Amazing dinner and drinks tonight at Standards! I can't believe it was our first time dining there. The owners are brothers with a passion for fresh ingredients and awesome service. Kelly our bartender made probably the best spicy mango margarita I've ever had and my husband was thrilled they had delicious blue cheese stuffed olives for his dirty martini. We had the focaccia with a fresh herb garlic dipping oil and I had the cauliflower app and the lobster bisque. I'll share a picture!! It was so delicious with a whole lobster tail in it. My husband had the scallops with risotto. He said it was amazing and so fresh! The kitchen is open till 10. Perfect for when we are getting off the boat late. We will be back for sure. In 2026 it's peculiar that a restaurant wouldn't offer one vegan entree. Even the Narragansett Cafe does this. Also proudly frying in beef tallow is just weird. Seed oils, while not ideal, are not as unhealthy as beef tallow. Yes, some people are keto or whatever..... but it's not a healthy sustainable lifestyle. Move in to the new millennium, or at least offer 1 item that caters to people who are. read more

This was an exceptionally bad night for the Standard. Only reason for two stars was that the receptionist did everything she could to help us. We had a take away order. First the online ordering menu was wrong which caused last minute changes when we arrived to pick up the food. Next you could tell the chef was overloaded but more importantly he didn't seem to care about food quality. The food was burnt and soggy. Couldn't eat it. Maybe chalk this up to a really bad night. Stopped by for a quick bite over Fourth of July weekend--this was the only place we could snag a reservation. The ambiance inside was nice. This place is so special! What the owner is doing here is admirable! We drive 2.5 hours to visit from NH. We love the area and we were so pleasantly surprised to find this gem. Clean eating! In a very clean and comfortable space. We don't normally go out to eat because we avoid many ingredients that the majority of restaurants use , so this is a real treat for us all! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner on this trip, and he shared his journey and desire to keep the food clean. He was so kind and welcoming! This is such a great restaurant settled among a charming street in Jamestown. Only a few miles from Beavertail State Park and lighthouse, this was the perfect place to stop for dinner after an afternoon of exploring. The area is a bit contested, which is to be expected due to it still being the end of summer and tourists getting in their last vacations, so street parking might be difficult (but is free if you manage to snag a spot). There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant, though it shares some of its spots with a neighboring business (those spots are marked with reserved signs). The waitstaff is great! Our waitress took our orders promptly and made sure to check in on us periodically, both before and after our food arrived. Despite how busy the restaurant was at the time, our food came out fairly quickly and was nice and hot. Our party had burgers (Southern RI BBQ Burger & the Standard Burger with fried egg) and the hot lobster roll. The burgers were not only huge, they were also juicy and cooked to perfection. Those that had the hot lobster roll said it was great, fresh caught lobster. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town! read more

With zero seed oils and no artificial ingredients in their kitchen, the tallow-fried wings and fries felt like an invigorating throwback. The steak frites and cookies also rocked hard. I ordered the fig jam pizza for takeout and was surprised at how tasty it was. What an awesome restaurant. The inside is very nice. It's just up the street from the water. The wait staff is fantastic and the kitchen is even better. Hands down the best restaurant during our week in Newport. If I could give it more stars I would. The Cesar salad was excellent. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever had anywhere. Very expensive at $32, but was incredible and comes with an entire lobster tail. The pizza was great, the lobster roll was the best one in RI, and the mushroom risotto was perfect. Our meal and service last night were mediocre at best. We ordered a beer as soon as we were seated, and it took 40 minutes to get delivered. The restaurant was busy but 40 minutes for a beer is unacceptable. We ordered the wings and asked for them to be grilled instead of fried which we appreciated in the hopes they would not be as greasy. The flavor was great (garlic parmesan) however they were dripping in grease. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza with their house made hot honey. The flavor was great however the crust was soggy. It wasn't undercooked but it must have sat on the metal serving tray too long making the crust seem undercooked, wet and soggy. The ambiance was great but unfortunately our meal was not. read more

The ambiance is very nice, looks very promising when you walk in. Great location too. However, experience was incredibly disappointing. The server was very nice, however it took over 30 mins to receive a single app (which was their cucumber trio - a cold dish). Supposed to be served with herbs, mustard seeds, and a coconut dressing. Sounded really nice, however, execution was poor. Didn't get any of the coconut flavor or herbs, so it was basically just eating a thinly sliced cucumber. Meal was chicken wings served with their mole sauce and a mushroom pizza. Same story, took another 30 mins to receive those dishes as well - then, when received, subpar is an understatement. The mole, which is a very underrated sauce, had way too much heat - overpowered the whole dish. The wings were rubbery as well and lacked any general seasoning. The pizza had no flavor, basically eating dough (which, in fairness, was cooked well). Unfortunately, it was served it with unseasoned mushrooms and raw red onions. Not exactly a dazzling duo. Sautéing both of them in a pan with some seasoning would have helped. Sadly, I'm not even mentioning that these items combined to cost +$50 or that part of the delay was our ticket somehow being lost. Which, now I can say is not surprising considering that we witnessed the chef taking a phone call while cooking. Fantastic new spot in Jamestown! We went for an early dinner which explains my noise level rating of low. There weren't many people at 445pm. Beautifully designed inside with choice of bar, high top or regular table seating. We chose a high top by the bar. Service was great and all the food we tried was delicious. Drinks are a little pricey but delicious which makes it worth it. I had the "raise your standards" which resembles a mango margarita. Very good. We shared the smash burger and hot honey pepperoni pizza. All delicious. Then came dessert. DO NOT skip the chocolate chip cookies! So good and perfect ending to our meal. Staff was great-the food, not so much. I ordered the chicken pot pie for $28. It was a can of cream of chicken soup (minus the chicken) served in a ceramic casserole dish with a small amount of undercooked puffed pastry off to one side. Disappointed and felt ripped off by the time I left. Too bad, the staff was very courteous and professional and kind and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. This was very close to being a 5. Great venue on the inside and service was great, seems like they employ all HS/college kids but they were professional. BBQ burger was amazing (loved the thick cut bacon), and it would've been a 5 if the buns were better. Buns were either stale or naturally hard. Find a better bun source and this is one of the best burgers in the area. Only other complaint is that the soft drink refills aren't free. If I'm paying $30 for a burger and fries and $4 for a soda, I think there should be free refills. Or at least tell me they aren't free. The decor and atmosphere gets a 10! They paid attention to every detail. Sat at the bar and the bartender immediately greeted us and was prompt with water and our drink order. Food came out on time and it was delicious. Appreciate the limited menu out of the gate and look forward to the extended menu. Upon receipt, pizzas were undercooked and had to put them on the grill when we got home and add hot honey since we could not taste any.
