It's been a hot second since we were at The Social House! We spent the day on the boat in Apponaug & it was hubby's birthday so it seemed like the perfect time for a celebration martini! It was Sunday, a little on the early side, so the bar was wide open. Hubby opted for his signature drink: a very dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. I went with my favorite drink at The Social House - LaLa Lemon: malfy lemon gin, lemon sorbet, lemon zest, mint leaf. Both cocktails are absolute perfection! Next time, we are definitely going to try their signature cocktail - The Jungle Bird (served in a cage): bumbu rum, campari, amaretto, lime, pineapple, brown sugar, pineapple wedge. Whenever I think intimate date night with cozy chic seating, I think Social House. Decor is stunning. The outside is nondescript, with speakeasy vibes. Management always seems to be there when I arrive, happy to greet and seat me and make sure I understand specials and how the menu works. Cocktail selection is good with unique flavor profiles. The menu is tapas style. Not super expansive but some good options. Last time I was in, I got the Asian chicken skewers that are served over cold noodles (absolutely delicious), and a half flatbread half panini plate. Pizza (mushroom and onion) was good. Panini was just ok, a little dry. This is the kind of spot I enjoy coming to for the ambiance and cocktails. Not necessarily my favorite for a sit down meal, but that isn't the point. After learning of this place the first time from a Yelp! Elite event, I have visited at least four more times. I like the vibe of this place, as well as the menu, drinks, service, and location (off Providence, right in Warwick by the rotary close to the Warwick city hall). I don't have to deal with parking challenges while getting to enjoy an after work speakeasy to unwind before going home. I enjoy their smoked pork belly bites--just right paired with any cocktail. One of my Yelp buddies recommended this place and usually his drink places are spot on but I wasn't too fan of this one. I only got one drink the pink flamingo it honestly wasn't very tasty. The ambiance is fine but it does get very busy I came a little bit before the dinner rush and it was really hopping here. Loved this place. The atmosphere was like an old speakeasy. The decor was perfect dark colors with lights on the tables. You could sit at the bar or one of the comfy chairs with tables. Their drink menu was really good with many choices. They have many food options that are good for sharing. Our waitress was phenomenal and answered all of our questions. We had the half flatbread of prosciutto and fig which was terrific. We also that the pork belly in Asian sauce I think that was our favorite. You will not be disappointed read more

I just visited The Social House for the first time for a fabulous event and it absolutely did not disappoint. The vibe and decor are amazing. There are little details everywhere you look and it feels fun, warm and intentionally designed without trying too hard. It is such a great space for a gathering. The food was delicious. I tried the weekly deviled eggs, a selection of charcuterie and cheeses, and the whipped feta dip with fresh cut veggies. Everything was fresh, flavorful and perfect for grazing during a cocktail-style event. The winter cranberry spritz was basically all of my favorite flavors in one glass. So so good. Their cocktail and mocktail menu really shines and I cannot wait to go back and try more. As someone with food intolerances, I asked plenty of questions and everyone was friendly, patient and helpful with both menu guidance and cocktail suggestions. That always makes such a difference. There was even parking, which is a huge bonus. This is the perfect spot for a winter cocktail party or a fun night out. I will definitely be gathering my girls and heading back soon. read more

What a swanky little spot!!! Came here for drinks and small bites and it fit the bill! Plenty of street parking as well as lot in the back. Smaller space but plenty of seating from what I could see. We sat at the bar - not too busy so we found two spots. The drinks were quite interesting and there was a plethora to pick from! I fell into the trap of ordering a drink for pictures lol - so I ordered the Jungle Bird which came in a cage. It was good but not great - I'd try other options next time around. For food we order the pork belly bites, edamame, fried eggplant and fig walnut flatbread. By far our fave was the pork belly bites. Fried eggplant was just ok and flatbread although had a lot of great flavors was a bit too heavily doused with fig jam. We still enjoyed our food but would come back to try other options. Out bartender was wonderful, very sweet and attentive and gave us the right around of attention. This is an absolutely great spot just chilling for after work drinks and small bites! First time in this spot and I have to admit dim speakeasy-ish bars are not my scene. That said, service was fantastic- we were here with a large party and they were on the ball the whole night. Food came out exactly as planned and I have to say it was all solid! The most notable things were surprisingly, the sausage balls. Mouthwateringly delicious. Very strongly seasoned, nice and crust from cooking in the cast iron pan, a medium-hot spice