My Bajas Taqueria experience was exceptional! First the food, because it's always about the food! I ordered the Mexican Dinner with chicken and it was superb. I mean really authentic flavor. It was very tasty and I eat it all. The portion size was probably too much but I just couldn't stop myself The service only consisted of someone taking my order and cashing me out. But everyone was pleasant and engaged. The atmosphere was also authentic. I loved the Spanish style music! And to no surprise the facility was clean and well kept. The next time I'm in Providence you can bet I'll be making a stop at "bajas taqueria!" read more

usually crave bajas once a year during ramadan in the middle of the night and it's their nachos with beef that i want. it's pretty generous and customizable at $12. the bigger bajas interior is maintained and easy to dine in at. and it's pretty easy quick in and out, and i've never had a bad experience at my annual visit lol. one time i tried the churros with ice cream and that was a good sweet treat fix late night too. read more

bajas taqueria - **BYO NACHOS** with beef, $12 - Mexican Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

Was recommended to try this place since I like Chipotle. Got the wet burrito and would rate it 3.5/5! Chicken was pretty good, but the rice was pretty dry. Highlight of the dish was the green salsa. Portion and price here is better than Chipotle though! read more

bajas taqueria - **WET BURRITO** - Mexican Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

Been going here for at least 10 years and the food is consistently great! Even when I order thru Uber, I am never disappointed. Their cheese steak is a hidden gem that you wouldn't think to order from Bajas... probably the best one in the city tbh Their fries are delicious and their portions vs price ratio (especially in these times) is fantastic. Finished my meal off with a tamarindo juice! Perfect comfort meal on this snowy day! read more

bajas taqueria - **CHEESE STEAK** soooooo good!! - Mexican Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I would recommend Baja's over the national Mexican chains because the portion sizes compared to the price are so much better. They don't charge extra for guacamole like the Chipotles do. Granting this location 4/5 because the last time I visited they made a mistake with the order read more

Great small restaurant in college area, but food was excellent and huge- I got the taco salad and boyfriend got the chimichanga, both so meaty and so many fresh vegetables, so large we couldn't eat all of them! Highly recommend while visiting Providence! read more

dear owner you may need to hired a new manager for the night shift. At the Thayer location went over last sunday and the service was awful I was treated poorly.. and from the managers perspective he had to charge me more then what i usually pay at the reservoir location.. for the same food.. this is very sad to see but it has to be voice. read more

This place is delicious!!! Tried it for the first time yesterday. It looked super small from the outside but we tried it anyway. I do wish they had more seating, since we were stuck on the end of a long table, right where everyone was standing in line. I ordered a burrito with shrimp, tomatoes, lettuce, rice & beans with guacamole. I was a little upset because they left out the guacamole. :/. But besides that, I was not disappointed - the burrito was fantastic!! The shrimp tasted very fresh, same with the rest of the ingredients. My boyfriend ordered three tacos, one with steak and two with chicken, but they gave him the wrong thing as well (two steak and one chicken). We both liked our food though, and would give it a try again (of course, while watching closely to make sure they got our order right). read more

they completely messed up 3 of the rice bowls i ordered. Not to mention they didnt even filled the rice bowl halfway! i paid extra for shimp, did i get that shrimp? nope! i ordered beef, did i get that? nope! they gave me some spicy chicken which i cant even eat due to allergies. I ordered an hour before closing so i don't understand why they would just choose not to give me what i ordered. i paid $70 for this order and completely wasted my money. I work on thayer street at a food chain as well and I would NEVER do something like this. They made it very obvious they made this order with disrespect. Out of respect for other possible customers I'll make sure I recommend the other bajas on thayer that actually makes the orders right! read more

i like this place, went for the first time and portions were pretty solid too! can add any meat to their options and nice vibe in there

As a Latina from the Southwest, I can't say I claim Baja's (or tex-mex in general), but when I'm on Thayer and want something a little more home-y than Chipotle, but still as cheap, Bajas is there for me. I can't comment on the service since I always order on Snackpass, but they are always speedy! read more

Leagues ahead of other nation branded taco/burrito joints. More sides to customize to your tastes and suitable menu options to leave a vegetarian satisfied. Moderate amount of seating for a counter service establishment. Great music. Fair prices for quality. read more

Don't order from these guys. They'll mess up your order and refuse to remake and refund it. The other Baja's up the street is much better and more reliable. read more

Do not order thru door dash. They're always getting orders wrong smh and they barely put meat in the items either. All set!

