A fun Cinco de Mayo private event last night at the Rooftop at the Providence G! The atmosphere was lively & festive, with great energy all night long. The food stations were a huge hit: delicious tacos, loaded nachos, assorted pizza, unique egg rolls & a trio of churros with chocolate & dulce de leche sauces. It was a fun mix of options, so there was truly something for everyone. The staff was friendly & easy to find whenever we needed anything, which made the event run seamlessly. One unexpected highlight was the view! I don't usually think of Providence as having a standout skyline but it looked absolutely beautiful from the rooftop. We had one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've ever had here. After being seated, our waitress greeted us, brought water, and said she'd be back shortly to take our drink order. When we arrived, we were also told the table was reserved at 7:15 p.m., so we understood we needed to move efficiently and had no issue with that. Unfortunately, after dropping off water, our waitress never returned. We waited approximately 25 minutes without anyone checking on us -- no server, no manager, no acknowledgment at all. Eventually, we decided to leave. What made the experience more frustrating was the pricing. The cocktail menu listed drinks averaging around $18 and mocktails around $14 -- among the highest we've seen in Providence -- yet we never even had the chance to order or try anything. There was also no bread service or any effort to engage with us while we waited. We understand that restaurants get busy, but being completely overlooked for that long -- especially after being told to hurry due to a reservation -- was unacceptable. We went at an off time...around 4pm on a Tuesday. It is early spring, and I'm looking for any opportunity to sit outside. It wasn't quite warm enough to be completely outside, which is why the Rooftop was so perfect. They have a retractable greenhouse roof. The whole place is like you're sitting in a greenhouse, and the roof was open, but it was warm inside in the sun and protected from the wind outside. Worth mentioning they have 2 outdoor patios on the rooftop too that are outside the greenhouse. The patios have gas fire pits that are surrounded by comfortable outdoor lounge furniture. There are plants and flowers on the outside patios and pretty lights. We tried 3 cocktails, all of which were delicious. My friend said it was the best pina colada she ever had. I tried an old fashion and it was perfect. We didn't stay for dinner because we had plans at an Italian restaurant on Federal Hill that night. It was a fantastic place to stop and rest for an afternoon drink. Highly recommend. read more

Had a girls night out and had dinner here before going to the PPAC for a show. The atmosphere was amazing! So light and vibrant and being able to actual be on the rooftop but still be inside was so fun! There is a great selection of drinks. A smaller selection of food but a good variety. I had the white cranberry cosmopolitan and it was so refreshing. Ordered the crab Rangoon dip and it was amazing along with the cucumber salad which was light and refreshing. Our waitress was attentive but also gave us enough space to enjoy our meal. read more

3.5 stars. The food is so so overall. The best one was fried whole fish. Fried bass fried with crispy outer layer, super tender meat that's flavorful (vs bland). Skip the brussel sprout, calamari, shishito pepper, and burrata salad (didn't like these). Other dishes that are worth ordering are tuna tartar appetizer, Roni pizza, fried artichoke hearts, and banana pudding (better if it's served warm) The service was so so. Brought flat water vs sparkling, and didn't bring enough water glasses and sharing plates. We had to go to the bar to ask for these each time. Nice ambience on the rooftop but can get cold during the night. They would benefit from having some heat warmers in the main dining area on the rooftop. Prosecco was pretty good. read more

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon while it was 70 degrees out. We got a seat by the fire pit. Fire pits are shared but it wasn't a busy day and they are large so there's lots of space between the 2 of us and other guests seated opposite from us. It's a great outdoor space for nice weather. I also like that there's an indoor space made of glass so you can still feel outdoor while indoor. We got some drinks and appetizers. Rhode Island Calamari - top 5 best I've ever had. The batter was super light and texture was perfectly cooked and came with an aoili sauce. 5/5 Yucca Fries 4/5 Lamb meatballs- mix of lamb and beef. I was surprised by how many meatballs you get and how big they are- I do wish they were slightly cooked more or at least crispier or charred on the outside. The pita bread was toasted a little too long. It didn't go well with the other items we got so I don't want to rate it too harshly but independently I'd give it 4/5 Service was fine, everything was served quickly. read more

