    Crispy Chicken Sandwich

The Shanty is a quant restaurant (and good sized bar) serving up unique twists on some tasty comfort food. The TV dinner, which changes seasonally, is certainly playful, and the Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, maple carrots, apple crumble, etc. was a hit. The fish and chips, fried chicken sandwich, and burger were all somewhat predictable, but they were also all well executed. The thick beef patty had all the expected accoutrements, the fish was tender and flavorfully battered, and the rustic cut fries appeared hand cut. My son loves tartar sauce, but didn't care for their version, which contains artichokes. Our server steered us toward the comfort food, rather than the salmon or statler chicken we were eyeing. She was attentive, but relaxed, and cinnamon sugar rimmed beer added to the warm vibe!

My dad has always raved about this place. I think it was alright. Service was casual, not really necessarily friendly, in my experience. My dad had a salmon dish I didn't get to try but it looked crispy and delicious. I was not too peckish so I ordered calamari & caesar salad for my meal. I had a diet coke + lime. The lime was rotting brown and gross so I just put it on the table. Small things matter. Calamari was okay but chewy and after it cooled a bit, it was incredibly tough and inedible. Caesar was dressed well and chopped finely which I always loooove. I wish it had anchovies! Next time I check this place out, if I do, I think I will try brunch because I have heard nice things about it.

    * Big Ole Burger add avocado, bacon, egg * Cod fried * Big Ole Burger no sauce, no tomato * Tater tots * Fries The service was really good. The cod had a watery outside that made its inside kind of soggy which was weird cuz it was so crispy on outside. They don't have cocktail sauce. The tartar was good. I sent back the sandwich and got the burger. Super solid quality beef and good pickles. Also the onion was grilled which is new without having to ask. Also they don't load the burger down with lettuce. I like. My husband devoured his burger before I even blinked he added egg and avocado and bacon I think lol Cute place with some outdoor seating. Seems really busy around brunch but they were attentive and the was a midsized parking situation available.

So I am in the industry and was searching for a local place to make a regular spot. What a beautiful place. I think I may have found it. Came in and was immediately greeted by Sergio and Kaylee. The informed me that I made it in time for 1/2 off apps. The buffalo wings were amazing! Sauced perfectly with a nice crunch because I asked for them well done and they definitely made them perfectly for me! I ordered the NY strip and informed the dynamic duo of my mushroom allergy, they were kind enough to let me substitute the risotto for the Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the Mac and cheese had a breadcrumb topping and was phenomenal. I enjoyed a few drinks, my favorite was made by Kaylee, it was the cherry limeade mule, beautiful presentation and such a great taste. To finish the night Sergio informed me that the desserts are made in house, I had the espresso cheesecake. Let me tell you I was happy Sergio suggested it, the dynamic duo almost had to wheel me out tonight. I can't wait to see what's on the menu next Monday!

Stopped in here while in Warwick for a quick bite to eat. Pleasantly surprised when opening the door to go inside. A nice big open bar, totally expected a place with just tables! Small outdoor seating as you come across the parking lot ! Looked cute and well covered. We stopped for something small and a drink on a Sunday . Nice brunch style breakfast and lunch menu. We had a few draft beers, the yam fries and soy wings. The yam fries came with a tasty aïoli sauce for dipping. The fries themselves were bland , fried with skins still attached, I had to peel the skins off so I could bite into the fries . A little over seasoned . The wings were crispy, and nicely cooked but too salty for my taste. Had a nice stop . If you are looking for a decent bite , it was what we were lookng for.

Chose this place for their lobster roll, which did not disappoint! It was full of tender, sweet lobster meat that was perfectly accented with lemon, celery, and a touch of dill on a toasted brioche bun. The accompanying fries seemed housemade, with the skin still on. My coworker tried the skirt steak with asparagus risotto, which he really enjoyed. The cinnamon blondie was dense and buttery, not too sweet but too rich for me to finish. The ambience is relaxed and cozy, a nice place to hang out except the hard wood bench seats at the booth tables were not very comfortable. Overall a nice meal to start off our RI visit.

    Sweet Soy Wings (Small Plate)

Today I ordered Sweet soy Korean wings AND Korean lettuce wrap! The small plates were such excellent serving sizes for me, personally ~ the sweet soy wings were sweet and juicy, with a good crunch! They were a solid choice and I'd it a 3.5 out of 5~ the Korean lettuce wraps were delicious! They have great apple slices and the beef was savory! I like ordering interesting cocktails and I got the Tea & Peaches drink, and I can guarantee it was strong~~ worth the cost~ The waitress was kind and the food was a bit of a wait. Seating was provided in the outdoor setting because the wait was bit long for an inside table. My table was wobbly but clean and looked nice. The area is small but pleasant for the good weather season. Service was a bit slow because it's out of the way for waitresses~

    Bacon & Brussel Salad

Rating: 4 I've been meaning to try this place for a while and gave it a try. The place is medium sized Korean American fusion restaurant bar with optional outdoor seating. We were sat down quickly due to open outdoor seating. We ordered sweet soy fried chicken wings, bacon and Brussels salad, and Korean beef lettuce wrap. Sweet soy chicken wing was crispy, savory and juicy. It was a bit on the sweeter side. Korean beef lettuce wrap was refreshing and flavorful. Apple slices were a nice touch. Bacon and Brussels salad was okay. I felt that dressing and goat cheese was overwhelming and could not taste the flavor of Brussel sprouts and bacon. Overall the place was good and service was decent. If I were to try again I would definitely try other dishes they offer. However I felt that food and portion did not justify their prices. Definitely on more expensive side and I know some places that offer similar dishes at better quality and prices.

