Notable exceptions: - There's a bartender (with a relentless plumbers crack) who puts everyone's credit cards in his mouth upon being handed them--for no reason whatsoever. Yuck! - That same bartender was making some drinks and squeezing lemon/lime with his hand, letting it run all the way down his arm where it dripped off his elbow into the glasses. The staff is unfailingly friendly, the drinks are generously poured, and the clientele is generally warm and approachable.

This gay bar is cute. I wasn't a big fan of the stereotypical techno beats they were playing. It seemed to be the same beat over and over again. No one was really dancing. It's definitely an older crowd compared to the Ego which has the 18 year olds. There's a weird sex room that's more like a sex hallway. The bathrooms are red so you can't shoot up since you can't see your veins. And everyone just seems to stand around and socialize with each other. So it serves its purpose as a bar. There wasn't anything that really stood out to me for a Saturday night. The drinks were good abs everyone was friendly. read more

A vintage, 70s & 80s style leather bar right in the middle of providences gay neighborhood. Definitely an older crowd, a little small but if you're into the leather scene this is definitely the spot for you. Very different than the other gay bars in providence and more of a niche' audience but I've enjoyed it all the times I've visited. read more

d like to start off by saying my partner and i were regular customers at the eagle .try to make a long story short. a couple weeks ago we didn't have much money but went to get a couple drinks, but this one time we couldn't afford a tip. RICK approached us and was very belligerent, and yelling calling us cheap fucks with his middle finger in my partners face. He told us to leave,we didn't do anything wrong. It was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. He isn't even deserving of tip, he leans on one end of the bar and never asks if we need another drink when our glasses are empty, and we're not the only one's he does that to. I changed my review on Google to one star and left basically what I'm saying to you In the comments. All this caused me to have a major extreme anxiety attack. I Almost went to the hospital it was so bad. He should be fired for this EDIT: The owner contacted me and was very nice and apologetic and is addressing the situation. So we stumbled upon this place by accident. It used to be the Dark Lady which was a gay club. The curb appeal wasn't too welcoming because it was dark. I was curious since I was a walking by and decided to stop in. Once we walked in, it was a really dark bar with pool tables and cages. It was on the smaller side. There were only two patrons at the bar. The bartender was awesome, he was friendly. I decided to get a beer, the drinks were cheap there. One funny thing was, they had hardcore gay porn on the televisions lol. We were mildly uncomfortable with it but we still had a good time. I'm glad to experience this place! Well....this was one hell of an experience, even on a rainy, Monday night. I dropped in around 8pm ish. It was dead but still one of the most interesting vibes I've ever witnessed (in a good way). Maybe 6 other people there, one of them decided to get completely naked to play pool. No one said a word, in fact, others played a whole game of pool with him. I know this sounds insane and It was, he literally had on nothing but boots. In addition to that, there is porn playing on the tv screens. This isn't for everyone but if your an adult and you're easily bored with typical establishments with typical people, this is your spot! The other patrons were normal...and clothed lol, they also had great convo, had normal jobs (from what they told me) and were also un phased by a random naked local playing pool. Nothing stuck up or pretentious about the crowd but also not creepy. The drinks were great, the bartender is nice and this was a great time. Try it....the drinks were decently priced! read more

