Bodega At Night a.k.a Bodega on Smith is a fantastic speakeasy on Smith Street. While the neighborhood may seem sleepy, stepping inside transports you to a different world. You enter what looks like an ordinary sandwich shop, where a staff member announces your arrival over a microphone. You're then guided into a cozy, intimate area with ample seating. Michael, the bartender, is truly talented. We sampled the Blueberry Fields, the Spicy Paloma, the After Hours, and an Espresso Martini, all of which were delicious and expertly crafted. They offer a small but great selection of snacks and sandwiches. We tried the Cubano and the roasted beef sandwiches, and both were incredible. The service was outstanding, and we had the chance to sample various liqueurs and spirits. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at this hidden gem, and I hope it stays that way. They are only open on Friday and Saturday nights for now. They also have a DJ playing on certain nights. read more

Bodega On Smith - American Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

We saw them in the Providence Restaurant Weeks and decided to try their sandwiches for lunch. We were very impressed with the food and the service. Both our sandwiches were toasted, very well-seasoned and delicious. For the price of the special and regular everyday menu, we agreed to return to try more menu choices! Bravo!! read more

Came here for RI Food Fights and I chose their Cubano sandwich. It didn't live up to my expectations as I was surprised it lacked flavor. They had a twist to a normal Cubano by having the main meat pulled pork, but it didn't work. The pork has zero flavor and was dry. It wasn't like a classic BBQ joint's pulled pork. The ham was good but there was barely any - wish there was more of it. It needed more mustard as well. The ingredients were fresh and mostly homemade. The bread was pretty good also. read more

A nice neighborhood market/deli on Smith street, right where the Thai grocery store used to be. They have limited parking but street parking is usually not bad in this area. I went in to look for some ethnic groceries and they had a nice small selection of Asian and Latin American groceries. Unfortunately, the spiced rice that I was looking for.....they only had GOYA brand, which I don't buy because of GOYA's owner's political stands. Therefore, I did not buy any groceries. I checked out the deli section and their menu is large and varied. They have a large selection of prepared salads that look really nicely done. This business was born and created as a place where people can gather around excellent food, shopping, urban culture, and great coffee - that is the vision that Ken Zorabedian and Rick Melise had when they came up with the concept for Bodega on Smith. They wanted a place where people of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds could shop, meet, and mingle in the heart of Smith Hill, their childhood stomping ground. Located just a few blocks from the State Capital Building and a stone's throw from Downtown Providence, the Bodega on Smith provides quality produce from local Rhode Island farmers. You can pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. There's a selection of vegan and non-vegan gourmet cheeses, cured meats, and farm fresh eggs. The prepared foods section is internationally inspired and changes daily with both vegan and non-vegan options. The Market Menu is a rotating menu, and their sandwich menu has over 30 sandwiches and a dedicated Vegan Menu. The one thing that I can also say is when I walked in, there was a pungent odor inside the entire store. Not sure what that was, but for me, it was a bit of a turn off. read more

I really love this deli. I've never been to the speak easy so can't speak on that but will get there at some point. My only problem with the deli is that hours change and sometimes are not updated on social media. So twice I've came here and it was closed (over the summer and most recently at 6 on a Saturday- fyi they open at 8 now Saturdays). The food is really fresh and delicious. I really love the Ceasar wrap and meatball parm. You can add chips and a small size for $2 more. Prices are a little higher that surrounding sandwich shops but they use quality ingredients and meats. Parking is not great at all. I wish they were open a little earlier on weekends and maybe a little later weeekdays. My work schedule makes it tough to visit. Service is always friendly. There is some seating inside. read more

Our Christmas party was catered by this deli, which I am glad it was! Delicious sandwiches all around! I ordered the turkey with pesto, which I was very much impressed and pleased with. The New York delicatens, which are thought to be the world's best, should be apprehensive with this strong contender!!!!! read more

