It's a pop-up folk music venue that's currently in a wee church auditorium in Pawtucket, but has changed venues over its 30 years of existence. Stone Soup was named for the folk tale in which a traveler wanders into a town, and when he's denied food he starts stirring a pot of "stone soup" consisting of a stone and water. The townspeople are curious and he tells them one at a time that he just needs a bit of garnish, a carrot, etc. until the community coming together makes a legit delicious soup. Perfect name for an organization that's entirely volunteer operated - all for the music - down to the subsidized Coffee Exchange coffee. Put somethin' in the pot and catch some great acoustic tunes.

The theatre opened in 1915 as a vaudeville theatre and later became a cinema and concert venue. I have been to the Strand several times for concerts and live shows. It's a small venue with a busy calendar and very expensive concessions. It used to be called Lupo's until 2017 when it was renamed the Strand. The few times I've been, the shows have not started on time and they are not very good telling you what the delay is about....nevertheless, it's a place for live music for young and old to get entertained.

Myrtle, which I think is one of the coolest bars I've ever seen (it has its own in-house boutique!) was packed this morning. They served a $15 brunch which looked great but, since I had just eaten breakfast, I chose to forego and enjoyed a delicious Irish coffee ($12) instead. This might be my go-to bar from now on. It turns out this 750-seat auditorium hosts all kinds of events--concerts, lectures, movie screenings, dance competitions, and more. The space is modern and understated, no frills, with a clean interior and very comfortable seating. There's a small entry foyer with concessions, including snacks, water, and even alcohol. The staff were friendly and helpful, though there was a bit of a hiccup with the ticket scanners at the start. Thankfully, they sorted it out quickly and were great about helping us find our section. For this event, seating was open across several tiers, which gave us a chance to explore and settle where we felt most comfortable. Staff were visible throughout the evening, helping guests find restrooms and keeping things running smoothly without being disruptive. There's free parking in a couple of adjacent lots, plus plenty of street parking. It was fairly chaotic pulling out of there after the show as it had a small footprint but there were staff outside working to assist the flow of traffic. The venue is also fully accessible, which is always great to see. I'd absolutely attend another event here!

If you're looking for a great cocktail in a cozy little bar, however, you're in the right place. The cocktail menu is excellent. There are a lot of creative options that go well beyond the standard collection of Old Fashioneds, Margaritas, and Martinis you'll find at most bars. The drinks are imaginative without becoming gimmicky, and the combinations we tried were really well balanced and interesting. You can tell there is some serious thought behind the cocktail program, and it makes ordering something new a lot of fun. Our waitress was fantastic as well. My wife ordered a drink that apparently isn't something every bartender is familiar with, so our waitress went back to the bartender to ask about it. The prices are also quite reasonable for the quality of the drinks. You're obviously paying cocktail-bar prices rather than dive-bar prices, but I didn't feel like we were being taken advantage of. Considering the creativity and quality of what we were drinking, I thought the prices were perfectly fair. I'm actually a little annoyed that I went this long without knowing The Eddy existed. Providence has so many cocktail bars that you can spend years here and still keep discovering places you've somehow walked past a hundred times.
