I just remembered having amazing ceviche in RI back then, and randomly stumbling upon them again made me realize it was the same spot, and it's still just as delicious! Ceviche Mixto (5/5): Hands down one of the best ceviches I've ever had. Churrasco al Gaucho with Mashed Potatoes (4.5/5): Tender, delicious steak and great mashed potatoes all around. Andina Empanadas (4.25/5): Super meaty, perfectly puffy, and nicely crisp. There was a slight hint of sweetness I wasn't expecting, but I still really enjoyed them. Jalea (4/5): A generous portion of fried seafood. Good overall Classic Paella (4/5): Solid paella, though nothing super standout. A highly acclaimed Peruvian & Bolivian restaurant in Providence. Arriving at 5 PM, it was already nearly full, thankfully we had a reservation! Jalea: I don't usually like fried seafood, but this was really good! Besides the usual oysters, quahogs, shrimp, mussels, and squid, they also had South American specialties like paiche and pota. The batter was just the right consistency, not too thick, so it was crispy but not hard, and not too greasy, allowing you to taste the natural flavor of the seafood. The best dish was the fried shrimp; the thin, crispy shell concealed incredibly smooth and tender shrimp inside. The yucca fries were thickly cut, crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside, very satisfying. I recommend ordering an extra side of chili sauce; the waiter called it "extra spicy," but it's actually a salsa-like sweet and sour sauce--refreshing and mildly spicy, very refreshing. 903 Tasting: A platter of three signature dishes, perfect for first-timers. Ceviche Mixto had a milder sourness, making it easy to put in mouth, but it was a bit monotonous, and the scallops were a little mushy. Jaleita was basically a smaller version of Jalea. Arroz con Mariscos was similar to Spanish paella, but it was noticeably more tomato-based in sourness, with a hint of cheese. The rice wasn't too soggy either, making it the best of the three. Lomo Saltado: A classic Peruvian dish, and well-made. The beef is very flavorful, emphasizing the tomato's acidity rather than the soy sauce's saltiness, and the gamey taste was well removed. Although it was a bit overcooked , it was generally acceptable. By the way, their backyard was really beautiful! read more

We visited for our anniversary, and even though we had made a reservation, there was still quite a wait. We had requested outdoor seating, but were instead led to an indoor table in a room that really didn't have much character, and wasn't what we were looking for on a special night. We asked to be moved outdoors, and after a little while a table became available. Outdoors was so much nicer than indoors and we really liked all of the plants and the live music as well. Our server was Joseph and he was really nice - he was probably the best part of our visit to Los Andes. I had heard such great things about this restaurant, but found most of the food to be pretty average compared to other Peruvian restaurants I've been to, and the prices were higher than they should have been. We ordered appetizers, drinks, entrees and a dessert, and all in all, I think Los Andes is overhyped. It was disappointing to have to wait for quite awhile past our reservation time, to not have our request for an outdoor table honored and then have to move, and the food and drinks were not as good as I would have expected them to be given Los Andes' reputation. We were running late for dinner and they held our reservation for us which was much appreciated. We ordered the masaco from the appetizer special menu and that was the only thing we didn't care for. The pork belly was very dry, hard, and mostly unpleasant to eat. We split the bisteca lo pobre and it was very good. There's a $5 split plate fee and for that small amount, we got a full second portion of rice, fries, and an extra egg. Well worth it. We sat inside this time and it was fine, albeit a little loud. We would probably ask for outside next time if the weather was nice. The spiced chicha is easily my favorite drink on nearly any menu at a Peruvian restaurant I've been to. I think this is thee go to spot in Rhode Island for a meal hands down no questions asked. Peruvian fusion has something for everyone. From delicious steaks or fish dishes, to a wonderful assortment of cocktails and desserts. So many different areas in the restaurant so much to look and see, quite different than anything else I've been to and feels like you are plucked out of RI. I'd highly recommend this spot for any special occasion or even a date night. Staff are so friendly and kind, courteous. If you don't have left overs you must have quite the appetite. I love Los Andes! A Providence classic, you can always count on a tasty, hearty meal. Huge portions fill your plate and you should always share, or plan to bring home atleast two extra meals. I have had less than optimal ceviche here.... The chicken and rice entrees cant go wrong..... Can be very packed so i would reccomend a reservation always, even on what you might expect to be a slow night. You can sit outside, inside, on a patio, near a fountain with fish in it, etc, so make sure you let the restaurant know in advance if you have a larger party or a special night and they will accommodate :) read more

