Came here on a Monday night around 4:30 and the restaurant was pretty busy. We had a reservation and were seated right away. They have a good happy hour with a lot of options. Oysters and clams are only $1 and they were chunky, meaty and super fresh. They were the highlight of our meal. We also got the wings they were tasty but a bit too sweet. The calamari was standard and the fish tacos were below average. We also got the chicken tenders on the kids menu that were $15 and it tasted like doughy chicken inside. Service was good but we didn't get any water refill the whole time. Overall, I would still recommend to come here just for the $1 oysters and clams but everything else is average and can be better elsewhere.

We make our way to Providence Oyster Bar every three or four months specifically for their legendary "Appy Hour" & it never disappoints! Every day of the week, from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, you can feast on $1 oysters, littlenecks & cherrystone clams plus $3.75 shrimp cocktail. POB used to only serve the Appy Hour menu at the bar but now they will seat you in the dining room if the bar is full. The oysters arrive with their own trio of essentials: cocktail sauce, zingy mignonette & lemon wedges. I like that the cocktail sauce has horseradish layered on top so you can customize it for your perfect level of kick. If the raw bar is not your thing, there are four different types of sushi & a dozen appetizers all priced at $9 per item. My perennial favorite is the Wasabi Calamari with pickled ginger & cucumber slices. It is a good portion of perfectly fried calamari. Ask for extra wasabi aioli on the side so you can dunk for extra heat! Hubby opted for the Steamed Mussels: PEI Mussels in a white wine broth of garlic, shallots & herbs with a slice of cheesy garlic bread on top. I don't remember the cheesy bread from previous visits but it is so good that we ordered another piece. I wish there were a half dozen more mussels because this is one of my favorite appetizers! Service is consistently great! There is enough interaction with your server that they usually recognize you when you are back in their section. Super friendly, very efficient & never rushed! Cocktails are excellent, whether you're in the mood for a classic martini or something more inventive. We've been for brunch many times & it is equally awesome! My favorite is the Shrimp & Grits: Creole shrimp, cheddar grits, Andouille sausage & braised greens topped with a fried egg. Rich, comforting & packed with flavor, it's one of those dishes you end up thinking about days later. The reason for no previous brunch review may or may not have been because I imbibed on their bottomless Aperol Spritz for $17 (just sayin'.) POB basically has it all: delicious food, generous happy hour specials, outstanding cocktails, complimentary valet service & a lively atmosphere that keeps us coming back! Highly recommend. Highly recommend this place for their happy hour! I came by at 3 PM on Saturday and sat at the bar. The place was quite crowded and I can understand why. I was immediately given water, and offered a drink menu while I perused the food menu. The happy hour menu was also out. I quickly ordered a fig based cocktail which was served quickly, and I also got their $1 a piece raw oysters and the $9 calamari. The drink came out first, and it was very strong, no complaints here. The oysters came out next, and in addition to lemon, pickled onions, and cocktail sauce, I was also handed Tabasco sauce. They tasted great and I highly enjoyed them. A bit after the wasabi ginger calamari came out. This was delicious. I didn't realize how much food it would be, and the sauce, cucumbers, and bell peppers were a nice addition. I will say I didn't taste any wasabi, so that could have been stronger for sure. The place was busy and a fun upbeat environment, with a ton of happy chatter. Will definitely reccomend for anyone to stop by in Providence!

Jo was absolutely fantastic! She sherpa'd our meal from start to finish and didn't steer us wrong! From clams to oysters to bacon wrapped scallops, and topping it off with a big juicy buttery lobster roll - she delivered! This place as an incredible end to our short weekend getaway and I'm so glad we stumbled upon it! Highly recommend!

Always a great experience at Oyster Bar in Providence, Rhode Island. I've been a lot so I've gotten to try alot of different things. We usually only go during happy hour for the oysters instead of bottomless because you end up spending less just buying the bottle of champagne and it makes for a better experience because you don't have to wait for refills. Never had any bad experience sometimes I sit at bar sometimes at a table with my fiancé. Always nice service from staff! But here's just a list of everything I've tried: * Oysters * Littlenecks * Bottomless mimosa (good ratio of OJ to Prosecco) * Bottle of Prosecco $34** * Truffle fries * Spicy salmon roll (didn't really care for) * Fried scallops * Steak tacos * Bud light bottle * Eel Sauce Wings * Fish and Chips * Poke Bowl (not a large portion for how much it cost) * Shrimp cocktail (10:30-3:00 bottomless----3-6pm seafood happy hour)

I went to POB for "Appy Hour" and it did not disappoint. Oysters were $1 a piece, fresh and the mignonette was spot on. I also got the steamed mussels bet the recommended of the bar staff. Wow they were plump and cooked to perfection! Solid food with a cozy atmosphere inside. I would highly recommend this place!

