We took a break from our gameplay at Level 99 to have a quick snack and some drinks here. My plan was to grab a beer, but after seeing their unique mixed drink options and taste testing from my friends drinks, I couldn't resist getting my own. The gentleman at the bar, Kevin, made phenomenal drinks and I didn't have one that I did not enjoy, however, the pistachio mai thai and the salted caramel espresso martini are worth mentioning. The seating area is spacious and you can see a nice view of the city.

They charge for every tea and soda you order! $5. The wings were mediocre. The pizza looked good.

Server came over to give us waters, came back quickly twice to take drinks then food orders. We were told our appetizers would come out shortly. Then we waited. Our food was finally brought out (all together). After we got everything we wanted more drinks. No one came back to check on the food or refill our drinks. Food was good, not great. The dipping sauces we ordered for the pretzel were really subpar. Beer cheese that was split and congealed, and guac that was dark and slimy. Everything else was decent. The standout part of the meal was actually the soup of the day, clam chowder. Cashing out with a gift card was a pain. We were also not provided an itemized receipt. The amount seemed way higher than expected. Either way, payment required two different transactions so we could tip on a credit card. Not their fault, but also our original server must have left, and the one that took over apparently was the only one on the floor even as the dining room started to fill up. Had we ordered more drinks like we wanted, it would have brought us over our gift card amount so we could have paid the remained with a credit card. I don't think we would go back.

This is an outdoor beer garden anchored by a serving stand in Burnside Park, on the west side of…read morethe skating rink and across the street from the Biltmore (or Graduate, whatever...). It's about a 5 minute walk down Fountain Street from the permanent Trinity. It opened during the pandemic, and for a couple years was the only place I would ever go out to for a drink. But even now that I've been back to going out for a while, I can say that this is still actually my favorite place for a drink, of all the many bars and breweries in and around PVD. Why? Because it's simple. You get a beer, you sit under the trees while the city moves around you, you drink. Simple. Maybe you go get another beer, or bring some takeout from somewhere. Simple. What is not simple or needed is "comedy" shows, bad bands, mediocre DJs with speakers that could handle lollapalooza. I also wish they would open in May, when the weather is fine for beer gardens, instead of waiting until June. It would be great to have a focus on keeping the beer selection decent (for a long stretch last year they had no IPAs) and opening on a regular/predictable schedule, and food from some of the great ethic places around rather than the frozen deep-fried overpriced apps of a middling hotel bar. I think, over time, that is what gets you more customers versus programming that has more volume than talent.

Love this spot! Great out door venue for all. Great drinks and a fun staff! This is a must!read more

"Hey Foo, good to see you, have a seat." said Antonio. "Menu please?" "Of course. Specials are on the board, what will you have for a drink?" "I'll have a Canadian Club Manhattan." "How about Rittenhouse Foo?" "Sounds good Antonio, best bartender but how about Crown Royal?" "Foo, relax, I'll make you a nice drink," said Antonio. "Hey Antonio," Foo says, "I'll have a cheeseburger, medium, no bacon, fries is okay." As Antonio put down my Manhattan I told him that I was at 22 Bowen's and ran into Chef Eric. Antonio said Eric invented the grind ratios for the Slow Rhode burgers. "Well, Foo believes you best burger in city. Not in state but in city," said Foo. Antonio said, "Who best in state?" Foo, me, the reviewer of the review leaned back in the barstool, looked around the funky ambiance space, and stroked the long scraggly beard Foo tries to grow and said, "I believe best burger is Clarke Cooke House on English muffin with the Gorgonzola." "Really?" "Yes, but one that beats that is Newport Creamery Big Beef patty melt!" "Yo homes, that's a tasty burger," said Antonio. "Righteous!" Foo yelled while giving daps and hugs to Antonio all while jamming a massive stack of grat, all tens, into his pocket and yelling, "My name Foo!" and disturbing the nice people at Slow Rhode. Foo loves Slow Rhode.

I've…read morebeen drooling over their social media posts ever since & was thrilled to finally get here. On a busy Saturday night, we were prepared to not find space, but gave it a shot. Luckily, there was a perfect corner of the bar had just opened & we grabbed the seats. The atmosphere was convivial, upbeat & super comfortable, despite the crowd. Service was fabulously friendly & competent - the bartender handling the packed house with ease. We decided to go with an array of small plates to try as much as possible. The menu it designed perfectly for grazing & the prices are super reasonable! The selections are definitely on the comfort-food side with a strong southern hint. Ingredients are often locally sourced - something I greatly admire. We began with the a small plate of Pimento Cheese Toast. Just a few bites each but a nice start. Duck Drumettes. The horseradish-y white sauce was delectable! Even my non-duck loving partner was blown away. I was happy to hear that the salad was available in a half portion - enough for a light fresh break to our heavy selections. Next came a much heavier choice - the gravy fries with duck confit. We left off the cheese, but it wasn't missed at all. These were decadent, delicious & super filling! Next time we'd get a half portion - that would have been plenty! Our final dish was the Shrimp & Grits, but we'd already filled up on the other dishes & ended up asking for this to go. Even reheated, it was a perfectly delicious accompaniment to our brunch the next day! I'd be tempted to order this to-go again for just that purpose. While we didn't imbibe, the cocktail list looked wonderful & the bar was very well stocked. We did enjoy a nice selection from the interesting beer list. The sandwiches that we saw come out looked delicious & huge! We'd love to try them as well. We will be back - this is certainly a new favorite for us!

Entry is $10, or $35 annual memberships (start September every year). The prices of the cocktails are so reasonable and rare to see in Providence at $10 to $12. The beer offerings vary from cans or draft, with impressive offerings such as Bissell Brothers from Portland, Maine. As someone in their 30s, I do give warning this is more an undergrad/grad place so late hours are usually crowded with students (after 9pm). I usually drink there earlier in the evening as a pre game spot lol I will always recommend Grad Center Bar.

We visited around 8pm on a Saturday, and there was a line of about 15 people in the stairwell. We waited about 20 minutes to get in, with $5 entry fee per person. And it was well worth it all because - honestly, you just gotta experience it! It is a typical dive bar with affordable drinks, but it's not shitty drinks either! We got a green tea shot to get our night started - Jameson whiskey, peach schnapps, sour mix, sprite. Very refreshing and goes down pretty easily, can't even taste the alcohol but it's definitely there! Such a chill place to wind down and catch up with buddies! Maybe play a game of pool while you're at it!
