    Fish tacos

3.5 It's hard to rate this place definitively. The restaurant is located in the Pell Hotel, and unfortunately, we arrived after dark. The lighting inside was quite dim--probably for dinner--so we couldn't fully appreciate the ambiance. That said, the interior was very clean and sleek, which was a definite positive. Even though it was a weekday, I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was, especially given that it's considered one of the top-rated spots in the area. I understand it's a bit past peak season, but there were only four tables occupied and a few people at the bar. The service was a bright spot. Our server was friendly, and had a genuinely positive attitude. However, I couldn't rate the experience higher than a 3.5 because of the food. We ordered the Helmway chowder, hot honey flatbread, fish tacos, and scallops. On the positive side, the scallops were better than what I'd had at another restaurant recently. They were flavorful and cooked well. The noodle pairing, however, was a bit odd--kind of dry and clumped together, with little flavor. It may have needed more sauce. Still, the scallops were the main attraction and didn't disappoint. The fish tacos were also decent, but I wish they had more aioli or crema as it was a bit dry. On the critical side, the Helmway chowder was a letdown. I'm no expert in New England clam chowder, but it didn't seem homemade and tasted more like something you'd get from a supermarket, with maybe a few extra clams and a sprinkle of paprika added. The flatbread was also underwhelming--the texture felt off, possibly overcooked, and I could barely taste any hot honey. Maybe it was just an off day, and I hope that's the case.

During our 4 night stay in September, we enjoyed breakfast twice using our $15 daily dining credit. On the first morning my wife selected French toast - cinnamon swirl thick cut toast with a token amount of strawberries and apple butter. I chose the veggie omelet that came with a choice of toast (sourdough) and potatoes. Two mornings following we both enjoyed the Pell special - in our case easy over eggs, bacon and potatoes. Each dish was well executed and service pretty good given the fact that there were only 2 servers and the restaurant was quite busy.

We had globalist free breakfast here and i enjoyed it both days. It is simple and straightforward and nice. The brioche for the breakfast sandwich is yum and i liked how much cheese they give u w everything. The portions r nice and some might say on the small side but just right for me personally. They do def need at least one more person working weekends cuz i felt bad for how stretched thin everyone was, but the service was so kind !!!

    Miso Mahi

This review is only for a dinner seating. Friday night dinner came with live music (3 person jazz ensemble) in the adjoining bar. The bar had more activity than the dining area, and rightfully so. We ordered the Mahi Miso, Scallops, and for dessert we had Cinnamon Bread Pudding. The mahi was a little overcooked but not by much. But the fish didn't have a hint of miso flavoring, tasted more like it had a salty butter glaze. The scallops were cooked properly. But just like the miso mahi, there was a flavor mismatch. It was supposed to be lemon garlic but it had no hint of lemon or garlic. The cinnamon bread pudding was pretty decent. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with chocolate sauce and cinnamon powder. This was our favorite part of the meal. Waitress lacked polish but she got the job done. Like I mentioned, this is only a dinner review. Our breakfasts in this restaurant have been great.

Breakfast. Pell English muffin, French fries, bacon with over easy eggs. Side of vanilla yogurt with fruit and granola.

Their breakfast is delicious and relatively average price. My go to was the breakfast sandwich, but the other alternatives like the French Toast and breakfast burrito was equally good!

Friendly service in a fresh, modern space. Entrees are a bit pricey for the size of the dishes, but each bit of my pork chop was delicious. Steak seemed like it was refired after being sliced - maybe it came off too pink or timing was off? Not sure! Really tasty gin martini, absolutely would recommend! Beer list was inaccurate - three IPAs listed but only one was available. Also, it never makes sense to me when local beer served on draft is more expensive than its canned counterpart, particularly when it's something like a brewery's flagship recipe or an easy pale ale. Am excited to see this restaurant's team get some more water under the keel and really come together - I'll be back!

    Ravioli

overall, a pretty quiet place for a Friday night the service was good no complaints my main issues with the food. We got the Ravioli and Burger. Ravioli was solid at best. The filling was a little lackluster, and the pasta was a little overcooked. The sauce and the ravioli was a little bland and I felt like I could've gotten more pumpkin. In regards to the burger it was solid kind of seemed like a fast food burger that I'd get nothing really special or gourmet about it. I can say another positive was also the hot honey flatbread was pretty delicious. I don't think I would come back, but overall not a bad place and the service was friendly

Every time we come here the service is excellent and the food is amazing. This is what we come for right? Outstanding food and service! This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. The presentation is gorgeous too! Plating is also important and they nail it! Okay let's gooooo! Come join our dining experience! We tried a bit of everything! We loved every bit of it. I'll mention my faves but that doesn't take away how hard it was to choose a fave! Everything was DELICIOUS ! Raw bar: Jamestown oysters . We had 10. We can't get enough east coast oysters. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. It doesn't feel like you are eating carrots and regardless it's a very dressed up bougie delicious carrot plate ! Mmmm . One of my faves out of the snacks. 2. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. Food is beyond excellent and is a place you have to stop by and visit while in Newport.

We ordered a wide variety of dishes: crudité to start, followed by the lobster roll (both hot and cold), fish tacos, burrata LT, steak, and pasta. We loved every single bite. Multiple people in our group said the burrata LT was one of the best sandwiches they've ever had.The only miss was the lobster bisque special--it wasn't cream-based as we expected, so it wasn't to our taste. We finished with the basque cheesecake and keylime pie, both amazing. That said, this place is an absolute can't-miss when in Newport. We're so glad we chose to stay for a full meal instead of just stopping by for drinks.

The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Some things were instantly noted and addressed, others - well, there were big gaps of time between check-ins . . . and it wasn't an especially busy time. We began with crab cakes and a wedge salad. We split both so we could try each appetizer. I have to say that these crab cakes were amongst the best I have ever had. The Wedge salad was also very nicely prepared and very flavorful. The dinner rolls were also excellent. Many places forget this entirely these days. We ordered our entrees next. My wife ordered the filet medium rare, and I ordered the 2-pound baked stuffed lobster. We ordered a very nice half-bottle of Cabernet as well. The entrees were served, and my wife cut into the steak. It was way overcooked. The middle was medium well, and the ends were well done. We sent it back. These things happen, and we took it in stride. The problem that developed was time. After 10 minutes, we were told by our server that the new steak would be right out. Well, 5 minutes later, we heard the same thing from Matthew (the manager?). My entrée was getting cold, and I was getting a bit aggravated. I went to the bathroom. When I got back to the table, my wife had her new filet. She said that Matthew apologized profusely and told her that both entrees would be taken off the bill.
