Thanks to a friend for inviting me to join him at The Blue Room in Pawtuxet Village last night. My burger was delicious, the staff were lovely (shout-out to owner Jen!) the music was terrific and the atmosphere was chill. It's also a great time whenever you run into local legends Len Cabral and Rose Weaver If you like jazz, good food and drink in a location with a real neighborhood vibe, I highly recommend checking it out! Plenty of available parking, both on the street and in the private lot next to the dry cleaners on the corner, where there are dedicated spots for Blue Room patrons. read more

This was our first time here. It's a cute place and it was a full house! Definitely make reservations like we did! We sat near the windows so that was nice. We came here because Lisa Bello was performing. These are the same owners as The District so you know you are going to enjoy yourself! The menu is very limited. The food we got was yummy! My husband and I tried this place out last week. It was insanely busy. Our server was very pleasant despite managing a lot of tables. We were starving. When it was time for us to order, we discovered that the specials we wanted had been sold out, and another dish on the menu that was our second choice was also sold out. We made the best of the situation and got a couple apps, ordered drinks, and listened to the band. When our bill came at the end of the night, we noticed that gratuity was already included. This was not disclosed ahead of time, and if we didn't check the receipt, we would not have realized it. It was $250 for the two of us which we weren't expecting. Unfortunately, this place will not be in our regular rotation. The menu is too limited to warrant making this a pricier option for us. read more

Weird experience. We made 6:45 reservations, the hostesses was missing for at least 10 min. When she sat us at 7:00 she told us we had to give the table up at 8:00, (apparently there was a ticketed event) so we needed to order fast. The waitress was great, made great suggestions and was very personable. The lamb chops were great as was the scallop special. read more

It's a 5. I really wanted to make it a four. I loved the old place. I loved the old bar. I wanted to see littlenecks on the menu. I wanted to make it a four because our first data point was that we couldn't get a glass of wine because they couldn't find a bottle opener,...but,...the staff was amazing and never kept us waiting despite the crowd, the food was superb - the flavor of the shrimp dish was incredible , and the quality of the live jazz on Wednesday night far surpassed expectations. Management checked in on us and we spoke about their connection to the Providence community. Prices are what they are everywhere but I'm really happy Cranston has the new, old, new gem! Fabulous soft open for the Blue Room. Drinks were amazing. I had the Midnight Rose. Hot appetizers were delicious. If they are an indication of the food menu it will be amazing. The decor was modern and tasteful. The place was packed, live music playing. I am really looking forward to visiting again after next week's official opening. read more

I dined at The Blue Room for a Christmas get together with coworkers. We pick a restaurant each year and on a recommendation we decided on this restaurant. There is no Restaurant parking, We were greeted by a young lady at the counter and were seated promptly (there was a reservation) the space is tastefully done, nice blue decor and a nice red couch with a quote on the wall near the bathroom. The waitress came over and was friendly and prompt throughout the dining experience. I ordered a classic margarita and requested tajin for the rim, I'm not sure why it was put on the side of the glass ( I would assume for an esthetic look) who wants to be licking the side of a glass especially in public. For appetizers we went with the crab cake tower and perri perri garlic shrimp which was delicious, next was the entree I went with the grilled octopus and while delicious the portion was small leaving me hungry by the end of the meal. We did have the young lady that greeted us come over to ask if we were staying for the band which we said yes, she said she would check if there was another reservation for the table, there was not so we were able to stay (that was a little odd) They do play live music we so happened to be there for the start (nice band). One observation which gave me a maybe on visiting again was that the owner and manager were present that night and I could observe they have their regular clientele by the greeting, hugging and chatting but there were other tables including my table that were first time guest and not one person came over to see how our meals were or how our experience was. I know this is Pawtuxet Village a community in itself with many locals which is great but I feel you have to also build clientele from surrounding areas. Both the manager and owner fell short in my observation , you never know who is entering your establishment. I do commend the waitress for being amazing and answering our questions. read more

Beautiful, elegant restaurant with a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, the drinks were excellent, and the bartender was very attentive. However, the experience was confusing. We had a reservation but were told we could sit at the bar. I asked both the host and bartender if there was a time limit, and both said no. After we were seated and ordering, one of the co-owners came over and asked us to leave because the seats were reserved--even though other people had just sat at the bar without being questioned. He later came back, said we could stay, and sent over complimentary drinks, which I appreciated--but the situation felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. Disappointing, because everything else about the place was great, but I've never experienced that kind of treatment at any restaurant in Rhode Island. read more

