I just visited The Social House for the first time for a fabulous event and it absolutely did not disappoint. The vibe and decor are amazing. There are little details everywhere you look and it feels fun, warm and intentionally designed without trying too hard. It is such a great space for a gathering. The food was delicious. I tried the weekly deviled eggs, a selection of charcuterie and cheeses, and the whipped feta dip with fresh cut veggies. Everything was fresh, flavorful and perfect for grazing during a cocktail-style event. The winter cranberry spritz was basically all of my favorite flavors in one glass. So so good. Their cocktail and mocktail menu really shines and I cannot wait to go back and try more. As someone with food intolerances, I asked plenty of questions and everyone was friendly, patient and helpful with both menu guidance and cocktail suggestions. That always makes such a difference. There was even parking, which is a huge bonus. This is the perfect spot for a winter cocktail party or a fun night out. I will definitely be gathering my girls and heading back soon. read more

We absolutely love Social House! Not only is it one of our regular go-to spots, but we even celebrated my best friend's 40th birthday there and we had a time! The energy, the vibe, the whole atmosphere made it the perfect place to celebrate such a big milestone. Other than special occasions, we go often just because it's consistently a great experience. The ambiance is always nice, lively but still comfortable, making it perfect for date nights, girls' nights, or birthdays. The drinks are always yummy, well-done, and creative. You can tell thought goes into both the presentation and the flavor. And of course, the tapas never disappoints -- flavorful, fresh, and well plated every time. First time in this spot and I have to admit dim speakeasy-ish bars are not my scene. That said, service was fantastic- we were here with a large party and they were on the ball the whole night. Food came out exactly as planned and I have to say it was all solid! The most notable things were surprisingly, the sausage balls. Mouthwateringly delicious. Very strongly seasoned, nice and crust from cooking in the cast iron pan, a medium-hot spice level and a great portion. The deviled eggs were great. They were tender, creamy and topped with a healthy dose of diced ham chunks. Very nice to texturally break things up a little. The vegetable board was great- it's exactly what you'd expect. The French onion and the feta dips were great, the white bean and garlic lacked a bit of flavor for me. I also would have preferred something different from the cherry tomatoes personally, they weren't very "dipable". The meat trio flatbread was better than expected! Brisket, bacon, and sausage I think? Topped with gorgonzola, quite the array of flavor. All tied together with a red sauce. Wasn't expecting much based on the slightly pale crust, but it turned out being great. Not big on drinks, (i know, it's a bar.. wasn't my choice) but I got "The Easy Pear". Jeez, they don't hold back on booze here. I'll be honest, I kind of wish it had more flavor from the pear and less alcohol, but that's probably an unpopular decision. This was a great spot, we were well taken care of and if you're looking for a good drink and shareable plate spot, you should give it a shot. What a swanky little spot!!! Came here for drinks and small bites and it fit the bill! Plenty of street parking as well as lot in the back. Smaller space but plenty of seating from what I could see. We sat at the bar - not too busy so we found two spots. The drinks were quite interesting and there was a plethora to pick from! I fell into the trap of ordering a drink for pictures lol - so I ordered the Jungle Bird which came in a cage. It was good but not great - I'd try other options next time around. For food we order the pork belly bites, edamame, fried eggplant and fig walnut flatbread. By far our fave was the pork belly bites. Fried eggplant was just ok and flatbread although had a lot of great flavors was a bit too heavily doused with fig jam. We still enjoyed our food but would come back to try other options. In case you don't think Yelp Elite Events don't work, you are mistaken! I was invited to an evening outing at The Social House and the very next day, I took hubby for cocktail. And we have been back again! The Social House is by our marina. We had been boating all day and were salty, casual and windblown. I really wanted to introduce hubby to this place so I called and asked if we were appropriately attired. Shorts and regular shirts were okay, no hats. I wouldn't go dressed this way later in the evening but it was just 5pm and we were going for one drink - so in and out before all the beautiful people get there after work! Hubby opted for a very dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. It was perfect! I went with LaLa Lemon - Malfy lemon gin, lemon sorbet, lemon zest, mint leaf. I love this cocktail - sour with a hint of sweet. We were going home to clean clams and make clam zuppa so we didn't eat but I can vouch for the deliciousness and variety of the charcuterie boards and flatbreads - especially the mushroom & onion with garlic oil, mozz, roasted mushroom, roasted onion and goat cheese. I read another Yelp review that said he ordered a drink which he loved but then wanted a beer and didn't feel any judgment for his order. That doesn't sound like much but sometimes at a cocktail lounge, the pressure to order is a thing. First off, the service was great. They really seemed to appreciate feedback and all the staff were so nice. Unfortunately, the drinks were nothing special. The food really wasn't good and I wouldn't recommend unless you really need something to eat while drinking. The dessert board and the fig and walnut flatbread are totally different than the online photos and the quality is really cheap for how expensive they are. We decided to try this new cocktail house. We are big speakeasy goers - and frequent The Jefferson, Needle and Thread, and quite a few others. We decided to try this new place for dessert after our meal at Chappell Grille. When we first walked in, my immediate impression was : Oh no. Loud pop music and New-York-Meat-Market-Wanna-Be like the Main Street Martini Bar and Kai Bar and Blue on the Water in EG. But I quickly changed my tune when we walked through it to our table. It was full of normal townies in a wide age range of (I'd guess) 30s to 60s - dressed nice and out for a nice night, but not a meat market for 20-somethings at all. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful (since we were new). My partner plays ice hockey and is a down-to-earth fellow and he felt that the staff at The Social House were less snooty than at the Jefferson: his gauge was that he didn't feel judged for ordering just a beer as his second drink. LOL . I find the staff at both places equally friendly (personally). We sat in the cushy-chairs to the left of the entrance. The cocktail menu has a nice assortment of different drinks to suit most varied tastes. We tried the Lala Lemon and Bombay Bramble (blackberry) cocktails, and liked both, as well as the half-board of dessert. We were very glad we got the half-board, because it was more than enough dessert for two people. And it had Pirouettes! Those to-die-for round sticks with chocolate-hazelnut inside that you dip in Nutella. It also had Swedish Fish which was also a favorite for us. The bar is dark and woodsy-hued with a mix of vintage kitsch and modern refinery - but inviting and not snobbish. I felt the dessert board emphasized the style of the entire cocktail bar: Amélie-Poulain-meets-Zelda-Hemingway. We weren't a fan of the music style - though I didn't mark down for that. It's the owners choice. But it didn't fit the vibe of a speakeasy-late-night-cocktail-house at all. They really should switch to some type of groove-after-midnight track or bossa nouveau or Moby or old school Exotica or the sort: More chill vibes would fit the style of bar better. The only reason I couldn't give it 5-Stars was due to the volume of music- it was so loud we had trouble hearing each other to chat and converse. You'll see that noise-pollution is a constant theme in my reviews - I want to be able to hear who I am sitting with. If I cant then that is a problem, because the entire reason we go out with people is to converse with them. The music volume needs to come down a couple notches. But we really liked the place a lot other than that and we'll definitely go back to try it again. read more

