My husband and I don't even debate where to eat anymore--we just look at each other and say "Purselane." Every single thing on the menu is consistently fantastic. The atmosphere is small, cozy, and fun, and the servers and waitstaff are always warm, friendly, and lovely to chat with. It's truly our go-to spot. They don't take reservations, but the wait is usually minimal, and the surrounding area is so charming that we happily put our name in and wander through nearby shops. One of the few South County restaurants that feels truly intentional, with a creative menu, high-quality ingredients, unfussy execution, and great vibes all around. The only minor consideration is the outdoor seating, which is a bit tight, so we usually opt to eat inside. Other than that, if we could eat here every night, we absolutely would. read more

Finally got around to trying Purslane and it lived up to the hype. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6, so that can certainly be a challenge. We ended up getting an outdoor table and luckily avoided any inclement weather. Our server was nice although she made a mistake and overcharged us for a dish they were sold out of (forgot to take it off the bill) but we were able to resolve it after the fact (had already paid the bill before realizing the error). The food was absolutely fantastic! I can see why it's such a popular spot. Everything we tried was well executed and creative. Tons of flavor in every bite. I definitely plan to return. read more

Let me lead with the only things we had for constructive feedback was that we wished the sandwich bun was a little larger to accommodate the chicken and toppings. WOULD NOT advocate for changing those sizes as those were perfect (please, just tweak the bun). We found Purslane to be, probably, our new favorite restaurant in Wakefield! The staff were very friends and accommodating. The drinks were creative and fun, and the food was overall unique, flavored well, and delicious. The environment is fun to sit in and watch. Whether inside the renovated, garage vibe with eclectic pieces hanging on the walls or people watching from the outside patio, a good spot to enjoy food and drink. I would say too, space can be tight, and wouldnt suggest it as a good option for large parties. read more

This place feels like going to your friends for dinner. The food is always quality specials depending on what local farmers bring by and they serve it til it runs out. Craft cocktails but the food is also crafted so perfectly. Instead of a huge menu of things done well they have a smaller menu of things done spectacularly. I went to Purslane on Mother's Day and they were slammed. The bartenders/servers were 100% overrun so service was not great. But I definitely chalk that up to them just being busier than they thought they would be. I was there around 3pm, so definitely took advantage of some of their "happy hour" specials. They have some great options including a fries and martini combo and 1/2 priced oysters. The kimchi mignonette they make is delicious, highly recommend. I also went with some tasty fries and their simple side salad. All delicious. The interior is so cute, with plants and decor all over. Tons of outdoor seating as well. I look forward to returning again when it's a bit less busy or at least more staff coverage. read more

Phenomenal dinner experience at Purslane on a Saturday evening! My husband and I were visiting the area for a night and decided to have dinner here, and we're so glad that we did. The ambiance is beautiful, so chic and elegant while being filled with plants and antiques and cozy details. Service was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the FOOD! We enjoyed the smoked bluefish dip and some fresh oysters as appetizers, and for our mains, I tried the sausage banh mi and my husband tried the labneh, poached eggs, and curried vegetables (we also split a side of fries). Everything was so flavorful and fresh, we enjoyed every bite. The cocktails are also very fun! I tried the Pirate Vibes (a take on a tiki drink), and my husband had a Tamarind Sour. Both were unique and delicious. We left with very happy stomachs, and should we ever find ourselves nearby again, we will 100% return! read more