Very cozy place with delicious menu options and specially curated cocktails! We shared the crab cake latkes - which were quite crispy but we had wished for more flavoring/seasoning. However our lobster rolls were served with a generous portion of lobster meat and fries - perfect first meal at Rhode Island. Special shoutout to our server giving us such great recs around the area!

    Do you have outdoor dining?

    Yes

Do you do bottomless mimosa brunch?

No but they have great drinks

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes and booster seats!

How vegan friendly is this place?

I would say moderately so. Since they make every order freshly, they are more likely to be accommodating. You can't really be farm to table and not be vegetarian/vegan friendly.

The place was packed and they only had maybe 5 or 6 employees so the service was a little slow but understandable. I think the longest wait was about 20 minutes when we were waiting to get our initial drink order taken, but everything after that was fairly quick. For drinks I got a thin mint martini because they were out of the chocolate reuge martini I wanted. It was so yummy and came with 3 thin mint cookies. My mom got a pistachio martini and the Jefferson Tea. Both were pretty good but I wouldn't order again. My dad got Dead Mans Redemption which is good if you like bourbon. It comes with a wood topper and they light it on fire, let smoke fill in the drink, and then take the wood off. The drink then has notes of smoked wood in it which is cool. For food we got the crispy spring rolls and pepperoni flatbread. Both were so good!!!! It was absolutely worth the wait!!! I could eat the whole flatbread myself it was that good and I can't wait to go back and get another one. The crowd is definitely much older, not a lot of younger people around. It's a good date night for married couples. Overall it was a nice place and I would come back.

This made our dining experience very pleasant. I order the Churro Iced Café Exprés for a drink, and it was so impressive looking. I loved that the churro was warm and the drink itself was really tasty. However, I think there was way too much whipped cream and not enough of the actual drink. For my main dish, I chose the Barbacoa Benedict - a super popular choice according to the waitress, and for good reason! The Benedict really was delicious, the meat was tender, the flavors popped, and I love a good bolo roll as a base. But, the homefries were SO salty. They were cooked nicely, but I couldn't enjoy them for more than a few bites. Overall, I really enjoyed Sombra as a brunch spot and would certainly visit again. Priced a little highly in my opinion- I got the meat Omelette. It was tasty, it had a fair bit of carne asada in it and it was well seasoned. It also had some bacon and chorizo in there if memory serves me. I thought the portion could have been a little bit better for $23, or better yet, just make it $18-19. There's no reason an Omelette should come with a $23 price tag. I was actually satisfied with the portion given the mound of home fries. Which by the way were very tasty albeit, over salted. The braised beef Benedict that my wife got was very good, my only critique on it would be to toast the bolo a bit more because the whole thing was one texture. It missed the crunch you get with an English muffin as the base. I also thought the beef could have been more seasoned. One other order at the table included the breakfast tacos. You get 4 tacos piled with food. Actually looked like you got more than the Omelette. Noted for next time. I didn't order this, but tried it at the table- the spiked horchata drink was tasty. A little heavy on the whipped cream but it was a good drink! We were surprisingly the only ones in there besides one other table. Doesn't seem like brunch has caught on here? Nonetheless, I think you should give it a try, we were well taken care of and there wasn't anything we didn't like.

Be warned, it's on the more expensive side for dining and may be a coin toss for "is it worth it" for those that enjoy a night out but also looking for value. Food was a mixed bag for us.... Starting with the smashburger was genuinely disappointing as the burger itself was dry and advertised as a "French onion" smashburger that failed to deliver any of the rich, savory flavor we expected with a name like "French onion smashburger". The hot honey Mac and cheese was very good and flavorful... The hot being more of a vinegary heat than I expected but the cream sauce was rich. Speaking of value earlier.... Smashburger was $20 and the Mac and cheese was $28. Entrees were $10-15 more it seemed but previous reviews all spoke highly of the entrees and would want to try them if we visit again. The overall service experience was disappointing for us. Not for the demeanor of the staff but everything else... We had a decent size group of 8 (5 adults and 3 kids) and was fortunate to have a dining room to help the kids burn some energy while not bothering the other diners. However, from ordering to entrees to arrive was 45 very hungry minutes. It also took 20+ mins just to get drinks. Once the food arrived, they also were short two of the kids meals which was thankfully corrected quick. We then were somewhat "gently" being asked to wrap things up by 3 staff members in 10 mins making the rounds to clear plates and any to go containers. We all understand the business in the food industry and turning tables, and trust me, after an hour from arriving to food on the table we wanted to get home for bed time. However, really sours the experience and would not advocate going here with large groups.... Between the kitchen and staff I can't say you'd have a guaranteed good time.

They do have parking available which is nice since there area mostly only have street parking. Inside is pretty large and they have lots of tables and counter. It was not too busy so we were sat down right away. They did have some easter specials but i ended up getting Fried chicken sandwich and deviled eggs. Deviled egg came out quickly. It was ok looked kind of sad as seen on the picture. Rest of the food took a while for it to come out which was weird because it wasn't that busy. Maybe short staffed. Finally the food arrived. Fried chicken sandwich was honestly not that great. Looked like it was fried too long, darkened. The cut did not have a lot of meat and it was very dry. The sauce and brioche bun helped it to balance it a bit. Fries were good. Overall the food was ok at best. We decided to try their dessert. We got the easter special egg cheese cake and carrot cake. The desert was excellent. Egg cheese cake had egg and nest looking chocolate frosting which made it look in theme for easter. It had nice creamy cheese flavor with chocolate frosting and good crust at the bottom. Carrot cake was moist and delicious. Service was ok. We had a new server that seemed like was not fully trained yet with knowledge about their menu. Wait was long for the main meal. I can see that she was trying though. Overall the place was ok. Food quality seemed to be inconsistent with the menus. If anything i would come back for the desert if they have the cheese cake around again.
