Purslane is a fantastic restaurant with really unique and tasty dishes. Lots of small plates to share, which is primarily what me and my friend did. We each had an orange wine and really enjoyed all of what we ordered! The tuna ceviche was soooo good and we got the focaccia bread as well, and the two paired quite nice together! Service was prompt -- we did wait 45 minutes to be sat on a Sunday after arriving around 6, but we walked around the area and explored Wakefield. The space inside is adorable. Great vibes, love the indoor/outdoor aesthetic, and all of the decor. Would definitely make the trip out there again! read more

Doing this again (3rd time) after having my prev 1star review taken down by the woke complainers: here's the honest review !! Me & my fiancé went there Sunday 9/6 around noon. We arrived six minutes early - 6!, but all the doors were open and staff were clearly getting things ready. We sat at the small bar and asked for Bloody Marys. To be fair, the husband-and-wife owners were very nice, hope the best for them. Unfortunately, our experience with their staff was completely different. It was awful. One young female employee (blonde) told us that we needed to leave & sit outside because it wasn't officially 12noon yet. We laughed it off as a joke and asked for some water while waiting the remaining six minutes. That request was declined, and we received several very unfriendly looks from the staff. What made the experience particularly frustrating was that shortly afterward & b4 noon, other customers who arrived (via Subaru) were seated and served while we continued to be ignored. Whether intentional or not, it left us feeling extremely unwelcome. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. The portions were small and, in our opinion, average & overpriced. Its a neat little space but the overall atmosphere felt like a place trying very hard to be upscale without delivering the food or service to match. I really want to like this place because the owners were pleasant, but the service completely overshadowed that. Not our 1st experiencing this. Hopefully management will take a closer look at the customer-service experience because there is significant room for improvement. read more

Wife and I have been coming here for two years now and have yet to have a bad meal. The food and service is always spot on. The space is cute and fun in the heat of the summer or the dead of the winter. The raw offers are always fantastic and their burger is once of my favorites. Need to knock off 1 star for 2 reason. First, the happy hour menu is inconsistent, sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. We took advantage of it a few months ago but it was missing last week. Second, and this is going to sound odd but their wait time is really inaccurate, usually you get a table much faster than they say. This is fine except we've come twice now and went next door to their sister restaurant for a cocktail while we wait and gotten the "your table is ready" halfway through a cocktail. Would be nice if you could defer to finish your drink rather than guzzle it down. Either way, we'll be back soon! read more

Holy cow. This place really lived up to the hype. Service, menu, taste...everything was fantastic. Sat outside with our pup. This place clearly gets busy quickly so glad we got there when we did. Got to enjoy the cocktail hour specials in addition to the regular menu. We tried a little of everything and everything was so delicious. There is still a ton more I want to come back to try. Martini and fries, dozen oysters, brussel sprouts, crudo, tofu bahn mi. Each of them was 10/10. Natural cut fries are my favorite and they were perfect. Brussel sprouts were rich and indulgent. The oysters came with lime and a kimchi mignionette. So fresh and unique. Crudo came with a decadent chili crisp. Flavorful and refreshing. The bahn mi looked pretty bland but was actually a delightful combination of flavors. We subbed the fries for a side salad and it was absolutely perfect. Plenty of street parking in Wakefield. Finally got to eat here! My friend and I had to wait a short bit for a table but nothing too crazy. Our server was great, she took great care of us. I asked if I could try an orange wine and no hesitation brought me over a sample. My friend and I split the tofu bahn mi and vegan hot dog. French fries were crispy and the sandwiches were good. My friend and I enjoyed our rose wine too (did not vibe which the orange wine!) Service was good and quick and I loved all of their plates and cups too!! read more

This is by far one of the best restaurants in Rhode Island and it's my top recommendation to locals and visitors. The food is consistently excellent, the drinks are creative and delicious and overall they focus on high quality, local ingredients. Over the years, in all the different places I've lived, I've had a favorite restaurant where I'd eventually become a regular. Purslane is that place for me after one amazing dinner a few weeks ago that I can't stop thinking about. The food is outstanding without being fussy. The service is warm without being too much. The space is beautifully decorated, and there's even coffee table photography books in the bathroom, like come on! Last but not least, they have the Champagne of Beers, so you know it's my jam. I only wish I lived closer but it's worth the drive and I'm looking forward to more memorable meals here. read more

I live nearby and have eaten here upwards of 8 times, never a dull meal or bad service. If anything, I'm upset that I can't hog it to myself during tourist season. Finally got around to trying Purslane and it lived up to the hype. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6, so that can certainly be a challenge. We ended up getting an outdoor table and luckily avoided any inclement weather. Our server was nice although she made a mistake and overcharged us for a dish they were sold out of (forgot to take it off the bill) but we were able to resolve it after the fact (had already paid the bill before realizing the error). The food was absolutely fantastic! I can see why it's such a popular spot. Everything we tried was well executed and creative. Tons of flavor in every bite. I definitely plan to return. read more

Let me lead with the only things we had for constructive feedback was that we wished the sandwich bun was a little larger to accommodate the chicken and toppings. WOULD NOT advocate for changing those sizes as those were perfect (please, just tweak the bun). We found Purslane to be, probably, our new favorite restaurant in Wakefield! The staff were very friends and accommodating. The drinks were creative and fun, and the food was overall unique, flavored well, and delicious. The environment is fun to sit in and watch. Whether inside the renovated, garage vibe with eclectic pieces hanging on the walls or people watching from the outside patio, a good spot to enjoy food and drink. I would say too, space can be tight, and wouldnt suggest it as a good option for large parties. read more