Rooftop at Prov G is a nice chill out spot for dinner and drinks with a dj playing all the hits. You do have to take an elevator up to the rooftop once off the elevator you have about 2-3 step where you will be asked for id. There is valet parking. They have a bar but no barstools on this night. You can have your meal near the fire pit but keep in mind there is a $55 pp to sit there or you can sit at a table for free. We sat at a table near the end corner to enjoy the night view as we only went for drinks. The staff, waitress were all nice. I would say this is a younger crowd but older adults can also go seeing it is downtown. If you valet your car they ask for your phone number and once you're ready to leave you can text the number and they will get your car ready. read more

My husband and I came here on a cold Saturday night in February, winter and full swing. We weren't able to enjoy the rooftop as much as we'd like to because of the weather, however, we were still able to go outside and imagine how wonderful it is with temperate weather and the fireplace outside. We only came for drinks for a quick date night out, but it's definitely a spot that will come backto. My coffee milk espresso martini was fantastic and the CALAMARI!!!! I would 10 out of 10 have it again. The vibes. there were pretty awesome, chill crowd, not overrun with a ton of folks... Granted there was supposed to be a blizzard that night. I recently went to the Rooftop to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a Tuesday night so the vibe was very lowkey which was perfect for us. We sat at the firepit. It is nice and cozy at the firepit, but definitely better to have drinks there vs a meal. It is communal so other people will be sitting around the firepit with you and your party. The service was solid everyone was very friendly and dishes/drinks came out quickly. We mostly stuck with the appetizers. My friend was all about the crab dip and I really enjoyed the fried artichoke hearts. Dessert options were limited, but we still liked the banana bread pudding. Would I like this place as much when it's super crowded, no. But for a weeknight it was a lovely setting for low key dinner and drinks. read more

Met some old friends here for dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. Our server was just as prompt and was both friendly and attentive throughout our experience. Wish my receipt had her name so I could give her credit for her efforts. I was expecting a bustling madhouse since it was such a beautiful night but surprisingly, it wasn't that busy. Cocktail menu was fairly comprehensive, had many tequila based drinks but very few whiskey drinks (it's fall in NE and my mind goes to maple manhattans). Price was around $15 which I think is reasonable for a down city spot with views. Beer menu lacked depth and had almost no local craft brews but the prices were fair. Food was decent but nothing out of this world. I had the burger and it was cooked perfectly but a little drenched in the aioli for my liking. The fries were nicely seasoned and crispy. The chicken had good flavor but was a little overcooked. Overall, I think this is a great place to grab a few drinks with a view before you go to dinner or possibly for an aperitif. read more

It is an interesting location with a roof of glass and a patio with firepits and comfy chairs. It's a worth see city building view and a partial sunset over buildings. Our service was very good and brought us the happy hour menu so we beat the prices by half on appetizers. And that was a good thing cause it was mediocre food. Lamb meatballs were ok, but needed more lamb and a better sear. The corn "ribs" were seasoned well and funky for sure... cut rows of corn. Breaded cauliflower bites were a kinda hard in spots making the bites uneven in texture. Lastly I enjoyed Jamestown oysters in half shell for $2 happy hour price, fantastic. Nice super Tuscan wine and chocolate tort for dessert was tasty. read more

