    Fish sandwich

I stopped here with my friend Meg M. She is doing the best burger of RI. I would say that they might have the best burger, her burger looked incredible! I had the fish sandwich and it was delicious. It was a great portion size and the price was very reasonable. The fries were also delicious. We had tasty drinks and great service. This is my first time visiting high motor and they did a really great job renovating the bar! I am excited to come back! They had also had gluten free and vegan options (beyond burger and falafel).

Wow! This spot was so fun! I went for best burger with a friend. Drinks were so good and cheap. Portions were SOOOOOO big! Food was amazing ing. Every bar tender, server, runner was wonderful. The place was pretty packed for a rainy Saturday and we lived chatting with customers and staff. What a great little discovery!

I haven't stepped into this building in 18 years. Back then it was Jack's, an Irish dive bar. Today is was much improved with new owners, a new name and a new look. My Rhode Island Food Fights Lord of the Wings passport is what brought me here today. But when I pulled up to the building, I realized I knew exactly where I was and felt the familiar tingle of nostalgia. A private lot sits behind the building (use the driveway to the right of the building and you can enter through the back door or the front door. I chose the front door, so I can get a picture of it. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a huge bar with ample seating in a giant square. There is a dining room in the back, where you would enter if you use the back entrance. I managed to find a seat at the bar, which was pretty packed given that it was a playoff football game day. The bartender was super friendly, and pretty soon I had placed my order for my wings, cocktail and side salad. Before long, someone from the kitchen came out with my food. Everything looked fresh, made from scratch, and appetizing. The wings glistened with sauce, the salad was topped with clearly homemade croutons and shredded vegetables. The wings were crispy and delicious. The hot honey sauce I chose was not spicy at all, but rather gave a nice savory honey taste to the wings. The house lemon vinaigrette was a great accompaniment with the side salad, it was bright and tangy. I had two cocktails. First a cosmo which was everything you are looking for in this classic cocktail, then I had their house daiquiri with passion fruit, and it was absolutely divine. Both of them reasonably priced at $10 a piece. After my almost 20-year hiatus from returning to this spot, I'm glad to see that the owners are embracing the place they have and are providing great service, great ambiance, and great food. Highly recommend you check it out if you're in the area!

    High Motor Chicago Dog

We checked out High Motor Bar & Grille on the RI Food Fights #BestWeinerRI tour. A couple of practical notes for newcomers like us: it's easy to miss when driving by if you're not paying attention. There are stairs at both the front & back entrances (parking is in the back), so keep that in mind. The ambiance? Perfectly laid back. It's one of those spots where you can either dive into an enriching conversation with your friends or toss out expert-level commentary to your bar buddy while your favorite team is on. Classic dive-bar energy in the best possible way: fast drinks, cool servers, zero attitude & all the charm. I tried the Chicago dog, while not exactly true Chicago-style, was still really tasty. As a Chicagoan, I'm exceptionally picky about the Chicago dawg. The frank must be all-beef, the bun must be poppy seed & the ingredients must be piled onto the bun in the order specified. Most everyone else would have loved it! When you go to a Chicago bar in Rhode Island & they have Malört, you make hubby do a shot. Thankfully, he is a good sport & he is only moderately pissed at me but he will definitely NEVER EVER do THAT again!!!!! "It mostly tastes like bitterness, failure & loneliness, with subtle hints of despair & misery with a lingering aftertaste of sweaty feet. On the upside, no matter how shitty your life is, after you do a shot, you'll realize life could be a lot worse." ~ Reddit Bonus trivia: High Motor is associated with Lucky Enough in Providence. For a first-time visit, we were impressed. This is absolutely the place to be when you just want to be someplace - great food, cold drinks, fun people & a Malört experience we'll be laughing about for years!

Cute spot. Lots of tv's for the games, located near the new stadium. Food was good and came out quick. The burger was made the way we wanted, but was also crispy on the edges. Ranch seemed freshly made, and was super tasty. The wings were crispy, but wasn't a fan of the salt and vinegar dry rub. The calamari had an interesting sauce or flavor, it also comes with olives and tomatoes. The wings were half priced on Mondays though! And they have other specials as well. We will be back Can easily be missed if you aren't paying attention, and there are stairs to get in, so keep that in mind. Parking is in the back. There are stairs in the front and the back for entry.