The Bodega has something for vegans and non vegans (aka meat eaters ) to enjoy. I tried a vegan Cubano sandwich the first time we visited the place, and a Reuben vegan this time...loved them! The coffee is very good as well. They also have the "normal" version of those sandwiches. The Bodega is not a fully vegan restaurant, in fact it is a mix of convenience store with tables to and a great atmosphere and staff; this is a great place to come with your non-vegan relatives/friends (we all know someone like that, oh well ) for breakfast or lunch. Pros: Many vegan options, friendly staff, delicious vegan sandwiches. Great coffee. Cons: Closes at 6 pm read more

Went to the newly opened market in Providence today and loved it! The market used to be an Asian market that I had been to many times in the past 15+ years. I was shocked to find that it had closed down, but was pleasantly surprised by the new market that replaced it. The owner did a great job renovating the place while still maintaining a similar layout to what the market had before. The floors and everything had been redone and looks great. It looks like a brand new place! The bodega is a market/deli so it has all of your produce and basic ingredients needs, but they also make sandwiches and other things you can order, and have prepared foods in their deli case. I love the diversity of ingredients and foods that they have and feel that it really fits the neighborhood's needs. They also had some tables you can sit at to enjoy your breakfast or lunch. Now my favorite thing about this place? They have vegan options!!! And not just any vegan food, but amazingly tasty vegan food! I got the teriyaki sandwich which is basically like a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and the sandwich was huge! They also had several non-vegan options - a win for everyone! I give the bodega 5 stars, loved everything about it. The atmosphere, the music, the food, and the service. Everyone working was friendly. Can't wait to go back and try other things. Thanks!! read more

This is a really nice addition to Smith Hill. We walked here from work down the road. Regular and vegan BLTs were fresh and delicious. Extra mayo was happily granted. The bread was excellent. The only caveat to perfection is they should consider including at no cost a small side of cole slaw, potato salad, or pasta salad -- or a small bag of chips. The decor is charming, lots to choose from on the menu, easy street parking, and just nice overall. read more

Went here to redeem our RI food fights sandwich passport coupon. It is a cute little shop on Smith. Several tables and chairs to sit at as well as a full bar w seating. They also had a small market as well. They offered 8 different sandwiches for the coupon. I really wanted to try the Cuban but they were sold out. We ended up getting a London broil roast beef sub with a horseradish, mayo, cheddar cheese. Lettuce, tomato and pickle onions. It was amazing. It was so big that we were able to cut it in quarters and have it last night at home as well as today for lunch. as you can see from the pictures, it was very full and very appetizing. We were stuffed even after cutting into quarters. They have a special on Tuesday nights burgers for five dollars freshly cooked as well as beers at five dollars as well. Then on Wednesday night save the spaghetti and meatball dinner for 1499 and kids are $10. This is definitely a hidden Jewel in Providence. You should go down and check it out. It is definitely worth the trip. read more

Besides the great sandwiches and great service you can get here during the day (the chop, Italian, Cuban and Reuben are all outstanding) you must come and check this place out at night. I love that this place exists. I ordered delivery but I want to try going in person. My order came hot and quickly. I had a vegan chicken Parmesan sandwich, which was huge! Sadly the cheese had a weird taste. It was essentially vegan tenders with the cheese and sauce. I wouldn't order it again because of the cheese. The tots were good. I didn't love the food but I'm down to try again with something different. Vegan food is hard so I appreciate them trying! Support! read more

Bodega on Smith was highly recommended so I had to try it. We ordered the Reuben, chopped cheese, the Italian, and a fry. The fries had a yummy seasoned salt on them and were perfectly crispy. All three sandwiches were delicious. The market has a great selection of groceries and the entire place is SUPER clean. The young man who took my order told me the cubano and the bodega roast beef were super popular so I look forward to coming back and trying them. read more

