How am I a native RIer who had never been to The Met for a show before? Hey Ninteen drew me in. The facility definitely gave me Coney Island freak show vibes inside. It was probably the hand painted art inside with red curtains adorning them. I have to day the photos were quite captivating. Makes the place seem more inviting. The guys at the front were nice. I was rocking Malibu and pineapple all night. Heavy handed with the pour, thanks, but still had flavor. The show was set up with chairs. Thanks for the option but I wanted to stand. People did what they wanted but it was nice that a dance floor area right in front of the stage was left open for when Kid Charlemagne hit! Large bathroom, pretty clean. 2 bars and a little entry way for long lines getting in or a smoking area. Great size for an intimate show. read more

This is a nice medium sized venue to see a live band. In the summer, the patio is a nice place to escape from the crowds and music for a few. My gripe? Charging $7 bucks for a mixed drink served in a tiny plastic cup? Underwhelming for sure. I guess stick with beer! If you want an actual seat - get there early! There are limited tables available. Otherwise, join the standing room only crowd near the stage. This place has been renovated since it's hey days as The Blackstone - they now have dedicated restrooms not far from the stage instead of having to go out into the hallway like years before. By far one of the best music venues in Rhode Island. I favor this version of The Met over the original location in downtown providence. though the shows were epic the original Met the venue was small and cramped and had 0 nearby parking. This location has a huge dance floor/general admission section. they have 2 bars and have tables with seating that line the walls of the venue. they also have a coat check and accessible restrooms. I love that it's helped bring life back into the old factories around the city. this venue is a nice addition to the hope artisan village. Parking can be limited during peak hours, but it's foot traffic friendly if you live in oak hill section of the city and it's definitely uber/lyft approved. read more

I was booked to perform a show at The MET and was at the bar to buy a drink. On the taps they had a display of beers I had never heard of. The bar tender asked me what beer I wanted so I grabbed the IPA can and as soon as I touched it and set it on the counter the "security guard" and what appeared to be the owner grabbed me and said "that's it your out of here for stealing" I explained why I touched it and he had a nasty attitude. As he started to drag me I responded " You better be licensed and bonded if you're going to touch me- or get your hands off of me" He immediately let go and continued to yell and act aggressive towards me. I walked away and requested payment from the promotor for my performance. When I went back to the bar to talk to the bar tender who I had been tipping and buying beers from all night you could tell she agreed with me but was afraid to openly express her opinion as it was her place of employment. I will never be back to this venue due to the aggressive treatment and accusation made based on nothing. read more

Is the Met the best live music venue in RI? I think so. The inside is spacious & there's even a lounge area to sit if you'd like There are two bar areas that have a little more than your usual beer selection & prices are reasonable. Bartenders aren't pretentious & it doesn't seem too long a wait for drinks. The stage area is easy to view from almost any spot inside. It's intimate without seeming cramped & the sound is great. They seem to book an interesting mix of national acts. So far I've only made it up for the Hold Steady & Lucero but I want to come back. If only i lived closer. I've lived in The Live Music Capital (Austin, TX) & this is the closest venue I've been to in the northeast that makes me feel like I'm back in Austin. The Met gets it right in every way & even has the cleanest bathrooms of any venue I've frequented which has to count for something! read more

Oh Met....I was never old enough and/or allowed to go to any of your prior incarnations, but I like what ya have to offer here and now. When you enter, you either can go straight to the bar or bang a left to the stage. Once you learn where the stage is, in all honesty this is one of the better set ups for a venue around. No such thing as a bad seat in the house, as the stage is against the same wall as the entrance and you have to crawl along the back wall and those sitting to find the rest rooms. the met understands some folks might want to sit, and they have corralled areas specifically for that. The rest rooms still sort of smell like whatever industrial products were used to assemble/finish/paint them, but besides that are scores better than those at other venus in providence (especially, you lupo's) usually the sound system is competent and doesn't allow the crowd to overwhelm the act, with the exception of tonight, but truly I think tonight's act (Against Me!) is the sort of band that one doesn't see unless they will be pouring their heart out along with screaming all the way. Drinks are good- they also take cards but on busy nights will be a bit reluctant too and may require your id as well. read more

