Asad and birria
Holly W.

Steely Dan playing as we walked in. Oh- you have my attention! To be honest, Tuxpan has had my attention since they were nominated for a James Beard award and only like 7 minutes away from my house. This past Saturday- it was the day. First and foremost I grew up in Pawtucket and if memory serves me correctly this used to be a drive thru photo hut? Pawtucket tap water out of crate and barrel glasses. Lipstick on a pig! Thick chips (needs salt), super fresh guacamole. Win for the guac! 2 tacos. 1. Birria: it's a dirty taco. It's $3 and change for the consomme! (What?!) Lacked flavor. Needs a little something. I added lime and sour cream. 2. Asada: again, missing flavor. I did have 2 bites of their $18 cheese quesadilla (totally overpriced) I did like their cheese but it sat in a small puddle of liquid. Refried beans were very creamy but needed salt. I was left confused over the nomination...

I was in search for tacos around Newport, RI and I came across Tuxpan Taqueria. When you enter the establishment you are instantly greeted with a warm welcome. The service was pretty quick and everything was made to order. I ordered a pupusa, and 3 classic tacos (one pollo, asada and carnitas). Requesting cheese was an upcharge I will always pay for. My friend ordered the birria tacos for us to try. Everything was flavorful and fresh !!! You receive two salsas with your order, a verde sauce and a red spicy sauce. They were both AMAZING !!!! And of course I couldn't leave without my pineapple Jarritos !!

Lengua torta

Expensive for a little Mexican place in CF. We had a michelada (yummy), a corona, an order of enchiladas, and a torta with lengua (+$0.50). It cost almost $50. There are maybe 3 or 4 tables in the place. The tables and chairs are very dirty and look like they've never been replaced in 30 years (idk how long this place has been around.) The 4 chicken enchiladas in salsa verde were on the smaller side at a hefty $18! Came with a scoop of rice and refried beans. Overall, the flavor was ok. The lengua torta ($12.50) was pretty good. Tender lengua and super soft Portuguese roll. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how cloudy the bread was. It went well with the red hot sauce.

Rating: 4.5 My second time trying this place but decided to leave a review. It's a small Mexican restaurant located in Central falls. I decided to order a head because the place is small and seatings are very limited. They have few parkings spot but street parkings are also available. I got some tacos last time but decided to get a burrito bowl this time with al pastor which I liked on tacos last time. Ordered it online and came at exact time for pick up. The food was ready and the staff made sure to give me some utensils, napkins and some sauces. The burrito bowl was a bit underwhelming than what I expected because I'm used to getting them in other Mexican food locations like Bajas. Portion was small and only consisted of meat, rice, cilantro, lettuce, radish, and cream. The upside was that the al pastor was good as I remembered and was a-lot of meat in the bowl. Sweet and savory flavor was perfect. The down side was that the rice was overcooked and too soft for my liking and the bowl lacked a lot of add on that could have made it better. Food was still tasty but would get something else next time. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Overall I still like the place because I'm a fan of the meats they have here. It is a bit far from where I'm located but I would definitely come back if I'm around the area.

Steak CLASSIC TACO (CORN TORTILLA)

This spot has been one of my favorite taco places since I moved here. They're quick, serve pretty good food at fair prices, and the portions are pretty big. I always get the steak tacos. The chicken is good too, but the steak with a tamarind soda is definitely the best. Plus, the manager is super chill and easy to talk to.

This is the best place for tacos in the area, so glad that James Beard it put it on my radar! At $3 each, their tacos are very affordable given how generous their portion sizing is, and their burritos are quite hefty as well. My go-tos have been the carnitas and carne asada (steak), though all of their offerings have been quite tasty. There is limited seating inside with smaller tables (max 3 people). Would recommend take-out if coming with a larger group as the tables fill very quickly.

Amazing tacos!! I tried the blue and white corn tortillas and the chicken, steak and chipotle chicken meat options. Can't wait to come back to this place.

I ordered several items, but so far only tried the following four tacos: shrimp, tongue, pork, belly, and steak. All of them are absolutely wonderful, especially the pork belly which was both crispy and tender. Absolutely wonderful. The tortilla were also soft and tasty. The tacos are a little bit on the small side, but they're also not very expensive so it seems fair to me. If I live nearby, I would go here on a regular, a.k.a. very frequent, basis.

