Terrible bar tender. Unfriendly for no reason and overcharged for drinks adding on additional fees. Stay far away!

Let start by saying that I have never been treated so friendy as a traveler by all bartenders. Wonder place and so clean even the restroom. I will be back in the city in April and will be sure to stop there several times. It may be a smaller bar but it should be check out if you are in the city. Thanks! read more

I LOVE the stable especially in the summertime when you can sit on the benches outside in the back. It's very long and narrow so there's not much room to dance, but if you're looking for a place to just hangout, talk and drink the stable is perfect. read more

I love this bar. As a straight couple we come with a few single gay friends. It's always warm and inviting. Very tasteful as well. They make THE BEST sangria, EVER! It's on the small side but they do have a patio out back. Do yourself a favor and come try sangria, and dance the night away to great music. read more

Thanks for making a bunch of CA gays feel at home. Nothing in particular stood out about this place but it was everything I want from a local gay bar. Full of cute boys, good drinks, cute bar tenders and an outdoor patio. Also a dancey vibe with the huge tv screen playing music videos. I was one of maybe two trans folx there besides the friends I came with, and while it wasnt a place specifically for my crowd i felt completely welcome and safe. Great neighborhood bar catering all walks of life. There's a patio in the back that is open during the warm months. Depending on the day of the week or month, there are drink specials, live shows, nice community events, etc. It can get very crowded and there's not a lot of seating, but a nice place to listen to some nice music and watch some cool videos. read more

Being in the industry in downtown Providence, and former management myself I was appalled. It's one thing to stop serving but it's another thing when the manager (I believe Matt) himself offer's sass and attitude towards a patron. He must've been inebriated. I personally will not recommend this spot. I wouldn't subject anyone to a childish and disrespectful demeanor. Not the vibe... I'd be damned if any staff talked to any of the bar patrons as I witnessed tonight. Food for thought. But check it out, could've just been an off night. read more

In fairness, if I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would. And, sure, I could round up, but I'm not quite a fan yet. And I've been here twice. The Stable is loud, upbeat, and fun, fun, fun. However, the most fun seems to taking place behind the bar. On both occasions I've been there, bartenders galore (no fewer than four) laughed and smiled and delightfully joked around... with each other. On both occasions, my friends and I, and/or other patrons waited a bit too long for service to order our drinks - at times the bartenders are talking to one another on one side of the bar. Just an observation, but a sorta obvious one. The drinks/cocktails themselves are hit or miss, depending on the bartender. Some are expert at making a cocktail, and some whip them up in a rather "Cancun-ish" way, by which I mean way too much alcohol, the kind of drink that leaves a trail of destruction down one's esophagus. To each their own. All this to say... I'll be back. The Stable is lively and fun, and filled with cool, chatty bar goers. And, so many people there were imbibing on the Sangria, that I'm determined to give one a try. Determined, I say. But, yes, three stars for now. read more

Incredibly friendly staff. I moved here a month ago and I've come every day to read my books and made many sweet, lovely friends. Everyone is welcoming and they just want people to have a good time and be friendly with others. Drinks are relatively cheap, and very good quality. No watering down. Nice patio shared with viva Mexico. I bring my cat all the time and everyone has helped her get used to humans and they are very patient. The service was delightful. The servers were amicable and carter to the customer. The drinks were impeccable and delicious. The overall environment was friendly, welcoming, and it's cool to have a LGBTQ bar here in Prov, where we have such a big LGBTQ population/community. 10/10 would recommend! Tell your friends to come with you on a night out. Also, you do not need to be part of the LGBTQ community to come, you can be an ally and support (nonetheless that includes being kind and welcoming to LGBTQ community i.e., be respectful because this is a supposed to be a respectable, safe environment for LGBTQ+)! read more

Good upbeat gay bar located within Downtown Providence. The bar is always booming with people on the weekends and is a great bar to check out if you are LGBTQ, or just want a good drink. The bartenders take your order quick. The only downside is that because there are alot of people sometimes, youd either have to stand. Limited seats at the bar just a forewarning. read more

I don't expect much from a Gay Bar this time of day, but the bartender was more concerned with his "buds" at the other end of the bar than me or any other patron in the place. He politely enough poured me a drink, decent drink. After I finished my drink I set my glass on the rail where it sat for over ten minutes. The bartender came to the center of the bar several times again tending to his apparent friends. Not until another patron came in sitting just a few chairs down from me did the bartender even look at me. Politely enough he offered to make me a drink. Asking for the bill, I paid and left. Bartender never once engaged me with anything more than the cursory greeting and thank you. I maybe be a passing traveler, but somehow I felt more like an inconvenience. Bartenders are pretty rude here, inexperienced with making drinks and have to wait 20 mins for a beer. Very dirty in general. Whole bar was sticky and bathrooms were extremely unsanitary. With groups coming out of them. Definitely one of the low end bars in Providence read more