So this place is owned by the same guy who owns Lupos, right? I'm pretty excited for what acts he brings on over to Pawtucket. Came in here for lunch earlier this week. I was their first ever order for the oven, and as it turned out, the oven didn't work. So long chicken pot pie! I opted into the cobb salad. It was a masterpiece really. Unfortunately, the honey dijon dressing was way too strong for my liking. However, the salad itself was so spectacular that I'd get it again and maybe just substitute the dressing for ranch. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a good amount of it. They really took what the Blackstone used to have in that spot and made it better. And they added bathrooms! Service was great. Since they're new to food, they wanted to make sure we were happy with everything we were eating. I didn't have the heart to tell them that my soda was flat and the dressing was nearly toxic, but I'm sure they'll sort it out. We did afterall come in for the first lunch they ever served. Oh right, and my boyfriend's steak sandwich was delish. read more

Good spot to catch live music. Big enough space for a larger crowd, but small enough to provide for a great acoustic set. Two bars with a great selection of adult beverages. Other reviews have commented on cost, but I found that the pour was such that I didn't mind a $9 patron and tonic. Service was ok, not the fastest or friendliest, but adequate. They have table seating and elevated table seating providing for a mostly uninterrupted view of the stage. The only downside would be the many support beams throughout, yet sound was awesome from anywhere in the venue. read more

Great place to see live music up close! Full selection of draft beers and there are many places to hang out at tables or you can easily get stage-side and rock next to the band. We went to see Makeout on a Sunday night and they sounded amazing! Nothing like a smaller venue to get the gritty, live experience. If Makeout strikes it big, it will be awesome to know that I met the band members (who were very friendly and hung out to watch the earlier bands) and saw them on their way up. Good luck! read more

Based on the reviews...I was somewhat uneasy coming to a show here as I am not a club person Persay. The parking was easy..Street and lot parking with no problem. I had will call and they simply had a list of names..No waiting for tickets to print or things to process (if you had an e-ticket they simply scanned your phone). The bars were on either side of the room and the lines moved quick. I really liked the raised seats and tables in the back if you chose not to get scrunched in with the crowd. The security and workers were all top notch and friendly..No issues here. The four stars you ask? Poles..Poles and more poles..Unless you were scrunched..You didn't have a clear view. The ceiling leaked on the stage, one of the band members referred to his spot as a slip n slide. read more

Anyone who knows Providence knows the battle of epic proportions that is obtaining a live entertainment license from the city and maintaining it in good standing. As a teenager, I grew up in Lupo's, the Strand, the Met Café, Babyhead, and the Living Room. Now we just have Lupo's at the Strand, which is also the Roxy on some nights - and that's just weird. The performance community has been feeling a hole in its heart that could only be filled by a medium-sized venue.... ....Luckily, the owners of Lupo's have come through for us live music loving heathens. The Met has officially re-reincarnated itself for the third time, this time in the Hope Artiste Village where the new Blackstone use-ta be. The new site is not downtown, but right over the Providence line in the Bucket. [Thank you, Pawtucket city leadership, for committing to the concept that music and the arts can be a vital part of the city.] I went last Friday to meet some friends and kick it old school at Max Creek (can you say hippies, boys and girls?). There was ample parking in the lot behind the building, which can feel sketchy and too dark if you are alone, but there is always street parking to be found if you're patient. Before getting in, I had to sidestep the hoards of peeps waiting to get outside to smoke a cigarette. Apparently, they have a no re-entry policy at the Met, which is expected, but they also don't have a designated area for smokers, which is a huge faux pas. This means that anyone who wants to smoke has to get some sort of ticket from the doorman, and they only give out a certain amount at a time. Hence the bottle-neck of people waiting to greet me at the door. Not awesome. A policy and practice worth reviewing, methinks. Once I paid the piper (no plastic at the door - again, old school), I was pleasantly greeted by a fully-renovated space that is a vast improvement on the former Blackstone's lay out. They moved the stage so it is the focal point of the room and no longer stuffed in the corner (duh). They put in two separate bars on opposite ends of the club, lined the back of the club with a slightly risen area with great sightlines for tables and chairs, and they miraculously put bathrooms IN THE CLUB (once again, duh). The piece de resistance: the walls are covered by the artwork that used to grace the exterior of Lupo's - Janice, Jim Morrison, and two-headed Elvis just like they once were. I was officially hearkened to teenage bliss. The sound was great, the place was full, and the bouncers were donning the classic red Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel t-shirts. The new Met feels eerily like the old Lupo's on Westminster - and I love it. They have food, too! read more

