Went here with my parents for the first time after only hearing great things. The entrance is on the side of the building leading to the basement. Upon entrance is a doorman who is so friendly and accommodating! He found us an open table and checked on us throughout the night. The place was packed and they only had maybe 5 or 6 employees so the service was a little slow but understandable. I think the longest wait was about 20 minutes when we were waiting to get our initial drink order taken, but everything after that was fairly quick. For drinks I got a thin mint martini because they were out of the chocolate reuge martini I wanted. It was so yummy and came with 3 thin mint cookies. My mom got a pistachio martini and the Jefferson Tea. Both were pretty good but I wouldn't order again. My dad got Dead Mans Redemption which is good if you like bourbon. It comes with a wood topper and they light it on fire, let smoke fill in the drink, and then take the wood off. The drink then has notes of smoked wood in it which is cool. For food we got the crispy spring rolls and pepperoni flatbread. Both were so good!!!! It was absolutely worth the wait!!! I could eat the whole flatbread myself it was that good and I can't wait to go back and get another one. The crowd is definitely much older, not a lot of younger people around. It's a good date night for married couples. Overall it was a nice place and I would come back. read more

i was so very lucky to have had the pleasure of getting to try 9(!!!) courses at the oh so stunning Jefferson Co. this past Sunday night! i have been a big fan of their first location, the Jefferson Speakeasy, for years because Alex (the owner) and his staff are truly unmatched. every conversation, every bite, every sip is genuine, purposeful and magical they have hospitality down to a science, the art of food and drink mastered, and the love for their RI community is truly one of a kind. who else invites a large group to a 3-4 course dinner, only to serve 9 well thought out dishes, served with craft cocktails, delicious sparkling rose, and smooth red wine so each sip and bite is unique and memorable. not to mention service was organized, systematic and seamless. guests felt at home--as all staff is beyond personable (per usual ) and all dietary restrictions were taken care of meticulously so that everyone's experience was special. i have honestly never seen anything like it in my life i don't stay out late on a Sunday night, especially in a state i don't even live in, so that is saying a lot about me attending this special tasting. my amazing server, Emery, knew i was getting antsy about it being way past my bedtime, and she packed our desserts to go, which was so appreciated as missing the banana foster was not remotely an option in my mind I look forward to many more wonderful experiences at this new location for many years to come. read more

Love the atmosphere here. The decor is perfect for a basement speakeasy, and the service is top notch. There is plenty of seating at the large O shaped bar, and the table seating is really nice as well. I have not tried the food, but there are several small bites included on the menu. Of course, the stars of the show are the cocktails, and we have never had a bad one here! On last night's visit, I had a deleicious berry cocktail, my friend had a "Dead Man's Redemption (basically a Manhattan), and my other friend had the "Treasure Island", which included rum and pineapple. This review should have been written in December. I met at sister and her new boyfriend here a few days before Christmas. Pulled into the parking lot and walked around the entire building before I realized where the entrance was. Went down the steps and was greeted by Swan! He led me to my sister at the bar. Dark room with a great vibe! Had a couple of espresso martinis, which were delicious, then headed to the bathroom. In true speakeasy form, finding the bathroom was a little bit of a challenge which added to the feel of the place. Highly recommend!!! read more

This seemed like an interesting and unique place to host an event. However, they don't seem to care very much about your business. They do not answer their phone, they do not answer their email, they do not answer their contact form, nor do they answer DMs. I wanted to host an event for my husband's birthday because they are unreachable, it just all seems shady. But I guess it's for the best that I couldn't get through, now that I just learned about a friend's poor experience with this establishment and the owner. They saved me from wasting my money, so at least their lack of professionalism was a good thing in my case. read more

