DELICIOUS! Their happy hour has changed a bit but they are still as good as ever- they even now let you mix and match tacos for a platter- yay! Fantastic service and cool bar area- I always recommend this place to friends who are in the area! *Crispy fish tacos are still my favorite item on the menu. Carnitas tacos are my 2nd favorite but I need to try their Al Pastor next time! They also have really good chips and guacamole.

Mango Margarita (off menu but is part of their Margarita Flight and apparently can in fact be ordered on its own)

One of my favorite places for a date or to bring friends! I feel like I'm always talking about how much I love it here. The menu is small and yet there's always plenty of yummy things to try when I go, even as a picky eater. There are multiple vegetarian and even a vegan option or two. I always have to get the guac when I come here - it's the perfect amount of creaminess without too much onion. Their red salsa is a great slightly chunky - slightly juicy texture and has a bit of a kick. The vegan burrito bowl is my go-to as a vegetarian, and the street corn side as an app is elite! It is a little spicier these days since the recipe was updated from on the cob to off the cob (I much prefer off for ease of eating and sharing!) The Coconut Cartel margarita was creamy and smooth and went down *quick* haha. Others in my party loved the spicy Margarito, although they were out of the main spicy tequila but the servers offered substitute recommendations. I came with a very large work group today, and the servers were so patient and flexible when we asked for modifications from the menu. I even was able to order the queso dip with the chorizo on the side (yummy but very thick cheese dip!), and they were very attentive of my colleague's mushroom allergy and made sure she got dedicated dishes, even when we were all sharing apps. The churro donuts seem to have changed recipe and got mixed reviews - some thought they were dry, another says she Uber Eats just those regularly Sitting outside in the summer on the patio is nice. Tasty, interesting dishes with modern urban twists on Mexican recipes. Truly the only slight downside is that sometimes parking can be tricky in this area, but you can always find free street parking, it may just take you a little bit. Even the funky and creative decor is a selling feature for me. A must-try!

Walked into a dirty bathroom with plugged toilet, hostess on her phone, and a sticky bar...after that I got to listen to the bartender gossiping with a server about another employee who "clearly didn't know the rules" according to them. I finally got a menu, and when I was able to squeeze in a drink order. I was given a Mexican Coke without a glass or ice, guacamole with no information or instructions on the two salsas that came with it...after I used my napkin to try and clean off the sticky surface on the bar, I ordered a Carne Asada taco, which was delicious. Somebody came up behind me and placed a neon orange bottle of some kind of sauce without any name on it or instruction on how to use it. I've never been to this restaurant before, and I was pretty bummed by the minimal effort. They have quite a few screens set up, but they are at awkward angles. If you're sitting at the long side of the bar, you have to literally turn your body in order to see one of the screens.

Xaco has tasty tacos that come in some unique and interesting combinations. There are three different seating areas; dining room, bar/ atrium and an outdoor patio, all are comfortable and offer a unique experience. The service was adequate. Bonus: there's a $2.00 taco special with beverage purchase between 3-5pm

Great food and service we even tried the grasshoppers. It was a different experience, but a fun memory to create. We tried the cauliflower, lobster, carnitas and barbacoa tacos. You definitely have to try the lobster tacos. We also had the chips with guacamole and salsa as well as the queso. They serve a ton of chips with the sauces, which is really nice. Service was good and atmosphere was fun and upbeat. It's a perfect place to go after a long day at the hospital.

Xaco Taco was our pitstop before seeing a show at a local bar in Providence. The restaurant itself is very large, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoyed the cute hightop tables outside, but there must be some kind of wasp nest near the place because there were wasps flying over to us and like usual there was one that wouldn't leave me alone! :( For some reason wasps and bees love to fly around and bother me, im like some kind of bug magnet. We ended up putting one under a plastic cup so we could finish our food. (We let it go before we left). The margarita flight was very good, it came with three different margaritas with a couple different rims and flavors. We had fun tasting them all and got a nice buzz. The chips and guac were nice but unremarkable, and then there was the tacos. They were great but pretty spicy. At first I loved the flavor but as the spice built up I couldn't continue eating them. The least spicy was the fried shrimp taco, the other two were pretty hot. I'm not super great with spice but I can handle it usually. So long story short, the tacos were good but it could be helpful to have some kind of spice meter listed for those that are sensitive. But overall good food and good energy in this place.

I love Xaco taco. Their food is delicious, fresh and super flavorful. On this visit I stuck with water, but I usually pair tacos with a fruity marg and some chips and guac. It's all wonderful! Whether you are looking for a quick bite or want a night out and some good quality food, they offer that! The service is always great. They're attentive and helpful. They check in often too. Much appreciated. The restaurant is vibrant, fun and inviting. There is tons of seating! The only downsize is they charge more if you use a card over cash and it's street parking with meters. But it's providence, so that's not uncommon. Overall a great spot.