My first visit was AMAZING!!! I woke up this morning already thinking about when I can go back. The space is absolutely beautiful! It's sleek, clean, and so well put together. Our server, Andre, was super personable and attentive. The sangria was delicious, and as someone who appreciates a good espresso martini, I can honestly say it was a 10/10. My dad couldn't stop raving about the shrimp ceviche appetizer special and the meatball. The bacon jam on the burger was to die for, and the hand-cut fries...YUM. The mac trio is a must-try! Dessert was also a hit at our table...the molten lava cake 10/10 All of the food came out hot and fresh. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. The owner, Jen, checked in on us, as well as the manager, Lauren. It was awesome to see the owner so attentive and genuinely making sure all the customers were taken care of...something you don't see often! read more

We went opening night, I will start with the atmosphere, it is spectacular! The blue and gold are beautiful, love the staffs shirts and ties. Was great to see some of the Providence staff there that night. The drinks were amazing especially the one with turmeric! We shared the Board. Nice assortment of cheese and meat. We also had the whipped feta with pomegranate, absolutely delicious! Everything was delicious and the service was spot on! Can't wait to go back this weekend. I wish Jen and Mike all the success in their new endeavor! She is a beauty and there will be many great memories in your new place! read more

OMG! I've been to The Blue Room several times now. I'm honestly not certain whether I keep coming back for the music or the Crispy St. Louis Ribs! The ribs are an absolute must have. On a previous visit, I sat at the bar and spotted a salad that looked too good to ignore. So the following Wednesday, while waiting for their bi-weekly jazz jam session to begin, I ordered the beet salad with added salmon. I'm STILL searching for the right words to describe how incredible the flavors were. Fantastic! Then, as I'm enjoying the music, I notice another guest enjoying what looks like three small bowls of pasta. I ask my server what it is. He smiles and says, "The Mac Trio." A flight of Three Cheese Mac, Truffle Mac, and Hot Honey & Bacon Mac. Are you kidding me? Decision made. Next visit, I'm getting the ribs AND the mac. Fantastic food, great vibe, and live jazz that makes you want to stay all night. The Blue Room is something special. read more

Firstly, the ambiance is so inviting. A beautiful, well stocked bar awaits you is you step into the room. The barstools are so so comfortable and on a swivel. Barstools are, (I have found)mostly too high to navigate comfortably and do not allow for movement. (My own personal peeve.) I cozied up to the bar and finally ordered a cosmopolitan. Honestly, I've never seen or tasted a cosmo w no color(and no trace of alcohol). The bartender was very obliging and added some simple syrup and a little more cranberry juice, to no avail.) As I waited for my friends to join me. I decided to order a snack. I love this place but am in awe of, how do you mess up popcorn? The best solution would be to buy(or offer) bagged popcorn. Just a suggestion. The music was wonderful. WONDERFUL! I pray this place thrives. The staff is so accommodating and pleasant. The venue is amazing, inviting, and just what is needed in this area. So regardless of the drink and "food"( which I found out afterwards, food can be brought in from outside), I am giving this establishment 5 stars. What a cute little place. Stopped by as a recommendation after having dinner at a local Cranston restaurant. We made it there by 7:30pm, live music starting at 8pm with a $10pp cover charge. We asked if we could grab a drink at the bar and decide if we were staying which was welcomed. Mac and Zach behind the bar were quick, fun, attentive, and not too bad on the eyes (wink wink). The atmosphere was light hearted filled with an eclectic cliental, my gf and I made friends with several other folks at the bar. I can see this becoming a regular stop for us. read more

It is rare that I take the time to write a review on anything, but this evening was worth it.  I saw The Blue Room advertised on social media. I love a good small music venue so I purchased tickets for a jazz show that looked interesting. I frequent a small venue in the Washington, DC area called The Birchmere, and thought this looked like a smaller, nicer version. When we walked in I was thrilled! We were seated right up front. Immediately, we were greeted by Andre.  He was lovely....friendly, attentive and engaging. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and advised us what to order based on our preferences. The standouts were the meatball app, caesar salad with chicken and veal parmesan. They also have some fabulous cocktails; one in particular, The Village, was outstanding. It was so nice to be able to dine at our leisure with a cocktail in hand while enjoying amazing music. The acoustics were spot on. We both looked at each other and said, " We found our new place".  I was so thrilled with the evening that I needed to meet the owners, Jennifer and Mike. They were the hardest working people in the room. Dressed impeccably, they made sure to greet everyone, clear a plate if necessary and make sure that a good time was had by all. I encourage you to look at their calendar, find a show that interests you and make a reservation. They do have a nice bar so that is an option as well. read more

