    Our midday Oysters and cocktails
    Andrew B.

We ate here twice in one day. First my wife and I dropped in simply because it was close to the harbor, where we stopped after touring Beavertail State Park. The harbor and adjacent beach offer views of the toll bridge that traverses the passage between Jamestown and Newport. Little did we know Beech would impress to the point of coming back that evening with 3 other adults and a toddler for dinner. In the early afternoon we ordered a couple of excellent cocktails, a half-dozen oysters, properly dressed with a side of lemon, mignonette, and horseradish spiked cocktail sauce, along with a Caesar salad with shrimp. All were so good we ordered another half-dozen oysters and a single additional cocktail that we shared. At dinner we were further impressed with assorted appetizers, which included more oysters, the fried calamari, and the sticky ribs, which are fantastic and a must to order. Main courses included the Beech Burger made of a blend of short ribs and brisket (this is no ordinary burger, which is accompanied by an excellent side of fries, and is highly recommended), the Atlantic Salmon, and the Fish & Chips. More cocktails were also sampled. Everything that was brought to our table was excellent and served with efficiency and friendliness. The location is within a block of the harbor, with some tables having partial views of it. We were pleased with our seatings and service at both our meals.

We went here around 8 pm. It was very busy but not crowded. We didn't know that we were supposed to make a reservation but the hostess was very sweet and she still gave us a table. Due to the classy upscale vibe of the restaurant we felt very out of place, but the waiter and other patrons made us feel very welcomed. Our appetizers and food came out quickly. I was disappointed that they didn't have sweet tea, but I guess that only a southern thing. All of the food was amazing and our portions were bigger than I expected. I would definitely come back again

We were visiting the area and walked by this very unique looking restaurant and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was Top Notch but not overly priced. We tried their highly recommended chicken sandwich and were not disappointed. The food came out quickly and our servers were all very friendly. They have a very nice outdoor area that has covered seating along with an outdoor bar area. Just be advised the kitchen does close every afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30.

First time to Jamestown and Beech and had the best time! Beech is a cool restaurant with multiple levels, we sat at the bar upstairs and our bartender,Rich, was awesome! Ordered beef carpaccio, calamari and the Bibb salad, all delicious. Great service and great food with a beautiful breeze, can't wait to go back!

I went in for a 7:45 reservation on a Saturday night. It was tough to find parking, but we finally did get a spot in the parking lot. We sat at a small table for four. We ordered Poutine and Calamari to share. Hailey was our waitress and she was very attentive and knowledgeable. The Poutine was really good and very filling. The cheese and gravy was fantastic. The Calamari was good, but I would get another app next time around. The sticky ribs were absolutely amazing...highly recommended! We were filled up on the appetizers so I didn't get to order what I really wanted, which was the whole fried red snapper that was today's special. We ordered Gemelli (pasta and chicken dish) to split. It was very good, the chicken was tender and juicy and the flavors from the bacon, cream sauce and butter melded perfectly to the pasta dish. Every dish that came out looked great. I really don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. Great restaurant and great atmosphere.

Having watched a few iterations of this hometown establishment come & go, it's nice to see a well-developed concept settled in to this spot. The design & decor is tasteful & modern. The music was at a comfortable volume - Lots of Steely Dan & Van Morrison the night we were there. Nice. I made note of a beautiful, long, & wooden high-top table on the porch that could seat maybe around 12 people. This would be a great spot to dine out with a large group. Our server was friendly & efficient. She handled our multiple food allergies & intolerances with ease, double checking in with the kitchen when necessary to ensure that everything we ordered was safe for us to eat. I ordered the blackened swordfish which came with roasted tomato pilaf, spinach, & mango relish. It was phenomenal. A perfect late summer dish. I also had the specialty paloma with ghost pepper, but that was a bit underwhelming. My dad had the "simply grilled" salmon with basmati rice & substituted green beans, since he couldn't have some of the vegetables that it normally is served with. I tried a bite of the salmon & it was decent. The green beans were totally disappointing, especially since it's green bean season. They were wicked bland. Lastly, the bathroom needs some TLC. It was clean, but needed general maintenance. Screws tightened, tiles secured, etc. Easy fix.