I've visited Los Andes Restaurant several times, but it has been a few years since my last trip. I went this summer for dinner with a group of friends and it really was just as good as I remember! They've remodeled the interior since I had seen it last, and I really like the paradise-like vibe they portray. The open air environment was neat, but it was a little hot that night. They also had live music and entertainment, so that was enjoyable. My only complaint there is that it was very loud, difficult to hear conversations at the table. Our serve was super friendly, gave excellent details about each special and took his time with our table. Very personable. I ordered the Salmon Aymara and it was delicious! The salmon was cooked nicely and seasoned with some really tasty spices. Asparagus was the vegetable of the day, which is one of my favorites, and that paired with the chaufa rice and béarnaise sauce made for an amazing combination of flavors. Overall, I loved the dish and the atmosphere, and will definitely return! Hopefully sooner rather than later! read more

At first glance, the restaurant appears rather small from the outside, but has a massive covered patio and beautiful garden in the back, perfect for summer dining. They offer valet at a very reasonable $5 per car, added to your bill, which is worth it. They had live entertainment with dancers as well - there is no shortage of energy and entertainment. All of the staff are exceptionally warm and friendly, and service was excellent. I ordered a Peruvian pisco at the bar, which was lovely. Evey appetizer we ordered was exceptional, and their ceviche is a must-try. Two of us split the tomahawk special for our entree, delicious, and one of the best steaks (if not the best) in the city. I have been wanting to try Los Andes and was thrilled to finally pay it a visit. We sat in the courtyard patio, which was absolutely lovely. The ambiance (and the service) is the star of the show at Los Andes. The relaxing South American music, the koi pond, the hum of happy diners all contributed to a lovely atmosphere. Our server was a true delight, very attentive, making great recommendations. We did not order desert but one of our party had a birthday and when we informed him we had no room for desert he brought out a plate with happy birthday drizzled in chocolate with a small mound of whipped cream and a strawberry. A very nice touch. I ordered a steak dish with the goal of getting as many South American flavors in my dish as possible- it came with a delightful cold salad, very good chimichurri, fried yuca, and a side of cheesy rice. The steak was cooked rare to my liking, which isn't always the case. It was a lot of food, beware. We started with some empanadas- which were also good, and this made it a Thanksgiving level feast. We have been loyal customers to Los Andes for years now, and they have remained at the top of our list for date nights and family celebrations. Los Andes is in a league of its own. You cannot go wrong with anything you get here - the food is consistent and perfect every single time (with some of the best steak we've ever had!). Some of our favorites dishes are their Churrasco Anticuchero, Salmon Aymara, Paella and Bisteca Andina. Their Andinian Mojito and Peruvian Pink Sangria are also a must. The portions are generous, so come hungry and ready to feast! The service from all of the staff is always incredible - everyone is always warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and attentive. Whenever I am in Providence, I always try to make it to Los Andes if I can. The food here is amazing. This time around, we got jalea, paella, salena de pollo, lechon, salmon de chicharron, calamari, and mussels. Everything was great but my must haves are the mussels (comes cold), jalea, and saltena de pollo. It was all just so good. The service was amazing as well. Our waiter was polite, attentive, and provided great recs. We got seated in the middle area and it was so warm and even had warm lighting which helped with seeing the menu. This my my husband's favorite restaurant. He sticks with the Bisteca Andina (I think I spelled it right) all the time. The place gets rather packed and the wait can be gruesome so I recommend making reservations ahead of time. The staff is always friendly. Only problem I ever had was when a waitress forgot to check on us and give me some hot sauce but its understandable seeing they can get so busy. We visited for the first time since the covid shutdown, and what a change! They have expanded significantly (even the entrance was new to me - though not to my friends. We were seated in a large indoor space with high ceilings (fabulous for noise control!), right next to the koi pond. Cocktails continue to be excellent, both the house offerings and more traditional drinks. The menu is large (though portions seemed a touch less generous than I remember. The food was fabulous, still. I had the stir fry with beef tips that our very friendly and attentive waitress said is a staff favorite. It was delicious, but I was sad that there were no leftovers for the next day's lunch. My husband loved his filet. We arrived around 6pm without a reservation and only waited about 5 minutes