The vibe at Xaco Taco is so cute -- very metro, very mindful in its design. Honestly, the space alone makes it worth a visit. The food, I'd put at about a 3.5 out of 5. Not bad, but not quite as strong as the atmosphere. One note: when a menu says "queso," I'm expecting a dip -- something smooth, warm, and scoopable. What I got was more of a melted, stringy cheese topping. Not bad if you're looking for cheese-pull moments, but not quite the queso experience I was hoping for. On the other hand, the carne asada fries were a hit -- my husband really enjoyed them. The real star for me, though? The ranch water. I would absolutely go back just for that drink. Refreshing, crisp, perfectly done. So overall: food gets a 3.5/5, but the experience itself (thanks to the decor and drinks) lands at a solid 4/5. Cute spot, worth checking out -- especially if you're there for the vibe and cocktails. * Margarita flight (good) * Ranch water (good) * Queso (no go, too stringy) * Carne Asade fries (good) 370 Richmond St Providence, RI 02903 United States

As someone who is very picky when it comes to tacos I am so ecstatic that we found this place. I've passed this place so many times and didn't bother going, they have a big parking lot, which is free and perfect. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the decor is what catches your eye first. I love how it brings culture out, I love it. Day of the dead and skeletons everywhere! So cool! We were greeted upon entry and seated at a high table right next to a mini suv old fashion van, I freaking love it, so cool! They had TVs pretty much everywhere and I noticed all the employees worked as a team and all seemed to be smiles and helpful. We had Nikki as our server, super attentive and sweet. We really enjoyed Nikki she's a great server and you can tell she enjoys her job and the atmosphere didn't seem to stress her. We got $2.00 tacos, they were so flavorful and stuffed. They aren't cheaply made at all, weren't stingy with the meat I love this. We also got margarita flights, which also had great taste and a great trio. When the bill came out I was shocked only 40 something dollars for 7 tacos and 2 margarita flights, excuse me? What a steal. Oh yes I'll be back! I want their tacos now! My new taco spot. For sure don't be like me a drive by this place and not give it a go you're missing out. Oh and the vibes and music, it's so chill in there. Wish I could give 10 stars!

We came here at 5 PM on a Friday night and had a very delicious dinner. The food was all very tasty and the margaritas were great. We were able to get seated quickly and had a great waiter. My only complaint is how loud it was. I know that makes me sound so old, but the music was loud enough that it made it hard to hear the person across the large circle table. I might be biased because we came with kids too. Regardless, we will definitely come back for more good food and drinks!

Chips and salsa (free refills but we didn't need them)

The big standout was the service. We went for lunch and our waiter was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very nice. Everyone enjoyed their food. We each got 2 tacos and an order of chips for the table. Two of us ordered our tacos as a plate, which adds rice and beans. The food was good, but there's a lot of competition for good Mexican in this area. My son and wife weren't crazy about the cauliflower taco. The best I've had is in Central Falls, and it wasn't quite up to that standard.

Short summary: VERY good tacos, great atmosphere, but one major complaint! Please wear hair nets! We came on a Saturday for lunch and got in fairly quickly, we sat inside which was nicely decorated. Our server was nice, and we got the guacamole and the queso- both were yummy! The presentation for the queso was fun. I got the shrimp diablos taco (the best by far!) and the Baja fish, also great. I also got a side of beans, with a hair in it. I'm glad I ate the beans last, it turned me off the rest of my meal. You can see into the kitchen and no one is wearing hairnets, I think that's a huge miss as the food is wonderful, but hairs are not!! Please wear hairnets, it's for hygiene, not fashion. The food is great so we will come back, but hopefully we will see hairnets in use.

Coconut tequila with coconut water and lime juice. I felt like I was getting lit and hydrated at the same time! Lol

Vibes, food, service, and staff here check all the boxes. Our waiter was so quick and efficient. We had food at our table before we even finished ordering! No, that wasn't even an exaggeration. Vibes were immaculate. Very Mexican and very dias de los muertos-esque. Food is 10/10. Everything was spot on. Especially for rhode island too - it was as authentic as you could have it in the states. Also, If this is what "ranch water" tastes like, I want it all the time. Coconut tequila with coconut water and lime juice was way more delicious than I anticipated. I felt like I was getting lit and hydrated at the same time! Also churros are a must. It was like eating fluffy air with an aftertaste of chocolate.