Great Mexican place. I had soft tacos and a wet burrito. Both excellent. Desserts especially Tres Leches excellent. Highly recommended.

Prices have gone up... by $1! Nevertheless, Bajas is still one of my go-to quick, cheap meals on the Brown campus. While they may no longer be the best deal on Thayer (that badge may now have to go to East Side Pockets), you can still get a delicious, filling meal for under $10. I've tried many of their different menu items. The chimichanga, tacos, burrito bowl, spicy fries, taco shell salad... they're all delicious! I usually order steak as my protein option and then have them pile on all the fixings (cheese, lettuce, sour cream, onions, tomatoes, guac, pico, cilantro, etc.). Plus, they're on the Snackpass app, so you can usually skip the line pretty easily if you're in a rush. Whether you're simply visiting Brown's campus or roaming around popular parts of Providence, if you're craving some great, affordable Mexican food, Bajas is your best bet. read more

Bajas is the counterbalance to East Side Pockets. Both of those venues get us, and thousands of students, through our daily lives. Much love to the Thayer staples that hold down the East Side. Protip: Order a burrito or they will look at you like your lost. read more

Delicious and wonderfully priced for the amount of food they give you in the tacos! Guac also doesn't come with an extra charge. read more

bajas taqueria - a plate of tacos with guacamole - Mexican Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

We were dropping our daughter off at Brown and needed some lunch. There are many choices on Thayer Street, and after some debate ended up at Baja's. I had a carnitas burrito. It was all fresh ingredients and was the best Mexican food I've had since I moved back east from California a few years ago. The staff was fast and efficient as well. I will be stopping by this place again when in Providence. read more

I ordered tacos for myself and a friend with completely different contents. They threw it altogether into one container, and when I asked for a refund for my taco they refused. They told me to scoop my taco out of his container, and they only relented when I told them my dietary restrictions prevent me from eating the stuff in his taco. They also got part of my order wrong and claimed what they gave me was correct when it was clearly a different menu option. read more

Right on Thayer, good and cheap and casual and fast. For "fast" food it is fresh and bright and full flavored. The burrito is huge and filling so you'd better be very hungry, or ask the counter person to cut it in half and share with a friend, or take the other half home for later. The tacos feel lighter. Get a plate of 3 and mix up the fillings. Shrimp are really good. read more

I was not impressed. Yes , the food looked fresh and they prepare it in front of you but so does chipotle or Moes. First off, the service was horrible. Here I am in the process of ordering two tacos. One soft chicken and one hard chili. The guy grabbed two hard shells. That's correction #1. Next he asked what toppings do I want. I said guacamole. He plops on sour cream. Correction #2. Then the sauce. I said the Med one. He throws on a mild. Argh. The chili meat was mushy and the chicken was tasteless like rubber chicken. Tyson frozen grilled chicken is better. I will never return again. Save your money and walk around the corner to Wow bbq for a cheap and delicious meal. You want Tex mex ? Chipotle is on the same block. read more

So there is a lot of hype about Bajas and their Texmex.... So first of all, the place was decently priced. While you wait in line, you can see the staff prepare food behind a polyglass window; so that's great to know your food isn't just being microwaved or reheated from the last day. With that being said, the line was kind of anarchy. They didn't clearly have a "line start here" or "place order here" sign, and as this was my first time, it was kind of overwhelming to order. So I ordered a shrimp quesadilla, and it was really great! However, if you have FOOD ALLERGIES, you need to avoid this place. In my shrimp quesadilla, there were little bits of steak. For me, I like steak and shrimp, so it was a little bit of a treat! But I could see my friends having a fit over it. The quesadilla came with sides of guacamole, lettuce, beans, rice, and sour cream. It was just ok. Nothing too special Salsa choices were excellent. Mild, spicy, verde, corn, pico de gallo. Overall, I'll give this place another shot; however, it was very underwhelming and disappointing my first time. read more

