We came here for one thing and it was 100% worth it - the flaming espresso martini! Our waiter even asked if we wanted our names written on it. Such a fun experience. The music is loud and it feels like a club vibe inside so definitely not a family restaurant but super fun for date night or drinks with friends. read more

Honestly really disappointed with this experience. From the second we walked in, the staff made us feel like we were inconveniencing them just by being there. We ordered a hummus tray as an appetizer and somehow it came out at the SAME time as our entrees. I genuinely don't understand that, especially when it's hummus and pita chips and there really isn't anything that needs to be cooked. Why bring the appetizer out with the actual meal?? By the time I tried to enjoy the hummus and move onto my entree, my food was already cold. The hummus itself was pretty bland, the burger was overcooked and burnt, and the pita chips weren't good either. There was also this cigarette-like taste to the food that I couldn't get past. Unfortunately, between the service, the timing and the food, this was just a really disappointing experience. I really wanted to like this place, but I wouldn't go back based on this visit. read more

I went to Layali with a friend of mine. We got flaming espresso martinis.(I was skeptical since I'm not the biggest espresso martini person (has to be made right, not too sweet, etc.) I actually really enjoyed this one. The bartender was pretty cool, but the restaurant was busy but service was still great The restaurant itself sits slightly below street level, but is not exactly underground. Rather the restaurant is in the basement of one of the buildings downtown. I recommend Layali for good espresso martinis and order their cocktails read more

Food/Drinks: I've been here multiple times, and they have the best martinis. I feel like finding a spot where the martinis are very strong but also extremely tasty is really difficult, and they honestly do an amazing job! I'm also not just talking about their signature martinis with the names. They have different types of martinis and fruity ones as well, and those are just as delicious, maybe even a little better than their signature ones, which always hit the spot regardless. I usually come here to chitchat with friends and catch up for drinks, so I haven't gotten huge meals, but I've heard that the food is delicious, and I definitely will be coming back to try it. I did try their charcuterie board, and it's so delicious and filling, and perfect for picking at a little something while you have your delicious drinks. Location: This location is right in the heart of downtown PVD. This place definitely gives more business casual vibes, but you can definitely dress up to go on a date. If I'm not mistaken, Friday and Saturday nights definitely have more of a club vibe after a certain time, but during the week, I've also gone before, and it's very low-lit, romantic, and honestly perfect for any occasion, especially with the type of drinks they have! Parking can be a little difficult because it's downtown, but you can always try to get street parking with a little walk. I honestly find parking down the street, and it's not that hard. There's also parking you can pay for right on the corners, so there are different ways of finding a place to park. Taking an Uber would be a great idea as well, so you don't have to deal with anything and can drink as much as you want. They do not have valet. Service: The service has always been super friendly and very accommodating. Honestly, all the times that I've gone, they've been very helpful with helping us get seats and just giving us a great experience, even with how busy it gets. This is definitely a spot that I not only recommend to everyone, but it's somewhere that I will continue to go because it's genuinely one of my favorites! read more

I had never been to Layali, and had heard so many good things, so I decided to give it a try. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience! I had the flaming espresso martini, which they write your name on it in chocolate, and it was very good! For food, the hot olives and hummus and pita chips were the perfect appetizers. We also had a special app (fried pork dumplings), which were delicious. For meals, we had the chicken kabob entree and a kefta kabob entree (they kindly allowed me to substitute kefta in instead of chicken), both of which hit the spot. Both entrees came with hummus, pita, and rice pilaf; only qualm was that the pita seemed to be stale. In terms of ambiance, it was not too loud and would be nice for dinner and drinks with a date or a friend. Service was also good, however, I felt like we were checked on a little too heavily (it felt like every 10 minutes); however, our server was very nice and was probably just being kind. Overall, I would definitely go again :) read more

Big menu, well executed. Friendly peeps bring out the food from the talented kitchen. Also: ducktinis.

Layali's menu offers a variety of appetizers, salads, entrees, and even pizzas with unique flavor combinations. Dessert options include classics like Cheesecake and Tiramisu, alongside more unique choices like Baklava. The cocktails are a definite highlight, you have to order the Flaming Espresso Martini which is more than just a drink, it's an experience, arriving in flames with an edible chocolate garnish. The staff is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is vibrant yet at times can be a bit too crowded and loud read more

Layali is always incredible. Some of my favorite French fries on earth- the crispy outside/battered delciousness and the hot yummy inside! Flatbreads are pretty good too. read more

Our experience at Layali was pretty disappointing unfortunately. We were able to get a table quickly, which was a plus. Service was also generally good. I was disappointed because I had heard good things about the restaurant, so I'm hoping our experience isn't the norm. The food and drinks were mediocre. The burger was very dry and not cooked well. The patty itself was charred so much that it was completely black on the outside, which made it bitter. I ordered it medium rare and there was maybe a square inch that was medium. The chicken sandwich was good, nothing outstanding. The best part of the meal was the crispy Brussels sprouts! The cocktail I had (a speciality lemon blueberry option) was just okay. It didn't have a lot of flavor other than alcohol and a little sweetness. The space was also SO loud. It was a Saturday night around 8/9, so I expect it to be busy. However, there was loud music playing which also caused everyone to speak loudly. My husband and I couldn't even hear each other from across the table. Not exactly what I want for a dinner atmosphere personally. I don't think we will be back unfortunately. read more

