AS 220 is a really interesting business....It combines visual arts, with music, with food. It's really a center for people to gather and to engage with the community. It's a local forum and home for the arts, through the maintenance of residential and work studios, galleries, performance and educational spaces. Exhibitions and performances in the forum are unjuried, uncensored and open to the general public. I have been many times to enjoy the exhibits, their small music concerts, and their food at the AS220 Bar. Their facilities and services are made available to all artists who need a place to exhibit, perform, or create their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain space to exhibit or perform from traditional sources because of financial or other limitations. AS 220 believes there is magic and power in bringing people from different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, identities and perspectives together. They work to build genuine, reciprocal relationships with artists, audiences, peer organizations and community collaborators, and to honor the connections made. This is a great venue for all people to come together and to interact with each other by sight or sound. They always welcome and thank people who use their skills, knowledge, expertise and time to build community as volunteers. AS220 has a vision for a just and equitable world where all people can realize their full creative potential. They recognize that there are systems of oppression -- such as racism, classism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, and economic and environmental injustice -- in many Rhode Island communities, and they strive to work against their root causes. It really is a haven for the underpriviledged to let the world know about their talents and skills.

Finally made it into this highly regarded bar/restaurant during PVD Vegan Restaurant Week. We came in on a Friday night and only waited a few minutes before finding seats. This is a small place, but the crowd comes in waves, so just wait and you'll find yourself a seat. We ordered two local craft beers. Their list is very good! They do have a few cocktails too. We ordered the oyster mushroom calamari, tom yum soup and the vegan ramen. Every dish had fresh herbs and veggies. So good! There is really a dish for everyone here (omnivores and herbivores alike). Looking forward to trying more dishes!

From day one celebrating what You do . A community treasure in so many ways. New food menu and unbelievable original art of all kinds. Politicians and poets gather for beers and food. Musicians of all sorts art on every surface. Providences geek elite come to meet once a month in creative meat space. Stop in and see what all the fuss is about.

The cocktails here are awesome. They've got all kinds of house-made vodkas. Big fan of the lemon-ginger with gingerale, and the apple-cinnamon, which literally tastes like you're drinking an apple pie. Delicious and dangerous. I like the vibe here, and while it can sometimes be too loud to have a conversation if there's music going on next door... I still heart it cause the bartenders make some mean drinks. My only real complaint is that they should serve food much later than they do.

The bar they have there is a great place to drop in, even if you aren't headed to whatever show is happening in the performance space.

I walked in shortly before closing to view their exhibit, "Land, Sea, and Sky" and I was quite pleased that I had chosen to do so. The curators are engaging, knowledgeable and easy to speak to. I found them quite amicable and easy to work with both before and after I decided to purchase a piece. I had a lot of questions about 1 piece in particular and ultimately I ended up contacting the artist to learn more about the provenance of the piece I was interested in. I ended up acquiring 1 piece from the gallery and I liked it so much that I have since purchased an additional 2 pieces from that series. I now own the full collection of Nina Weiss's "Waterways" series that were painted as part of Philadelphia's "Art in the Open" invitation only, judged event. Nina's pieces have been displayed all over the world and are held in many high value collections. You need to see one in person to view the depth, texture, and technique - I think they are fantastic! Nina got her undergrad from Tyler School of Art and Design, and a higher degree from RISD, hence the Philadelphia / Rhode Island connection. All 3 paintings from that series are now displayed in a prominent place in my home, where they bring me nostalgic joy as I reminisce on familiar scenes from my time spent traipsing about Philadelphia each and every day! Thanks to Nina and ArtProv for the great work you do. Art is what separates humans from Animals.

At only two rooms, the space is pretty intimate with a cool industrial vibe. I like that you can just pop in and look around; so many of the galleries in Providence are by appointment only, which always strikes me as pretentious. The owner definitely made me feel welcome. The fact that there was a dog around didn't hurt either... Beware that the hours on Google are NOT correct! If you're planning a visit, it might be best to just call ahead and check the most updated schedule. I'm not sure if I would visit Valley specifically to come here, since it's pretty small, but if you're in the area I would definitely recommend stopping in and getting a taste of this artistic community.

Beautiful glass pieces adorning the glass windows in beautiful shades, catching the light sometimes... just calling me in for a visit! I just love glass... We were getting dinner at Fellini's and drive by again. I had some time to kill so we went inside. I was not disappointed. A store filled, almost every crevice, with glass pieces. Mushrooms, mermaids, flowers, little animals, tiki glasses, etc... So much to look at. Sitting on shelves, hanging from the ceiling... The employee became very personable when I engaged her about my love of glass. She told the two 11 year olds I was with about a box in the back of the store they could each pick out a piece of free sea glass. They loved that! she gave me the owners business card alerting me that you can go to his studio and watch him make glass pretty much during daytime hours and not far from the gallery. Pretty cool! The prices- range from super affordable to pricey but it's glass and general handmade craftsmanship. Expected. I did buy a beautiful blue flower to replace one that had broken from an unstable shelf incident a few years ago for $20. I bought a small ceramic bowl that was from a local artist. Inside the bowl had an image of the RI State house inside (a gift.) Also each pre-teen got to pick a little glass figure that were $4 a piece. They loved this!