before being seated, which was awesome. The restaurant is BIG and there's a lot of different smaller rooms that have different vibes. Very good food but it didn't at all feel cohesive. Maybe it was just what we ordered but I felt confused eating bread with olive oil and salsa, chicken salad as part of an appetizer, an empanada, and then steak. Los Andes has been on our list for a while, and after finally visiting, I can confidently say it lives up to the hype. We started with the Empanada Andina ($5 each | 10/10), and these were exceptional. The dough was tender and delicate, while the filling was juicy, deeply flavorful, and incredibly well seasoned. The meat quality alone sets these empanadas apart -- easily some of the best I've had. Next up was the Churrasco Anticuchero ($44 | 8.5/10). Portion-wise, this dish does not disappoint. The real star was the Bisteca Andina ($42 | 9.5/10). This dish completely exceeded expectations. We have the opportunity to dine at Los Andes 2-3 times per year and after going back recently I can say they are still as good as always. The prices have increased somewhat but as we dine out a fair amount I've found that Los Andes' value is in the caliber of food and service. Los Andes also made some heavy modifications to their patio since we last dined there and they look fantastic. The semi-permanent enclosure with fans means that diners will be kept out of the rain/wind but also have a 'manufactured breeze' during those extremely warm summer days. This is honestly the perfect solution to maximize Los Andes' beautiful patio and help make diners more comfortable all year round. Great job guys! We lucked out with an awesome server that you could tell was experienced in the industry and cared about providing top notch service. In the midst of a bar error our server stepped right in and helped correct some miscommunication with the runner who had brought us our drinks. He also helped explain some dishes and menu options and was overall very attentive. The food is as good as ever and prices seemed overall reasonable. Extremely Disappointed by Management's Lack of Communication My family had planned a very special dinner at Los Andes for the evening of July 5. Our daughter and son-in-law are leaving for an important assignment, and they wanted one last family meal at a restaurant that holds special meaning for them. This occasion involved significant coordination. Our son-in-law's parents had just arrived at Logan Airport from Europe at approximately 1:30 p.m. after a seven-hour flight. Despite being tired from their travels, they drove down from Massachusetts so they could join us for our 7:00 p.m. reservation at Los Andes. Our son-in-law made the reservation online and received a confirmation within 30 minutes. Everything appeared to be set. Imagine our surprise when all six of us arrived at the restaurant only to find it closed. After looking around, we found a single 8 1/2" x 11" paper sign stating that Los Andes would be closed from July 3 through July 5. The issue is not that the restaurant chose to close for the holiday weekend. Everyone deserves time off. The issue is the complete lack of communication and attention to the reservation system and other customer-facing information. If management knew they would be closed, why were reservations still being accepted and confirmed? Why wasn't there a recorded message on the phone explaining the closure? When we called, the phone simply rang until it disconnected. Anyone calling could easily assume the restaurant was busy and open. There was also no update on Google indicating that holiday hours might affect operations. None of the obvious steps were taken to inform customers. As a result, our family experienced unnecessary disappointment on what was supposed to be a meaningful evening. More importantly, our son-in-law's parents made a long drive after an international flight, only to arrive at a closed restaurant. It was especially upsetting to see our daughter and son-in-law disappointed, as they had hoped this would be a memorable gathering before their departure. We don't know when all of us will have the opportunity to be together again. Fortunately, we were able to find one remaining table for six at AGUARDENTE, another restaurant that is special to our daughter and son-in-law. The staff there saved the evening. We enjoyed excellent food, outstanding drinks, and a wonderful time together despite the frustrating start to the night. I've always found the service staff at Los Andes to be friendly and professional, but this experience reflects poorly on management. It felt as though more attention was given to getting out the door for a long weekend than ensuring all the details were handled before closing. Accepting and confirming reservations while closed shows a lack of attention to customer service and created an entirely avoidable disappointment on an otherwise special occasion. While the evening was ultimately saved thanks to Aguardente, this experience has significantly diminished our confidence in Los Andes' management and communication practices. A sincere thank you to Aguardente for accommodating our group on short notice and turning what began as a disappointing evening into a memorable family gathering. read more