My husband and I were in Wakefield and came across Purslane Eatery. According to the website, the creators of ButterHead food truck created Purslane Eatery. The food truck is parked out back and also serves food. There is a parking lot to the back for customers. We walked in and were seated at a table near the window. There are a few tables inside great for small or bigger groups and bar seating too. There is a lot of natural lighting and nice plants. We started with the Jungle Bird and Kentucky buck cocktails. The Jungle Bird has Jamaican Dark Rum, Campari, and Pineapple. The Kentucky buck was one of the specials for the Kentucky Derby. It had strawberry, lemonade, and Bourbon. Both of the drinks were very good. We had a lil' Rhody Stuffy that had Clams/Lemon/Ritz/Old Bay/Chorizo/Peppers/Onion/Garlic. This was a great appetizer. For entrees, we had the Banh Mi that had Pork sausage/cilantro/daikon/carrot/garlic aioli/sriracha, Kimchi Dog that had Saugy Hot Dog/Martins Roll/Chi Kitchen Kimchi/Garlic Aioli/Scallions, and large fries with ketchup. I've had come across Chi Kitchen Kimchi before in Farm Fresh RI and purchased a bottle of kimchi from them. It was a pleasant surprise to see them on the menu. The food had really good flavor and tasted delicious. It was very filling. We were able to see some sneak peaks of our food being prepared and cooked at the ButterHead food truck and then brought to Purslane by the waitress. Service was wonderful and friendly. Very cute, hip new eatery in Wakefield. It's tucked on the corner by the ice cream shop, but certainly worth the stop in. There was a nice selection of small plates, we had the asparagus (fantastic) and the blue fish dip. For our entrée, we each had grilled cheese, which was buttery and delicious. Currently is is a byob option, but I believe that will change in the future. I enjoyed my experience and will be back! read more

The food here is absolutely fire. It was a food truck that now has flourished into a lovely brick and mortar. Come early as it's fairly small and it fills up fast. They only take reservations for 6 or more. We ordered the tuna crudo, which was delicious. The labneh and herbs I could eat daily. We also got the three entrees at the time: the cavatelli, chicken Milanese, and steak frites. The pasta was cooked perfectly and tasted homemade. The chicken was yummy and so was the steak frites. I didn't absolutely love the sauce on the steak frites, but it was still decent. Honestly, that was the only thing that wasn't absolutely perfect. The drinks were delicious, especially the passion fruit cocktail and spicy maple margarita. We were soo stuffed that we didn't try dessert, but I know I will be back later in the summer to try them. read more

Food is heavenly, especially the purslane platter. If you're a lover of raw seafood then this is the spot for you! The platter is sheer perfection! Oh my! What a find. I love everything about this place. Food quality, menu, service, cocktails, and atmosphere. It hits on all stars. For lunch we had the frisée and delecata salad. It is outstanding. Smash burger and kimchi dog both left us wanting one more bite. Fries were also delish. The service is personal but not intrusive. The food, drink, service and vibes at Purslane are perfection! I love their tuna crudo or scallop, so refreshing and delicious. The Chicken Milanese is the dish of my dreams - I try not to get it every time but the salad is so crisp, flavorful and perfectly paired with the juicy and flaky cutlet. Their burger and sandwiches are also all incredible - even with a smaller, farm fresh menu there is truly an option for everyone. Their service is relaxed yet attentive. Always knowledgeable and excited about the food and drink menus. I've had some lovely meals served by Alana! The food is delicious. It was worth $6 for the side salad, which had shaved fennel and was well dressed. My bahn mi was a bit wet from the sauces, but full of flavor and the bread holds up well and doesn't get soggy. The interior is gorgeous, including their bathroom. Service was top notch. Beautiful space, excellent food and drinks, friendly people, not-great service. Advice: If you ordered several appetizers that are supposed to arrive at the same time and only one shows up, start asking questions immediately. If you want your entrees to arrive after you have finished your starters, don't order your entrees until you have at least started to eat your appetizers. We visit RI regularly, and finally made it to Purslane, and immediately loved it: what a lovely place! We ordered a mai tai and salad and cava and oysters, plus swordfish and pasta for entrees. Our server asked if we wanted all the apps together, and we said yes. The salad arrived, then a while later, the drinks, but getting the oysters took two requests. (Even if the restaurant thought we wanted them sequentially, I would think oysters followed by salad makes more sense.) After I finally got the oysters, I managed to eat three before our entrees were delivered. This was inconvenient, because aside from the fact that we wanted to finish our appetizers without worrying that our food was getting cold, it was a *very* small table. The waitress explained that the kitchen was very busy and therefore had to make our dinners too soon... Everything was delicious, though, so we'll probably go back. read more