We ordered the chips and guac for 14.50, which comes with beans and salsa, and says says free refills (menu attached). We asked for one refill of beans and one of guac. When we got the bill, we were supposed to see charges for the beans and guac. Our server explained that the free refills were only for the chips and salsa. We asked to see a menu again and pointed out that it says free refills. Our server contacted the owner/manager who doubled down on the misleading statement and charged us for both refills (total of 10.50 additional cost). It's really a bummer because I had read a bunch of reviews on here and my takeaway is that the food is great but the management leaves something to be desired. Be upfront with your customers! It's a great restaurant with delicious food, I'm glad small businesses exist, and I wish that we had been treated with more grace and honesty. Losing $10 on your end (or even just being upfront and stating the refill policy on the menu) is well worth it for a positive customer experience. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but took 1 off for the misleading pricing and another for the way that it was handled by the manager.

The older gentleman was friendly and playful towards my son. The food was delicious! I had enchiladas with housemate mole. The mole was fantastic: complex and nuanced. But I'm someone that believes anyone can have an off day so overall this place is really great. First and foremost, get the margarita. They are the best I've ever had. Also, get the tacos. Even as an app they're so great. I got the shrimp and a veg recently. I've enjoyed all of the entrees I've ever gotten. Honorable mention is the shrimp Diablo. Super spicy and delightful. The interior is warm, cozy, and a perfect combo of lit enough so you can see but dark enough to set a mood for spilling tea or flirting with your date. Equal parts good for girls night and good for date night. The not so great: I got flautas once and they fell flauta (haha). Also, it's sometimes a one man show so service can be slow especially if you need refills so be sure to order multiple drinks at a time, or better yet a pitcher. Street parking can be a real pain but sometimes you get lucky on a side street. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been!

Needless to say, it was a disappointing start to what was supposed to be a special family evening. Thankfully, a quick call to Aguardente in Fox Point changed everything. The person who answered explained that they weren't taking reservations that evening, but they did have one outdoor table left if we could make it there in time. Despite the challenges of navigating Providence during the World Cup festivities and the Cape Verde Festival in the Fox Point area, we managed to get to the restaurant and secure that last table. We are incredibly grateful to the staff at Aguardente for helping turn our evening around. Our daughter and son-in-law were hoping to enjoy one last dinner with both families before leaving on Monday for a special assignment in South Carolina, and the unexpected closure of our original restaurant had left everyone feeling frustrated and disappointed. The upper 'porch' like area looks really fun, but the table we were seated at was so close to the other tables I was uncomfortable. I get that we're in a city, but I value my personal space and privacy and felt like the whole restaurant could hear my every word - ick. Service: our server seemed annoyed that I didn't want an alcoholic drink, and was not very helpful. Half of the menu is not in English (very chaotic how some portions are in English and others are not, it doesn't seem consistent), so we had some questions, such as "what does x taste like?" and the only response we got was "not too sweet"....okay, but what DOES it taste like? She spoke very fast and I couldn't understand her listing off the specials, even though she didn't really have an accent. She left partway through while we were there so I guess she was just at the end of her shift and checked out, but it was so offputting how rude and unhelpful she was. When our servers transitioned, we offered to cash out then since we weren't getting anything else and wanted the original server to get her tips, but she started joking around that we didn't have to do that - which I appreciate, but we actually did want to get going and get cashed out, but she refused to give us our check. I asked three times and she still wouldn't 'let us do that'...very weird. Food: there were not a ton of vegetarian options that appealed to me. I went a little overboard on plantains by accident, which is my mistake. I first ordered the Rellenitos with cilantro crema sauce, which were very good and a flavor combination I wasn't expecting. The dough to filling ratio was a little off and they were pretty dry inside, so I needed a lot of the sauce. An order only came with 2 and I wish it was more. I'm glad I ordered something else - Tula Fries, which came with the same exact cilantro creme sauce as the Rellenitos, even though they are described differently on the menu, which felt lazy to repeat a sauce. The sauce didn't go well with them at all in my opinion so I did not enjoy these as much as I would've liked. My friend enjoyed her drink, but thought almost all of the meat on her meat and cheese board was either low quality or close to going bad. It was priced reasonably, which we were shocked by, but she couldn't eat a good portion of it sadly. We did really enjoy the baked flava bean snack that was a part of it. The board weirdly came with just half of one small, half rotten strawberry that looked terrible - it would've been better to leave it off. Towards the end of the night, there was so much water on the floor in the hallway that goes to the bathroom and passes the kitchen - I had to walk through it to go to the bathroom, which felt like a safety hazard. My friend was on crutches and wouldn't even try to get over there since we knew she'd slip on all the water. It just looked terrible and was dangerous, so not sure what we going on that there was such a water issue there. Their specialties and more meat based dishes are probably great, but there just aren't a ton of things for me to eat here. I'd be willing to try it again for drinks and apps if the service wasn't so unwelcoming.