I came here for my birthday and it was such an excellent choice for a birthday dinner! For one, I have been on a martini kick this summer. I guess I have finally matured to the point of enjoying hand-crafted cocktails. Of course, when I saw the flaming espresso martini, I had to have it. First off, they write your name in chocolate on the top, then float some sort of flammable alcohol in the center on a little boat of a half moon chocolate. Can we say decadent? It was delicious, as was my lobster ravioli, which was rich, and creamy and a large enough portion that I had leftovers. This is a small place, just a one room restaurant with maybe a dozen tables inside. We made a reservation kind of early on a Thursday and had no problem getting in, but I can bet this place is packed on the weekends. We brought my teenage son with us, and not that this is really a family place, but they were able to accommodate his picky eating habits with some plain pasta in butter that he really enjoyed. If it's not already, Layali should definitely be on your list for your next date night or Girls' night out. read more

First time at Layali, had birthday dinner for a friend. Group of 6, made reservations online; received a call to confirm the day before, which was really nice! It's located downtown and as usual, parking is horrible ! Unless you want to pay 15+ to park at a lot or garage (lots of those near restaurant) you have to drive around and pray to find a spot. The hostess at restaurant was great! She greeted me right away and was understanding that i was waiting for the others in my party. We got sat in the back corner; our waitress was nice but i felt bad for her since half my party was super late (due to traffic/parking) and we didn't want to order until they got there. We decided to order a few things to share; all the food was delicious ! From calamari to ravioli, everyone loved each option. We brought a cake and the restaurant had no issue holding it in the back and bringing it out after we ate. They brought out cake knive and plates; thete wasn't any cake/cutting fee that many restaurants offer. After 9pm they turned the lights down and the vibe felt more like a lounge; it got way busy too. Since open till 1am on Saturday im sure it gets great late night crowds. Definitely a fun spot and i would recommend for groups and for dates. read more

A wonderful dining experience with Ary as the server and Alec at the bar! My drinks, food and the service were WONDERFUL! A truly extremely satisfied customer! The ambiance is giving speakeasy vibes. This spot is trendy any time of day. I have enjoyed late night bites, and midday meals. Both very good and flavorful. The staff was the best! Very friendly and attentive. Parking is only on the street and you have to walk down stairs to get in. read more

Great girls night or date night spot! A more mature crowd with great music it does get packed however so arrive early and I would uber. They have security and bouncers as well , great aesthetic drinks and their service is great when it isn't a busy night for sure however worth the wait! Been here dozens of times. read more

I loved this spot! Stopped here spontaneously while we were in the area and got some yummy drinks food and even a delicious dessert. Our waiter was so lovely he was helpful with answering any questions and very knowledgeable about the menu. We got dumplings to start and then a burger. The sauce the dumplings came with was tasty and so was the burger then for dessert I think we got some sort of apple pie that was unexpected because it was cold when I thought it'd be warm but it was good too! Drinks 10/10 as well. read more

Really used to love this place but after Saturday night's experience, we won't be back. We request this establishment and have also enjoyed it there. Saturday night, we ordered drinks and were sat by the owner. 5 mins or so into our visit, the server asked us to get up because he had a reservation. I had take about two sips of my drink, there was zero standing room so I had to leave the drink I just ordered and paid for. The interaction was very strange and seemed like the server just wanted to give the table to someone he knew. We were paying customers and I am offended that we couldn't even finish our drink. This experience has ruined our feelings of this place and we won't be back. read more

Great food and drinks! Gets very busy on the weekend so if you want a table make sure you call ahead. Bar seating is always great also!

Came in for drinks and small bites with the girls on Saturday night. The place was the most crowded I've seen. The noise level was hard on conversations; but we had fun. Knocking off 1 star for the 20% added gratuity, not cool. read more

Honestly, the food is a five stars...extraordinary.... but so unnecessarily loud! Sat one table over from a group bellowing into their phones; callers were on speaker; whatever they were listening to had sirens blaring.. staff did... nothing. Larger party came; 4 of the party were literally yelling .as the way they conversed. we kept exchanging' gotta be kidding !' looks with the table next to us. staff... did...nothing. I'd have loved another PERFECT cocktail and loved every bite... but couldn't take the mayhem any more. It honestly was comical. The blaring phones sealed it for us... sad , as the food is amazing. read more