level and a great portion. The deviled eggs were great. They were tender, creamy and topped with a healthy dose of diced ham chunks. Very nice to texturally break things up a little. The vegetable board was great- it's exactly what you'd expect. The French onion and the feta dips were great, the white bean and garlic lacked a bit of flavor for me. I also would have preferred something different from the cherry tomatoes personally, they weren't very "dipable". The meat trio flatbread was better than expected! Brisket, bacon, and sausage I think? Topped with gorgonzola, quite the array of flavor. All tied together with a red sauce. Wasn't expecting much based on the slightly pale crust, but it turned out being great. Not big on drinks, (i know, it's a bar.. wasn't my choice) but I got "The Easy Pear". Jeez, they don't hold back on booze here. I'll be honest, I kind of wish it had more flavor from the pear and less alcohol, but that's probably an unpopular decision. This was a great spot, we were well taken care of and if you're looking for a good drink and shareable plate spot, you should give it a shot. I have been to hundreds and hundreds of bars/restaurants before. This is the first establishment that has prompted me to create a Yelp review. We went for my sister's birthday and had a reservation. The owner was very clear that he had private party at 630 however he had a nice space for us at 4pm. The owner went above and beyond with showing us the best customer service I have ever seen. I noticed how he greeted everyone that walked in with a handshake and as we were leaving he came out in the rain to make sure we had a good experience. I have never seen this level of customer service before and will 100% be back soon. read more

We absolutely love Social House! Not only is it one of our regular go-to spots, but we even celebrated my best friend's 40th birthday there and we had a time! The energy, the vibe, the whole atmosphere made it the perfect place to celebrate such a big milestone. Other than special occasions, we go often just because it's consistently a great experience. The ambiance is always nice, lively but still comfortable, making it perfect for date nights, girls' nights, or birthdays. The drinks are always yummy, well-done, and creative. You can tell thought goes into both the presentation and the flavor. And of course, the tapas never disappoints -- flavorful, fresh, and well plated every time. First off, the service was great. They really seemed to appreciate feedback and all the staff were so nice. Unfortunately, the drinks were nothing special. The food really wasn't good and I wouldn't recommend unless you really need something to eat while drinking. The dessert board and the fig and walnut flatbread are totally different than the online photos and the quality is really cheap for how expensive they are. This place is unreal. I unfortunately missed the Yelp Elite event due to my academic schedule, but knew it was a must visit establishment. From the moment you enter through the peacock colored curtains, you're ushered into a masterful vision. The art on the wall begins to tell the tale of whimsy, the drink list building on the story, the shareable bites completing the journey. The owner was kind enough to explain the vision he and his wife so artfully crafted, after which he was a regular visitor to our table, ensuring the experience was just as magical as it should be. Our server, Dallas was nothing short of spectacular. Our drinks never ran empty, he ensured each beverage was to our liking. (Try the LYCHEE drink! Seriously! It was a journey to wonderland!) The charcuterie board was amazing, with accommodations made for my gluten allergy. Those crackers were amazing. The granny's pickle jar was a wonderful addition to the dance our tastebuds were already doing. The fries with their accompanying sauces hit so many notes. Gabe, one of the bartenders, not only commands the bar area with his expertise in making drinks, but also makes a genuine attempt to connect with the customers. My husband and I know him from a previous restaurant we frequented. His coworkers were equally welcoming. "Better Than MSC" is by far the best espresso martini in town, and the modest food menu provides a variety of choices without being too overwhelming. Social House is truly a not-so hidden gem. From the ambiance to the service, food and drinks... WOW. Every little detail is accounted for, every time. Full disclosure: I work here. But who better to hear a review from, than a very honest staff member with nothing to gain? The venue itself is absolutely stunning. The decor fits a certain theme (I won't spoil it for you), but it's evident throughout the space and the intentionally chosen wallpaper, light fixtures, and overall interior design. Inviting, intimate, warm and, well...incredibly sexy. Speak-easy vibes. Not a TV in sight. Now THIS is a night out. Best part? You don't have to go to Providence to experience it. Let's talk drinks. Strong? Yes. Delicious? Yes. Each cocktail on the menu is different (and there's quite a few), so there's no reason not to find something you like. Pick your poison, and your server will help guide you. My personal favorites are the Banana-Rum Old Fashioned, which pairs PERFECTLY with the Pork Belly Bites (we'll get to that later), the Better Than