We are here from out of town. From a faraway place where a majority of the population would prefer to have everyone who speaks Spanish (that they don't personally know) thrown into concentration camps simply for existing, so the choices of this style of food there are thin, at best. There are one or two restaurants that are passable for the area and would probably be a solid 3-3.5 out of 5. This place is a 5 out of 5. This place could be a 6 out of 5 compared to my local restaurants. And believe me, I took nearly two years of Spanish in high school, so I know a thing or two about a thing or two. I ordered fish tacos and my wife ordered the enchiladas verde (green) as takeout. When I got to the restaurant, I was greeted by three (tres) lads whereby one of them promptly handed me my order. When I pulled the food out of the bag back at the hotel, I was greeted with an absolute masterpiece of culinary art, the fish tacos. The red cabbage slaw covering the tacos, mixed with the sauce was beautiful (bonita) and vibrant. The enchiladas verde looked just as good, but were less vibrant in presentation. It seemed like the chefs cared about the product they were serving to their customers. The rice that came with the enchiladas had a great consistency and not dry at all - I can't stand dry rice. My wife said the enchiladas themselves were flavorful and seasoned very well and not the "suburban white lady" kind of seasoning. However, she doesn't write the reviews - I do - so I will talk about the fish tacos. There were three of them and I got them made with the corn tortillas (tortillas). Any fish taco I have ever had has always been small nuggets of fish smattered through the taco. These bad boys were absolute units where the entire bottom of the taco was one large fried piece of haddock, covered in a somewhat tangy sauce, and topped with red cabbage. The sauce and red cabbage made for a bit of a messy meal, so be prepared to get your hands dirty if you order this. I would not recommend getting these (or the enchiladas) if you had to drive down US Route 1 at the apparent local speed limit of 75 miles per hour and expected to just chow on some tacos while doing so. By the way,, what's with that, RI drivers? It's not the Autobahn. I had a RideOn bus 5 ft from my bumper while doing 70 on there yesterday. Calm down (or should I say 'clam down', amirite?). Anyway, this food was very good and next time I am in town, I would like to go there and sit down to eat while trying to ignore the fact that half the people around me here sound like Peter Griffin. read more

I understand that it is tourist season in Narragansett but Agave Social could have been so much better. The drinks were good (except the waiter told my partner that the drink he asked about wasn't sweet and it was VERY sweet) but that may have been a language barrier so no worries. The appetizers were GOOD -- we had the flautas (delicious) and the street corn (yummy and served in a way that's easy to share). But the main dishes were pretty BAD - two of us had barbacoa -- which came out with such a salty sauce that they were literally unedible. We asked the manager and waiter for something else and ordered Carne Asada which was like shoe leather. We both left most of it on the plate and the manager and the waiter completely ignored us. Sad, as I have had good things there. Maybe once the tourists leave it will be good again but doubt that we will be back. read more

