Tavern in the Square was an amazing place to eat. As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and energetic. The restaurant has a modern but cozy style, with lots of seating and a lively vibe that makes it perfect for hanging out with friends or going out with family. It felt comfortable but still exciting at the same time. The food was definitely the highlight. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and you can tell they care about quality. The portions were generous, and the presentation looked just as good as it tasted. There were so many options on the menu, so it would be easy for anyone to find something they like. The service was also great. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick without making us feel rushed. They checked in at the right times and made sure everything was correct. It made the whole experience even better because we felt taken care of. Overall, Tavern in the Square is a restaurant I would absolutely recommend. Date night at Tavern in the Square was a nice meal, good service, in a modern industrial atmosphere. It was a bit noisy from the hard surfaces bouncing sounds. The dining area has honeycomb, black and white tile floor, the reclaimed wood slats on the benches and tables and big metal bowl lights all made for vibe cool. The bar is Big & oval bar must seat 20 people, It's a good spot too. Our libations were very tasty, I enjoyed one of the best Aperol spritz ($12) I have tasted and my date had the old-fashioned banana foster $14. We were both very happy with these choices. For a meal we ordered bowls, $25 each. I had the ahi Tuna bowl and she had the salmon bowl. They really cut back on the fish in these bowls... shrink- flation? Added lots of rice and I had to ask for more kimchi and carrots just to see more vegetables, but in general, it was fine. The Salmon bowl on the other hand had so much broccoli that it was overpowering the entire balance of the dish. I'll pick differently next time. The good service and the convenience of the tavern in Garden City will bring me back. read more

Food/Drinks: One of my favorite places to go eat. They have so many items on the menu that I've tried that have been top-tier. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of this item, but the buffalo mac & cheese is probably the best item on their menu, so good that I eat it before I can take a picture of it, which is why I can't insert one in my review lol. Not only that but the cornflake tenders are literally sooo good, and they have so many good different sauces to try them with, and they're all so tasty! I also love their loaded nachos! They recently opened up brunch, and when I tell you the options are pretty amazing, they serve a lot. Truly filling! Location: This location is within a plaza, so they don't offer valet, but they have easy access to parking. This place is super casual and a perfect place to go on a date or with family or even by yourself and sit at the bar, but it's nice and more of a casual feel. Service: The service has always been great! The servers are always helpful and checking in on us, and I have never had any issues with any of my experiences here, and I've come here multiple times. This has a lot of options and many seats. I'd recommend a reservation if possible but the wait isn't usually too bad if you walk in. There's lots of TVs with sports on and it's quite loud. When they first opened the food was really good, but it's gone downhill some since then. Last time we went the silverware was dirty and the food was just okay. We had to ask a second time for some of our drinks. The chicken sandwich lacked flavor. All of the sauce seemed to be absorbed into the bun and a bit soggy rather than flavorful. We may go here again as an easy dinner with the kids, but it definitely won't be top of list. read more

1st time patron .... For an appetizer we had the crispy Brussel sprouts ... 10 out of 10!! I ordered the sweet and spicy Thai chicken salad. It was really good minus the pita chips (if that's what they were). My boyfriend enjoyed the quesadillas, but not so much the wings. The beer on top could have been colder... was ok! I ordered the caramel espresso martini. I took one sip and had to send it back, it was awful. The ambience is nice , the Christmas tree was a nice touch. I'll never understand the low ratings for this place because every time we go it's phenomenal. From the hostess to the service and of course the food! Went on. Saturday for lunch and ordered the Brunch Bowl from their menu. I can't say enough about the quality and taste of this bowl. Our waitress was stellar. Recently I had their steak and avocado salad. I've had this dish here for a while now...and a few changes have occurred. They used to give you half of an avocado with the salad, this time, the slices of avocado were tiny. The steak was a bit tough but nicely charred on the outside. The veggies, beans and lettuce were all fresh. My server was very smiley and sweet. One thing that I would like for the restaurant to change is the flow of water in the restroom sinks. The water comes as a tiny weak spray and it takes a long time to get hands properly washed...I am all for environmental choices, but the water flow is just below standard. I have been to Tavern in the Square multiple times and even for their brunch. It's a place where I feel comfortable going by myself and sitting at the bar to have a meal. Last night when I was there, there were other women who also were sitting at the bar having a meal by themselves. The food is good. It's solid. I wish they rotated more items on their menu and played off seasonal flavors. Sometimes I find myself bored with the offerings and I'm looking for bar food that has a little different spin. The staff there are always pleasant and they are working hard to keep everything moving. I never have waited too long for my food, even when it is really busy there. They also have a great rewards program and they do a lot of fun promotions like guessing the winner of the Sunday football game and getting a $10 reward. Overall, Tavern in the Square in Cranston is a great place to grab a bite of bar food and have a drink with friends! I would definitely recommend and keep going back! read more

