I really enjoyed the option of making it My own by picking and chosing the type of beans and ingredients in my bowl. There was alot of rice and black beans and meat (I chose chicken) but the lettuce was very sparce and I think they forgot the lime dressing so it was very dry. Luckily I ordered it with salsa. Could have used some sort of seasoning though, it was pretty bland. The chicken, however, was tender and abundant and the taco bowl was crisp and fresh. Bajas is so good. You can get potatoes and queso and even plantains. The prices are pretty reasonable unless you start adding a ton of the add-ons in but for the most part it's a good deal. They have a few tables in the front and then a couple in the back so there's plenty of for them to sit down and a drink machine. Everyone there is so nice and I'm sure we'll be back. When I'm not in the mood to cook, Baja's is easily my favorite take out Mexican spot in the area. I just ordered some on doordash and was not disappointed. I'd describe it as a great Chipotle alternative....this might be a controversial statement, but I actually prefer Baja's to Chipotle. They have a phenomenal selection of authentic and tasty Mexican cuisine. From quesadillas, to burritos, to rice bowls. Personally, I recommend their nacho bowl. I'm a fries girl and the loaded fries are something I could eat every night! They're crispy and fluffy at the same time! The fries definitely were a huge part of the score. The burrito/meat was three stars, but the fries were five: the average four. The service was average; I was a little confused about why my took so long since I watched them make it, then paid for it, but they were waiting for the fries before handing any part of it to me. When I laugh at bad Tex Mex, I go bajajajajaja. The food here is more 3 star and it's definitely not Mexican but more American style like an unhealthy Chipotle perhaps if you will. Came here while in town for work. My little cousin goes to URI and suggested we try this place out. It was Taco Tuesday, so I figured why not?! We arrived on Tuesday evening, so the place was packed with college students - no biggie. I look about 19 and fit right in....right. So it's your typical taco spot, you order closest to the door and work your way down until you get to the cashier. They have tacos, burritos, fajitas, whatever you want! They have soooo many toppings. For a rinky dink taqueria, they sure get packed and the customer service is great too! Thank you Novely for showing us such kindness while we were in town! Great service goes a long way. She was super helpful with everything and really made us feel at home since it was my first time there. I got a chicken and shrimp taco. I must've added at least 6-7 toppings on my tacos. They were so large I could barely hold them together to take a bite. So sorry for the people who had negative experiences here. The bad reviews seem to be more based on service than food, which is crazy because I had such a positive experience all around. If you've never been here, don't let the bad reviews deter you. Boy did this place fill me up. There was no line in the afternoon on a rainy Saturday as I took a break from work. The servers worked quickly as I ordered some nachos. I had it to go and was only able to eat about half my order because it was humongous. I think this is meant for at least two people to share. The chips are a bit salty so make sure you have some water on hand. I added steak and grilled chicken. The steak was very flavorful and grilled steak was average. Nom nom nom! People have mentioned this place numerous times to me and I would just say no I haven't been and that's that. Thayer can be a bit chaotic to me ( someone with severe anxiety ). Any-who it's a small hole in the wall on Thayer BUT boyyyy was this hole in the wall YUMMY! They have a variety of stuff , tacos , nachos , taco bowl , nacho bowl , rice , beans , etc etc ! It took me a minute to get my life together , and I finally ordered. I got a nachos with shrimp , chicken , melted cheese , hot sauce , lettuce , tomato , banana pepper and beans. I believe that's it and OMGGGGGGG it was so yummy. 1st and for most it's small as hell in here but they do have tables for 2 or families of 4 but not bigger than that and this place gets packed quick we went around 4pm, and we got the last bigger table. Now back to the food my food proportion was huge they give you soooo much and it's fresh food and scorching hot. They put the meal together right in front of you so no funny business here and the workers aren't rushing you , they answer all your newbie questions. I'm literally salivating right now because I want to go back and have another plate. The shrimp was nice and seasoned and nice sized and they gave me like 30 shrimp no lie and they gave me like 50 pieces of cut up chicken. I was so worried since there was so much condiments on top that there wasn't going to be any meats , that wasn't the case everyone was greatly proportioned. They don't hold back here you get your moneys worth. The prices are also so very reasonable! I think my meal was around 7-8.00 for everything and I got a guava bottled soda drink. This location is smaller , super small! But a few blocks down they have a bigger location, an actual restaurant feel, I've never been clearly but I've heard about it as well.
