After attending a meeting nearby we dropped into the East End after about 8:15 pm. The place was pretty full of people in both the bar area and the dining room. We ordered drinks before the meal. I had a Vermont Red Ale for the first time which was very good and worth remembering. At this time they were serving'cocktails for a cause' in support of the Alzheimer's Association, which my other half decided to have. The drink, Fuchsia Butterflies ($15), was made solarium gin, house-made lemoncello, with a Gran Classico & Violet Rinse. It was quite excellent. I had a sip to try (I am usually not one for cocktails) and enjoyed the taste. Perhaps I will try cocktails in the future. For food we shared curry moules frites, well done, just how I like them, and salt and vinegar Wings - tasty but too salty which detracted from the dish. We ended with a good chocolate mint creme brûlée. The check came to $80 to which we added a decent tip for our friendly server, Triston. We have always enjoyed the vibe and cozy environment of this place and are sure to return. read more

Delicious!! I've been wanting to try The East End for a while now - I'm so glad I was finally able to go! The cocktail list alone was super impressive. Such a wide variety and the drinks were delicious! The food was also great. The cheese board was much larger than I thought it would be. The fritters were also delicious - perfectly crispy. We also had the French onion burger which was rich and decadent. The Cubano was also a perfectly balanced bite. The service was also great. Always attentive. Nothing felt slow or rushed. Always made sure water and drinks were full. It's a little dark inside and was a little loud the night we were there, but nothing out of the ordinary. We will be back soon! read more

Popped into this place on a work trip tucked away on a corner in what appears to be a cute college neighborhood just off of DT Providence. It gives off speakeasy vibes, loved the dark lighting and mood inside. I popped in for HH oysters, and ordered a few speciality cocktails. '69 el Camino was fabulous and perhaps one of the best craft cocktails I've ever had. Also tried the apple sazerac, it was strong, spirit heavy, and fine just probably not my style. Prices range from $12-$16, pretty standard for a solid craft cocktail. I tried some HH oysters and they were really good. After staring at the menu too long, I had to try the salt/vinegar wings and was highly impressed. I love wings, normally I'm a total sauce guru, and stay away from dry rubs, but this was exceptional. Was complimented with a chive sour cream sauce, but I didn't need it. Simply loved the flavor of the wings. Bartender/service was great, sounds like they also have a nice burger deal during the HH, I'd love to come back and try more cocktails as they had a pretty extensive menu and unique food offerings. read more

They don't cater to neighborhood locals. We are returning patrons. Last night we unwillingly stepped into an unexpected barrage of audacious rudeness and hostility. While having a private conversation about topical news, the bartender overhears us, stops us and insists we "change the subject" eyes rolling because he is "news fatigued." No apologies for ruining our good time and meal. No apology for interrupting us out of nowhere. No apology for not minding his business. No apology for telling two returning, well tipping and nice locals what they can't/can talk about. To make matters worse, he wasn't offended by the content of our conversation. It simply "annoyed" him! The manager was equally unprofessional, dismissive and rude. No surprise there. The owner should be ashamed of the repulsive conduct of his staff. When we defended ourselves, they had the nerve to throw us out for using adult language. SO They can say and do what they want behind the bar, and sober to boot & expect us to turn the other cheek and absorb their emotional abuse and negative energy. Well, we told you we were never going to return before you unceremoniously threw us out. Too bad you threw us out before we could pay the bill for our dinner and drinks! We are so happy you showed us your true nasty, ungrateful & unprofessional character. The East End was chosen by my date for our first meetup. It's located on a corner that's easy to find, though the dark exterior made me hesitate for a moment about whether it was open. Once inside, I was welcomed by a lively crowd of mostly young and middle-aged students and professionals. The lighting was spot-on. warm, cozy, and perfect for a relaxed Thursday night vibe. Even though it was almost full, we quickly found a table for two. I ordered the crunchy wrap and my date got a salad. We were both impressed by how good the food was and how fast the kitchen handled orders despite the busy night. I also ordered a beer from their menu. It was served perfectly cold, but I felt the beer selection could be a bit stronger. Even if not on tap, having more unique or local options would appeal to customers who enjoy trying something different. What I liked most here was the atmosphere; the sounds of people chatting, glasses clinking, and soft background music created a friendly, neighborhood bar feel that's hard to beat. Since I just moved to Providence, I think I'll be coming back to this spot often. read more

