The ambience is very nice in here & I got sat right away. The wine menu was confusing because when I asked the waitress about the white wines per glass she said only 3 were available. She was nice enough to let me try them and I chose the Trevino which was very good and paired great with my food. The bread was nothing special but solid and the high quality olive oil made up for it. For my main I got the chicken milanese and it was divine. I loved the vinaigrette on top perfectly acidic and vinegary. It cut though the oil and heaviness of the breading which was perfectly salted by the way. The arugula bean salad was sooo good and created such a well balanced meal. I absolutely loved this place. Drip coffees were good. They kept refilling my mug without even asking. The cappuccinos came with a little cookie which is very European and always puts a smile on my face. We took two pizzas - the prosciutto fig one and the spicy sausage kale one - both were excellent but the prosciutto one came with this blue cheese spread thing which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! Their pizzas are grilled btw and the base is somewhere between a flaky 'paratha' and a pizza base. We were visiting Newport again and had to make a stop at Bar 'Cino. I knew to make a reservation this time as it was holiday week and this place is always busy. Food was so good and while I always love their salads, I had to opt for some pasta to warm me up! The pasta did not disappoint. Sorry my photo is not great ... i almost finished my meal before i got a photo. Service was great and everyone is so nice and friendly. So my goal was to try a few spots with her since it's off season and easier to get a reservation. She loves pasta and so I thought this could be a good option. From the moment we walked in, service was so friendly but not over the top. I started with a delicious sweet potato vegetable soup. I got the braised short rib and my mom choose the bolognese. We had just tried newhaven style pizza a few weeks ago on vacation, and when I heard about Newport grilled pizza I had to come! First of all, I was not aware that this was a Newport Restaurant group member, so at the end of the meal, I checked in on the app and gave my Check-In code to the server for my reward points. Bar Cino is such a cozy little gem in Newport. The vibe is laid back but buzzing, especially on weekends. It definitely gets packed, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation. The service is friendly and on point, and the place is super clean -- even the bathrooms. Always a good sign. Came here for an early dinner at Bar 'Cino for 4th of July! The place was packed but we were able to make a reservation before our sunset sail. The highlight was definitely the pistachio ricotta cake -- light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. I'd honestly order regular shipments to my house if I could. The pasta dishes (spaghetti with shrimp and campanelle) were both solid, and the campanelle was pretty special in my opinion. The summer squash was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and Bar 'Cino must share a space with the place next door because we were sat where the two restaurants combine on the inside. Avoid this place at all costs. I've,worked in, built, and sold restaurants over the last 10+ years and never in my life have I experienced such horrible service. They forgot our food, took over an hour to eventually remake it, overcharged us, then gaslit my wife (7 months pregnant) when she inquired about the items they had charged us for but we didn't receive. Background - My wife and I were in Newport for the weekend and decided to try this place on a whim. The fantastic Yelp reviews and proximity to our hotel made this the no-brainer dinner spot - plus she was craving Italian. The food was mediocre, cold but decent flavor profiles, but not terrible. The service, however, was unforgivable. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant with such despicable customer service. It was so bad that another bartender offered to comp our meal. When we ultimately left an hour late with cold take out, a bartender named Hannah charged at us at the back door, gaslit my wife into thinking she was was stealing, then overcharged us for items that we didn't order, were on the receipt, and not even included in the bag. I've considered reporting the incident to the BBB given the nature of their service and seriousness of the situation. If the owner reads yelp reviews, I'd encourage them to reach out for additional details. Or run the security tapes and talk to Hannah. I certainly would want to know about it if this were one of my restaurants. Life is too short to waste your hard earned money on such despicable service. If you're going to dinner in Newport, give the business to anyone else. There are a lot of great operators. And if you have plans to dine here, I'd highly recommend switching to any of the other amazing restaurants in town! read more