This is our preferred TitS location. Staff are usually very friendly and professional checking in often, being sure drinks are refilled and everything is going well. The dining area, bar and restrooms are kept clean and there is plenty of parking in the area. The menu changes pretty often which is interesting if you like to try new things and sad if you have a favorite that gets dropped. Still, the food is always fresh and there are usually lots of flavors going on. Presentation is nice too. Lots of TV's around the bar make it a good game day choice. read more

I really enjoyed Tavern in the Square! I was nervous getting the quinoa bowl to go, and same with the bang bang broccoli, but both were still delicious! The broccoli would have bee crispier for dine-in, but regardless, I liked it, it was crispy still, and while I had asked for sauce on side, it was still great, and the sauce wasn't too overpowering. I got quinoa bowl with Salmon, and I was nervous paying $30 for a salmon bowl, but even after bringing it home, that salmon was cooked PERFECTLY. Salmon wasn't overdone, it was nicely seasoned, not burnt, and really enjoyable on the bowl. For some reason the bowl was greasy at the bottom? Not sure why, maybe the veggies, but either way, it was very filling and hearty! I really liked the whipped feta and the pickled onions to offset the broccoli I ate! Add some kind service, ease of online ordering, and a really great ambiance with plenty of open space, and you've got yourself a great night! It was a seasonable evening and having never been here before, I was impressed to see that the corner glassed walls were folded back for some al fresco dining. I ordered the Bayou Chicken Pasta which was a filling, comforting, and tasty meal for early Fall. Our group shared the Nachos starter, which, unfortunately were nothing to write home about. Everyone else's meals looked tasty and included a Black and Bleu Burger, Steak & Avocado Salad, and a Steak and Cheese Crunch Wrap. As someone who has recently had to change their diet, I was happy for the several non-alcoholic beer options available on their menu. Overall, an enjoyable meal, though a bit more expensive than I would have expected for pub-style entrees. This place is so good! It's in the heart of shopping in Cranston. They have multiple entrances when the weather is light, which brings in a ton of natural light. They provide good veggie friendly options and allow you to substitute items. The staff is very friendly, and attentive. I've come here before but not too frequent. However, today Ryan the bartender remembered my weird order (I am a vegetarian), from more than 6 months ago. That's impressive. They have large tvs for multiple options to view, but it's mostly sports. It can get a little loud, but it adds to the ambiance. The drinks are good and have some good selections. This is a typical tavern/sport bar feel. We stopped for dinner while shopping. We got the Garden Bahn Mi Sandwich and the Buffalo Macaroni and cheeses. Serving sizes were large. They gave me enough broccoli for 3 people. We brought home leftovers. The Bahn Mi, which should be a pretty flavorful sandwich - was pretty bland. The waitress was not versed on their menu and couldn't tell me what type of bread it came on. I asked for a box for my left overs, as I try to portion my food. I typically visit the wrentham location but received an email for my birthday and took advantage. Nachos are huge. I mean 2 people barely put a dent in these. I paired them with a blackberry sour beer. My only complaint was the tiny chicken pieces. I wish it was more like pulled chicken. There were two dogs at a table INSIDE today and they definitely were not service dogs. The young kid ended up puking and we got to watch the dogs eat it from our table. I cannot believe the manager allowed these people to sit down inside with two dogs...nevermind the audacity of the couple to feel 100% okay bringing two dogs in with their young kid.