Great atmosphere for jazz. We were there for girls night out for Brain James Quintet record release. A group of 7 and we bought our tickets ahead(only $15 pp). Nice drink menu: full bar, beers and wines. Average pricing (nice glasses!). The owner/manager came to welcome us and or server was attentive but not overly. THIS is my favorite room to hear live music in Rhodey! One of the rare clubs where people actually come to listen to great music and give feedback to the band through their applause. As a musician it's an awesome place to play as well because you know the audience is there to hear you. Great sound system awesome staff Delicious drinks. Heard this place is selling and the hearing on the liquor license transfer is Monday October 7 at 6:00 Pm. We drove behind the building to assess whether the sound from the Blue Room is excessive - it is not. Went to the Blue Room for a drink and did not enter as the cover charge was $25 per person to listen to someone doing Joni Mitchell and Neil Young impersonations. Not ready to pay $50 to buy inflated drinks at this establishment. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. read more

Finally got to visit last Saturday night (been on the local bucket list for a while). Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Basta, the adjacent Italian restaurant, before ambling next door for the 8 o'clock show. We were greeted and seated promptly in our reserved seats with an awesome view of the stage. As the place only seats about 50 in a cafe setting, I suspect every seat is a great seat. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous, with every detail thoughtfully placed. With an upscale urban feel, it was the perfect setting for the 3 hour show featuring exceptional chanteuse Alexus Lee. Her smooth and vibrant vocals rang true as she hopped between exquisitely executed takes on the likes of Sade and Marvin Gaye to her own gorgeously metered songs. We sampled the cocktail list, thoroughly enjoying a few of the sophisticated offerings but did not try the nibbles (too full from Basta). All in all, a wonderful date night we are likely to repeat. Highly recommend for those who enjoy a sophisticated and intimate music venue. read more

Paid $20 to sit in a hallway listening to 1940s Big Band music , place is so small , Martini was the size of a shot . Will not be returning

I visited this establishment for the first time. The music from the street brought us in.. Well it was a Jazz band, im not a fan of Jazz but the place seemed nice. We found a seat at the bar, the bartender seemed busy, and he did not greet us at all. My boyfriend had to ask for our drinks.. after they were made and given to us. The bartender asked us if we paid a cover when we walked in ... puzzled I said no, the woman near the bar with him said i must have missed them. So he then said it would be $10 each and added it to our card. I could not believe it. Never asked if it was ok, etc.. we felt compelled to pay.. mind you if we knew we would not have stayed or ordered a drink.. the band ended within 20 minutes of us being there that was even more upsetting. We will never go back. That is a pretty sneaky way to collect a cover charge. I have never seen a cover charge applied to a credit card. go read more

I was extremely excited to finally have a venue like The Blue Room in Pawtuxet Village. Aside from the phenomenal bands that play there, the place is absolutely disappointing. Upon arrival there's a cover, the drinks are pricey and the staff is completely unwelcoming. Here's a novel idea, acknowledge your bar patrons especially if they'll be sitting and waiting for an extended period of time before taking their order. I recognize it is appropriate to charge a cover and do not have a problem with paying it particularly if it pays for the live music, however, the drinks are small and the most expensive in the village. Additionally, the service does not match the amount of money one will spend upon arrival. A party of two will be in it for $60 after paying the cover and having one drink each. Doesn't it make sense to lower the price of the tiny drink in an effort to keep people ordering? Lastly, my party was rudely kicked out of a table because they needed it for a reservation. That very table stayed vacant with its "Reserved" sign for an hour! So stupid! Learn how to effectively run a venue, please. The idea is there and it's a good one but the management is clueless. read more

After bar hopping around the village on Saint Patrick's Day with my boyfriend and friends, we decided to check out Blue Room. The band was great and I was enjoying my time before grabbing a drink. My boyfriend goes up to the bar and orders a beer and a Downeast for me. The bartender then mouths to me sitting across the place, that he needs to see my ID, my boyfriend grabs it from me and brings it to him. Then the bartender says, no she needs to bring it, so I go up and give it to him. He stares into my soul for 5 seconds, looks at my ID for 10, then laughs and smiles and says he feels uncomfortable serving me. I asked why and was given no reasoning and just kept saying he was uncomfortable. Now i'm here feeling extremely embarrassed, making me feel like I am an 18 year old with a fake ID. I live literally right up the street, have been in here once before and got served and have been 21 since last May and never got denied. I would've respected his decisions if he would have given me a reason or been more polite about it. He then voided my boyfriend's drink for some reason, said sorry to me again, in which I asked nicely why and he walked away. I wasn't mad about not getting a drink, I was more mad about getting disrespected for no reason. read more