Had a fantastic time at Bar'Cino last night!! We showed up around 6pm on a super rainy night without a reservation. We were super lucky to snag two seats at the bar- perfect! We were greeted right away by the bartender and given some time to look at the menu. I decided on a class of Pinot noir and my fiancé was happy that coors light was available. The menu looked amazing and it was difficult for me to decide what to order. We ended up doing the antipasti platter to start and it was fantastic. We loved the cannellini beans and pickled tomatoes. The fig jam was also delicious. For our main we got the roasted chicken for two. Presentation was gorgeous and taste was awesome. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and I couldn't stop eating the Brussels sprouts and carrots. Our bartender checked on us and was very friendly. We returned back to Bar 'Cino after around a year's hiatus and the meal was just as good as last year, if not better. Bar 'Cino has a rustic and homey charm but yet feels upscale; at the same time, not so upscale that it feels overly formal or like you need to dress up. My only complaint is that the restaurant was so loud that I couldn't really hear the people at our table nor could I pick up on most of what the server was saying. It seemed like the restaurant was playing music to offset the noise, but I think this actually raises the overall noise level. We were pleasantly surprised when the server informed us that the chef was able to make/alter dishes that meet allergy needs, which is honestly somehow hard to always reliably find. This really added a special touch to my girlfriend's meal and admittedly her beef short rib looked amazing and something I should had ordered instead. I ordered the beef bolognese and it was fantastic, super rich, hearty, flavorful. The pasta was a bit too al dente for my taste but regardless it was delicious. Another person at our table ordered pizza with chicken and arugula and it looked good. Somewhat awkward to eat as the pizza takes up more than the small serving platter it is served on and is really overflowing. No skimping on quantity here. It would had been slightly easier with a small plate on the side. All the pizzas looked really fresh and very high quality. We got the antipasti again although it seemed really heavy on jams/jellies/beans/relish and not very heavy on meat or cheese. Comparing to my photo of the antipasti from last year it's pretty clear the meat we received was about 1/2 of what we received last year. We received 2 VERY paper thin slices of some sort of salami and 2 pieces of prosciutto only. For $19, we expected a bit more. Bar 'Cino also has a fantastic wine selection although it seems oddly heavy on California wines. I love the opportunity to have a Tuscan wine and it did not disappoint. We will certainly be coming back here again soon! read more

bar 'cino is a stop that we have been to before in brookline and we decided to check into their newport space to grab a late lunch. this location emphasizes the Bar aspect as there are many bar seats and we were seated quickly. caesar was good and light on the dressing, tuscan kale was very acidic and vinegar based (which i like, but can understand if there are others that don't). pear bruschetta was loaded with pear but fell slightly flat and the baked clam pomodoro was yum and the waitress even brought us extra foccacia to have it with without us requesting it which was nice. overall a reliable local chain that is good for a bite or two - cocktails at the brookline location were great, but dry january is underway for us! read more

I don't even need to be specific, one of our favorite dining experiences of the summer while driving from Narraganset to Newport to Portsmouth NH, York Beach Maine to Portland. Make a reservation during season (I guess) we lucked out. And soon after headed to the Bar 'Cino outside of Boston in Brookline and we were sadly disappointed. The apps were great. The only big issue I had with an Italian restaurant with such good reviews was the horribly overcooked pasta and risotto. Very disappointing because everything else was great! My better half and i spent New Years in RI and had the good fortune of fining this place! Being we were there off-season - New Years Day we were surprised to see the place packed - all tables were taken, so being faced with a 45 minute wait, we opted for sitting at the counter. I never knew this place existed and now I've been here 4 times in the past 2 months. It is such a cozy spot with the most delicious food and drinks. Since I've ordered almost everything off the menu at this point I'll give you some insight on my favorite dishes. Roasted Heirloom Carrots- 10/10, I don't think I could ever have the right words to describe how delicious this is. I am really not a vegetable lover but would eat this every day if I could. It's a mix of ricotta and pistachios paired with the carrots and it's unreal. THE Potato Chips- 10/10, also would eat this every day if I could, the garlic aioli for dipping is literally addicting. Fig & Prosciutto Pizza- 9/10, my jaw dropped the first time I ate this because I couldn't believe how good it was. This is probably a me problem but sometimes the flavor gets too overpowering but lucky for me I can never order just one thing off the menu so I go to the next food and take a little break. Oven Roasted Chicken Sandwich- 8/10, I wanted to love this more because the taste and flavor was so good but the bread is so large that it feels like it's taking away from it and you question if you're going to choke when swallowing it. Stopped here for my birthday lunch and so happy we did! Saw pictures of their pizza online and knew I had to try. Started with a salad that had cannolini beans and a light citrusy dressing. It was a nice start to a meal. When a place offers homemade chips I always need to try and these were amazing. Lastly we split the margarita pizza and it was so light and crunchy. Wish we got one to go haha. Service was very slow, but since the food was so good I was ok with that. Will definitely go back next time we are in Newport. read more