We had a reservation for 5 and arrived early. They seated us just fine with the host being almost obsequious in how he described the place and menu. My son was with me who was under 21. We sat, placed drink orders and was then asked to leave since one of our group was under 21. There are NO signs saying the establishment was 21+. There was no warning or explanation from the host that sat us. Just sorry, even though you made reservations and we never told you this rule till you wasted your time and effort, you gotta go. I'm LIVID. If that's the policy, groovy. But warning folks beforehand, he'll, or even at the reception desk SOMEHOW, is the least you can do as a company. Your treatment of me, my family, and my friends was absurd and in such poor taste and execution I will be telling everyone how we were treated. This was my second visit to Jefferson's. While I can't eat any of their amazing sounding food (as I can't have gluten...), the drinks always impress. The vibe is dark, moody, swanky and classy, without being pretentious. How they accomplish this is beyond me. The service is absolutely impeccable. The drinks are straight from an era long gone, with the most amazing sazerac I've ever had. The Jefferson has all the ingredients for a speakeasy -- a long list of creative and tasty traditional and modern cocktails, a warm atmosphere, outstanding service, a warm and friendly vibe, and a location you access through a staircase hidden behind and underneath an unassuming restaurant on Jefferson Boulevard. Honestly, who would have expected to find this gem hidden behind the airport? I especially loved the thoughtful touches including well-dressed bartenders and servers dressed with a nod to Prohibition days and silver trays on every table with water pitchers and glasses. Loved our Wedding After Party at the Jefferson Speakeasy Our wedding ended at 9:30, so we were able to arrange an after party at the Jefferson Speakeasy from 10:00-1:00 using a code name for entrance, which was fun and enabled us to keep it to just our group. The wedding was over before we knew it, but we were able to keep it going at the Jefferson Speakeasy, which prepared a spread of flatbread pizza, humus and crackers, and an amazing charcuterie board that fed an army. We must have had about 100 people move from the wedding to the speakeasy to keep the party going to 1:00. The vibe, food, and drinks are amazing. Such a cool vibe. We're so glad we had our after party at the Jefferson Speakeasy, which was across the street from our hotel so there was no driving. Alex, the owner, and the Jefferson speakeasy staff were great and so easy to work with for all the planning and execution. Highly recommend! read more

Some nights you just need to get out of the house for a bit. Not looking for a big meal, just a cocktail and change of scenery. Thanks to a fellow Yelper, I had just read a review about the Jefferson which seemed like the perfect fix for what ailed us. You really have to know this spot is there as there are not giant neon arrows pointing the way. Enter the parking lot from Jefferson Blvd, (can't get there from the side street!) and park at the back of the building. You'll pass the signed entrance, down a short flight of steps, on your way to park the car. Once inside, you are transported to a dimly lit, relaxing space you did not expect in a basement establishment. Jazz music over head, a (video) fire blazing and the included aroma of burning wood to make it more realistic. Small chandelier lighting overhead, large, gold framed paintings on the walls and tiny lamps at the huge dark wood bar to help you read the menu. The bar takes up the entire center of the floor space. Four sides, plenty of seating, drink menus every other seat and those cute little lamps the bartender will turn on as s/he pours you a heavy glass of the best tasting water in RI. (I asked, it's a 3 stage filtration system. Drink that amazing water!) Tables for two and more ring the room around the bar, with plenty of space to walk between. There's even a cozy nook for two. The bar staff are all well dressed, friendly and very professional. The drink menu contains a number of historical drink ideas, including an Absinthe Sazerac. If you have a favorite 'old school' beverage, I have no doubt they can make it. They carry many types/brands of spirits and I was pleased to see Kettle One grapefruit and rose infused vodka which makes a lovely vodka seltzer. My SO asked if they carried a particular whisky. They did not, but recommended another that would be similar and what he received was a silver tray filled with 1) a small glass of water, 2) a small glass of ice, 3) a spoon and 4) his shot of single malt scotch whisky in a perfect whiskey glass. This 10 year Ardbeg whisky was very smoky, aged in heavily charred barrels. Very much enjoyed and the presentation is perfect as well. I opted for the Capone Sidecar. A bit too sweet for my taste it's nice citrusy drink, not overly syrupy with a half sugar rim and an orange peel clipped to the class with a tiny little clothes pin. A wonderful presentation. There are hooks for your purse or jacket under the bar. Those small details matter. Although I did not use their restrooms (in the back, on the left) my SO tells me they have cloth towels to dry your hands. Nice touch. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance is very 'grown up' without any pretense. Guests were dressed in and assortment of flannel and jeans to dresses and business casual wear. So come as you are and enjoy a romantic cocktail at the Jefferson. read more

Jefferson Speakeasy is a hidden gem. It's tucked away under an old diner. The parking is small, but manageable. Inside has dim lighting and relaxing music to match. There is a huge bar that circles the Speakeasy. On the walls are small tables, and then two long tables in the corner. It's a great place for a small gathering of friends. The cocktails are amazing. Not pictured, their Espresso Martini is one of the very best I have tasted in Rhode Island. It's flavorful and fresh. Even though it is not creamy, it is still sweet. I definitely recommend anyone to try this drink if they love coffee or espresso martinis! They offer a limited food menu of about four choices, but I only go for drinks. A little gem in Warwick! Came here on a whim Saturday night with my husband. This is a really dope low key spot, the lights are all dim and just a very laid back ambiance. The music being played was great, it wasn't too loud or too low just perfect! We sat at the bar which was little lamps for patrons to use, it's very helpful while reading the menu FULL of drinks!
