I really love this place and so does my family. They remember you and treat you well. I am in and out of the hospital quite frequently and one time they were so concerned about why they hadn't seen us that they wondered what happened and if they had done something wrong and were very sorry about my recent hospitalisation. The food is excellent, comes quickly, and is bountiful. The service is excellent and very courteous and pleasant. They have a bar as well as a restaurant space and children do well there. Food is amazing here. The servers are so nice. The only downside is you do have to park down the street because their parking lot is small.

Margaritas were acidic and tart. Aftertaste wasn't too pleasant. I'd recommend asking for a higher grade tequila and maybe a mango one if you get one. Burrito and enchilada was ok #11 but the sauce. Honestly tasted like Alpo dog food smells. And zero spice. Very very bland. Needs some life!! However, it doesn't look like much but their tacos-ask for extra meat! Really delish!! The service is good, and the place was bright and cheery, but the food and drinks are terrible. The margarita is a huge undrinkable globe of sugar water and ice. No flavor or tequila or lime. To their credit, when I complained they didn't charge me. Similarly, the entree had almost no spice. It tasted like it had been frozen. Taco Bell is a lot tastier. to make matters worse, they covered everything in American cheese. American cheese in a Mexican restaurant? I can't understand the less than stellar reviews, I think this place is great! As a vegetarian I love Mexican food and these folks have a special section of the menu just for us. I've never had anything I wasn't happy with and I was just there 2 nights ago. They start with complementary chips and salsa which are the best! And their margaritas have never disappointed. We have been dining here and ordering takeout for what seems like forever. The food is consistently delicious and you never get a bad meal, Their Fajitas are amazing! We usually order steak but have also ordered the chicken. Once they forgot to include the tortillas in our take out order but not a big deal. Their Quesadillas and taco salad are very good too. My husband has enjoyed several of their combination dinners as well as the Chimichangas over the years. The Burrito De Luxe and the Grande Burrito are amazing. We ordered the Fried Ice Cream once and it was very tasty. Their chips and salsa are homemade and always are fresh. We like to support local businesses and this is one that is well worth supporting. I can now see why this place is usually empty. I would hate to say it was a bad dinner, the staff is truly nice which makes up for the lack luster food that is presented. We had a pre-movie, late brunch which consisted of an order of chimichangas and a shrimp quesadilla. Both were "meh"... quesadilla truly tasted like they used an American cheese sauce which wasnt the flavor I was expecting. The chimichangas wernt horrible, but the beef was dry and the "bean soup" (I think they pulverize the refried beans!)doesnt add to the excitement. The service from the second we walked in was absolutely unacceptable. Extremely miserable and couldn't be bothered. Then we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take a drink order and she was just as miserable and looked as though we were interupting her standing around. Well, I have eaten here enough to know that Most of the food is just mediocre. This is not going to be the best Mexican food you have ever had or even an amazing dining Experience. However, with that being said I can highly recommend the chicken flautas with a side of rice and beans. This is the only thing on the menu that I have Enjoyed eating and it is actually very good! We came here this past weekend with a relatively larger group (10 adults, 1 child and a baby!). Our waitress was kind enough to do separate bills which made paying at the end easy to do. The prices are super affordable for eating out, however the portions match the prices. I don't think anyone in our party had leftovers. Food came to our tables in waves, and I'm a bit unsure that I got what I ordered, but it tasted good. Beware - Waitress changed the amount of tip on my credit card last Saturday night. I did not tip 15% due to her poor service that evening (food for three arriving at two different times, clearing dishes without asking if we wanted take home boxes, ignoring our table several times, etc.) but I did leave 10%. Imagine my surprise when I checked with my bank on Monday and saw a different amount than what I recorded for our meal. Went to restaurant to ask to see original slip, manager produced it, and it had obviously been changed. All he said was "he would look into it". Did not appear upset, just offered to reimburse me the difference in cash. Beware - I will not be visiting again. We popped into El Azteca for a quick dinner. The place was empty, only one other table. We were waited on quickly. However, the waitress was preoccupied and took our order wrong. My boyfriend ordered meat fajitas and I had ordered Veggie fajitas. However, when she brought the food we ended up with a meat fajita and a veggie quesadilla. Given the fact that I do not eat cheese, this was not something I could shrug my shoulders at and just eat. My boyfriend tried to be nice and wait for them to bring me what I had ordered, but it took so long for them to replace my food that his was almost cold before he started eating again. So, we ended up eating separately which was disappointing. When I finally got my dish, there was a lot of charred pieces in it and it was mostly onions. We never got an apology, and the waitress fought us that she wasn't wrong. This is not someplace I would run back to. read more

So sad that Rhode Island yelpers don't know the difference between Chihuahua cheese and American cheese. No, nothing has cheddar on it. What you're tasting is authentic Mexican-style melting cheese. This place is not the best Mexican food I've ever eaten, but it is a decent place to get Mexican without heavy spice. Consequently, my kids loved it. Even the salsa wasn't spicy, but it was still full of fresh tomatoes and had a nice flavor. My infant daughter devoured the enchilada. Sometimes, getting Mexican shouldn't involve getting a baby-sitter. That's why I'll be back. read more