Slow clap... The East End is much more than meets the eye from the street. Everything I put in my mouth had me whispering sweet nothings while my buddy was just trying to get a bite to eat. Seriously though, everything about the food was top notch. I got to try the Bone Marrow, the Aji Chicken Sandwich, and the Duck toast. Tldr: Delicious flavor packed food, extremely high quality food and drinks. Good service, kind wait staff, deliver on all the essentials. Food very, very slow to arrive during busy time. Order Duck Toast. Our server was kind enough to honestly answer all of our questions. I was between the Seared Duck entrée or the combo of Bone Marrow appetizer and Aji Chicken Sandwich. Why was I between those two options? Because the seared Duck was $32, that's why. The Bone Marrow was $16 and same with the sandwich. So, not exactly a cheap night out. The Aji Chicken Sandwich was delicious. The polenta crust was super crisp and the Aji aioli was nice and creamy but the pickled carrots and cauliflower stepped right in to take the richness. Honestly, even the bread was fantastic, fluffy sweet hawiaan bread, wonderfully crisped was perfect to make little bits of each thing on the plate. And to that point, the ratio of everything in this dish was perfect. Worth the $16 for sure, a lot of care put into this dish. The bone marrow: while I enjoyed every single thing about this dish, I hardly had any marrow. The bits I did have were amazing. The mustard and the lime fennel was to die for. I kid you not, I took a bite of all of these slapped onto the toasted bread they give you and I threw my head back harder than someone that just got rear-ended at a red light. But dangit, I wish that cow had more marrow. Felt a little salty for the $16 price tag on this one. Now, I didn't order the duck toast, that was my friend. Our server did mention "the Duck toast will never leave the menu, there would be uproar.." - paraphrasing.. Holy crap. She was right. Whatever was on there was pure magic. It was rich and creamy, amazing depth of flavor and again, from the first bite to the last absolutely delicious. Now, one thing I'm going to overlook purely because I loved the food so much I was still taking about it this morning, is the amount of time it took to get the food! We sat down a little before 6:30pm and didn't get out food until after 7:20pm. Don't come here in a rush. They must have been chasing the chicken down and driving to the farm to get the marrow bone.. Food was so slow to come out. Our server was around enough and kept us with water, but damn, least they could do is give you some bread if food is going to take almost an hour. Normally, I'd knock a star off for something like this but this place is definitely not the type of place to get a quick bite (which I thought it was going in), it's a "enjoy the dark cool ambiance, sit at the fancy bar, and get a $14-$16 drink, while exploring the hundred single malt scotch and bourbons on our menu" type place. Will absolutely be back. Now that I know what to expect, I'll likely be planning a date night as this is a great spot for that. read more

I've been here now for both drinks and dinner on separate occasions. The 1/2 price burger (or bogo, I can't remember) is such a great deal for a casual date night! Went here for drinks on Friday. Bar was lively, service was great! I got an aviation cocktail and it was well balanced. If you like whiskey/bourbon/scotch, this is the place for you. Came to The East End after a concert and boy am I glad that we did! Place looks unassuming from the outside but it's an absolute gem. Walked in, very dimly lit and soothing and sat at one of their comfortable high top booths near the bar. Greeted by the server and given the late night menus. We started out sharing some poutine. Topped with mushroom gravy and cheese curds it was perfect, good size portion as well. We then moved onto burgers which could not be priced any better. I got the basic East End which had secret sauce, dill pickles and American cheese while my wife got the matador which had some kind of kick to it. The matador has guava BBQ sauce, bacon and crispy onion strings. The burger was cooked perfectly and is the best late night burger I've ever had. I couldn't love this place anymore, great food and amazing vibes, can't wait to return! read more

We walked in looking for an appetizer and I was SO HAPPY they had charcuterie. And it was good charcuterie too. We're also bourbon drinkers and they have a fantastic selection. Came with a group of friends and a reservation ahead of time to make sure we go seats~ staff had seats and I was seated promptly when I arrived, and offered the menu~ I ordered a serenity chaos which was good~ my friends ordered cherry blossom drinks, and they were more sweet~ fries was a must have for the table, but they didn't come with the house made ketchup I was looking forward too. I was too anxious to ask. The bok choy was great! The pesto pasta was also a delight! I'd definitely order the bok choy and pasta again because they were the best dish! The cheese board was ok. Nothing too different. I liked the condiments added to the board that I decided to use on the bread. I honestly can seem to remember what the bread was, and upon tasting, it was normal. I don't know if this was supposed to be to taste like something special, but I tasted a normal bread piece . Scallops were solid, but not as spectacular as the bok choy and pasta. I'm glad I checked out more of the menu this time around! The vibe spoke spooky, dark, moody vibes, with dim lighting and cozy seats. It's definitely a place you go for the drinks~ I'm so glad I tried the food. As for the price, it was on the high end, so I'd come back for another night out with friends. Love the atmosphere here. Dark, sophisticated, and relaxing. But that's not what drew me here - it was their wall of whiskey! Being a big bourbon fan I was happy to find a huge variety of bottles. Everything from daily sippers to top shelf. Some prices were crazy but most were reasonable. They also offer a flight so you don't have to buy 2oz pours - which means you can try more without paying the price. Service was great - our bar tender was very helpful and accommodating. The food was also great and they even offer happy hour specials as well. We aren't typically out this way but if I ever am again I'll be sure to stop in for some more pours!! read more

