Decent Bar Little hidden bar down the hill on a side street in Pawtuxet Village. A plus is that it is dark, but there is just no atmosphere. They make decent mixers and beers are priced fairly. This place almost has a speakeasy feel, located in the up-and-coming Pawtuxet village settled on a side street with a non-descript door. The atmosphere inside is dark and chill, with low lights, a filled bar and some small tables around the edges. They have a reasonable beer selection, a curated mix of drafts and some bottles and cans along with a number of house cocktails. Of course they have a full bar so you can get anything you want. When someone asks me, "Wanna grab a drink?" This is exactly the place I'm picturing. It's like an upscale neighborhood bar with its share of newcomers and regulars. read more

So looking forward to trying this place. The bartender was fine. She was more concerned with the regulars than me. No one was ordering food at all. At this point I made the decision to leave. I have this theory that it makes more sense to order cocktails rather than wine or beer, since you can always go buy (for much cheaper) the same wine or beer and consume elsewhere. However, it would be much more expense and (hopefully) require skill, that you do not have, to make a cocktail. Therefore, cocktails are a good deal and a smart choice as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I love novelty, therefore I very much enjoy trying something new that someone else (with more skill than I) has put time and effort into perfecting. All that said, I was immensely disappointed to watch my cocktail being made after spending several minutes with the menu, imagining how each drink would look and taste before settling on, what I imagined to be a very good one (Boulevardier), mostly because I don't have any small batch Elijah Craig at home even though I know it's good. When I saw 4 Roses (not a terrible whiskey, but a common one for home bars, mine included) go in, I thought it was someone else's drink, but alas, it was mine. As ridiculous as it may sound, I was also looking forward to the sweet treat of a liquor soaked Luxardo cherry at the end of my drink too. But that too was no where to be found. I would have ordered a different drink had I known that two of the three cocktail elements would be missing or replaced with a lesser ingredient. The bar was not busy and no explanation was provided. Ultimate Dive Bar. This quaint, semi hidden gem is centered in Historic Pawtuxet Village right across from Basta. I stumbled upon this bar almost by accident. After a nice meal at one of the BYOB Thai restaurants, I was looking for one more spot to end the night. There was talk that a new bar occupied this spot, so I decided to check it out. Upon entering, I was mesmerized by the aquatic ambiance and beautiful glossy floors. The bar was new and clean, and alternative music was playing over the speaker. My style to a T. I was given a drink menu, but actually ordered a Knob Creek Old Fashioned, as this at the time had become my new staple. The bartender whom apparently only worked Thursdays at the time was very interactive and made hands down the best old fashion I'd come to grips with. I decided to try a couple of other cocktails on other visits here with much success. Not to mention, the beer list is rather inviting as well. Needless to say, I hesitated to write a review for this place, because I feel of it gets enough attention, the ease of access to a table or spot at the bar will diminish. Don't just take my word for it. Anyway, if you are looking for an interesting change from the norm, check this place out. Hopefully you'll love it as I do. Cheers! read more

I dig it. Okay, it's a bar. That's it. It's not a restaurant. Reminiscent of a speakeasy. This is a small, comfortable place that I would frequent a lot if I lived around there. The bartenders are nice. They serve a good drink. They have a television. One. Nice craft beers and interesting drink offerings. Although on the drink menu the "Dock and Stormy" name has to go. It's not a variation on the Dark and Stormy. Nope, it's just a Dark and Stormy so call it by it's name. It is, however, well made and quite tasty whatever they want to call it. BTW, the other reviewer that's all torqued off about not getting served at 11:40 pm well, try again and maybe go a little earlier. Or check your watch. Maybe it was later. Since I have extreme location bias-- I'm very partial to this great little bar spot. I was surprised with their beer selection as they have more rare releases from breweries outside NE. I have also tried a few mixed drinks and thought they were very well crafted. Reminds me of the Avery, but decorated in a nautical style which fits in perfectly with the neighborhood. My favorite neighborhood bar. Dim lighting, tasteful decor (lovely vintage nautical). Be only come on weeknights and it's always quiet and on the empty side. The drinks are always lovely as is the beer selection. I really hope this place stays around. It would be great to have nautical themed events (yacht rock/ tiki) and not give in to having sports on the TV. I think Providence folks would travel here for a strong unique theme. Not sure what would get the locals out. Definitely a place I'm happy to support and I encourage others whenever I can. read more

I used to go all the time when it was Powers and then Jackie boys. Have been there several times I'm just not a fan of paying $ 8 +tax + a tip for a extremely poor pour for a few sips of wine. They need to realize they're not promoting local customers. It's just ridiculously expensive for a hole in the wall bar. I had three glasses of wine with a very stingy pour, with tip out $32 bucks maybe $35. When it was Jackie Boys the price was $8 which included the tax and you got extremely generous pour. You could go in for an hour or so walkout paying like 20 bucks with the tip! Why would the locals ever go there? I've only seen one or two familiar faces ! read more

Very happy with the PTX Lounge moving into the space. We live off the parkway and now feel we don't have to venture closer to Providence to find really good craft cocktails and a great beer menu. They also have these awesome tin can seafood snacks. Highly recommend the pickled mussels. read more

I walked in at 11:40 tonight. And was told they stopped serving at 12, I figured I could still have one, but I was turned away. Doesn't make much sense to me. I've had a rough day and wanted a drink, I was turned away 20 minutes before they closed while several people had full drinks in front of them. That's pretty crappy. So not impressed. Yes, they turned it into a nicer space inside. Yes, fancier cocktails. Yes, interesting nautical theme. But, there are tons of bar choices in the greater providence area with those same positives. In the end, it's so safe and boring. What is bringing me and other customers back on a weekly, even monthly basis? When will I come here? The couple times a year when I want to do the Pawtucket village pub/restaurant crawl and hit at least 3, 4 establishments. The nightly acoustic small band music at powers pub/jacky boys was what made it stand out. It's was a great place for groups. A real neighborhood bar and a great place to finish the night if you were out. PTX lounge not so much. It's a snooze fest so you better bring the party with a fun group of friends. Still no food options. I expected more hearing about the Avery owner being involved. I hope for the best but I see a revamp (music added on weekends??) coming sooner than later. Too bad. Having visited the Power Bar and thought it had such a nice vibe , I was disappointed with ptx . It smelled musty and only had 3 customers. Granted it was off hours but I didn't get the same cozy feeling . No music , open mic ... maybe I'll give it another chance . Staying here all Summer read more