Decided to try this new little spot in Apponaug and we were in the mood for drinks and perhaps a nosh. First the good: Nice posh atmosphere, albeit pretty loud. But that goes with the vibe. The hostess was perky, the server was very nice as well. The food was tasty (charcuterie) but somewhat generic. The standout was the Gorgonzola chips which was mound of fresh chips covered in a lake of Gorgonzola sauce. The chips remained quite crispy which was quite a feat. (Edit: I failed to mention the homemade pickles which were fantastic and went great in top of the chips and Gorgonzola) The Average : the charcuterie was very simple. 3 meats (2 of which were very similar), 2 very similar cheeses and curiously mozzarella balls(?). The Gorgonzola chips were very good, but it was actually too much of a good thing. In fact, a problem I say at other tables in addition to ours was a lack of room. Normally large servings are a good thing, but this was balancing act with the actual size of your table. The Bad: hovering management... I mean there's working the room and then there is intrusive. After we ordered the server returned and we were asked for a credit card to "hold the tab"... I found this rather unusual in a restaurant especially since we aren't at the bar. My companion noticed that the tables that were seated nearby were NOT asked the same question. That combined with the hovering made it feel like we were being singled out as potential "dashers". Pretty insulting in retrospect. I don't know if this was intentional or not that was our perception. Your mileage and experience may differ but here's hoping they do a little better at making EVERY guest feel welcome. That's the key to long term success, not exclusivity. P.S - to the manager/owner - I get that you want to chat up the pretty ladies, but when a guest needs to get by and you blatantly IGNORE him, forcing him to squeeze around other guests -- THATS a problem. read more

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! A former coworker was in from Kansas City and I wanted to find a place near her hotel that we could go to for drinks. I went to the Social House for drinks on my birthday and it was okay. The bar was very busy and we had to wait for a few minutes outside before the bouncer let us in. The decor is adorable but the inside is tiny and even with a bouncer directing patrons it was still very packed inside. The drink menu is fancy and very pricey. The vibes are definitely fancy. There is a dress code and they expect you to adhere to it. If you're looking for a casual drink I would say skip it, but if you're going out dressed up for a fancy occasion it's worth giving it a try. read more
