite RI restaurant, especially for a special night out. It is also a perfect spot to go and grab a snack or two with friends after work with a drink. It is affordable as you want and can find high end alternatives as well. The bottle of wine was $48 and you couldn't have asked for a better pairing with all of the food. We also ordered an after dinner cocktail, called the Call to Italy...very refreshing for a digestive type cocktail.

The first thing you notice is the oven…read more Not the tables. Not the bar. The oven. It sits in the back of the room glowing like a furnace that keeps the whole place alive. Every few minutes the door opens and a wave of heat rolls out. The pozza maker leans in with a peel. Wood crackles. A pizza disappears into the fire. The room organizes itself around that rhythm. Figidini is small. Smaller than you expect when you first walk in. Wood everywhere. Low light over the bar and the tables. The kitchen sits in full view just a few feet from where people are eating. You can see the entire operation. Flour on the prep counter. Dough stretching across the board. The oven door opening and closing again and again. It feels less like a dining room and more like you've been invited to sit just outside the kitchen while the night moves around you. Cozy is the obvious word. Quiet is not. The room is loud. Very loud. Concrete floors. Tile. Wood. Glass. Hard surfaces everywhere. Sound doesn't fade here. It ricochets. Conversations bounce off the walls and stack on top of each other until the whole room hums. Then the bartender starts shaking a drink. The metal tins crash together like someone using a jackhammer. The sound cuts straight through the room. At certain points you find yourself leaning across the table and yelling just to finish a sentence. Service moves through that noise with quiet efficiency. Orders taken. Food delivered. Plates cleared. No hovering. No conversation. Just the steady rhythm of the room continuing around you. Then the pizza arrives. Whole. No slices. Just a pair of scissors sitting on the plate beside it. The crust rises high around the edge, blistered and spotted from the oven. Puffy and inflated like bread that caught the perfect blast of heat. When you press into it the rim compresses easily. Chewy on the outside. Tender inside. The center stays thin and soft the way a wood fired pie should. This one is their tomato pie, which means the tomatoes carry the whole flavor of the pizza. No blanket of mozzarella covering things up. Just crushed tomatoes spread across the dough with sliced garlic, herbs, olive oil, and a little grated cheese working quietly underneath. The sauce is bright and fresh. Slightly sweet. Tomato first, then garlic, then olive oil settling into everything. Each slice bends when you lift it. The rim holds. Exactly what you expect from a fast bake in a very hot oven. Simple food. Done carefully. And done well. There is also a slightly precious edge to everything and that might not sit well with everyone. Figidini is the kind of place where a five dollar eight ounce bottle of Coke arrives at the table next to a tiny glass holding two oversized ice cubes that already take up most of the space before the soda even touches it. Small room. Warm light. Loud energy. A little over curated. But the oven keeps burning. Another pie goes in. Another one comes out. And once the scissors hit the table and the first slice makes it to your plate, most of the rest of it fades into the background. Because at the center of all that noise and dim light and careful presentation is a simple idea executed very well. A wood fired tomato pie that tastes exactly the way it should.

Luckily we did make reservation for early dinner so we were able to find parking right away. We got there early so the restaurant wasn't open yet. We took a walk around the Westminster for a bit until the place was open. We were sat down right away. Inside is cozy with dim lights and open kitchen and some tables. They have few outside seating available as well. We started with some appetizer raw fish and combo as well as kohlrabi Caesar. We got black bass and a seasonal fish with combo that included lightly roasted oysters, shrimp and squid. All seafood was directly sourced from local port and fresh. Seafood appetizer was delicious. The caesar was interesting. I've never had kohlrabi but it reminded me of radish and it was tasty. Personally i would have preferred little less salt and olive oil so that flavor of the raw ingredient stand out more but was not too bad. My entree was the seafood risotto. Flavorful risotto with some seafood on top. Was a bit messy to eat because of the shells but was flavorful. The crab and shellfish itself was small and a bit underwhelming but the rice was rich and full of fish flavor. My mother had the cacio e Pepe which was good but she said that nothing comparable to one she had in Rome. I was not a huge fan of the thicker pasta but that's just is personal preference. Service was excellent but the table was a bit small and tight as we were very close to the next table and can hear what others are talking about so not a very privately setting. Overall i did like the place. Food and service were good. But it was not anything exceeding expectation and there were few things that detracted from our experience such as heavy seasonings, small dining space and etc... The price is quite expensive for the amount of food they serve as well. I think it's a good place for special occasions.

The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! I went in knowing next to nothing about cognac & left with a decent understanding of the spirit. I've always wanted to do something like this, & Sapphire made it extremely accessible. It was also amazingly affordable. I'm really looking forward to more events like this one. Sign me up, please.

I loved the Jacobean cocktail, so we both got this smooth scotch cocktail...Melissa made the drink with an expertise that few have and while she was making them, we engaged in conversation with Marc, the beverage manager. Both were very engaging and very friendly, making the visit very relaxed and enjoyable....we also got some steakhouse sliders that were outstanding...the meat was just slightly medium, keeping all the moistness and flavor.... Overall a great place for a drink and/or light bites...... The ambiance is inviting and cozy and the patio outside is great for those nice warm Rhode Island evenings....