With an epic crosswind of the arts, the booming Providence/Pawtucket music scene forged this heavenly hideaway right into the hearts of concert goers and musicians alike. Without a shout of a doubt, this is my favorite concert venue that lil' Rhody has to offer. The key phrase to paint a picture of the lineup here? Absolute and profound diversity. For a shotgun blast of musical affinity such as myself, with tastes ranging from jazz to metalcore (and every subgenre of electronic & folk in between), this place always has a continual appeal to all ends of the palate. I've skanked to Bad Larry, moshed to Senses Fail, sang along to Chadwick Stokes, banged my head to local punk, and sat down to enjoy a mellow night of beautiful folk at this unbelievably multi-purpose haven. Aesthetically (and acoustically) the venue itself could not be more perfect for the purpose it serves. Two sizable bars line the open-floor layout of the GA, standing room-centric hall. Along the back walls there are also a slightly raised selection of tables, for those low key nights and time out from over-moshed fatigue naps. I'd probably put this size at a small-medium gauge, with is perfect for the acts that they draw. Any sizeably big names that would draw an overflow typically pop over to Lupo's downtown. This venue is absolute junk. The people don't care about customer service, and even though i emailed them and called them twice I did not get any response at all and considering thta they have no voicemail they just don't want your phone call. The sound system wasn't very impressive, I heard it more outside then inside. The stage and lightshow is just awful and extremely cheap. People smoke inside (weed included) and no one even cares. Lastly the preformance was so bad that I left 1.5 hours into the concert it was clear that the entire venue was old, disorganized, and unprofessional. I could give them a gift of 2 stars if they would have had something good in the place but in summary if you are looking for a nice venue don't look at the met read more

Flew in from Florida to catch the two Daughters reunion shows on Friday, September 13th, 2013 and Sunday, September 15th, 2013. A very tightly ran operation in terms of set times and lengths. A few locations around the venue had a list posted for each band that read something like this. 9:00 - 9:20 / Power Masters, 9:45 - 10:20 / Deleted Arrows, 10:40 - 11:10 / Doomsday Student, 11:30 - 12:30 / Daughters Times were spot on. I really wish more venues would do this. Then again, back in Florida, venues are really laid back so there's usually not much of a schedule for anything really. Could be the norm for New Englanders. I expected the stage to be a little bigger for a venue that can hold the capacity of six hundred. But it seemed to fit the five (six, by the end of the night) Daughters members fine. Cleanest bathrooms I've ever been into at any sort of club / venue / concert hall. That includes the multi-billion dollar arenas that house suited men in ties exchanging paper towels for tips. Again, this just might be the norm in New England. Back in Florida, the bathrooms start out rough and by the end of the night they've been brutalized. If someone were to vomit in one of them, it'd probably remain until the night night (or show). Another thing that I'm not use to is the dozen plus pillars. They're a safe haven if you want to get insanely close to the stage and not get beat up if it's a rowdy crowd. Just snuggle up to one of them with your side and hold out your forearm and you're ready to go. If you're not up close or in the center of the venue, the pillars really get in the way of your view of the stage. Very good sound set-up. Sounds amazing all the way in the back next to the sound booth. Sounds good up front, but it gets a tad bit distorted. That's most venues though so it's not too big of a complaint. In the very back on each side there's a nice sized elevated part with chairs and tables and a metal banister / rails blocking it off from the main floor. Second night I was here, some guy with crutches decided to try and jump over the banister from the main floor onto the elevated section. Either his bad foot got caught on the rail or his crutch did, but he did not make it at all. He ended up slamming face first into a table and then his back onto the two chairs near it. He was on the ground for a good five minutes barely moving before the crowd watching helped him up. Staff seemed fine to me. They let some guy in the second night with a video camera and he filmed Daughters entire set. Would really love a copy of that footage if by chance you're reading this. Anyway, none of the bouncers were breaking up the kids starting mosh pits or throwing anyone out for stage diving. That's just the kind of audience Daughters has. read more

