Hubby saw a post on Facebook for a lobster special at Captain's Resto-Bar so you know that we had to go check it out! It was a slightly weird time because the restaurant had decided to shut down due to noise complaints over the weekend & then had someone try to start a fire on Monday morning. We do not know if those two incidents were related but we were assured that it was business as usual. You need to make a reservation to get the 2 for $27 lobster special (if you don't, then it is market pricing). We were there on the early side which was a good thing because seating outside was just not possible in the rain deluge that evening. Inside, the restaurant only has maybe 25 seats with a tiny bar. The staff greeted us enthusiastically & directed us to a little table by the bar. All the other tables were already blocked for reservations. We opted to start with a half order of clam strips. Hubby is a big fan of fried clam bellies. These were okay, definitely strip with a little chew. The tartar sauce was great. The lobsters were advertised as 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 pounds & that they were. The plate was served with a piece of corn, green beans & a little cup of drawn butter. Everything was great but the green beans were outstanding! So, for the approximate price of purchasing lobsters at the grocery store, you get the full lobster experience, delicious sides, nice people & waterfront ambiance (weather permitting). First the positives: Waitress and hostess were great. Being able to eat outside near the water is nice. The crowd (much older) seemed to be having a great time. The live music was nice. Now to the Negatives: The food was bad and not hot. I was really hoping that a location on the water would have good seafood. They do not (although I did not try the lobster). Visited this place today, two days after it reopened after the much-talked-about sudden closure about a week ago. Anyhoo, arrived close to 2 PM on a Sunday, and the outdoor seating was busy enough, but still had enough seats available that we were able to get a table facing the marina. We decided on a glass of Poseidon (margarita) in mango. I asked for a salt-rimmed glass and did get one. The server informed me that the margarita comes with Casamigos tequila unless I preferred something else. I didn't care to change it, so I agreed. When I received the bill, I noticed I was charged $14 for the margarita and $2 for Casamigos tequila. I didn't appreciate this. This was not how she explained it to me. I would have been content with a well/house/bottom-shelf tequila. For starters, we chose the Calamari. For the main, we got the Krabby Patty Sliders and Shrimp Burgers, but we were told the latter was out, so we settled for Smoke on the Water (Brisket Sandwich served on a pretzel bun). I opted for the side salad vs. the fries, as a side to accompany the sliders, and the serving was generous. The Calamari was crispy on the outside but overcooked. The Krabby Patty sliders were good, while the Brisket was okay. The bun was a bit dry. If they were too busy in the kitchen this day after the 4th of July, having just reopened two days before, the food quality may have just been hustled through. I would give this spot another visit, but for today, this was our experience. I am still giving this place 4 stars because I appreciate its presence in my neighborhood, and like that it is dog-friendly. On days when it's not crazy busy, I may bring my doggies in for the promised bacon treat. read more

Great little place with an awesome waterfront deck. We visited for after dinner drinks last night and enjoyed sitting outside. Service was friendly and we enjoyed listening to Mary Day, who was playing live music out on the deck. We didn't order much food, but we did try the stuffies, which were excellent. I would definitely recommend the frozen mudslide. It was strong, sweet, and amazing, and I'll definitely order it again on our return visit. read more