Seafood extravaganza!! When in providence downtown this place is a must. I was feeling the Xmas vibes having lunch here with a friend. It was happy hour and we were able to utilize that with having some oysters and shrimp and sushi, everything was fresh tasting and the shrimp were colossal. The salad was also really fresh and healthy and fulfilling

At my wife's request, for her birthday four of us went to the oyster bar having last been here about a year ago. We like the ambience of the place, and the fact that we could easily converse. We were seated at a booth, which was comfortable and intimate. Our server, Kelly was most personable, helpful, and efficiently attentive. We started by ordering drinks- a Prosecco and two spicy Fuego cocktails based on tequila, which hit the spot. We shared a bottle of Willamet Pinot Noir from Oregon, which was a good accompaniment to the meal. For appetizers, two of us shared eight different oysters, and also brussels sprouts, and wasabi calamari, all of which were excellent. For the main course, two people had the chef's salmon ($70 for the two) with slightly different accompanying sides, and one person had the seared scallops ($38) - all very tasty. I ordered sole special ($32) which was somewhat tasteless - rather disappointing. We all shared a good crème brûlée (lit with a candle.) to round out the meal. The check came to $335 to which we added a tip of over 20% because of the fine service. It was worth it for the special occasion. We were the last people in the restaurant, but did not feel hurried. We enjoyed the meal the place and the company. We will return and recommend the restaurant to our friends.

    French toast

Our waitress was very nice. We enjoyed the brunch with unlimited aperol spritz for me and mimosas for hubs. We shared the shrimp and grits and French toast. Grits spicy and good. French toast nothing exciting. We also had the lemon sorbet which was good. The place was pretty busy for Sunday brunch.

Love coming here for appy hour and for the $1 oysters. The servers are on point & friendly. This is a great neighborhood bar.

Perfection! On a road trip for 5 States in 5 days looking for hidden things and searching for good eats. Well, hot diggity dog, after talking about finding a good Lobster Roll for 3 days we landed here. They open at noon and we rolled in at 12:02. Steve at the bar took excellent care of us. Started with 4 Raw Oysters (of Steve choice) that were local and indescribably good. Followed by smoked grilled oysters (garlic was on point). So good. Then concluded with the much desired Lobster Roll (hot). Heaven. Absolute Heaven. This will be one of my favorite meals and establishments. Hope to come back sooner than later to take my time in this cool town.

    Wood-grilled Oysters, Raw Oysters

The food was excellent. The wood-grilled oysters were the best oysters I've ever had! The place was very clean and elegant! We had Jordan as a server and he was extremely friendly and attentive. One of the managers even came up to us to ask about our experience. We will be returning!

I heard a lot about the happy hour menu for this place so I definitely want to give it a try only street parking is available and we went during a weekday so it actually wasn't too bad. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm even though the lighting is a bit dark for me. I still enjoyed it because it gave a really nice vibe. We did not have any reservations, but we were seated upon arrival so that was easy. The staff were very professional and courteous. Our server came by often to check on us and also was able to explain items on the menu that we have questions about. 5/5 steamed mussels were excellent as they were infused with that white wine broth. You can definitely taste the full garlic and butter profile in every bite. They did a good job cleaning it as they were hardly any sand. The toasted bread was great accompaniment to absorb the broth to eat. Highly recommend starting with this appetizer. 3.5/5 calamari and fries - both came out fresh and hot. The calamari tasted fresh and was fried perfectly. The reason that is at 3.5 it was good, but it was not something to write home about. Same with the fries which were fried perfectly and flavored great with truffle flavor but again nothing spectacular to write home about. 5/5 little neck and cherrystone clams - these were both fresh and delicious and sweet at the same time and some of the best I've ever had. If I wasn't so full, I would've ordered more. The dark sauce that came with it was especially good believe it was a vinaigrette mixed with something. The bathrooms are very clean and very well maintained although there are only two. Overall, would highly recommend visiting again. Definitely worth the time and effort if you have to wait.

Not the kind of place I really want to sit in and enjoy a cocktail. Dungeon like. The music is loud hip hop, not something I mind, but worth noting if thats not for you. I sat at the bar, and honestly didn't feel like it was super clean. I don't think the counter had been wiped down for a while. Staff were doing their best but seemed overwhelmed on a Saturday night. I was watching them make the cocktails and did not feel like it was very sanitary. They've got one small sink they're rinsing everything in, they were chucking stuff, literally chucking and slamming metal. They were dumping out people's drinks into the same side of the sink and then rinsing in the other side. But stuff was splashing into what should be the clean side. It's not a good setup for a cocktail bar. The cocktail menu had 8 drinks on it, 2 they were out of. Nothing had whiskey in it. I got a drink called Darjeeling something. Really didn't like it, didn't taste balanced and it looked different than someone else's who ordered the same thing, not sure if the bartender forgot an ingredient. The bartender also wasn't tasting the drinks which I usually see to ensure it was made correctly. This one had curry in it as a listed ingredient and it was just way too strong a flavor. It was a rum drink with some mezcal but it just tastes like mezcal and curry powder. The place was pretty busy but people were coming and going frequently. There's only one bathroom which really isn't enough for a bar. Seems like there's potential here but I didn't like the menu offerings and the sanitary concerns leave me with no desire to come back here.
