Came here to see the Brown University Poler Bears (the Brown and RISD pole dancing student group) perform and had a great time! The venue is small and intimate and has two poles for performers. Drinks were nice and strong, although a little heavy on the lime. Limited seating so you better dance! Had a great time and would definitely come back here! Caveat there's not much in the way of parking so you either pay for lot parking or walk awhile. Also, security checks your bag and ensures you don't have a water bottle. read more

A great place to dance that's a little less crowded than some of the other clubs in Providence. It's very small but that gives it a more friendly, intimate feel. Great music almost always and also a really great mirror/bathroom area. Puts on really good drag shows as well. read more

Small and chaming (except the statue in the front door!). Providence knows the gay scene; size truly doesn't matter in the this case. Been going here for 7+ years and it has sustained it's magic. It might even have amped things up if anything. Just as a heads up, this place has inexpensive (but strong!) drinks with talented pole dancers! This was my first and probably last time at this bar. Pros It was supposed to be a block party with a drag show. The show was inside and the drag queens were amazing. The bar has a lot of great decor to look at. The best was the penis door handles. The bartenders worked fast and accurate. The music was great. Cons bathroom is disgusting. The place is so small for the amount of people packed inside. They cater to men entertainment wise and have nothing for women to look at. The so called block party was just a bunch of people sitting on the ground outside smoking cigarettes. Drinks are expensive so little alcohol in such a small cup. If you want a trashy gay bar where people are having sex in the dirty bathroom then go to the Dark Lady. read more

I'll give a 4 star rating because I have known and admire the owners for over 20 years, and the bartenders are awesome. What I don't like is this one person (that is always dressed in drag) that works as part of the front door staff harrasses me and talks down to me every time that I go to the Dark Lady and he is quick to throw me out every single time. This person is the reason why I will never go to the Dark Lady again as long as he works there, and that hurts because everyone else that works there is so great! I haven't been to The Dark Lady in years. I was a regular patron back in the 3 dollar show days. I miss the old version of the club but I absolutely love what they did with the renovation and expansion of the club. It's spacious, clean and affordable for providence night life. the staff make everyone feel incredibly welcome and safe. The music is great and the giant disco ball and stage lights really transform the space. Also, if your into Where's Waldo then please know I found him here and he is doing well. read more

Incredible drag shows and next-level sense of family

I rather unexpectedly came upon this club and it was such a good spot. I saw their booth at the Providence Art Festival and got a bangin' sangria! So that's what I ordered ($6) and it was super yummy. The dancers were so talented I was blown away. There was an awesome drag show amongst it all and one brilliant singer had some serious pipes!! (I wish I'd caught her name). I felt really safe here as a queer space and I would be comfortable and excited to come here again. read more

BAD BUSINESS IN DOWNTOWN PROVIDENCE!!!! The Dark Lady in Providence, Rhode Islanddvertised that last night (7/27/13) they would be hosting a "Super Soaker Block Party" untill 3AM. Several of my friends and I headed there around1:45AM and paid a $10.00 admission to get in... Only to be told they were closing down for the night. There was no emergency and everyone was a little confused as to what was going on. There were hundreds of people there, inside the bar and on the blocked off street infront of the building. After speaking with the manager, we were told that they were intending to stay open omly until 2AM and that their advertising company had produced a misprint. However, we came to this event due to several Facebook posts promoting the new time (see below). Approximately 8 of us requested our money back due to the misinformation leading us to head to the Dark Lady late night after leaving another bar that closed at 2AM. The manager rudely told us that it was not his problem and that there was no way we would reimurse our money that we had paid several minutes before hand. The bartenders had already called last call... So most of us were not even allowed the opportunity to buy a drink. The manager's decision to blatenly disregard his establishment's mistake and refusal to make it right showed deplorable customer service and a lack of respect for us individuals who have supported gay business in Providence, such as this, during such a dynamic and influential time in our state. This is BAD BUSINESS in Providence and I know my friends and I will not be returning!!! read more

During my weekend visit here, I left Alley Cat and was seduced by the music and lights. Caved in and went in. A $10 fee to get in and it is WELL worth it! We entered the place in the middle of a Drag show and it was one of the most memorable shows I have ever seen! Great stag, and great dance pole; amazing entertainers! Absolutely a blast. People are focused on dancing and hard! So many smiles and just happiness. DJ played fun favorites for 80s 90s 2000s but not cheesy or overly done. Also some more recents. Just great vibe where you can let loose and we can't wait to go back! This place is a dump. I would definitely not call it a club. More like a high school gymnasium. The drag is just that, a drag. Not much will get you on RuPaul's Drag Race here other than some burn marks and scars from all the cheep wasted tile and sale stock they got at the Home Depot to build this place. There's nothing modern, imaginative or contemporary about this place. The staff is rude and over confident in their abilities. The music is dated and also waaaay too many straight girls for a gay club. There's a very unsettling vibe here, like the fung shui is off. Too much attitude for a rather subpar space. The same people that claimed to only go to the "Third Floor at Mirabar" are they same people that now go to the Alley Cat next door. It's all the same trash. I went here for my first time going to a club. My friend suggested it so we went. My ID had been expired and they worked with me on that which was super cool of them. The first place we went to was the bar and I had never ordered a drink before and the bar tender was VERY helpful. He helped me figure out flavors and things I liked/didn't like. Always a good time here. they play great music on friday and saturday night, the bar tenders are fun fast and friendly. also the drag show on saturday nights is always a good time. they have great performers. there are always pretty popular drag queens there too like sabrina blaze and kitty litter. also the pole dancers amazing. i think everything is well priced, and the location is convenient, right in the heart of downtown providence. i like how its connected to to the alley cat next door if you need a more relxaing environment. love this place =) read more