My first trip here. I'm a huge instantaneous fan. As far as performance spaces go this place does everything right. Gonna go ahead and make a bold statement and say this is probably the best venue in the region. I look forward to seeing many more shows here. \m/ Something occurred to me last night that I hadn't noticed in previous trips, and that's that this club is quite large. Not really a problem but it made this particular show feel under attended. I miss the days when Providence had a couple of venues in the 50-100 capacity range. We had Club Hell for a while and what a shame that place didn't make it. The previous Met couldn't have help much more than 50. 75 tops. Still love this place but this particular show would have been much better in a smaller venue. Bands will stop playing here if we don't have a club that can suit capacity needs. How can this place have no reviews? One of the best music venues in RI! Great beer and drink selection, amazing sound and sound techs, reasonable cover charges, lots of tables and seats, and ample parking. This one of the only true music venues left in the area in that it has an actual stage and good acoustics. It is set up a lot like the old Lupos was (before it moved into the Strand) and is run by the same guy. And the new hipster bowling alley is in the same building so you can make a nice long night out of it. The shows also tend to end a bit earlier than other spots which is nice if you are not keen on staying out until 2am to see a band. read more

Most of the more affordable music venues I've been to in Providence have such a skeeze factor that I am reluctant to see even my favorite bands, even if they are free..this was not the case with The Met this past weekend. I found it to be roomy, clean,(even the bathrooms), and thought the acoustics were good. The fact that it's in Pawtucket is a slight bummer, but an advantage with parking. I was completely blown away by the service. Not in a good way..I encountered a really cracked out/drunk girl outside. She seemed only capable of saying "I don't care" over and over. Imagine my surprise when she got up, tossed her smoke, and said she had to go back to work! They sure do hire some winners. I'll be back probably. read more

Saw Minus The Bear at The Met last night. I think I went to the old Met years and years ago for Phantom Planet. New one was kind of like Lupo's, which I guess also moved. Man, Providence, your music venue scene is confusing. Anyway, The Met was a pretty decent venue... lots of space, and I was able to watch the band from the back bar and have a pretty great view. Now waiiiiiiiit a minute - - - you know you make me wanna SHOUT! OOOOoooooooooOOOoooooo! Yes indeedy-do - I was throwin' my hands up and SHOUTin' along with the rest of the ecstatic crowd at the recent Fitz & the Tantrums show (April 19th). The line was wrapped around the building (I was wishing that some of the farmers market food trucks were around!) but after being carded and banded (about 20min after doors) - we were inside the mid-sized venue! Very hip: old wood floors, steel beam-and-column, and a good wide area for the stage for better viewing. First stop: one of the two bar stations! Beer available on tap ('Ganset!), and both have a full bar for the sippin'! My tequila and coke was in a teeeeeeeny dixie cup (MAYbe 8oz), but our beer+mixed only cost about $12 total and my drink was more of a DRAAAAANK, if you know what I mean ;-) Once the band got started and everyone was bouncing....I notice something else moving: the floor. Like a little buoy on the waves, I hopped along to the tune to distract myself from my uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and hoped that the 19th wouldn't be "the wrong time" kind of evening. Never fear! That is why there are occupancy laws (the crowd was never in any danger, but it was a little unnerving to suddenly be too familiar with the bouncing of the crowd). HEEEEeeeEEEEeeeeey! Yes - the Met is a fan.tast.ic local venue for small shows! The view is always great! The ticket prices are usually lower (~$20) and you'll probably get to meet the band (the Met is perfect for bands who want to develop a relationship with the crowd). One of my favorite places to catch a show. Intimate setting, great sound, friendly staff and CLEAN!! I love how close you are to the stage. There's no bad spot in the house! Conveniently located just outside of Providence and just off the highway, the most difficult part is the parking... But it's FREE! And they get great artists! Not to mention, it's located in Hope Artiste Village, a great venue to check out a variety of emerging artists, local merchants and the spectacular wintertime farmers market. read more

Very clean looking, great stage area, roomy with some tables in the back. 2 bars on either side of the club and a nice area to sit outside if you aren't watching the particular act that's on. The Met is a solid venue. As a kid, some of the first shows I ever went to were in Providence at Lupos and The Living Room *pour some out * (remember Vanna, TREOS and FYS?) I just moved to Providence a few months ago, and I'm pleased The Met is around. It's a big step up from Boston basement shows filled with cigarette smoke. With a real open floor, stage in the middle of the venue, coat rack and two bars on either side, it's probably the nicest venue in the area that hosts punk shows. Shockingly clean, even the bathrooms are in good shape. Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a good selection considering this is a show space literally in a warehouse. They have tables and chairs lining the perimeter so if you're solo you'll feel comfortable kicking back between sets. Take my word, going to shows alone is fun and it's really easy to do at The Met. Free parking on the street, across the street in a lot, and on most adjacent streets within 3 or 4 blocks #bless. $10 card minimum, no coat check but there is a rack! read more