MSC Espresso Martini, and (not on the menu), but their Hot 'N Dirties are to die for. Blue cheese olives. Mhm. If you're a Hot 'N Dirty, or even just a Dirty Martini girl, look no further. The moment you've been waiting for: the food. We decided to try this new cocktail house. We are big speakeasy goers - and frequent The Jefferson, Needle and Thread, and quite a few others. We decided to try this new place for dessert after our meal at Chappell Grille. When we first walked in, my immediate impression was : Oh no. Loud pop music and New-York-Meat-Market-Wanna-Be like the Main Street Martini Bar and Kai Bar and Blue on the Water in EG. But I quickly changed my tune when we walked through it to our table. It was full of normal townies in a wide age range of (I'd guess) 30s to 60s - dressed nice and out for a nice night, but not a meat market for 20-somethings at all. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful (since we were new). My partner plays ice hockey and is a down-to-earth fellow and he felt that the staff at The Social House were less snooty than at the Jefferson: his gauge was that he didn't feel judged for ordering just a beer as his second drink. LOL . I find the staff at both places equally friendly (personally). We sat in the cushy-chairs to the left of the entrance. The cocktail menu has a nice assortment of different drinks to suit most varied tastes. We tried the Lala Lemon and Bombay Bramble (blackberry) cocktails, and liked both, as well as the half-board of dessert. We were very glad we got the half-board, because it was more than enough dessert for two people. And it had Pirouettes! Those to-die-for round sticks with chocolate-hazelnut inside that you dip in Nutella. It also had Swedish Fish which was also a favorite for us. The bar is dark and woodsy-hued with a mix of vintage kitsch and modern refinery - but inviting and not snobbish. I felt the dessert board emphasized the style of the entire cocktail bar: Amélie-Poulain-meets-Zelda-Hemingway. We weren't a fan of the music style - though I didn't mark down for that. It's the owners choice. But it didn't fit the vibe of a speakeasy-late-night-cocktail-house at all. They really should switch to some type of groove-after-midnight track or bossa nouveau or Moby or old school Exotica or the sort: More chill vibes would fit the style of bar better. The only reason I couldn't give it 5-Stars was due to the volume of music- it was so loud we had trouble hearing each other to chat and converse. You'll see that noise-pollution is a constant theme in my reviews - I want to be able to hear who I am sitting with. If I cant then that is a problem, because the entire reason we go out with people is to converse with them. The music volume needs to come down a couple notches. But we really liked the place a lot other than that and we'll definitely go back to try it again. read more

A mix of industrial and tropical design with a little prohibition era speakeasy sprinkled in. I promise you it all works! The cocktail list is extensive and made it very hard to choose just one. Think you're stepping into a cocktail lounge only? You'd be wrong. Social house is serving snacks and small plates as well, so don't be afraid to come hungry. One half bar, one half lounge with leather seats, there are plenty of places to park it and enjoy your food and drink. Service has been extremely friendly; and fast! Decided to try this new little spot in Apponaug and we were in the mood for drinks and perhaps a nosh. First the good: Nice posh atmosphere, albeit pretty loud. But that goes with the vibe. The hostess was perky, the server was very nice as well. The food was tasty (charcuterie) but somewhat generic. The standout was the Gorgonzola chips which was mound of fresh chips covered in a lake of Gorgonzola sauce. The chips remained quite crispy which was quite a feat. (Edit: I failed to mention the homemade pickles which were fantastic and went great in top of the chips and Gorgonzola) The Average : the charcuterie was very simple. 3 meats (2 of which were very similar), 2 very similar cheeses and curiously mozzarella balls(?). The Gorgonzola chips were very good, but it was actually too much of a good thing. In fact, a problem I say at other tables in addition to ours was a lack of room. Normally large servings are a good thing, but this was balancing act with the actual size of your table. The Bad: hovering management... I mean there's working the room and then there is intrusive. After we ordered the server returned and we were asked for a credit card to "hold the tab"... I found this rather unusual in a restaurant especially since we aren't at the bar. My companion noticed that the tables that were seated nearby were NOT asked the same question. That combined with the hovering made it feel like we were being singled out as potential "dashers". Pretty insulting in retrospect. I don't know if this was intentional or not that was our perception. Your mileage and experience may differ but here's hoping they do a little better at making EVERY guest feel welcome. That's the key to long term success, not exclusivity. P.S - to the manager/owner - I get that you want to chat up the pretty ladies, but when a guest needs to get by and you blatantly IGNORE him, forcing him to squeeze around other guests -- THATS a problem. read more
