My wife's hamburger tasted like one you would get at a county fair & the mozzarella sticks were your basic restaurant depot style.its basically a tourist trap. Our server was nice & the food came out in a decent amount of time. The view from the upstairs patio bar & dining are was terrific & the bar/restaurant was very clean. Came here for the Rhode Island Food Fights Lord of the Pies competition. The Quencher has a cool 50s vibe going for it, and it's clearly more of a bar that happens to serve food than a restaurant that happens to have a bar. Unfortunately, that became pretty apparent during my visit. Let's start with the pizza, which is... well, interesting. Picture a 1-inch thick focaccia bread with some sauce on top. While the bread itself might have been enjoyable with a simple pat of butter, it doesn't quite work as a pizza base. Their tomato pie version adds some heat with red pepper flakes and chunkier sauce, but the cheese version is let down by bland, forgettable cheese and tasteless sauce. The service was puzzling. Despite being the only customers in the establishment, getting a refill on my Coke felt like trying to solve a mystery - "Why is this place called 'Rhe Quencher' if I can't get a refill?" one that remained unsolved throughout the meal. While I can imagine this place humming on evenings and weekends as a bar spot, the daytime service left much to be desired. The verdict? The Quencher seems like it could be a cool spot for drinks, and that retro 50s atmosphere has potential. But if you're here for the pizza, you might want to quench your thirst elsewhere - and your hunger too, for that matter. Weekend service might be better, but the pizza probably won't be. read more

Small bar with an excellent menu of food. We started with the truffle fries. They were crispy and tasty. We then had the chicken Parm sandwich and the grilled chicken club. Both were very delicious and highly recommended. The service was spectacular. If I could find one fault, it was a little bit dark in the place. I have been here prior when it was under a different name. A friend and I decided to try it out on a Saturday. I like the layout of the bar. It was crowded but not too close. They have a large number of tables on the first floor a nice deck and a small bar on the second floor. The servers were very good. They were friendly and answered questions about the food and libations. They had a great drink collection. I started with a very nicely made Sazerac and my friend had a Margarita that he liked a lot. I got a Ceasar salad to start with fried white anchovies that were quite good and followed it with a Chicken Parmigiana plate. The chicken was tender and the sauce was very flavorful. More like 3.5 but I think there is a lot of space for improvement. The ambience when you walk in is great! It's giving dive bar but without the actual grime and dirt of a dive bar. I love the decor (both in the dining room and in the bathroom) and there's also a photobooth! ($6.50 for 2 photostrips) We wanted to sit on the rooftop but the hostess told us that they didn't have the space for our party of 6. Not a problem! However, the bartender upstairs who overheard us went, "That's a hard NO," immediately after we asked about a table. Unnecessary comment but whatever, people yap. We're seated downstairs and while the server and bartender are super nice, they are incredibly short staffed. We waited quite a bit for someone to take our entree order and we ended up just going up to the bar to get someone's attention. The one server also seemed new and while we were very patient (because we know how it is), he seemed super nervous and constantly apologized for forgetting drink orders. Super sweet kid, but y'all need some extra hands! Now for the FOOD! Most of the things we ordered were pretty solid. Meatball Panini: It was good! Not really what I was expecting since I'm used to paninis being pressed and flat and this was more like two pieces of focaccia. Definitely enough food for two people if you share apps too. Lasagna Dip: This was recommended to us by the bartender and I really liked it! It could have used a little more sauce for the "dippy-ness" factor. Arancini: Hard to go wrong with these. Lots of cheese on the inside. Truffle Fries: Came out HOTTT! They were delicious and the sauce that came with it was *chef's kiss* Wicked Good Time Pizza: I wanted to like this so bad but it could use a little work. The crust wasn't crispy and there were just a few skinny calamari pieces sprinkled on top. Spicy Margherita Pizza: Flavor of this one was good. Has a kick (obviously). Could be a little crispier. A cool, rainy spring night was calling out for some comfort food, and we decided it was time to give this newer bar & restaurant a try since they claim to serve Italian comfort fare. The atmosphere, at least downstairs, does a good job of replicating your local corner dive bar. Right down to the kitchy signs on the bar. It was a fairly quiet week night & the crowd was mixed ages and the atmosphere relaxed. Service was efficient while not very friendly or personable. We started with a reasonably priced Gansett & a house nitro Negroni. The nitro added a smoothness to the strong drink - nice! For entrees, the chicken & eggplant parms fit the bill. While not typical New England monster portion sizes, both were crunchy & cheesy - very tasty! The fresh taglaitelle pasta was a nice side - perfectly cooked & sauced. The only mishap for us was the side of spicy white beans. We love white beans & spice, could resist. However, we found the side inedibly spicy. We are not wimps about hot food, but we found that these ruined the flavors of the rest of the meal & quickly stopped eating them. When we asked the server to package them ( hoping we could somehow salvage, we could not & they ended up trash ), we mentioned to her that they were REALLY spicy. She chuckled & said "yup", nothing more. Be warned... Over all, not bad & reasonably priced for the 'hood. We went for dinner the other day and it was so good we went back today for lunch. The wait staff overall was very accommodating The host who took our reservation was very friendly and professional. The wait staff was very attentive. For our dinner I ordered the chicken piccata and it was delicious! The chicken was tender and very flavorful. My husband got the chicken Marsala which he loved and was very reminiscent of two of our favorite restaurants (Ida's and Puerinis ) . The pasta was house made . Delicious! For lunch I ordered the crispy eggplant appetizer. The eggplant was so crispy ! The tomato sauce so bright with flavor. My husband got the chicken parm sandwich on house made pizza bread . Stopped in here late Sunday, it was our last stop as we worked our way across Aquidneck Island for our Rhode Island food fights 'Lord of the pies' excursion. We walked into an otherwise empty establishment, with but a handful of patrons but were surprised to find a very talented young woman playing guitar and singing. Weller, the bartender told us we could sit anywhere we liked and so we chose a table by the front door so that we could enjoy the live music. We got some drinks and patiently waited for our slices of grandma pizza to come out. When they did, they were definitely the thickest pizza we had had all day. They definitely threw off that vibe of French or Italian bread with sauce and cheese on top of it but nonetheless, these little rectangular slices were very good. We enjoyed a couple more songs before heading out across the Pell Bridge for one more stop for the night. read more

The service was extremely friendly and prompt and the food completely exceeded our expectations. My wife got the chicken parm and I ordered a margherita pizza. Both were very good but the pizza really surprised me as it was what I would consider very good top notch pizza. The crust, the sauce, and everything about it was just good. So, we stumbled across this place after another place we were going to was closed. Ironically, as we were walking and talking about The Quencher a local told us that he considered it " Upscale Bar Food", so we decided to give it a shot. The food is really good, calamari amazing, burgers juicy and full of flavor. However, they could stop serving all of that and be one of the best Pizzeria's in the United United States! I have had pizza in Rome, Naples, and everywhere else that I have traveled and this is amazing pizza!!! The crust is super flavorful, has the right amount of char and leopard print, the sauce is super flavorful and compliments everything well and their cheese is on point. Seriously, they should be packed everyday with people wanting pizza like this as well as having a walk up window that sells slices to a line that wraps around the block!