I heard great things about The East End so I finally got a chance to try it for lunch, and I can say I was not disappointed. I started off with half off oysters which were only 3 dollars each and had the el Diablito drink which was delicious as well. I ordered the birria grilled cheese which was delicious it didn't really taste like birria but still was great. I definitely would come back here maybe for dinner cause I would like to see how it is in the nighttime, since I really like the ambience of the place. I always like The East End - but it's a spot I don't go to often. I should work on that - especially in the summer because the patio is super cute. We had a res Friday night - couldn't book online but when we called they were able to hold a spot. They said possibly at a high top but we got lucky and had a regular table (my sister is short and high tops aren't her fav cause her legs hang too much). The restaurant has a great vibe and the dimmed lights make it feel cozy and intimate - BUT I'm old and had to use my flashlight repeatedly to read the menu. It was already dim when we got there and then they dimmed it even more once we had been sitting for a bit. Our waiter was a gem - loved his flaming shirt and his wine suggestion. Normally I love their cocktails but I've got new meds and thought wine was a better option. My sister loved her wine and said if it wasn't so dark she would have written it down (I think four glasses in she forgot about flashlights) We had the tempura cauliflower to share - and it had great flavor and a nice little kick. I wish it were a tad bit crispier though. My meal was the moules frites. The fries were great, house ketchup had a nice smokiness to it. I personally like my moules frites with a creamier sauce. There were plenty of mussels though - I sadly didn't finish them all. I DID make sure to get all the bits of chorizo out of it. We shared a s'mores dessert - which was delicioussss but I wish it were in a different vessel. The Graham on top was too contained to really make sure you would get some with each bite. Also nice bathrooms. Could use easier locks. read more

What a cool place, just the ambiance and vibe I had been seeking! We went late, after 11 and were lucky the kitchen was open so late! They even had a late night menu with specials. We shared the poutine and both picked a burger. The poutine was really good!! The curds were a little mush and hard to find but the fries and the gravy were so tasty. We both loved our burgers! They were sort of like smash burgers with crispy edges that I loved. My husband got the more basic burger and I got one called the matador which was a little spicy and had a guava bbq sauce, yum! Our sever was great! I can't wait to come back. It reminded me of a NYC whisky bar, and was very unassuming from the outside. Trust me you'll love it. We didn't get drinks because it was so late at night but I could tell the bartenders knew what they were doing and the drink menu was great! Actually my husband got a draft beer from Proclamation Brewery. which he loved. I appreciate the comfortable seating both at the bar and at all the tables, a back and a foot rest! So we came here because my husband loves bourbon. Honestly, I was hesitant because if that's their specialty will they have good food? I started off with their Korean style green beans and that was so tasty and still had a nice snap to them. We also ordered surillos. Not the typical Puerto Rican style but it was still very good. As my main dish I ordered the crunch wrap. WOW! I loved it!! Even my husband liked it and he doesn't particularly like black bean burgers. Went into the East End not that long ago and ended up sitting outside. Their little back patio is so private and so cute, would 100% grab drinks back there again. The food wasn't my favorite, and honestly wasn't anything to write home about, but it could've just been an off day. The service and interior and back patio were all so fabulous. I would definitely come by and try it again. The drinks were good so I would probably come back and do drinks and an appetizer next time and kind of explore the menu a little bit more. One of my favorite places in Providence. Not just a killer whisky list, but also really delightful and creative cocktails. It's hard to choose which to go with! A lot of places with great drinks have mediocre food, or vice versa, but not East End. The food is genuinely delicious, even more so the last couple of years after they brought in a chef from Duckfat up in Portland. Highly recommend. I came here for the Rhode Island Food Fights burger month, and I was pretty impressed with the food. I know this place has a reputation for cocktails, but based on my experience, it's a great dinner as well. I got the French Onion Burger with a side salad and it was a thinner patty, but the cheese and onions on the burger were so creamy and sweet that it was overall an excellent item. The side salad was also nicely dressed and very tasty. My boyfriend and I also shared the hummus and pita bread. The bread was oily in the best possible way, and the additions to the hummus were excellent. It's also presented very beautifully. To drink, I tried the Phony Mescal Negroni. It seems to be something out of a bottle, so I guess you could probably buy it and have it at home, but I'm glad I tried it. They had a whole selection of mocktails, including a make your own. The ambiance is cozy, with the low lighting and dark wood. We sat at the bar, which has hooks for bags and jackets underneath. Sitting at the bar was super comfortable due to the sturdy leather bar chairs. read more

Great spot to grab dinner and a drink in Fox Point. They have an endless whiskey selection, along with pretty much any other drink you could ask for. You definitely won't leave disappointed if you're just coming in for drinks. The food won't let you down either, a good selection of bar food with a few fancier plates. Their brussels app was one of the best I've had, and I enjoyed their take on a crunchwrap. The atmosphere is pretty dim and very much feels like a pub, it's cool to see the plethora of whiskey bottles stacked on the shelves behind the bar. I asked if there was any seating and the host said a bar seat would be best but he didn't have any or any tables but "he was sure something would open up soon". He then gave me a menu to look at. I'll try and keep this nice and brief. We enjoyed this spot upon spending our lastnight in Providence. We wound up here after being directed by a local (usually a great sign). Glad we listened. Wife and I start with the Sorullos (Puerto Rican dish) I'll take her word for how great they were since she is Puerto Rican herself and she said were perfect! We decide to go for our own dishes which consisted of the Chicken Lollipops and the Pesto Pistachio Tortenilli. Those two items alone captured us.