I'm writing this review while trying my best to remain black and white about my first experience. But I feel that this first experience is worth noting as I would hate for another fellow LGBTQ brother or sister to feel subjected to a similar first pride experience. So my friends and I decided to make a stop at this place after being overcrowded out by the Ego Block party. After paying 20 bucks for admission we got in and absolutely enjoyed the place for a few minutes until we decided to go to the bar side and grab drinks. I usually try to be an easy going person when it comes to ordering something from the bartender and was planning on asking the bartender to serve whatever they still had but was immediately told they ran out of mixers and booze while there were still full bottles of Bombay Safire, and pineapple juice cocktail mixers behind the same bartender who told us "we cannot serve you guys, sorry." Our friend group walked five feet away to huddle and figure out what should we do next and immediately saw the leather daddies behind us handed drinks quicker than anyone can climax. It was then that all five of us 25 year olds ultimately came to the conclusion that we felt discriminated or maybe less prioritized. Nonetheless I would advise to go while keeping in mind that you may experience the "No Fats femmes or queer" experience that you run into on Grindr, scruff and manhunt profiles....this is not to discourage anyone to go so by all means if any reader feels different then please feel free and support everything pride stands against. The only highlight was the lady who gave me a cigarette to bum off. Thanks lady! But it's pretty sad when chick fil-a commits to serving everyone as equals more than an actual gay bar does. The irony right? It isn't to say that this was truly an issue based on preference on who they want to serve but there are a few given factors that contributed to the validity of how my group of friends felt in regards to this. 1. This is a bar known for catering to mostly the leather daddy, masculine and scruffy bear scene. All of these things were something my friends do not fit the mold of. We all do look young but security prior to entrance did prescreen and assign people wristbands that validated legal age to drink. 2. We were all over 21 and the bartender who decided to decline us told us the unfortunate news and immediately walked away after. 3. It was when we walked away that another bartender was still seen serving drinks to all the men behind us. 4. There were two girls in front of us who managed to be served drinks from a bar tender who we visibly saw reach underneath a noticeable fully stocked supply of alcoholic bottles, the SAME BARTENDER who told us they ran out. 5. Fishbowl drinks were being served to every man who were in line behind us. I'd like to give a place some benefit of the doubt but given the visual circumstances that we witness and seen happen in this place, it seems hard to dismiss what's already been known as an issue in the lgbtq community of the over admiration and better treatment and attention of masculine men over the counter parts. UPDATE: I received a response from one of the staff on this review who advised me to lighten up, and assumes I made this review and single handedly pointed to just me as blowing this out of portion. I would like to re-iterate again since I mentioned it above that this is from the experience of not only me but 5 others. I'm just basically sharing my experience along with others from the night this review was posted. Obviously places are going to be busy, and service will be slow so it's understandable. But to find a staff commenting on this review and making a confident claim of me needing to relax because I am blowing it out proportion especially given the fact that this staff was not there to even notice it is pretty ridiculous. To have now been disrespected not once, but now twice, and this time in a form of gaslighting goes to show the type of character, and business you support when you attend one of their events. I guess I should now give a fair review based off the response this bar staff gave me. So here's my updated review as "forcibly" being persuaded by this bar staff.....The bar is apparently the best thing to happen. It must be so great that even the staff will try and claim "your full of it" on other yelp visitor comments experience if your review doesn't fit their narrative. Another update. It seems that even management can not perform their job without inputting their personal feelings. So to make sure this manager is happy, I'll give him some publicity and post the screen shots of his previous comments and this comment now on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and tumblr just to let everyone know that this is the face and manager of a bar that can't handle criticism. read more

This Eagle is the most incredible Eagle bar in America and I have been to quite a few Eagles! The bartenders are very generous with their pours and it's reasonable priced.Most of the bartenders are great guys and the owner Mickee is a gem. I spent many wonderful evenings here and it's the only bar I have ever missed. I now live in California and have to journey to San Fransisco for a quality bar like the Eagle. The Eagle is by far my favorite gay establishment in Providence. The bartenders are so friendly and each have an awesome personality. Wednesday nights are a great time to go for a low key karaoke night. Weekend events offer great scene events and guest DJs. In the spring/summer the block parties are always a fun time where the intersection of Snow Street and Weybosset are closed for Eagle patrons. I always enjoy a chill night here with a strong vodka soda and playing pool. Others will gladly come play a game with you. Since then, I have met the staff, have visited a couple other times, I have witnessed what they do for the community, and I have seen there never ending ability to out do themselves event after event. Being someone who has been to NY clubs and Fort Lauderdale/Miami clubs, I am in awe of what Providence Eagle offers. Small city, huge and spectacular nightlife!!! Nothing compares. I just wanted to say....after not going to the Eagle for almost 2 years, I decided to give it a shot again and wow was very impressed from my last visit a few years back. I would ss there's a new bar manager, Reggie. What a difference he is making...I walked in and it smelled clean and fresh and just appeared all around cleaner. Woah. This Eagle makes the Boston Eagle look like... well, it can't get WORSE than the Boston Eagle. :( I have NO idea what was going on in that dark corner in the back, but it smelled lively! Another benefit to the dark corner is you can't see anyone's face, which is a nice alternative to seeing the SAME people at the Boston Eagle for the past 5 years. :(! The bartenders were cool, and they weren't wearing white Skechers and high waisted Lee jeans, so that was a nice change. Someone I dragged to the Eagle once said it was "the sketchiest gay bar I've ever been to" .. though he was quite vanilla. Sure its sketchy with its dark (pitch black!) corners, odd smells, bad porn, sketchy looking gents leering at you all night long, the occasional shirtless bartender with BACNE...etc etc. But all that adds up to WINNING!! So I had some time to rest up from a long week of RI pride. I would have to say the best weekend ever I would say. I have been to the providence eagle many time and all ways have a fun time when I go. The past weekend Friday June 14 I was in town for pride and made a stop at the providence eagle block party on Friday night. There was a drag show and a special guest Big Dipper. On Sat night party want on again. Me and some of my friends I meet in town want to the eagle. The cover was not to high to get in to the event. As we walk up to the bar to order a drink from some of the sexy bartenders working there. We was greated with and as what we would like to drink. We Did not wait long at all in line for a drink and the drinks was on point. The music that night fill the air with the light show coming from the stage and the sexy go go dancers dancing all night long as well as the shot boys this was the night to remember. If I can say anything about the eagle I would tell all my friends to go and check it out this is the place to be for events and big night to meet old or new friends and everyone is so nice there read more