A hopping little joint on the water! Stopped by Captain Resto Bar for a midweek reprieve from the heat and we were pleasantly surprised. Even with the limited menu due to the scorching temperatures- we all found something to enjoy! We started with the nachos with an unusual twist of shredded beef instead of ground beef- it did not disappoint! A half order was enough for 3! Next we tried the pepperoni pizza with dollops of ricotta and hot honey - it was the perfect combination! We also enjoyed the wine selection. Had a pleasant lunch at Captains. Servers were sweet, but slow service for food. Not their fault as it was an unexpected beautiful fall weekend and the place was packed. I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. It was huge and very good. A friend had a towering smash burger that required utensils because it was so tall. My husband and I ventured here by dinghy last weekend. We love that this restaurant is located at a marina which has transient docking space available. We also enjoyed the live entertainment, delicious food (those green beans... OMG!!!), and tasty drinks. Our bartender balanced the demands of a full house despite it being his first time transitioning from a seasoned bar back to a novice bartender. He even shared that his father was the one to come up with the recipe for the green beans! I would love to see their menu expand to accommodate gluten sensitivities and shellfish allergies, but I think given the fact they've only been opened about a year, they're doing pretty well. If you are a boater in Greenwich Bay, venture on over by sea to relax at this oceanside restaurant. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times and we really enjoyed it. We have a group of people we go out to eat with, so three other couples besides us. We made a reservation early in the week for Friday and when we got there, they sat us at a picnic table. We had to have the waitress wipe it down because it had bird poop all over the table. The table itself wasn't in good condition either, when a friend of mine went to sit down some of the screws had rusted out, and that end drop down so he had to move to the other side of the picnic table. We were told that they had a huge party of 40 people coming, but the bottom line is if you're going to seat people at picnic tables make sure they're in good working order. I mean the table was a little disgusting at least put some kind of tablecloth on it or something. The waitress was doing a great job, trying to make it a more pleasant experience, but it was kind of embarrassing to take my friends there and have that kind of situation. They have a creamy white chowder with added bacon and actually has clams in it up like other places not too far away.... The entire food menu has improved this year. The last few weeks we've popped over to Captain's Resto-Bar on the boat a few times and each time was a good experience. The docking was easy and they had plenty of slips. Usually when you pull up to a place on the water - everyone is gawking and makes you feel like you're taking someone else's slip or doing something wrong - not here! Waitstaff is great - our server Ryan made great suggestions and was very transparent with the longer than normal kitchen turnaround times. The food was good and came out hot - they must have just been slammed. The cocktail menu was fun and had a lot of colorful Instagram-worthy drinks in mini fishbowl which was cool. Three times we have gone here. Once last year. Food and service was meh. The place used to be an Irish pub called Cora's and we really liked it. Tried again two months ago on a Saturday night about 4 PM. Too busy one and a half hour wait. Asked if making a reservation would have helped. Told we only do first come seating. Ahead to this past Saturday. I researched busy times on Google. Found that two and three PM are slow times. We got there about 3 30 and was told we needed reservations otherwise it would be a 3 hour wait. No where on the website or the Facebook page is there ANY mention of reservations suggested or required. I guess I am not classy enough for this place. Which is too bad because we used to love the old place. My wife particularly loved sitting on the deck by the water in the sun having a meal. read more

Make a reservation! Went there on my anniversary expecting a nice view and meal with a couple of drinks but experienced the exact opposite. Staff told me I could stand over where the band was going to play. That lasted 10 minutes until the band arrived, then was told I could stand in one of the isles Only to be told five minutes later that I couldn't stand there and I could stand out on the lawn. We visited this very cute and clean restaurant with friends while on a sailing trip. This is a great place to go if you are looking for an awesome and friendly staff, We chatted with the owners, manager and a couple of bartenders stopped by our table to see how the food and drinks were. Talking about the drinks, I HIGHLY recommend the espresso martini ( I like mine dark), they are the best by far! We tried the clam and kale soup and both were perfect. disco night 8/29/24 very disappointing.reservations only but never stated on website ot flyer.arrived at 5:30 couldn't sit at bar ,picnic tables,grass or deck tables.there was no service on even if you sat at picnic tables.food service was already 40mins behind.and a 4 hour waiting list for an open to public event.manager and owner very unaccomodating and honestly he was an a##. obviously tables reserved for a 4hr timeframe.what a great way of running a business.what a great way of not honoring your advertisement error.totally understand capacity but if a party was willing to stand in grass area and get their own drinks,we should have been able to enjoy this disco event with no issues.poor planning even with an event planner. read more
