The Shanty is one of those places I don't go to nearly enough and I really need to change that. I was specifically craving hand-cut fries and theirs did NOT disappoint. I got the Big Ol' Burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly, the special sauce was delicious and as you can probably tell from the photo, the fries were exactly what I was looking for. Everything tastes really fresh here. It has that farm-to-table quality, but in a relaxed, laid-back (but still really pretty) setting. We came for lunch and I loved that they had brunch options too. We didn't get any adult beverages but I was very tempted by the entire drink menu, so next time! Our service was also outstanding. Really everything was A+. Definitely a local spot that I need to remember to go to more often. read more

In town for work and was looking for a place to grab a bite after work. I found The Shanty on Yelp. The moment I opened the door I was greeted, by the owner, with the most upbeat personality and smile! She showed me to my table, brought a carafe of water, and welcomed me in. I was quickly welcomed by Sergio, my server, who shared the special and the soup of the day. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town. read more

My experience here was highly enjoyable. It was late and I was fresh off of travel, I sat at the bar. I hadn't eaten so I ordered a bit of everything with the waitress recommendation. The Mac and cheese was delicious and a bit garlicky. It was the breadcrumbs but worth it. The flatbread was more of a personal pizza than a flat bread and it was hot honey and delicious. And the wings were the perfect amount of sweet and savory. It's smaller than you think and I can understand why they would be busy all the time. It's a great establishment. read more

Cute spot! Stopped in with a friend after work on a Thursday. We got in quickly without a reservation but I can see what people are saying that if you are going on a weekend during peak hours that you should make a reservation as it isn't a huge restaurant! Our waitress was very nice and patient with us while we took awhile to order. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and my friend got the ceasar wrap. The fries were great, sandwiches were also really good! Would like to come back and get one of their main dishes as they all sounded pretty good. We got the bread pudding for dessert (sorry forgot the photo) but that was really good!! Would get again. read more

I was looking for something to eat while visiting Rhode Island for work and found The Shanty on Yelp. I arrived around just after 5 and sat at the bar. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but there was a steady crowd. People were either dining in or picking up to-go orders. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, so there are plenty of areas to dine. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I decided to go with the seared salmon, Brussels sprouts, and corn risotto. Thankfully, it wasn't much of a wait because I was hungry. My food came out fresh and hot. Everything was really delicious. My only complaint was there were a few flies swarming around me, which made my dining experience less enjoyable. I spent most of my time trying to swat them away. The bartender even moved me to another spot, but they still followed me. While I really enjoyed my food and the service, it might be a good idea for them to invest in small table fans to keep the flies away. Otherwise, my food was tasty, and the service was great! read more

We all had different breakfast items and everyone was happy with their choices. I had the eggs Benedict with crab and loved it. The menu has an eclectic mix of items and plenty of drink options too. Service was good, our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. Prices were reasonable. The parking lot was limited but they did have additional parking a short walk away. I would eat here again! read more

The Shanty is a quant restaurant (and good sized bar) serving up unique twists on some tasty comfort food. The TV dinner, which changes seasonally, is certainly playful, and the Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, maple carrots, apple crumble, etc. was a hit. The fish and chips, fried chicken sandwich, and burger were all somewhat predictable, but they were also all well executed. The thick beef patty had all the expected accoutrements, the fish was tender and flavorfully battered, and the rustic cut fries appeared hand cut. My son loves tartar sauce, but didn't care for their version, which contains artichokes. Our server steered us toward the comfort food, rather than the salmon or statler chicken we were eyeing. She was attentive, but relaxed, and cinnamon sugar rimmed beer added to the warm vibe! read more

* Big Ole Burger add avocado, bacon, egg * Cod fried * Big Ole Burger no sauce, no tomato * Tater tots * Fries The service was really good. The cod had a watery outside that made its inside kind of soggy which was weird cuz it was so crispy on outside. They don't have cocktail sauce. The tartar was good. I sent back the sandwich and got the burger. Super solid quality beef and good pickles. Also the onion was grilled which is new without having to ask. Also they don't load the burger down with lettuce. I like. My husband devoured his burger before I even blinked he added egg and avocado and bacon I think lol Cute place with some outdoor seating. Seems really busy around brunch but they were attentive and the was a midsized parking situation available. read more