Been here twice. I def prefer it during the week because the weekends is overcrowded, super loud music and all college age kids in here. I like a more intimate setting and it was just a bit wild the second time we came. The mojitos r awesome, the calamari is very good and I even ate the friend orange which was surprisingly yummy! The warm olives r good but they are not pitted! So it can be a pain if u dnt wanna have to spit the seeds out. My friend ordered some fancy shot that they lit on fire and he had to blow it out, the whole place started ordering them after that. I like the fact that the tables have candles but one young girl at another table put her hair in it by mistake and the whole place smelled of burning hair for 15 mins. The waitress we had the second time was so accommodating and nice, she was on top of everything and very quick. The first time we came it was quiet that night but I remember being checked on often. Parking isn't fun but it's providence so it sucks everywhere lol. U do get carded at the door when u enter. One bathroom for male and one for females.... This is another reason I dnt like the weekends here, these young college kids would take 5 friends in the bathroom together and be in there forever while the line would just back up to the point people had to just use whateva room was available. The bathrooms could be checked in on a little more frequently, my friend had no toilet paper or paper towels when she had gone in. I had to use the men's room because the party of 5 girls doing god know what in the ladies room was in there for 20 mins and I couldn't wait anymore. The men's room wasn't the cleanest but.... Def recommend on a quiet evening for 30+ who isn't trying to party, but if u do want a livelier atmosphere the weekends are for u! read more

Another gem of a restaurant where everything is excellent from start to finish. The staff is always super friendly and efficient. It's always a great crew. Probably, one of the most unique and decadent cocktails in the state. Their specialties? The flaking martinis & the flaming shots. I think I can recommend every appetizer, every dinner option and every dessert on the menu. I find the clientele is also great to chat with. Just a 5 star experience. read more

Sitting outside at Layali is always a magical experience. If you take a stroll down the left arm of the streets that circle downtown Providence's Turk's Head Building in a lithic, set fast embrace, you may find a series of red tables. If you are feeling a bit thirsty, peckish, or otherwise beckoned by the temptation that is Layali, you may find yourself seated at one of these tables. And if this happens, consider yourself very lucky, because you, my friend, are about to embark upon a journey that will dazzle the senses. The collaboration of the excellent food, service, and the ever rotating zoetrope of Providence life in the background never ceases to amaze. Magnifique! read more

I discovered Layali purely by accident! My friend and I had made arrangements to dine elsewhere in the area one evening and turned out that spot had closed for the week for renovations. I was looking for another option for outdoor dining in the neighborhood and happened upon Layali. We were NOT disappointed in the change of plans. I enjoyed a delicious blueberry sage (I think it was?) margarita. We split the calamari and both ordered the shrimp spaghetti. The spaghetti was far and away the highlight of the evening. We were both really impressed that such a simple dish could be so fantastic and flavorful. It was very saucy and just perfection. I am drooling just thinking about it! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that although most of the staff we encountered were EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and helpful, the actual server assigned to our table was nice but not overly friendly or warm. It was totally fine and we still had a wonderful meal but his lack of exuberant warmth was noticeable next to the other super super friendly and helpful staff. I definitely plan to return and would be hard-pressed to sway from that amazing spaghetti although so much of the menu looks appealing! read more

Absolutely great food, service and ambiance! My wife and I visited Layali for a late dinner. We will certainly be back again.

Layali is located in downtown Providence. It's the epitome of a nice, sultry cocktail bar/restaurant. I recently visited Layali to celebrate a birthday with a large party (8 people). Reservations were made ahead of time. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She was extremely helpful when it came to navigating the menu and recommending good drinks and food to try. I ordered one cocktail, Thyme For Some Mezcal ($12), and the Lobster Ravioli (~$24) for dinner. The cocktail blended the nice and earthiness of the thyme with the smokiness and charred taste of the Mezcal. If you like Mezcal, this is a drink you must try! My Lobster Ravioli was phenomenal. It's the real brag of this post. Real chunks of lobster packed into fresh raviolis all mixed into this delicious pink vodka cream sauce. It's one mouthwatering dish! read more

This place fell off on so many categories. The menu changed and so did much of what they had. Originally visited in 2019. Martini's we're on point, the garnish and flavor were untouchable. Today they offer a full menu besides appetizers, but now have a small list of special drinks. The drinks were not impressive, similar to what you find at Applebee'sor Chilli's. Second, the service is strapped for the amount of tables they have now. They are maximizing seating from a bar to a restaurant format with reservation options. Which for a bar doesn't make sense. It's overly crowded and extremely noisy for the amount of people in such a small space. read more

I visited this restaurant twice in one week while visiting for business in mid-September 2024. The only reason I went back a second time is because it was the closest place to my hotel, and I didn't feel like traveling far. I enjoyed the chicken parm on my first visit, and a filet on the second visit. The chicken parm was great, nice and tender, the breading was crispy, and the sauce had a good flavor. The sides were decent, but had room for improvement, they weren't the freshest veggies. The filet wasn't as good as the chicken parm, it had gristle which should not exist in a filet. It was cooked to the correct medium rare temp. Mashed potatoes were dry and barely warm. Chocolate cake was dry. A major issue I had, in addition to the disappointing food, was with the manager sitting at the largest booth in the corner, with a "Reserved" sign and stacks of paperwork, akin to a desk. Not only was she using the dining room as her office on both nights, on the second visit she was smoking a vape pen the entire time, which interrupted my meal with a chemical stench. Not cool. Next time I will travel to find a better place. read more
