Key lime Seasonal Pie or Cake V
Morgan S.

The service was a little slow but the food tasted great! I met my friend here for lunch around 1pm. We did not have a reservation so we waited about 5mins. Our waitress came by quickly with menus and waters. She introduced herself and asked if we needed a minute. We did so she left and came back with 10mins. We placed an appetizer order and ordered our entrees. The appetizer came out within 15 minutes and then the entrees arrived 30mins after that. We ordered the Mac and cheese appetizer to share. It was really good! Very creamy and well blended with all the cheeses. I got the chicken n waffles. The chicken breast was huge and fried! The waffle was cut up into four pieces and dusted with powdered sugar. I really enjoyed the flavors of savory and sweet! The maple syrup was great! It was a great classic dish! It was about 45 minutes until our waitress returned and asked if we wanted dessert. We said yes and got the seasonal pie, it was key lime! Wow what a tart pie haha you kinda go into it knowing it's going to be tart but it was a little much for me haha. I definitely used the whipped cream to calm down the tartness haha it was still really good! By the time we were fished it was 3pm. So we were there for TWO hours... that's a little too long in my opinion. Overall it was a great experience with great food and a lovely waitress. The service of how often she checked on us/took our orders could have been speed up haha but again, over all it was great and I'm looking forward to going back!

When we pulled up to the restaurant for our 7pm reservation the bar was busy, but the restaurant was empty. We decided to keep our reservation and so glad we did. Our server was so friendly wish I got her name. I do know she was somewhat new because she told us after we asked for some suggestions. She told us what is popular because she hasn't been able to try all the food. For the appetizers we split the mac n cheese and Nashville bites. The mac n cheese was good as well as the Nashville Bites. For dinner two of us had the chicken enchiladas and the other two had the bison meatloaf. The enchiladas were so tasty and the sauce had a little kick to it. The chicken was very moist and plenty of it. My friend's devoured the bison meatloaf. They couldn't beloved how good it was. The only negative I would say about the entire meal was they charge for refills on their soda. The restaurant isn't that big, so I do suggest making reservations. After about 15 minutes of being in the restaurant it started filling up.

I give this place a 4 because they're pretty good but not the best brunch I've had. I was there because of the pearl st market and my friend has dietary restrictions so we chose this place as they have healthy options. I got the bacon and eggs Avocado toast. Not bad but a little pricey for what you get but this is Denver. However, I did knock back 2 brut wines lol. Those were a good price. It's a cute place and great to sit outdoors on a nice day. I would visit this place again and the service overall was really good. Stop in when on Pearl St.

My wife, adult son & his wife, other adult son, and I visited this restaurant last night and really enjoyed our dining experience together to celebrate our younger son's birthday. The restaurant was right on the main, popular Pearl Street in Platt Park, parking was basically limited to bust street parking, the outside of the restaurant was interesting, loved their sign, had a round, stone table with fire to keep us warm and this is where we had our dinner celebration, the nicely decorated dining room was spacious and clean, our server was friendly and excellent, the menu was adequate and on the pricey side, our food was very tasty and was served hot, and the restrooms were clean and did not smell.

This is the cutest place! I met some friends for a late lunch and drinks and we all just loved it. They have a cute patio in the front, our server was so nice and attentive, and all of our salads (and the fries) were delicious! It has a hip/casual vibe and would be a great brunch spot. We'll be back!

What a yummy spot in south Denver - such a cute street and atmosphere. Our waitress was really nice and did a great job making sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the turkey club sandwich and a side salad, and it was so delicious and refreshing. The turkey club had a great ratio of turkey to bacon - sometimes the turkey can make the whole thing dry. It was so tasty! Parking is reasonable along the street. Prices were a little steep for what you get, but still reasonable, I'd say. It also took quite a bit of time for our food to come out of the kitchen. We did come after the lunch rush, so I was hopeful food would be out sooner.

Service was terrible and they weren't even busy. Drinks were great. Food was disappointing. My burrito had very little protein in chicken sausage. Somehow I couldn't get a fried chicken substitute. The burrito had fresh veggies but it was more of a vegetarian burrito than anything else. The lack of service really ruined the experience for me to be Frank.

Bison Meatloaf

Love that this great little spot is so close to my house! The service has always been friendly, the food is delicious, and it comes out fast (but not too fast). Our favorite this time around was the bison meatloaf, which had a deliciously spicy ketchup on top and crispy brussel sprouts. The turkey shepherd's pie was also good (we just tend to like pot pies better, but their mashed potatoes are pretty darn flavorful). We liked our winter salad too-- it added a great acidic complement to our rich entrees.

Our favorite lunch is the Blackened Chicken Philly halved with sweet potato fries.

We started going to Bird several years ago and have had many great times including the time Jen the manager stayed open late for us to watch the end of the final basketball game. The champagne toast when the Nuggets won was over the top cool.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, and it was pretty busy - first come, first serve seating. Even though this place is very popular, I was not incredibly impressed. Ordered the Pilsner to drink, and the Bird Burger with fries. The Pilsner was pretty good- light and crisp, and I liked the battered fries as well. However I did not love the burger. I ordered it medium rare, but it came cooked all the way through, no pink, and pretty dry. I had to add ketchup for some more flavor. I did not love my experience here, but it was not bad, and others in my group that had the fried chicken dishes really liked it. It isn't high on my list to return, but I would get the fried chicken if I did.

Check in for a surprise

Stopped in for weekend brunch/lunch. I called ahead to see how long the wait was for a party of 3 and was told it would probably be a half hour - they don't take reservations. We decided to head over anyway since it was close to a venue we were going to later. I called again at 12:15 and there was no longer a wait. Street parking on Pearl can be a challenge, but we did find a spot across the street. Bird is located in what looks like an old, 2 story house that's been morphed into a cozy restaurant. It's light and bright and completely packed with tables which contributes to the noise level. I felt like i was part of the conversation at the table next to us. You enter just past a very small patio area right into the small bar. There is a stairway up to more seating but we sat in the next room on the first floor. Our server was Kennedy and she was helpful and efficient. Other servers were quick to jump in if it seemed like we needed something. Bird bills itself as American Comfort Food and it definitely is. We had a gourmet grilled cheese with tomato bisque soup, a beautiful salad and the chicken Philly sandwich. All of it was good and I enjoyed a Chai latte with just the right amount of cinnamon on it. The menu has lots of delicious sounding items and they do have happy hour so I'm looking forward to going back. Tip: Don't Forget to check in on Yelp for a nice surprise.

Food came out about 15 minutes after ordering. I got The Leo's sandwich, the pork was great. Fries could have been a little crispier.

Do they have Chicken Pot Pie and how is it?

Is this place fancy enough for a group to celebrate a high school graduation?

Definitely. I think it would be a fantastic location. It is Classy comfort with choices for seating both indoor and outdoor with a great patio large table with a small fire pit in the middle. There's an upper level that is more quiet for the… Read more

Well, I have visited this restaurant 3 times. All 3 times have been for a holiday brunch or…read moredinner. Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

During the last few Denver Restaurant Week events, I've tried to take the offerings as an…read moreopportunity to sample restaurants that I haven't tried, or otherwise may not try, and see if I can add to my list of favorites. I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.