My dad has always raved about this place. I think it was alright. Service was casual, not really necessarily friendly, in my experience. My dad had a salmon dish I didn't get to try but it looked crispy and delicious. I was not too peckish so I ordered calamari & caesar salad for my meal. I had a diet coke + lime. The lime was rotting brown and gross so I just put it on the table. Small things matter. Calamari was okay but chewy and after it cooled a bit, it was incredibly tough and inedible. Caesar was dressed well and chopped finely which I always loooove. I wish it had anchovies! Next time I check this place out, if I do, I think I will try brunch because I have heard nice things about it. read more

The Shanty was a great stop with delicious food and genuinely friendly staff. Everything came out fresh, well prepared, and full of flavor, and the service stayed attentive without feeling rushed. The bar had a lively neighborhood atmosphere, complete with a few regulars trading playful gossip about who really keeps the place running and who has the most dramatic shift stories. Nothing sounded serious--just the kind of harmless chatter that makes sitting at the bar entertaining. Between the welcoming service, comfortable atmosphere, tasty meal, and unexpected dose of local comedy, I would happily come back for another visit again. read more

OMG.... Delicious brunch with all the trimmings. Great drinks and the Bloody Mary's are almost a meal! Such creative entrees, lots of Mexican leaning offerings and quite a few GF options. I had eggs Benedict with rock crab that was yummy, my hubby's cod was the biggest serving I've ever seen and the tartar sauce has no relish but minced artichoke which was amazing. We left FULL and very Happy. read more

the food was terrible would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The scallops were old we could smell them, the steak sandwich was overcooked, the French onion soup was very salty and no cheese the only thing we enjoyed was the Asian chicken wings but they were also very salty my pasta dish was cold and tasteless the lobster roll was good and the wait staff was very nice and attentive - fix the food read more

So I am in the industry and was searching for a local place to make a regular spot. What a beautiful place. I think I may have found it. Came in and was immediately greeted by Sergio and Kaylee. The informed me that I made it in time for 1/2 off apps. The buffalo wings were amazing! Sauced perfectly with a nice crunch because I asked for them well done and they definitely made them perfectly for me! I ordered the NY strip and informed the dynamic duo of my mushroom allergy, they were kind enough to let me substitute the risotto for the Mac and cheese. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the Mac and cheese had a breadcrumb topping and was phenomenal. I enjoyed a few drinks, my favorite was made by Kaylee, it was the cherry limeade mule, beautiful presentation and such a great taste. To finish the night Sergio informed me that the desserts are made in house, I had the espresso cheesecake. Let me tell you I was happy Sergio suggested it, the dynamic duo almost had to wheel me out tonight. I can't wait to see what's on the menu next Monday! read more

My girlfriends and I wanted to celebrate my birthday at a new place and heard the Shanty had amazing food and service... as we waited for the rest of our party two of us sat at the bar and instantly felt comfortable as Kaylee greeted us we had an amazing espresso martini which was amazing as the rest of our party joined us we went to the table and our waitress was Karen as she introduced herself and left my party instantly commented that she was cold and felt we were a bother The appetizers we amazing the chef is top notch as she told us the specials I asked her what was better the sirloin or the strip and she said it's the same cut of meat I said no it's not she continued to say it was I proceeded to not argue as I know it isn't the same cut because the strip is tender and fattier and a sirloin is a more lean cut and they come from two different parts of the cow . We are in the business but go out a lot and love experience of new trendy places and we actually felt very uncomfortable by karens "hospitality ". I spoke to Kaylee again before I left and didn't realize she was also a supervisor. She was so warm and we felt so welcomed and also noticed that Karen was more invested in talking to customers at other tables and the bar than our table was off putting. But the chef produces the most amazing flavor profiles and you can tell that they are passionate about what they bring and put on every single plate. read more

Stopped in here while in Warwick for a quick bite to eat. Pleasantly surprised when opening the door to go inside. A nice big open bar, totally expected a place with just tables! Small outdoor seating as you come across the parking lot ! Looked cute and well covered. We stopped for something small and a drink on a Sunday . Nice brunch style breakfast and lunch menu. We had a few draft beers, the yam fries and soy wings. The yam fries came with a tasty aïoli sauce for dipping. The fries themselves were bland , fried with skins still attached, I had to peel the skins off so I could bite into the fries . A little over seasoned . The wings were crispy, and nicely cooked but too salty for my taste. Had a nice stop . If you are looking for a decent bite , it was what we were lookng for. read more