Holy cow. This place is no longer a hidden gem and for good reason! I demolished 3 tacos faster than I thought possible. Each were perfectly seasoned and had so much flavor. The salsa verde is not spicy at all but delicious. Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and looked like they were excited to be working. Parking and seating is limited but turnover is pretty quick. Will DEFINITELY be back

Everything about this place is a GEM!!!! I LOVE coming here. They will make things vegan if you ask. Diego and Eddy are the best. It's so nice to see such a lovely family business doing AMAZINGLY!!! Congrats! Will always be there to support!

Chicken Quesadillas with rice and salad with refried beans on the side.

This taco place looks like a Chinese takeout place only a different countries food. Ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, that being said, the food is fantastic. There an only a few tables and the stools are very uncomfortable. My advice is to takeout and eat in the comfort of your own home. I can't wait to go back and get some unbelievable authentic Mexican cuisine.

This place right here is the real deal! We are doing the Taco mania month from RI food fights and it was on the list. I never been here and oh man, I think I found my taco spot! It beats out all of the tacos I've ever eaten in RI. Actually all of the northeast! It's amazing! The staff was also super nice. The place was small but clean. I didn't expect much but it blew me away. I ordered the Al pastor taco which was amazing! So tender and flavorful. The chicken chipotle taco was also flavorful and delicious. And tortilla tasted homemade and sooooooo good! Probably the best tortilla texture I've ever eaten. And the birrias was just wow! Perfection! Oh and my fiancé orders a horchata drink (which I don't usually like) and even that was great! I will be going there pretty often from now on. Drooling as I type!

Tacos Al pastor and carnitas!!!

So this is my second review here. I just had to add that the customer service is amazing here too Due to a miscommunication I only got 4 tacos instead of five when my food was brought out I asked the server and he went and grabbed the slip and only 4 were on it Without hesitation he went back in and got them to make me a 5th taco free of charge And I just gotta say it again these tacos are fire!!!!!!

This place is small and does fill up but seems like most do take out. Parking is a bit tight and limited to street parking, but on a rainy day, there was plenty available. Staff was very friendly and attentive to getting us drinks, more tacos, and checking in on us~ my family speaks Spanish, and staff are fluent and native speakers of Spanish. Central fall caters to a mostly Hispanic population, so it's very welcoming. My partner speaks english, and with his limited Spanish, he ordered with no issue and the staff understood him well. My burrito was customized to my preference which had the cheese, rice, avocado, and no crema. Sounds very restrictive if that's just how my diet is, and I'm so glad they complied and gave me a delicious burrito! The meat was savory and tasty and the table had a container with three different sauces. The hottest was the dark red, and it was super good! I actually finished the whole meal and didn't feel too heavy. It was satisfying. The tacos were tasty, messy, but good. My partner ordered two more and he was too focused on his food to take a picture. For drinks, I got a seasonal drink called Atole Chanpurrado, which is made from corn flour, corn starch, and milk along with cinnamon. There are many versions, but this restaurant had the traditional one. It was super tasty and warm, very enjoyable on a cold rainy day. It was very homey!

The quesadilla here is a game changer! My friend was hungry one day and ordered one. He offered me…read morea bite, I said no, but he insisted so I gave in and I am so glad I did. It has become my favorite menu; it is unique from quesadillas at almost any place since they stuff a big handmade corn tortilla (instead of flour) with cheese and well-seasoned meat. The tortilla is soft, warm, and crispy, and the cheese is well melted. The only thing I wish it did have were some toppings on the side like sour cream, lettuce, pico, etc. since it is very plain. They usually ask if you'd like sauce on the side; I ask for both the red (smokey chipotle flavor) and green (fresh but spicy). I believe it's about $10 which is fair for the size and quality. I called to place my order and they told me it would be about a 25 minute wait. I've tired other items and it's always been good. For example, tacos are very affordable, tasty, and bring a good amount of meat. They do offer dine in with their dining area having about 6-8 big booths. It is in a plaza so there is lots of parking available.