The second you walk in the door, you feel like you're in some chic city. The decor is so awesome so many vibrant colors and greenery. The staff was welcome and courteous. I ordered the fish tacos you can have them fried or grilled. They were delicious. Also had the birds tacos also delicious. We also ordered their basic guacamole. You can get it with ribeye or street corn. I was a little disappointed, the guacamole it was very lackluster no seasoning or anything in it just avocado with lemon don't get me wrong. It was delicious but it definitely was missing a little something next time. I'll definitely try it with the street corn. The margaritas were in my opinion perfectly made. Five plus stars all around. We started with tall, tasty Lalo Spritzers and tuna tostada (2). The drinks are delicious and the fresh tuna topped with the freshest guacamole and salsa macha on crispy tostadas was so good. We had two orders of tacos on corn tortillas, one shrimp and one fish. Both cooked perfectly. Our server, Carlos, was the best! He's personable, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The interior is welcoming, and the atmosphere fun. My husband and I are in Rhode Island this week visiting family and attending a wedding. We were looking for a tasty place nearby our hotel and found this place, I think either on Google Maps or on Yelp. It lives up to its 4.6-star average review, as everything was very good! We started off with drinks, I had the horchata because I'm pregnant and my husband had a guava margarita. I ordered the asada tacos after seeing a picture of it here on Yelp, and they were excellent. They had nice large pieces of steak in it as well as onions and cilantro and some sort of aioli on top. My husband ordered the Mole Colorado and enjoyed that as well. He also had a mezcal negroni, which he liked, and I knew before even coming to the restaurant that I wanted to try its tres leches cake. It's a lot larger looking than it looked in pictures and it was delicious. This place isn't inexpensive, with tip it was about $115 (for two entrees, two cocktails, the horchata, and dessert), but the food was very high quality and I would say it was worth it. Agave Social is a Mexican restaurant located in the Pier Marketplace in Narragansett. The restaurant, immaculate and with beautiful decor, has a nice outdoor patio, which my dining companion and I enjoyed yesterday. Our server was pleasant and attentive. I just wish the food was better. My friend enjoyed her guava Margarita ($14), but I found it too sweet. We both LOVED the street corn appetizer ($10) which was by far the best dish of the evening. I was disappointed, however, that this restaurant doesn't offer chips and salsa. We chose to split an order of enchiladas but, again, I was disappointed that they didn't offer a red sauce, only mole' or green chilies. At our server's recommendation, we order the enchiladas with mole' sauce ($21). We received 3 chicken filled enchiladas with a small side of rice. I found the mole' sauce to be heavy and bitter, so added an order of grilled fish tacos (3 for $17). The tacos were fine; pretty standard Mexican restaurant fare. I wish this place was closer to me because I would be going all the time, but I would definitely come back here again. This was my first time trying this spot and I also think it's relatively new (opened a year ish ago). I love the upscale vibe inside, there's plenty of seating but definitely make a reservation especially on the weekend. This was my first time getting birria tacos and I literally have not stopped thinking about them. They were SO delicious and came with 3 flavorful and stuffed tacos. Also got a spritz drink (aperol spritz) and asked for it to be made with vodka instead of tequila. They accidentally made it with tequila but fixed it for us once we pointed it out. Dived into all of our food before getting pics but wow this place was so good!!! Chicken enchiladas verde - per hubby: "oh yeah. super good" he inhaled them! Birria tacos - rich and amazing flavor! A tad greasy but honestly no complaints about it! Apps: guac and street corn were great! For the kids we got sides of steak, rice, and beans. Kids devoured! Went on a Friday after work for dinner with my partner. I had the most delicious spicy margarita and we got the fresh guacamole with street corn as an appetizer. I ordered the birria tacos and my partner got the carnitas. Entrees were out in about 10 minutes. Birria tacos were flavorful and the carnitas were cooked perfectly, not too dry or moist. The star of the show was chile rellenos. So tender, flavorful. Stuffed with melted cheese and shrimp. Best I've ever had. Cocktails were enjoyed too - Paloma, guava margarita and coconut anejo drink. I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Our friends recommended it. I was a little skeptical as the menu wasn't very big. I was a little confused about what to order, but the menu is pretty shareable. The salsa flight was awesome. There were 6 salsas to try with four tortillas. You break the tortillas yourself, it gives Catholic Mass vibes. I had the tuna tostadas which is listed as an app, it was perfect for one person to eat. Good spot, I hope they succeed and stick around. There hasn't been good Mexican food in the area in long time so this place is a breath of fresh air. The food is fresh, great quality, and prepared well. The drinks are good too. There are a few little quirks I don't like. For example there are some add ons to the guacamole (corn or steak) for like $3/4. We added corn for like $3 and there was like 10 kernels of corn sprinkled on top of the guacamole. It felt like a rip off. Carne asada was extremely small especially considering the price. Nothing comes with a side, everything is a la cart basically another way to up charge. If you get tacos or a burrito it literally comes on a plate with nothing else, no rice or beans etc. overall the food is very good, I just don't love the execution. It is a weird feeling going out for a dinner for 2 and spending well over $100 on Mexican food. For the price I'd prefer to go somewhere more upscale but I think this place is a great place to grab a quick lunch. read more

The food here was a 10/10 slam dunk. My daughter got the Carne Asada and she loved it. I ordered the Branzino. It was phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned, crispy skin, light and flaky on the inside. The prices were very reasonable for exceptional quality of the food and considering the location. Our server was super kind and patient (we asked to move inside the restaurant after being outside for 10 minutes). The inside of the restaurant was beautiful. After an excellent first visit to Agave Social, we decided to return. I ordered the shrimp tacos, as I had done before. The tacos were served with the shrimp gray, half-cooked. I ate half the taco before I noticed. I spoke to the manager who told me that the shrimp was gray because they were served or cooked with red cabbage. I'm not a chef, but that doesn't sound right.