I sat at the bar and they gave us all chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't that great. It tasted like it came right from a can. For my meal, I had the veggie fajitas. The veggies were pretty good and there was a nice variety. However it came with refried beans which are typically made with pork or bacon so doesn't make sense to have them on the vegetarian portion of the menu. It also came with rice, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and sour cream. They didn't give enough of lettuce, tomato, or guacamole for the amount of fajitas I ate though. The guacamole was nothing special but wasn't terrible. For drinks, I started with a Modelo and then switched to mixed drinks. The mixed drinks come in a large tall glass so you definitely get your money's worth. They weren't watered down either. My friends bought pitchers of mango margaritas. I didn't try them but they said they were great. I wouldn't necessarily avoid this place (if my friends asked me to meet them here again, I'd go) but I wouldn't come here on my own. I used to frequent the restaurant years past and found myself there last night. Not much has changed: The good: -More authentic than most. This is not tex mex, as such it doesnt have some of the spicy influences. To this some will call bland. It actually has a more Guatemalan influence, i believe the owners are from there in fact? Prices. Everything is cheap. Youll spend not much less in taco bell. The salsa and chips were excellent, chips were warm and crisp and the salsa was stubbornly authentic, devoid of much cilantro and spice. Margaritas are favorable and strong. I'm a huge fan of flan and enjoyed Aztecs. Flan is usually custard's or cheesecake's depending on whether it has cream cheese. Aztec's is an in strongroom and rich without being overly heavy. The not so good: The restaurant itself is also not that much different than what you would expect in southern Mexico. Its small, inexpensively decorated, not dirty but you wonder what the kitchen looks like. There is a jukebox that will fill the room through one speaker on request. 3 songs for a dollar even. My son played a selection of KISS songs upon leaving to every ones annoyance I'm sure. The service is spotty, always friendly but communication might be a challenge to some (i speak Spanish so no issues here). I was disappointed the combination plate didnt come with the assumed rice and beans. When i ordered a side it never came... Overall i enjoy the place. Not for everyone as its not aesthetically pleasing or spicy but you cant argue its authentic-for better or worse. read more

El Azteca would be a good choice for Restaurant Impossible as it does almost look like a rundown Mexican joint you'd find in Cancun, but it's not bad. It's not great, but it's not bad. Beers are $3 (yay), the warm chips/salsa are pretty good, and service is fine, BUT: 1. The atmosphere is themed a little too much like they're saying "Let's have a Mexican fiesta!" - kitschy for sure. I'd prefer a darker atmosphere. 2. They love cheese...LOVE it. I got the pollo fundido (chicken in a cheese sauce) but asked for steak instead...I did indeed get the steak but it wasn't the highest quality steak and the cheese was just...well...was it Velveeta? Who knows, but I was hungry and ate it all. If you're hankering for some cheap beers and don't mind overlooking the fact that it's not the best-looking place around and you're not going to get authentic Mexican food, then by all means check it out. I'm sure I'll be back at some point but it's not going to be on my regular restaurant rotation list. read more

The restaurant is cute and more spacious than it appears on the outside. The menu has lots of options for everyone and the prices are low so it's easy to get sucked into ordering a bunch of different things to try (like I did). We started with margaritas, I ordered the regular frozen and my friend ordered a peach one. My drink didn't seem to be blended well, when I took a sip it tasted very watered down but after stirring it a few times it started to taste more like a margarita. We ordered lots of different stuff. I ordered a carnitas taco, a tamale, a chicken enchilada and some rice and beans. The food wasn't exactly like I pictured it, or how I've had it at other Mexican restaurants. Everything had a brown sauce on it, which while it was tasty I kept wondering if I had received the wrong thing. My friend enjoyed her shrimp dish as well as her tamale. The service is decent. Sometimes we couldn't find our waitress but it wasn't anything crucial that needed immediate attention. The price was just right for what we got which was a tasty Mexican dinner. read more

Just started getting take out dinner occasionally from Azteca when we're in the mood for some fresh Mexican style food. I love the simplicity of it. Great taco salads...I love the chicken my husband likes the beef and he rarely likes beef from anywhere. When the take out gets home my taco shell in my salad is still crispy. I wondered what about Azteca was keeping it alive in a tough economy, my husband says good food, inexpensive and you can get a beer and watch tv while you wait for your food. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. If you walk in the building, the servers look at you like you, a paying customer, are bothering them. I can usually just ignore that because the food is always delicious........until recently. I asked for extra cheese sauce on my nachos because they never put enough on. The waitress told me that it was going to be $3.50 (which is absolutely insane). I told her I don't want extra cheese then, just please make sure there is some cheese on there. She rolled her eyes and walked away before I could say anything else. My friend and I both got the same dish. We had BARELY any cheese on the nachos. Almost as if she did it on purpose. I was aggravated and I let it go. We paid the bill and left. Then I started to think about the check and realized that it was expensive for the two things we got. I didn't have a receipt, so I decided to call the store for a breakdown of the receipt. I was charged for extra cheese on the nachos. The nachos we had had barely any cheese in them whatsoever, so yeah, I wasn't having it. Overall, I've heard the Attleboro location is way better. Definitely had an enjoyable experience here! The staff were prompt and friendly. The nachos are made fresh, in house. The food is fresh and delicious. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is because the dessert was sub par. Just not that great. Top notch for everything else and definitely recommend! read more