My husband and I hosted a Rehearsal dinner for our son and his fiancé last night. It was amazing. The food was outstanding. The Ambiance was over the top. We rented the Tree House on the second floor. It was a beautiful night and all the window and doors were open out to the terrace. Staff was EXCEPTIONAL (Natalie, Marion, Olivia & Rich). Thank you all. You made the experience perfect. We couldn't have imagined how magnificent the night would be - we will remember it always! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

    Swordfish over rice and vegetables

Stumbled upon this place after we got off the Newport Jamestown ferry - if you use your ticket you get a free desert btw! Very cool rustic modern place with 3 levels including a huge outdoor bar. Sat at the bar, the bartenders were great and very chill - food came out quick and was excellent. The burrata was thick and creamy over a bed of tossed extremely fresh and crispy salad. I got the swordfish over rice and my wife got the chicken Sandwich. After a couple bites of hers - that was easily the greatest chicken Sandwhich I put in my mouth in years. Came with thick cut bacon and the Alabama white sauce was equally as amazing. The swordfish was a nice 8-10oz steak charred and seasoned perfectly over a nice bed of rice and vegetables. Topped it off with a thick and dense slide of bread puddling - if you put that in your mouth you will definitely enjoy it!

There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit. Will definitely come back to Stingy Alley - thanks for a lovely end to our night!

Upon entrance is a doorman who is so friendly and accommodating! He found us an open table and checked on us throughout the night. The place was packed and they only had maybe 5 or 6 employees so the service was a little slow but understandable. I think the longest wait was about 20 minutes when we were waiting to get our initial drink order taken, but everything after that was fairly quick. For drinks I got a thin mint martini because they were out of the chocolate reuge martini I wanted. It was so yummy and came with 3 thin mint cookies. My mom got a pistachio martini and the Jefferson Tea. Both were pretty good but I wouldn't order again. My dad got Dead Mans Redemption which is good if you like bourbon. It comes with a wood topper and they light it on fire, let smoke fill in the drink, and then take the wood off. The drink then has notes of smoked wood in it which is cool. For food we got the crispy spring rolls and pepperoni flatbread. Both were so good!!!! It was absolutely worth the wait!!! I could eat the whole flatbread myself it was that good and I can't wait to go back and get another one. The crowd is definitely much older, not a lot of younger people around. There are one or two restaurants that are passable for the area and would probably be a solid 3-3.5 out of 5. This place is a 5 out of 5. This place could be a 6 out of 5 compared to my local restaurants. And believe me, I took nearly two years of Spanish in high school, so I know a thing or two about a thing or two. I ordered fish tacos and my wife ordered the enchiladas verde (green) as takeout. When I got to the restaurant, I was greeted by three (tres) lads whereby one of them promptly handed me my order. When I pulled the food out of the bag back at the hotel, I was greeted with an absolute masterpiece of culinary art, the fish tacos. The red cabbage slaw covering the tacos, mixed with the sauce was beautiful (bonita) and vibrant. The enchiladas verde looked just as good, but were less vibrant in presentation. It seemed like the chefs cared about the product they were serving to their customers. The rice that came with the enchiladas had a great consistency and not dry at all - I can't stand dry rice. My wife said the enchiladas themselves were flavorful and seasoned very well and not the "suburban white lady" kind of seasoning. However, she doesn't write the reviews - I do - so I will talk about the fish tacos. There were three of them and I got them made with the corn tortillas (tortillas). Any fish taco I have ever had has always been small nuggets of fish smattered through the taco. These bad boys were absolute units where the entire bottom of the taco was one large fried piece of haddock, covered in a somewhat tangy sauce, and topped with red cabbage. The sauce and red cabbage made for a bit of a messy meal, so be prepared to get your hands dirty if you order this. I would not recommend getting these (or the enchiladas) if you had to drive down US Route 1 at the apparent local speed limit of 75 miles per hour and expected to just chow on some tacos while doing so. By the way,, what's with that, RI drivers? It's not the Autobahn. I had a RideOn bus 5 ft from my bumper while doing 70 on there yesterday. Calm down (or should I say 'clam down', amirite?). Anyway, this food was very good and next time I am in town, I would like to go there and sit down to eat while trying to ignore the fact that half the people around me here sound like Peter Griffin.