Smith Hill and Elmhurst have lacked a good sandwich shop for years, and I'm only mildly bitter that this opened up right when we moved from the area. We ordered the Italian hero and Cuban sandwich via DoorDash. Delivery was quick and as expected. The food was delicious. The portions were large and the sandwiches came wrapped in wax paper printed like a newsletter. I would definitely get the Italian sandwich again. My husband said he probably wouldn't order the Cuban again based on his preferences but he'd order something else with no hesitations. We were both very happy with the quality and freshness of the food and can't wait to try more sandwiches! read more

Neighborhood bodega in Smith Hill. Community oriented. No matter who you are there is something for everyone at this unique marketplace/deli. To top it off, the sandwiches and food are insane. The vegan menu will blow your mind. It's authentic food and vibes, done right ! read more

Glad to find a new spot with vegan options! I had a marinated tofu sandwich that was described on the menu as tofu ham. It didn't taste like ham but I didn't care. The sandwich was delish and substantial. I gave 4 stars because the latte wasn't great. Unfortunately, there wasn't enuf espresso in the drink for the amount of oat milk and it tasted like plain steamed milk. I felt the cost of the latte was on the high side, when it needed another shot that I would have to pay extra to add. read more

Finally a place that serves a WIDE variety of incredible sandwiches in the Smith Hill area. We stopped in for the first time since it opened and there was quite the amount of people waiting, which is typically a good sign. We ordered the Cubano and the bodega roast beef and the bread on each were crisp and fresh. It seems that the chopped cheese is the staple sandwich as 3 people ordered it while we were waiting. The store also sells a wide variety of drinks, snacks and miscellaneous grocery items that you might need. Excited to come back and try more off of their sandwich menu. read more

The best vegan options in the city ! A small menu of vegan comfort foods prepared to perfection! The chopped cheese is by far my favorite item on a menu full of amazing choices! Highly recommend this place for sure! It's definitely a throwback to when AS220 used to have good food. read more

Stopped to get sandwiches because we were in the area and we were both really happy with what we got. My son had a bagel sandwich and I had an Italian on a spinach wrap. Really fresh, tasted amazing. The woman at the counter was sweet and friendly and the restaurant was clean and well stocked. Parking available which is a huge bonus. It's always nice to discover these little gems in unexpected places (away from Thayer). We will definitely be going back. read more

Awesome little hidden gem on Smith Hill! Sandwiches are great with the ambiance and convenience of a NYC bodega.

Have been here three times and it was very good when they first opened (a month ago). However, it seems the good days may have already ended? I ordered a Prosciutto di Parma and it was, to put it nicely, sub-par. Especially for a $14 sandwich. My "large" was quite tiny, with 3 oz. of meat squashed on top of the sandwich so that you don't get all ingredients in every bite. The worst part though was that I had about three thin slices of American cheese instead of the large slices of mozzarella that is supposed to come on it. In my opinion, mozzarella is 75% of what makes a Prosciutto di Parma delicious! I hope it was just a fluke cause it could be a great addition to the neighborhood. Don't slack already guys.... you aren't even two months old! read more

I went there for the Grand Opening, where I ordered a Barbecue Seiten and to my surprise, despite being a Vegan for 10 years, I was served a Rueben Sandwich. This absolutely turned my stomach. The staff were friendly and fun; such a nice vibe and setup for a quick lunch or on the go! We will be back for sure! read more

Recommended by concierge at the renaissance hotel In Providence. All was amazing. We had a chop cheese, Cubano and an Italian sandwich. There was no skimping on meat which was premium and the bread was perfectly fresh- all locally sourced. Owners and staff were very friendly. We'll be back for PC parent's weekend. read more

Just ordered delivery through GrubHub. Ordered the Cubano and the Teriyaki Chicken with 2 cream sodas. Only received the Cubano and one cream soda. Nothing worst than a restaurant not capable of reading an order slip and packing the bag accordingly. So we had to split our lunch. Cubano was substantial, but the shredded pork was tasteless other than being drowned in mustard and had no pickles. Won't try them again because of the incompetence. read more