The way my GPS took me to this venue had me wondering if the address was incorrect. I had to drive through residential areas and I was surprised when a concert venue came up. The street the venue is on did not look like a good neighborhood. Luckily I found street parking close by and got inside safely. I was not happy that I had to walk through the smoking section to get inside the venue. I wish they could've put the smoking section away from the front door. Once I got inside I was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice little concert place. It had a decently sized floor area in front of the stage and a bunch of tables and chairs in the back. I was tired so I was very happy I got to sit. The women's bathroom was fairly clean and had several stalls. This was the kind of place that no matter what you stand you do not have a bad view of the stage. I like that. I had a really good time at the show and I was happy with the venue. My only complaint would be the smell of smoke that overtook the venue at times. Make sure you give yourself time for parking because it wasn't easy. read more

Kind of long but I think it will be worth the read to see some of the things that went on during a show. Short Review: Good bar. Good lighting and sound. Rude owner. Initial experience: The venue itself was not bad for being a small place, although a little confusing to find for the first time. My friend preformed there so I went to watch his show, initially the man at the door was very nice and had no problem with the guest list situation. Bar wise: beer was not over priced but I heard mixed drinks were on the pricey side. Show wise: the sound and lighting was good, the tech crew was very helpful, and security was good about letting guest listed people in the all access area EXCEPT when handing out the backstage wrist bands they had run out and we were one short. We got there early as we were with the DJ of the show. My friend has diabetes and left his insulin bag in the backstage room, he was the one that did not receive a wrist band and was told that he would still be allowed backstage. As we were going backstage security did in fact do his job and did not let him in. We explained the situation and he told us to talk to the woman that ran the club (Again he was just doing his job) as we were talking to the woman, Misty I think her name was, we explained that they ran out of wrist bands and his insulin bag was backstage. He then asked for his wrist band that he was suppose to get in the beginning and explained that he needed his wrist band to go back there in case of an emergency. She immediately, with and attitude, proceeded to tell us that it basically did not matter and if he "needed it that bad" he would wear it. Fast forward to the end of the night we were going to take down the DJ set for our friend as we always do. She, again with an attitude, said "I have three doors, pick one and get out before I kick you out." Mind you the meet and greet session had ended maybe five min beforehand and we had to wait for guests to leave to start taking things down. After taking things down we were putting things in the car and she walks out and yells to us, with attitude again, holding equipment "You all were apparently needed to help yet you forgot this hundreds of dollar piece of equipment" once we told her it was not ours she seemed even more annoyed like we had done something. read more

Really cool venue! First time here the other night to see Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings... loved how close to the stage we were. We didn't drink so I don't know anything about drink prices and quality but everyone seemed to be having a good time. The only complaint I have is that it was SO hot in there. Holy dripping sweat in the middle of February. I hope they have a decent air conditioning unit for summer shows. I'd definitely attend another show here if the opportunity comes up. read more

The Met is a pretty cool venue. It reminds me of a high school auditorium where you would host a dance. The space is excellent acoustically and have plenty of room for crowds, as well as seating toward the back of the room. Drinks are pretty average price, decent beer selection, and reasonably friendly bartenders. That bathrooms could definitely use tending, they smelled pretty atrocious. The fact is, if you know there is a show coming and you're anticipating a big crowd, you should be on point with facilities maintenance. As for the show? It was great. Bleachers played last night. They were friendly, funny, and knew exactly how to work a crowd - - though, Jack Antonoff is no stranger to showmanship. I'd definitely check out another show there, but let's hire the Tidy Bowl man to come in and straighten up the WC's, eh? read more

The Met is my favorite music venue of all. They host a huge variety of musical styles, the raised stage is easily-viewable from every part of the room no matter how packed it is, and there's quite a bit of seating with tables around the edges of the room. Every concert there feels intimate. The area the venue is in isn't the best but doesn't feel unsafe if you park pretty close, which you almost always can. Solid music venue. I attended Narragansett's 120th birthday event here. The bars on either side of the venue made getting a drink easy. The bathrooms were clean and large. There seemed to be some issues with sound for parts of the show, I think it was more to do with the band and not The Met's fault. There was a large decentbeer selection all thought it was limited to 'Gansett product during the event. There was ample parking around the area. I was most impressed by the murals, the hardwood floors and the general feel of the venue. Great venue. read more