This isn't the highest-quality or most authentic Mexican food in town (doesn't hold a candle to Tallulah's for instance) but they're quick, reliable and pleasant to their customers, which is why I'm giving them an extra star. If you're on campus craving Mexican and can't go too far for it, this is a fair bet. Folks here are on top of their stuff, will accommodate you and tailor your food the way you want it done, and they're courteous and fast about it. (if you're ordering delivery i'd maybe try a different place, they're only so-so on delivery) BEST DISHES: i'm a fan of their burrito bowls which are prob the best / most varied salad you can get on thayer; try their horchata, too PROS: quick, reliable taste, great in-person service, excellent salad variety CONS: sometimes their lettuce isn't the freshest, their fries are so-so, they're not awesome with delivery orders since it's harder to tailor what you want... read more

What a good bang for your buck. I got the Mexican dinner combo and it was so much food I had to walk home uncomfortably full. It was a great deal and yummy to boot. The chicken was okay, but the rice and beans were great! My biggest complaint is how much waste they produce. Even thought I ate in, I was given a styrofoam box and a plastic bag. Wish there was a way to decrease waste or make it more environmentally friendly. read more

UPDATE: Owner told Grubhub he was refusing to refund me so I had to walk to the restaurant and speak with him. He gave me some run around crap about how they don't deliver, Grubhub does, and if I don't pick up my food they throw it out. No explanation as to why I wouldn't receive a phone call when they realized it couldn't be delivered, also no explanation as to why no one answered the phone when I called them almost 10 times in a row that night. He also lied multiple times and said he couldn't refund my order only Grubhub could, except they told me on the phone the owner wouldn't allow them to refund me. Funny thing is, after repeatedly telling him that Grubhub in fact could not refund me until he no longer refused to allow them, he called them and confirmed my refund. Was planning on giving them one more chance but after the way the OWNER behaved I'll NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. I placed an order and it was never delivered. No phone call with an explanation or anything. Have yet to be refunded and had to contact Grubhub directly to get a refund. I called an hour after placing my order and they said they had my order and then 10 mins later when I called again to see why it STILL hadn't been delivered they never answered the phone. They have really good food, but, when a restaurant takes my money (cost of food, delivery charge, AND tip), doesn't deliver it ever, doesn't even CALL me to let me know, and then also doesn't refund me, it's inexcusable. Don't ever order delivery or they may just steal money from you like what they did to me. Better yet, just don't eat there and save yourself the trouble!! read more

bajas taqueria - I had steak n cheese for a change and it hit the spot - Mexican Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I ordered from this restaurant on Door Dash and I was really enjoying the food until I took a bite of the taco and found that there was a very large chicken bone. I don't really know how this was missed considering they dice the chicken rather small, but this is a real safety hazard. I ordered a set of three tacos and it was in the middle of my second taco and I was honestly nervous to eat the rest of it. The food was really good until then, but it made me feel nauseous after taking a bite into a boney piece of meat. I also got their tiramisu and it was quite good and very light. I don't live in the area so I won't have to debate coming back again, but it is a real shame that there was a bone or else this would have been a very different rating. read more

I was in the Brown University area craving a salad, and I stumbled into this joint, i'm glad I did. The salad was flavorful with lots of options for toppings ( and very flavor, the chicken is to die for). Good portions and for $9 it's a steal for what you would get up the street (Chipotle). read more

Got the completely wrong order and they refused to remedy the issue. The incorrect food we got was not good at all. Never again.

I'm a "picky eater" in far too many ways to name. This is important to know when I tell you that the ingredients Bahas uses for their tacos, burritos, etc. are high quality and done well. The meats were lean and seasoned well. Everything is right in front of you when ordering so there's zero guess work in wondering things like 'chicken chunks or crumbles', 'healthy lettuce or sad lettuce' it's all right there in front of you so you can see for yourself. The hot salsa is actually hot, which is awesome. My only complaint is that if you want water in a cup (not buying a bottle) you will be given a mouthwash sized cup of sink water. If you want a refill you must go ask the Cassie's. The fountain machine doesn't have a water feature. I would hope that eventually they just put a water cooler out so people can refill their own tiny cups. But whatever. The food is so damn good who cares if you get a little parched, right?! read more

First, I have not ever had an issue with the food or service until now. I give one star because the food deserves it. On June 13 around 7pm I wanted my rewards qr code scanned as this would pay for the tacos my wife and I ordered. The manager and girl behind the counter were unable to scan the code for some reason, but did tell me my balance was 0, which was untrue. When I showed my card balance the manager acknowledged there was a balance but said "not my problem". Before something bad happened to him, I decided to just leave the food at the counter and walked away. We've been going there for years...until now read more
