I went to a drag show at Alchemy which was a really fun event. I really enjoyed that they have THC and CBD seltzers for sale! They were delicious. The bartenders were super fast and friendly with their service, there's ton of free parking outside, and there were lots of places to sit (albeit, many options were folding chairs which weren't super comfy but it beats standing!). I will definitely come back to this space for future events! read more

I have been here twice now for the cardigan connection event. It is an amazing experience and the Alchemy provides the perfect space for this. They do a nice job hosting. The bar tenders are kind and efficient. They make great drinks and I love the one called sugar. I'm pretty sure if I was a drink, i would be this one! Hot pink in color and sugary sweet. Went to the Broadway Rave here. Easily one of the most fun experiences I've had in PVD in a long time. Drinks were okay, but very basic and they do not have beer on tap so keep that in mind. read more

Do not advise anyone to come if they are of color. They seem to only want money and do not value you. I went there and a woman behind the bar saw me at the same time as a white man. She took his order and, less than 10 seconds after taking it, said, "Closed." I spoke up about it and let her know that her actions were clearly unfair. The bouncer got involved and said that she would give me a shot if I apologized. Ridiculous! I won't be coming back. Appropriate is one thing, but clear disregard for black bodies, I won't stand for. Bought tickets for a jazz show a few days prior, only to find out when I showed up that the doors-open and start times had been pushed back an hour. Too late for me, especially since I'd have to drive an hour to get home after the show. I wasn't happy about having to wait outside for a full hour before the doors opened, either. The doorman promised that Dice would give me my money back (he claimed the club had no cash), but they haven't responded to my request three days later, and Alchemy hasn't either. A major annoyance is this "new" policy they have where you can't leave the building once you go inside. I wanted to step outside to make a phone call and was told that once I leave, I can't come back. I mean, I bought a ticket and paid to park, and now I'm gonna be shunned because I stepped outside for five minutes? Another guy just wanted to grab some food because Alchemy doesn't serve food. He couldn't get any because of this weird-ass rule. If there's one thing I hate - it's venues treating grown adults like children. If I can't come and go as I please, I'll take my business elsewhere. Good riddance. It never used to be like this. Not sure what happened. Also annoying - the show never starts when they say it will. Take whatever time they advertise on FB and add 1.5-2 hours to that time. That's the true time the show starts. I get tired of showing up "on time" only to have to hang around for over an hour for the music to start. read more

Be careful if you look young and have an ID from Florida, New Jersey, or Connecticut. I'd suggest arriving with a second form of ID if possible. My partner and I were denied admission on account of having "fake" Florida licenses. The bouncer was pretty rude and would not even look us in the face. However, I got in contact with management afterward and they kindly compensated us with free entry and drinks. If you can get in, it's a great place--they host many interesting alternative events. read more

Weird The old Jerky's. Sad to see that place close, but this place actually has some decent acts to perform here and they have decent deals on beers so it's pretty affordable. The place brings in an eclectic crowd but everyone is pretty chilled out and are looking to have a good time. Alchemy has been open for only a handful of months now in downtown PVD, but it seems to already be hosting hoards of events. The venue is newly, nicely renovated in the space that once was PVD social club/Jerky's. The renovations seem to have been applied all around including the stage, bar area, pool table, and VIP/seating area. Nothing fancy but an upgrade for sure if you have ever frequented this location in the past. The vibe is pretty casual. I love the variety of events that they book. I've seen so many musical genres represented here (reggae, ska, funk, punk, techno, trance, electro, hard dance...just to name a few!) and have found interest in many shows (one of my fav bands, Bella's Bartok, has played here) as well as weekly nights (such as the underground dance weekly, Freq Fridays). I think it would be safe to say that there is something for everyone here, depending on the night. They seem to be doing pretty well with staying booked and making sure that there is always something good going on. On a good night, the bartenders are pretty on top of things and super sweet. When the good ones aren't there, it can be less than ideal. Those are the nights that I stray from getting a cocktail and opt for a beer. There is an ample amount of bar seating. I'm not sure that I've seen any beers on tap, every beer I have had here has come in a can/bottle. The dancefloor is clean and roomy and allows for enough space to dance even with a decent amount of people in the room. (This is so important. There is nothing worse than wanting to dance, but not being able to due to lack of area!). The bathrooms are a little cramped. The girls room has 3 stalls and if there is a line you WILL hit someone waiting in it when opening the door. Saying "Oops" and "Sorry" is not a problem for me but fair warning, you might catch a tiny bit of claustropobia. Sinks are shared between sexes in the hall. Overall this is a sweet spot for dancing and music and I think the new space looks great! read more

I have to say the new location on Chestnut St is 100x better than there old spot on Richmond st. The sound at the new location is noticeably better, the sound when they where on Richmond was off. The new location really is really nice inside. The bartenders and staff are really friendly . I've been there for Freq Friday's and drop in one week for Island Saturdays. Both events where great vibes, good sounds and good people. I definitely will be going again. read more

Great bar and music venue with cool lighting

Came here for a dancehall reggae night on a Saturday, and it was great. The room is a very nice size and the sound system was very good. The drink prices for downtown Providence were great, only $4 for a Red Stripe and $8 for a Hennessy drink. read more

Trash. Bathrooms are just awkward. Try squeezing into a door literally 1 ft from the stall while 3 girls in 1 stall with the door open go "shut the door"? Like really I didnt realize women that have easily 10 years on me behaved like 14 year olds. Went here for some weird theme night alice in wonderland shit (didnt intend to) probably like 5 or 6 alices walking around out of the maybe 20 people there. Felt more like a middle school dance than a club. I do have to say the birthday cake shots were very good, just not the crowd. Owners seemed nice as well as bartenders. Super chill spot to see a show. Extremely accommodating staff. Good layout for a music venue. Couches for those that don't want to be on their feet the whole time. Don't expect craft cocktails, but they'll be happy to our you a shot of Jameson. The sound in the room is better towards the front than the back. Definitely will become a staple for me in seeing live music in Providence! read more

This is a great spot for music and it's a wonderful place to be around. They have a wonderful selection of bands playing and fun nights of DJs and music. It's a really nice area and this spot fits right in. When a band is touring, I'll gladly go out of my way to see them if they are playing here. Totally worth the hour and a half drive every time. Would recommend this place to anyone who loves music and unity. read more