I went to Purslane on Mother's Day and they were slammed. The bartenders/servers were 100% overrun so service was not great. But I definitely chalk that up to them just being busier than they thought they would be. I was there around 3pm, so definitely took advantage of some of their "happy hour" specials. They have some great options including a fries and martini combo and 1/2 priced oysters. The kimchi mignonette they make is delicious, highly recommend. I also went with some tasty fries and their simple side salad. All delicious. The interior is so cute, with plants and decor all over. Tons of outdoor seating as well. I look forward to returning again when it's a bit less busy or at least more staff coverage. read more

Phenomenal dinner experience at Purslane on a Saturday evening! My husband and I were visiting the area for a night and decided to have dinner here, and we're so glad that we did. The ambiance is beautiful, so chic and elegant while being filled with plants and antiques and cozy details. Service was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the FOOD! We enjoyed the smoked bluefish dip and some fresh oysters as appetizers, and for our mains, I tried the sausage banh mi and my husband tried the labneh, poached eggs, and curried vegetables (we also split a side of fries). Everything was so flavorful and fresh, we enjoyed every bite. The cocktails are also very fun! I tried the Pirate Vibes (a take on a tiki drink), and my husband had a Tamarind Sour. Both were unique and delicious. We left with very happy stomachs, and should we ever find ourselves nearby again, we will 100% return! read more

Service is very slow and unfriendly. Prices are higher than expected for that location. Seating not particularly comfortable. Food was fair: a good smash burger but overly slabbed with yellow mustard (prefer toppings to be on the side) and Cacia de Pepe too al dente and very dry. My wife and two friends heard the food here was good, so we came for dinner. We were told a 1 hr wait. After 2 hours, the hostess said that she didn't want to initially quote us a 2-hr wait because she thought we might leave (???). We ended up leaving with no seats after 2.5 hours. My husband and I were in Wakefield and came across Purslane Eatery. According to the website, the creators of ButterHead food truck created Purslane Eatery. The food truck is parked out back and also serves food. There is a parking lot to the back for customers. We walked in and were seated at a table near the window. There are a few tables inside great for small or bigger groups and bar seating too. There is a lot of natural lighting and nice plants. We started with the Jungle Bird and Kentucky buck cocktails. The Jungle Bird has Jamaican Dark Rum, Campari, and Pineapple. The Kentucky buck was one of the specials for the Kentucky Derby. It had strawberry, lemonade, and Bourbon. Both of the drinks were very good. We had a lil' Rhody Stuffy that had Clams/Lemon/Ritz/Old Bay/Chorizo/Peppers/Onion/Garlic. This was a great appetizer. For entrees, we had the Banh Mi that had Pork sausage/cilantro/daikon/carrot/garlic aioli/sriracha, Kimchi Dog that had Saugy Hot Dog/Martins Roll/Chi Kitchen Kimchi/Garlic Aioli/Scallions, and large fries with ketchup. I've had come across Chi Kitchen Kimchi before in Farm Fresh RI and purchased a bottle of kimchi from them. It was a pleasant surprise to see them on the menu. The food had really good flavor and tasted delicious. It was very filling. We were able to see some sneak peaks of our food being prepared and cooked at the ButterHead food truck and then brought to Purslane by the waitress. Service was wonderful and friendly. The atmosphere is small, cozy, and fun, and the servers and waitstaff are always warm, friendly, and lovely to chat with. It's truly our go-to spot. They don't take reservations, but the wait is usually minimal, and the surrounding area is so charming that we happily put our name in and wander through nearby shops. One of the few South County restaurants that feels truly intentional, with a creative menu, high-quality ingredients, unfussy execution, and great vibes all around. The only minor consideration is the outdoor seating, which is a bit tight, so we usually opt to eat inside. Other than that, if we could eat here every night, we absolutely would. read more

Very cute, hip new eatery in Wakefield. It's tucked on the corner by the ice cream shop, but certainly worth the stop in. There was a nice selection of small plates, we had the asparagus (fantastic) and the blue fish dip. For our entrée, we each had grilled cheese, which was buttery and delicious. The food here is absolutely fire. It was a food truck that now has flourished into a lovely brick and mortar. Come early as it's fairly small and it fills up fast. They only take reservations for 6 or more. We ordered the tuna crudo, which was delicious. The labneh and herbs I could eat daily. We also got the three entrees at the time: the cavatelli, chicken Milanese, and steak frites. The pasta was cooked perfectly and tasted homemade. The chicken was yummy and so was the steak frites. I didn't absolutely love the sauce on the steak frites, but it was still decent. Honestly, that was the only thing that wasn't absolutely perfect. The drinks were delicious, especially the passion fruit cocktail and spicy maple margarita. We were soo stuffed that we didn't try dessert, but I know I will be back later in the summer to try them. read more

Quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! Food atmosphere and service are all pretty perfect! An adorable location, with tables, bar seating, and an awesome patio for the warmer months. Food is heavenly, especially the purslane platter. If you're a lover of raw seafood then this is the spot for you! The platter is sheer perfection! Having tried a few menu items outside of seafood, I can say that there really is something for everyone, and no one will walk away disappointed. Great find! I almost don't want to review and make this place popular but they so deserve it!!! Very friendly service, fabulous food and great ambiance. I had the smash burger and a side salad. Gourmet Big Mac is an understatement as so many flavors dripping down my fingers. My wife had salad with smoked salmon that was 10 out of 10.