I'm one of those gays who stay away from 'the scene' as much as possible. Not because I'm against it or anything. I just don't like annoyingly loud clubs packed with 2000 Lady GaGa worshipping twinks. And, most of them have a cover charge which is super tacky. I just don't like clubs; gay or straight. But, occasionally I will give bars a try. So, on NYE, me and my friend were walking from AS220 (amazing place btw. Really bohemian) to the newly opened laid-back hip bar The Salon behind the City Hall. And, we saw people at The Stable having a blast! And, we wanted to give it a try. I heard only great things about it. I have to say, this really is a great place. Mostly a 30+ crowd who obviously came here to have a drink or two and cheer up for NYE with classy (and friendly, not annoyingly loud) drag queens. Bar tenders were SUPER QUICK serving drinks to a quite packed crowd. I was impressed. So, we stayed there for like 30 mins, then wanted to hit other places too. But, after checking out 2-3 bars in the area, no place had the vibe we wanted. So, we went back to The Stable! And, the friendly chubby guy at the entrance said "Honey, y'all are back ? Come on in!" :) If I have to go to a gay bar in the area again, I think I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

Ok...so I completely didn't notice the "gay bar" label when we were yelping for a good place for drinks...which shortly became quite apparent when all of the patrons were male and this bartenders were equally well oiled, tanned, and muscle bound. That being said, this was one of the most interesting bars that I've visited in a long time. The place definitely has a bar/club vibe and it was near immaculate. The drinks were very affordable and there's even a ginormous tv near the end of he bar with awesome 90s music video on the background. This bar has some of the rudest staff I've ever met. They make asking for a drink feel like it's a big inconvenience for them. Aside from having bad attitudes and giving poor customer service, the "sangria" that everyone talks about was awful. The bathrooms were also pretty gross and it wasn't even 9 o'clock. The cherry on top of being in this small brick dungeon, would have to be watching the obese bartender hit on a group of very young guys, that clearly weren't interested, and when my friend asked for another drink he replied "I'm busy, you can wait". Went there with a group of gay and straight friends. Bartenders were ok, however the drinks were super weak. My biggest problem was with the patrons. Extremely rude clientele. Groups of 5 or more hogging the bathrooms doing whatever. Young pretty boys with big mouths. A few decided to insult my girlfriend. My friend and I shut that right down, and of course they cowered. It's a nice place to meet up with your friends before going out dancing or whatever. I'd be cautious because either on the off-nights or early in the day, the bartenders are lacking the ability to card when appropriate, leaving underage drinking very easily accessible. The music is ok. The bartenders could be a bit nicer and less prissy and prude. I've had better luck at Dark Lady and Alley Cat. read more

After being away from Providence for 4+ years I finally convinced my husband to go have a drink at this place. A very good friend of mine always spoke highly of it and frequents it often. Personally we are NOT into the "gay bar" scene. This place is great!! It is a nice place for mature people to go! It is NOT a meat market!!! And I am happy to report That NO one (other customers, etc) touched me or tried too do thing I find highly inappropriate and rude!!! I was only stared at while we we there which is fine by me!!! To my surprise I even ran into a very nice man who I have known for years. The drink prices are VERY reasonable and the environment was nice!! Again as I mentioned it is for a more mature crowd! It is NOT a meat market like many "gay" bars. There was a wide variety of patrons at this establishment on the evening we visited. We had a nice night and we will definitely go back!! read more

One word: Sangria!! Stable is a staple of the Providence gay nightlife scene. If you want to have a good night, you start your evening there. It's always a great crowd and the staff is amazing, lead by the one and only Michael S. The only thing I don't like is on a weekend when it gets super busy, you end up being shoulder to shoulder. I personally don't enjoy the proximity to others but it's always worth it with a group of your friends! I try to make it at least once a week!! read more

New owners and new bartenders. Bartenders are more concerned about how they look then actually serving drinks. It was a Tuesday night, Not busy. I sat at the bar and watched them ignore a customer. One bartender was flirting with a patron. He told the customer he would be right with him then walked away and continued flirting. The other bartender was gossipping with the barback. After ten miutes of being ignored the customer called to the bartender. The bartender was annoyed that he was interrupted by customer. Bartenderd are supposed to pour drinks. This guy and his friends ended up walking out. We later saw them at the Alley Cat. They were being served by Kathy. No need to go to Stable when the Alley Cat, The Dark Lady and the Eagle are just around the corner. BTW - the bartenders sticking their bottle openers into their speedos is kind of gross. read more

AMAZING customer service. They are so friendly and accommodating. The sangrias are all FABULOUS! Besides that, the customer service overall is perfect. I had a question about a charge on my card and I called the bartender and he was extremely helpful and there ended up being no problem at all, which shows how organized they are!