Chose this place for their lobster roll, which did not disappoint! It was full of tender, sweet lobster meat that was perfectly accented with lemon, celery, and a touch of dill on a toasted brioche bun. The accompanying fries seemed housemade, with the skin still on. My coworker tried the skirt steak with asparagus risotto, which he really enjoyed. The cinnamon blondie was dense and buttery, not too sweet but too rich for me to finish. The ambience is relaxed and cozy, a nice place to hang out except the hard wood bench seats at the booth tables were not very comfortable. Overall a nice meal to start off our RI visit. read more

Today I ordered Sweet soy Korean wings AND Korean lettuce wrap! The small plates were such excellent serving sizes for me, personally ~ the sweet soy wings were sweet and juicy, with a good crunch! They were a solid choice and I'd it a 3.5 out of 5~ the Korean lettuce wraps were delicious! They have great apple slices and the beef was savory! I like ordering interesting cocktails and I got the Tea & Peaches drink, and I can guarantee it was strong~~ worth the cost~ The waitress was kind and the food was a bit of a wait. Seating was provided in the outdoor setting because the wait was bit long for an inside table. My table was wobbly but clean and looked nice. The area is small but pleasant for the good weather season. Service was a bit slow because it's out of the way for waitresses~ read more

Rating: 4 I've been meaning to try this place for a while and gave it a try. The place is medium sized Korean American fusion restaurant bar with optional outdoor seating. We were sat down quickly due to open outdoor seating. We ordered sweet soy fried chicken wings, bacon and Brussels salad, and Korean beef lettuce wrap. Sweet soy chicken wing was crispy, savory and juicy. It was a bit on the sweeter side. Korean beef lettuce wrap was refreshing and flavorful. Apple slices were a nice touch. Bacon and Brussels salad was okay. I felt that dressing and goat cheese was overwhelming and could not taste the flavor of Brussel sprouts and bacon. Overall the place was good and service was decent. If I were to try again I would definitely try other dishes they offer. However I felt that food and portion did not justify their prices. Definitely on more expensive side and I know some places that offer similar dishes at better quality and prices. read more

From start to finish, dinner at The Shanty was an absolute delight. Every dish felt and tasted like true bistro-quality--elevated, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent: warm, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. The space itself is clean, charming, and inviting--just the right balance of casual and classy. You can tell there's care behind everything they do here. It completely exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend and I went to the Shanty for the first time and it started off with an hour wait so we sat at the bar and got seated faster. The restaurant is very tight and narrow. We were freezing because we were so close to the door. We got sweet soy wings, Caesar salad, a chicken sandwich, and a big ole burger. The food was mediocre, nothing really stood out. The wings were extremely sweet - the sweetness actually over powered the wings. The hand cut fries were the best thing on the menu. I was disappointed because it was not worth an hour wait. The parking lot was also extremely small. We had to park at the laundromat and walk over. read more

As of the time of writing, The Shanty has a 4.5 star with 686 reviews on Yelp, so you honestly don't need to read much more. This place is poppin' and busy for a reason. We came here for a Sunday brunch. The parking lot was small and packed, and there is an adjacent lot their signage points you to if it's completely full. The menu is kind of small and I like that. Small menus reduce "analysis paralysis". The alcohol menu leans more towards wine than beer, with multiple choices for alcoholic coffees. We ordered the Lobster Roll and the Eggs Benedict ... ...with Lobster, lol. A long time ago, I read something somewhere online about how the lobster rolls are really good at the Shanty and I bookmarked this place with a note "lobster roll", and so finally we found ourselves here. Anyways, both are delicious. The lobster roll was on burger buns with some slaw and sauce. The eggs benedict: lobster works very well with the gooey egg yolk and cheese and biscuit. We felt that both portions of lobster meat were very good, and enjoyed the quality of it-- not too fishy. I also think I prefer eating lobster on a burger roll than the usual long sub rolls that they are found on. For drinks we got two of their boozy coffee cocktails. I think they are ok (3/5). The alcohol wasn't overwhelming, but it was still strong tasting. Customer service was good! All in all, a good experience! read more
