I was totally disappointed with my experience here. Walked in to a few regulars sitting at the bar. I was thinking there was food. Never offered a food menu at all. So looking forward to trying this place. The bartender was fine. She was more concerned with the regulars than me. No one was ordering food at all. At this point I made the decision to leave. Won't be coming back anytime soon.

"If I lived closer, I'd totally be a regular." The last time I said this, the place closed. (Sorry, Red Fez.) So I'm clearly taking a risk with a review loaded with acclaim. Great vibes. Great cocktails (loved my Mango Fuengo). Great interiors. Nautical without being tacky. Hip without being (too) hipster. Elevated without being pretentious. A perfect balance of everything can be found at ptx. And yes, if I lived closer, I'd totally be a regular.

A very cool quasi-hip cocktail bar and shift's end neighborhood joint lovechild, in the basement level of a Pawtuxet Village landmark. Friendly bar service, cool as a cucumber vibe, an agreeable mix of bar patrons, and a comfy seat. What more could you possibly ask for? Go have a drink and enjoy yourself. I did.

Warning: Boulevardier = 4 Roses NOT small batch Elijah Craig + extra Campari NOT a Luxardo cherry (I guess...?).

I have this theory that it makes more sense to order cocktails rather than wine or beer, since you can always go buy (for much cheaper) the same wine or beer and consume elsewhere. However, it would be much more expense and (hopefully) require skill, that you do not have, to make a cocktail. Therefore, cocktails are a good deal and a smart choice as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I love novelty, therefore I very much enjoy trying something new that someone else (with more skill than I) has put time and effort into perfecting. All that said, I was immensely disappointed to watch my cocktail being made after spending several minutes with the menu, imagining how each drink would look and taste before settling on, what I imagined to be a very good one (Boulevardier), mostly because I don't have any small batch Elijah Craig at home even though I know it's good. When I saw 4 Roses (not a terrible whiskey, but a common one for home bars, mine included) go in, I thought it was someone else's drink, but alas, it was mine. As ridiculous as it may sound, I was also looking forward to the sweet treat of a liquor soaked Luxardo cherry at the end of my drink too. But that too was no where to be found. I would have ordered a different drink had I known that two of the three cocktail elements would be missing or replaced with a lesser ingredient. The bar was not busy and no explanation was provided. I'm still a big fan of the atmosphere and location.

Upon entrance is a doorman who is so friendly and accommodating! He found us an open table and checked on us throughout the night. The place was packed and they only had maybe 5 or 6 employees so the service was a little slow but understandable. I think the longest wait was about 20 minutes when we were waiting to get our initial drink order taken, but everything after that was fairly quick. For drinks I got a thin mint martini because they were out of the chocolate reuge martini I wanted. It was so yummy and came with 3 thin mint cookies. My mom got a pistachio martini and the Jefferson Tea. Both were pretty good but I wouldn't order again. My dad got Dead Mans Redemption which is good if you like bourbon. It comes with a wood topper and they light it on fire, let smoke fill in the drink, and then take the wood off. The drink then has notes of smoked wood in it which is cool. For food we got the crispy spring rolls and pepperoni flatbread. Both were so good!!!! It was absolutely worth the wait!!! I could eat the whole flatbread myself it was that good and I can't wait to go back and get another one. The crowd is definitely much older, not a lot of younger people around. It's a good date night for married couples. Overall it was a nice place and I would come back.

I had perused the menu so I knew what I wanted. The on site bread with roasted garlic and high quality balsamic vinegar and olive oil , you cannot help but over do on the bread. We split a Caesar salad which was done perfect not overloaded with dressing. We would both loved anchovies but it was a winner . I had the Basta chop with the lobster sauce on the side . The presentation was spot on with the bone in on the plate . I upgraded the side to lobster risotto instead of the pasta marinara . Which was a good simple freshly made marinara . My husband had veal Milanese . He could cut his with a fork it was so tender . I saved room for dessert for a house made very berry sorbet which did not disappoint. Lots of moving parts inside large bar, private party. Constant water refilling and taking away if plates . If you you are ever lucky enough to go there , you'll want to hurry back . They have several light dishes pizza appts etc. Of course our server Taylor was top notch , lots of young busses being trained in the art of hospitality.

The complementary bread with olive oil, roasted garlic and balsamic is a nice touch, although there were no small spoons provided to scoop up the balsamic or the cloves making it a little awkward to fish them out, tasty nonetheless. There were several appetizers out on the table, the meatballs, charcuterie board, calimari, all the good stuff. The meatballs, and calimari were fantastic, extra props to the calimari. Nice and tender, very thin crisp batter that didn't get soggy. Good amount of cherry peppers to go along. I got the swordfish francaise, it was calling to me. I thought it was fantastic. There wasn't anything particularly inventive about the dish in terms of the batter, toppings or sauce- briney, lemony, and well balanced.. The treat was getting it was a nice piece of swordfish. It's not often you see it on the menu at all never mind as francaise. It was cooked perfectly, flaky, held it's structure, tasted fresh. I loved it. I thought it was a bit steep at $34, which is why I'm giving this a 4-star vs a 5. But overall, I enjoyed everything and would certainly go back for an occasion. For me it's a bit pricey to make it a habit.
