    Monkfish Piccata

This review is a few months late, as I visited Hooked in September! My dad and I had a great meal here while in town for the Boat Show. The restaurant is nicely appointed and has free parking in a private lot. For years we've been eating at Scales and Shells, but the restaurant recently changed hands and chefs. Our favorite dishes were no longer on the menu! But we were happy to learn that the chef from Scales had relocated up the street, here at Hooked. The same great food in a different location! The monkfish piccata is one of my favorite meals I've ever had, and it's just as good here as it was at the old spot. I also enjoyed my martini and the complimentary focaccia bread was delicious. I'll look forward to coming back to Hooked next time I'm in Newport!

If you love seafood Hooked is well worth a try. No land loving animals at this restaurant. This is a strictly seafood fare. The location is a bit further from the center of town so give yourself a little bit more extra time to get here. They do have a decent sized on-site parking which is definitely a plus. We were promptly seated and ordered a bottle of wine. Prices for the bottles were very reasonable. They do have a full bar with all the necessary spirits. We ordered the mussel app, shrimp linguine, shrimp scampi, lobster roll, and fish and chips. The mussels with the red sauce was really great. Fresh, abundant, and the sauce was just downright tasty. The shrimp entrees were good albeit was maybe a tad bland. Fish and chips at this restaurant seemed more baked than fried. It actually seemed kind of healthy. My lobster roll was good buuuuuut sizing was very underwhelming. It may have been the smallest lobster roll I have had in Newport. Taste wise it was quite good. Very similar to the one thats served up at 2nd beach. Except they charge you $27 for 2 at the beach and here they charge you $35 for half that amount. Dont get the lobster roll here. My other issue was the plating. Its too plain jane. When you pay $30 to $40 for an entree you expect some feeling that you splurging a little bit. When you are served up dishes in a plain old Corning plate (I mean some Corning plates have more design than the plates at Hooked) the dish loses just a bit of initial appeal. Will I be back? I sure will. Service was great and I think the freshness of the seafood does win out. Happy dining folks.

Our first time here - they did a great job on the inside decor - very nautical and cozy - a small cute bar area too. Service was friendly and attentive! We enjoyed the bread service and drinks! The tuna was the favorite with our group! The Fra Diablo was huge but not spicy....for me, there was too much calamari! We will definitely come back - and nice to be a tad farther from crazy crowds! :)

Welcoming , cozy atmosphere. Staff was warm and attentive. Tara was our server and she was amazing, made our experience fun and memorable. Food was very tasty it is a bit pricey but it's lobster I had lobster linguini and it's a very large serving with the entire lobster so be ready to chow down, if you're not too hungry then you should share. Drinks were good. Note, this is not on the water but close to the marina

This restaurant is awesome! It has more bar seating serving the full menu than anywhere I've ever been. And we all love sitting at the bar! Our meals were fantastic. You've gotta try the meatball! It's cooked perfectly and the size of a bocce ball! We'll be back this summer to eat out on the patio!

    Oysters!

We made dinner reservations for two for our first time here. Glad we did! Seated on time, pretty place - nice atmosphere with open kitchen. Shelby was our server - she was great! Friendly but not in your face. She really went the extra mile for us. In fact, all the staff we interacted with were very nice. Seemed genuinely happy to have us come in on this cold, cold January night. Really enjoyed our oysters - no shell shards, clean cold and so tasty. Tried the pineapple serenade cocktail - yum. The lobster fra diavolo was excellent - really tasty and good portion. Might have gone 5 stars if thought the monkfish marsala was as good but it was just a bit heavy on the wine imo (though we both felt the same). Homemade focaccia was very good. Tiramisu was great. Highly recommend and we will be back with our kids next time!

You walk upstairs (narrow stairway with high pitch, use the handrails) and enter the speakeasy. It was interesting in that most of the people there were families with kids - I can tell you as someone who seeks out speakeasys that this was unusual. We ordered our drinks - I ordered a Bourbon Beachcomber, and my wife ordered a Midnight Mocha, since that style of drinks is a specialty for The Copper Club. The bartender put on a good show when making the drinks, which were served in the correct glass with the correct garnish. The drink quality was solid. So why only 4 stars? This place is used for overflow seating for Wally's Weiners. That's fine, but it misses a market (and it wasn't even LISTED here on Yelp for other Yelp members to find) which is actually pretty hot right now. Maybe they need to benchmark eleven twenty two in Paso Robles, or Club Arcada in St Charles for some ideas of how to make this concept pop. Drink prices were in par for quality drinks. You can order all of Wally's menu items as well.

Worth every penny to be sitting in that igloo right on the water! They are all decorated so beautifully! The food was delicious, the drinks - outstanding, the location was amazing, but what made the night perfection was the people! Huge shout out to the manager, Kristen, who makes every person feel so welcome when they walk in that front door! She couldn't have treated us more kindly and more genuinely. What a shining example of the best in hospitality! Then Eric at the bar, so incredibly nice! He makes everybody that sits down at that bar feel like a VIP! And his cocktails, delicious! Lastly, want to give a huge THANK YOU to Ashley J, our wonderful server! It is not easy coming in and out of that restaurant in the cold to deliver to those igloos, and we appreciate every single effort she made! She was an absolute joy! Genuinely caring, funny, so attentive! You made our evening, Ashley! Thank you ALL! Cannot wait to book another igloo in the very near future!