Love this place. Perfect place to watch a game. Perfect place to stop in the way home for a drink. (It's a sports bar but the old fashion will rival any you've had at any upscale restaurant.) But the gem of this place are the people behind the bar. You'll become family on your first visit. This place has a history for a revolving door or ownership- but this place is here to stay

    Cajun Chicken

Dinner out at a local watering hole. You had better want to watch the Red Sox game because there is NO chance of having a conversation with someone. They are definitely proud of their sound system. Having DINNER Whalers Rise APA very good- but missing the great selection of beers they had when it was Craft Burgers and Beer Fried mozzerella fresh and very tasty- turned out to be the best part of the meal Cajun Chicken- the chicken itself had fantastic flavor. But it was limited in serving size compared to the GIANT amount of pasta it was served with- in a bowl. The cream sauce not only was lacking in flavor but it was also thin and runny and at pooled at the bottom of the bowl of WAY too much pasta. And it is WAY too loud in here !!!!!! My girlfriend left with a headache and a longing for the peaceful sound of a jackhammer on concrete... My only saving grace is that I'm mostly deaf in one ear. Red Sox game is on the FIFTEEN tv's JUST in the bar area which is NOT big enough for 15 big screen Tvs... they could take down at least 1/2 of them and you'd still be able to see the game no matter where you sit. I counted four more TVs in the dining area as well. That's a total of 19 large screen television sets in a very small amount of space. Way more than is necessary. and it sounds like every single one of them is on full blast .... turns out they have a really powerful sound system - turned up full blast which is totally unnecessary for a baseball game - its so loud you cant even understand what is being said. Service here is fantastic- waitstaff is AWESOME - third visit here and every time we've had amazing service! Food is good - not fantastic but good- limited selections- typical appetizers and burgers. They should just stop there and not try to be something they are not... which is a sports only bar- NOT a restaurant - Atmosphere is only good if you enjoy shouting at your waitstaff, repeatedly saying " im sorry i cant hear you" and using sign language to talk to your dining partner - and if you only come to watch sports on tv. I spent my time scrolling on my phone because talking without shouting is impossible NOT family friendly NOT a good date night place NOT a good girls night out NOT a place to get a delicious meal. Best i can call the food is "good" and - (it will make a turd). Oh and parking is hideous . Not enough on site parking - we got the last spot. So wear your walking shoes- you may have to street park aways away if you want to eat here Overall I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Due to the obnoxiously loud atmosphere and lack of parking and average food. But the waitstaff is OUTSTANDING which is what kept it from a 2 out of 5 rating. I don't see this place lasting unless they tone down the sports part and get a better menu.

    Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich

High Motor Bar & Grille was another stop as part of the 2026 RI Food Fights Burger Blowout. This used to be the old Craft Burgers & Bar which I've been to on many occasions. It is near Centreville Bank Stadium (RIFC) and has some parking in the back. It was full and lively when I arrived but the bartenders were very attentive and I was able to put in my order within minutes of sitting down. It's a typical bar setting but there was plenty of space, although it did fill up pretty quickly. Their offering was the Rhody-O burger, which was delicious. I also ordered the chocolate chip ice cream sandwich to end the night. I had a great time here, everyone was great and having a blast. I'll definitely be back!

The best bar food and spot to hang for a game or before RIFC games. The staff are so friendly and attentive and this bar food beats all other places in providence/pawtucket.

    Wings! They were great!

A-falafel is A-mazing! I love the vegetarian options! Lindsay is definitely one of our favorite bartenders, but every one is great! Bring back the Portobello mushroom option for burgers! All the TVs are great from all the sports happening now! Never to many TVs. The lighting and sound is all accurate. This is definitely a fan favorite for the neighborhood!

Currently I think of Pawtucket as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV and Kafe Lila and Machines With Magnets are," but if I spend enough time at KL and MWM, my view will undoubtedly become more nuanced. Machines With Magnets is a recording studio, art gallery, and performance space that has fast become my favorite music venue and possibly one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. The inside is beautiful, with two large rooms decked out in cool white paint and beautiful hardwood flooring (one floor is stenciled with an absolutely stunning pattern). Art of varied quality adorns the walls. I have now had the pleasure of attending two shows here--an electronic music performance and Quintron + Miss Pussycat--and I enjoyed them both. Watching bands perform with art as a backdrop is a pleasure. The sound is good and the venue is run fairly efficiently. At the latter show, they quickly cycled through four bands by alternating the rooms in which each band performed. Very smart. The crowds are fun and interesting. Drinks, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and even pizza are sold for reasonable prices. During my first visit, a friend turned to me and said, "I wish I lived here." "I wish I could DJ here," I replied. Until either of these things happens, I'll be stopping in periodically for more music and art. You should, too.

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture.
