Peanut butter cookies made by the famous chef Thomas Phelps - thank you kind sir
    Tony P.

Their staff and hospitality was an A+. We ate their breakfast buffet twice and had dinner twice here at Saltwater. Their clam chowder has to be the best I've ever had. It wasn't too thick or too thin - loaded with fresh clams and potato's. I loved it. Their fish and chips were hot and delightful. Their chicken breast was chunky and cooked to perfection with some fun herbs. What i took notice of was the quality of their foods. The chef made an appearance or two to our table. He said their turkey had been cooking for 7 hours so I decided to dive into their turkey. I was super impressed - presentation, their standards and service were highly proficient.

Best restaurant in Newport! My mom and I were on a weekend trip and we were tired of all the same restaurants with the same menus. We looked at the menu for Saltwater and knew right away it wasn't like all of the other restaurants. Saltwater is trendy, open, laidback, and right on the water. We went on a Friday night and the sunset was incredible. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights and the band was incredible. It didn't take long to have a packed dance floor. We split a bottle of wine, salad and the Lobster flatbread (which was so good we considered ordering another). The molten cakes was the only disappointing part of the meal. The manager Nicholas, was extremely friendly and helpful.

Came here on a Saturday's night. Sat in the on the dock, had a drink, and listened to a live band. Very casual and relaxing night. Service was friendly and quick.

One of the few places on the piers that didn't have a giant crowd. Both indoor and outdoor seating available, however they limit the use of the table seating (probably due to staff limitations). Got a couple seats at the bar and got some menus. Not a large selection of beers, but a couple of locals on tap. Had one of those ($7) and split the Local Charcuterie Board ($18) - a large plate of three different cheeses, three meats, crackers, jam, honey, and breadsticks. A nice array of items - with the blue cheese and hard salami being my favorites. Bartender here is friendly, and manages to get around to everyone quickly. If looking for something low-key and near heat lamps, this is the place to go.

I'm surprised at the amount of stars for this place. I revisited Saltwater with a friend after my first visit a few years ago and once again, I was able to sit right down at a table on the deck (the bar was packed with probably a pre wedding crew). We had good service, enjoyed the outdoors and our drink and glass of rose. Decided to split the lobster flatbread which had nice sizable chunks of lobster for a price you'd expect outdoors in Newport (maybe less, $18). No complaints.

Really nice perk of the hotel to provide free drink cards when checking in for the hotel bars house sangria or punch. Although refreshing, just super sweet and we didn't get much of the alcohol out of the drinks (light pour or watered down) but it was still a nice gesture. I finished the punch, but we didn't finish the sangria. Nice staff though.

Service is ok. Food is ok. However, view is superb. Ordered burger and it was an ok burger nothing outstanding Ordered clam chowder soup, it was a bit salty Ordered Egg Benedict, the egg was done to well done instead of over easy

Overall good place compared to some of the other places we went although service can be slightly slow if it gets busy. Came here on a thursday night. Nice location, there was a decent crowd when we went there and few bar seats were available. The bartender was friendly. Got the salt water Bloody Mary and mojito. The Bloody Mary was good but the mojito was a tad bit too sweet for me. Got the salt water burger which was actually quite delicious, we were hungry as well and the home fries were pretty good. Overall I'd say 3.5 stars for this place.

This is what was supposed to pass as a dirty martini and an old fashioned

This review is about the outdoor bar, not the restaurant. We stopped by on Saturday night at 8:45. We were informed by the bartender that it was last call. I asked for a dirty martini and my request was met with an eye roll. We got our drinks (see picture) and they were the awful. There wasn't an olive to be found in my drink. My partner got an old fashioned that tasted like it had half a bottle of bitters in it. The bartender seemed more interested in chatting with his friends than serving his customers. We will not be returning.

This was my best meal in Newport so far! I only docked a star because service was underwhelming. Very inattentive, no rush to help us but at least still polite. We started with the crab fries that were TO DIE FOR. they came out in a bucket with the cheesy crab sauce on the side. They then dumped the fries on the platter and we put the sauce on top. Amazing! They were huge though and three hungry audits sharing them worked perfectly. Next we had two entrees: lobster flatbread and the salmon scampi. Both were exceptional and not lacking in seafood, especially for the reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this place!

I stopped in for a bowl of chowder on a Monday night when the weather cooled down for the night. The staff outside was fantastic, making sure the outdoor heaters were on and allowing us to order as the kitchen was closing. Port sangria was excellent and white chowder was absolutely fantastic!

Visited Saltwater for my first time and ordered the crab fries, which (along with the rest of the food) was good, just not great. It seems like nothing was seasoned enough, I later had the fish tacos and my husband had a burger which both were sort of bland and lacked seasoning. We also had two drinks each which were delicious! Excellent staff and even better decor. All together Saltwater was a cool place to go, but definitely not the best food in the area.

Quick service, reasonably priced food, great location, unique and delicious. We got a table right next to the water and were served our food quickly. We had the clam chowder which was very original. I'd call it a deconstructed clam chowder bowl - I've never soup done this way, it was very neat and also had great flavor! We also tried the calamari appetizer and really enjoyed it! The breading used was full of flavor and was a good portion size. The cocktail sauce complimented it well.

Shortly after they took our drink order, a manager came over to the table with a complementary app and offered a round of drinks on the house. The presentation is gorgeous too! Plating is also important and they nail it! Okay let's gooooo! Come join our dining experience! We tried a bit of everything! We loved every bit of it. I'll mention my faves but that doesn't take away how hard it was to choose a fave! Everything was DELICIOUS ! Raw bar: Jamestown oysters . We had 10. We can't get enough east coast oysters. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. It doesn't feel like you are eating carrots and regardless it's a very dressed up bougie delicious carrot plate ! Mmmm . One of my faves out of the snacks. 2. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!)