If it's a bit chilly outside, i'd recommend sitting next to the fire. I had a sleeveless top on but the fire kept me so warm, i could barely notice the cold weather. If I hadn't sat next to the fire I probably would've froze since I didn't bring a jacket. The cocktails were absolutely delicious. Reservations at 5p for 6 people. Only 4 other tables occupied. Not busy. So why was the service so awful? We had told them we had theatre tickets at 7p. Our food didn't come out until 6:22p! So we had to rush eating ! Not enjoyable! Not to mention they never brought out an app and the steaks were too well done! No time for dessert for my son's birthday celebration! Awful service for such an upscaled restaurant. FYI....WICKED is at the theatre until March 22nd so if you're looking to eat dinner beforehand and enjoy your dinner .... However, we waited almost 20 minutes for a server (we had a reservation) after we had to flag someone down from inside to inquire if someone was going to wait on us. Jefrey (the executive chef) came to our aid and was wonderful shortly after a manager came and brought us waters and took our order. A server finally arrived with my drink about 15 minutes later which was the UltraViolet (delicious) but missing the sugared rim & edible orchid (which I was told they had run out of yesterday due to a large party)...oh well. Another person in my party asked for a warm water w/a slice of lemon & received a mug of hot water with a few tea bags ($3.50) ‍. I'm not even sure who our server technically was bc a couple different people came with drink vs food vs check. So it was not an enjoyable experience like I had been anticipating for weeks. My Burrata was just ok, kinda slimy and soggy & the crostini was burnt. The Margherita pizza was cold and soggy also, the Rooftop burger and fries was delicious & cooked to perfection. Also the Chicken & Dumpling soup was delicious. Maybe they were under staffed...idk but it was very disappointing & not just for us; the party next to us also waited forever with no service & each person went into the bar to retrieve drinks themselves. Worst espresso martini I've ever had. I am by no means high maintenance. Asked the bartender how they made their espresso martinis and they said they used espresso. Well they lied and this was the sweetest awful drink ever. Tell me the truth and I will order something else. Easy paean. This bartender was so put out by my question, then lied to me. I came back to the Rooftop at the Providence G with my coworkers on a hot July summer day. The views were amazing like before, but it was just super hot. The ceiling fans were unfortunately not doing much. Service was wonderful and very attentive. I started with the Garden Of Earthly Delights cocktail. This had Butterfly Cannon Blue Tequilay, Hibiscus, Honey, Lemon, and Soda Water. Second I had was the Mister Biscus. This had Gin, Hibiscus, Elderflower, Black Tea, Lemon, Candied Ginger. Both drinks were very refreshing. For entree, I had the Maine Lobster Roll. It had a good amount of lobster with shredded lettuce, and celery. Everything was very fresh. We were excited to spend a night out with friends at the firepit before our wedding. We made a standard firepit reservation via open table, which did not have a minimum. Since there was another option with a minimum, we called to double check and they confirmed that the policy wasn't starting yet. Upon arriving 4 days later, they informed us that there was a new a $550 minimum spend for the fire pit. While they brought us to a regular table instead, we watched as they invited smaller tables to sit by the fire pits for free after dinner. Waitress was very nice but manager ruined the experience. Great views and good vibes on a rooftop in Providence! The wait staff was very friendly and the drinks were very good. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't slammed at all. All of the prices were reasonable. A drink was around 12 dollars and the food wasn't too far off. The food was mid, the best appetizer was between the flatbread and the shrimp. They warned us about the chicken and waffles but I was still disappointed. I would definitely come back but mostly for drinks. We had a lovely experience hosting a reversal dinner with Rooftop at Providence G this past weekend. I had been corresponding with the events team to get everything arranged and they were responsive and helpful. They always got back to me within a day or two and were knowledgeable about the process. I felt confident that everything would be arranged by the time we arrived and it was! The on site staff was lovely - big shout out to Mike and Maddy who were our servers for the event. They were so on top of things and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was fantastic as were the cocktails. We went for family style with tuna and steak and it was very good- especially for being family style. The apps and snacks were delicious as well. The event space is super cute with a nice view of the city. We were able to customize the set up and bring some of our own personal touches which made the whole evening come together. Would definitely recommend for mid-size events! My only complaint is that we underestimated the size of the family style platters and definitely over ordered. It would have been helpful to have some additional guidance in this area based on the staff's previous experience. Thankfully, we were able to donate the leftovers to the local mission. read more

The food was good. I really enjoyed the cheese and flavors in the salad. The honey roasted carrots only came with 8 and were barely roasted at all- they tasted more like steamed! Definitely not worth the $10. The tabbouleh flavor was good but the consistency was too mushy. After 3 drinks the price was decent. The service wasn't great here. When we arrived the bored hotel desk person told us that they had a "big Halloween party" the previous night and thus, wouldn't open today. No phone call, nothing. We got the elote dip for an appetizer, and a pepperoni pizza, two margarita pizzas and pasta verano for our entrees. For drinks, the white tea teapot, frozen espresso martini and strawberry daiquiri. Everything was excellent, but the service was the highlight. Emma was our waitress, and she was not only friendly but went above and beyond. We were celebrating my mom getting her college degree, and she went out of her way to celebrate it with us.
