Her drink was perfect, served in an (antique?) jar. The bartenders were very friendly. And overall, the place had a cool, casual vibe.

Together with Kafe Lila, Machines With Magnets is forcing me to reconsider the city of Pawtucket,…read morewhich I had previously thought of as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV are." Currently I think of Pawtucket as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV and Kafe Lila and Machines With Magnets are," but if I spend enough time at KL and MWM, my view will undoubtedly become more nuanced. Machines With Magnets is a recording studio, art gallery, and performance space that has fast become my favorite music venue and possibly one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. The inside is beautiful, with two large rooms decked out in cool white paint and beautiful hardwood flooring (one floor is stenciled with an absolutely stunning pattern). Art of varied quality adorns the walls. I have now had the pleasure of attending two shows here--an electronic music performance and Quintron + Miss Pussycat--and I enjoyed them both. Watching bands perform with art as a backdrop is a pleasure. The sound is good and the venue is run fairly efficiently. At the latter show, they quickly cycled through four bands by alternating the rooms in which each band performed. Very smart. The crowds are fun and interesting. Drinks, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and even pizza are sold for reasonable prices. During my first visit, a friend turned to me and said, "I wish I lived here." "I wish I could DJ here," I replied. Until either of these things happens, I'll be stopping in periodically for more music and art. You should, too.

The service is great and so is the food. You got to try the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza and the Garlic Parm Wings are top notch. This isn't a food court type eatery. It is a full service restaurant. The bartender barely made eye contact, and when I ordered a spicy tequila soda, I was served with Tajín sprinkled on top--not exactly what I'd expect for a spicy drink. The food was equally underwhelming. The pepperoni pizza came out with the pepperoni completely burnt. When we mentioned it, we were told that's simply how they prepare it, so keep that in mind if you order pizza here. The wings were decent and had a good amount of meat on them, but that was about the only highlight. The nachos arrived swimming in grease, making them difficult to enjoy, and the toppings were just average. The French fries were another issue--they appeared to have been cooked in the same fryer as seafood. This wasn't disclosed, and the fries came out tasting noticeably fishy. Thankfully, I don't have a seafood allergy, but that could be a serious concern for someone who does. The ambiance was fine, but overall the food and service left a lot to be desired, and I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture. This is one of the signature cocktails and has Toasted Pumpkin Seed-Infused Misguided Spirits Red Sky Silver Rum/Cynar/St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur/Rosemary Elixir/Mole Bitters. It was very good. A time at Clementine's is always wonderful.

Every bite had great balance and you can tell they really care about the ingredients. One thing that really stood out to me was the seating. The Frida booths in the corner are the most comfortable restaurant seats I've ever sat in in my life. I could have stayed there all night. The atmosphere overall is fantastic. The lighting is mellow, the music is at the perfect level where you can actually talk without shouting, and the bartender was well-stocked and clearly knows what they're doing. Another bonus is the view. Looking out across the street at the park lit up at night is gorgeous and really adds to the vibe of the place. The only downside is parking, which can be a little tricky depending on when you go. But honestly, once you're inside and the food hits the table, it's totally worth it. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to

Our appetizers were gone by the time the drinks arrived. Our server gave us the "the bar is backed up" excuse, which didn't make sense given that one drink was a bottled soda, one fountain soda, a mocktail and a cocktail. Furthermore, several tables were seated around us, placed their drink orders, and had their drinks before our appetizers reached our table (both inside tables as well as those on the patio). I'm hoping the service issue was a lack of training, as it was not an incredibly busy day (surprising given pride was happening ‍). It was also mid afternoon so unaffected by any kind of rush. All in all I would try this place again, but maybe sit at the bar (which is a shame, the outdoor seating is beautiful!)/

YUM! Hangry Kitchen was on our list to try for a while, and I'm so glad we finally made it in!…read more Our server, Rob, was awesome. He was very welcoming and helpful with the menu. We started with some drinks - I customized one of their cocktail options to change the liquor and it was delicious! We wanted to try one thing from each section of the menu. We started with the beets which were light and citrusy. The crackers with them were crispy and paired perfectly. We also had the carrot bread grilled cheese, which was so unique! The fried fish collars were cooked super well and perfectly salted. We also got the bratwurst which were nicely charred with some yummy, mustardy potatoes. Our favorite dish was actually dessert! It was a delicious red velvet brownie that was super decadent but perfectly balanced with the filling. Definitely don't skip the dessert menu! Overall, it was a great experience. They mentioned that they change their menu seasonally, so we will definitely be back to try different options!
